Its the most fun I have ever had in a local bar. If you don't know anyone, you will before you leave and will look forward to the next time you come back and the owner and bar tenders are awesome, friendly and really quick to serve. not like other bars that bartenders have their favorites and hang out by them, around the corner and not pay attention to the costumers. ((we have all been to these places and that's why you don't go back)) Always something going on to make you laugh. And the prices are better than most places. The have Pizza and the drinks are very generously poured. Sometimes I have to ask them to hold back when I'm driving but they DO pay attention and talk to you to make sure you get great drinks but make sure you are not over poured for you safety or get you a cab and. The shorewood is a really nice place. They often have bands at night that are a mix of country, rock, pop, etc. They have great bands, and the customer service is outstanding. The bartenders make really good drinks, and their chicken tenders are really good. I have been a repeat customer for a few years, and I will keep coming back, this is also one of my friend's go to for a few drinks with friends. If you read my bar reviews, you know I'm a fan of the local dive bar, and the Sherwood Lounge hits all the notes. They have a great beer list, with a few options from local craft breweries, such as 612 brewery, Summit, Surly etc. and you can order your beer in liter sizes, always a bonus. I'm not much for pull tabs, but if you are, have at it! I usually go with a friend that works as a st paul police officer, and he always bumps into a handful of off duty cops. So blue collar, and I think the shenanigans never get out of hand. refused entry simply because of a sweatshirt. 0/10 no reason why when asked about the sweatshirt. i understood that they were closing at 12 and i was very receptive of that. after he proceeded to tell us "no even if we were open later you wouldn't be able to come in" for a sweatshirt. in my time of living a sweatshirt is used for comfortability warmth anxiety helper anything but " representation of loyalty" whoever is watching the door assuming that i'm part or affiliated with a gang probably needs to be checked or reviewed. assumption of character before entry of building is probably something to tel your workers not to do. i will tell people i know and actively tell people to avoid this place. will never return never promote read more

Our 1st trip here and it was awesome! I danced with a 75 year old man to some live music laughed and had a great time with my boyfriend. The Barrtenders are amazing, two blonde women momentarily during shift switch and had the pleasure being served by both, and both were absolutely wonderful. The fact this is a 3 min. Drive 9 min. The Sherwood Lounge -- keepin it real on the Eastside The Sherwood is our friendly neighborhood bar. It's not really awesome but my boyfriend knows everyone that works there and it's within walking (stumbling) distance from our house so we end up here an awful lot. They have Newcastle and Corona so I'm content. I will note my BF said the Bloody Marys are "unremarkable" and he wouldn't order one here again. He usually gets a shot and a beer. Sometimes there is live music, which I find odd and not exactly a draw, but whatevs. There's a covered patio which will be useless for the next few months (except for smokers) but is nice when it's warmer. There is definitely darts and possibly a pool table. It's usually crowded on weekend nights and the crowd is predominantly blue collar. Visited the Sherwood Lounge with family and friends on a weekend. The band that night was super-good mix of country, rock, pop, classics. The Barnes tenders were fast and friendly. The neighborhood feel was nice, even though we weren't from the neighborhood. Beware-Very little for food and snacks and zero gluten free. It's a Barnes mostly with music. Cash only, too. Love this bar! Definitely a neighborhood dive, but thats a good thing! When I first moved to this neighborhood I was a little nervous going in, thinking I might get treated like an "outsider", but everyone was super friendly! Made friends sitting at the bar right away, and the bartenders are all awesome. They have pool, darts, and a giant jenga game out on the patio, which also has a fireplace which is nice on cooler nights. The drinks are fairly priced and they have a pretty decent selection of beer on tap. read more

Best deal to get drunk! the bartenders are always nice, but they are so busy its sometimes hard to get service in a timely fashion. However, best bloody mary in the city. Yum! The drinks aren't weak either, they let you have it. Considering the location of the bar, you'd think it would be a lot quieter to go there, but I have seen a lot of fights, once i saw a pregnant woman take two shots, i dont know how thats being allowed. I need to frequent my neighborhood bars more often - and am glad to have ventured in to this one. Sherwood is bigger than I anticipated from the outside and offers a little more than just a stool and a beer. Extensive menu, so long as you like Heggie's pizza (that's it.) Pool tables. Dart boards. Bartenders are always great here. Quick service but a little bit of a dive bar. Whenever I have gone to Sherwood it has always been with a bigger group of people and we end up getting pizza fries or a regular bar pizza. Not fancy at all but fits of your out with a bunch of guys drinking. read more

Stopped in to see my friends band play 2 fridays ago. I played some pulltabs (which were great, seller couldn't have been nicer) won some cash and thought- "Hey! I'm a good patron, Let me buy a round a shots for the band" so i did. It was a reasonable amount ($30) with a fair 22% tip or so, we drank, the band toasted the bar, all was merry. On the band break, a player came over and ordered two of the same, the total was almost $20 for 2. I politely inquired into the inconsistency and the bartender went off the rails about how in the last 8 years or whatever shes been there, shes an expert and I'm a worthless customer and how dare I question their pricing and how dare I rat out the other bartender for cutting me a deal for a bulk order.. and theres more... I won't elaborate, but I have NEVER in my life been treated so rudely by a bartender in my life. The pulltabs may be good, but the staff (other than the kind, clueless owner) are completely worthless jerks. read more
