A man was standing in front of the door talking to someone. I said excuse me and he asked what I want. And I said "oh sorry excuse me I just need to get by" he held the door closed tight by the handle. Blocking me with his body and said what do you want again really rudely. I then noticed the Noyo theater hat so I presume he was the owner possibly. I said oh I just wanted to wash my hands and buy some candy. I was so intimidated at that point I went in and bought candy and washed my hands and left the event. I had not been in to see a movie since the new owners bought it but have been in Willits my whole life going to the theater and never been treated this way. My response since I can't reply to you: pretty poor attempt to cover up sheer rudeness. I had already bought popcorn and was going back in to buy candy. Therefore concessions to go. Which I won't be doing again. Asking how you can help someone and straight up holding the door closed on them and being rude are two different things of which I know the difference. I go out of my way during these events to buy concessions because I see posts about needing to support a locally owned theater and I don't usually go out to movies. It's unfortunate a business I have gone out of my way to support even if all I can do is buy some concessions feels the need to physically hold the door closed so I can't come in.

The Goddess Crafts Faire has long been a winter season event in Sebastopol. It's a call-back to…read moreSebastopol's hippie/hipster heritage, when the Grateful Dead hung out at the local diner&Luther Burbank befriended the author of "Autobiography of a Yogi." For a Bay Area event, the Goddess Crafts Faire is fairly reasonable, with a sliding scale admission price of $7-12. This year, the Goddess Crafts Faire celebrated its 22nd year&gave its proceeds to Standing Rock in North Dakota. The Goddess Crafts Faire is held at the Sebastopol Community Center, where the parking is tight. It's best to attend when the weather (and roadways) are good. The event could use a larger venue, considering the turnout. The Soco Vegfest has moved from the Finley Community Center to the Luther Burbank one, because it got too big. Going to the Goddess Crafts Faire requires the sacrifice of finding a parking spot&making the long walk. It IS worth it. The artists, some who come from Cazadero, from the more remote parts of the Bay Area, are friendly and helpful. There's an array of spiritually flavored art, with the themes of the Goddess and Nature. There are food vendors, selling organic products like cacao, along with handcrafted clothing. It's an arts&crafts fest. Last year, the caterer was some sort of fusion thing&it looked good (although pricey), this year, it was substandard carnival fare. Last year, it was Japanese/Korean meets the taqueria... this year, it was forgettable. It's an interesting event, definitely gives flavor to Sebastopol.

I have been getting more of my holiday gifts there, since there is such a wide array of items, from clothing, jewelry, organically made facial and beauty products, whimsical art to handcrafted pottery... the list is long. What is really nice about getting gifts here is that I can meet face to face with the creator, get contact information, talk about the process and get a deeper appreciation for the craft. Besides having a source for holiday gifting, it is a place to meet friends coming from as far as Ukiah, Cazadero, San Francisco and Oakland, as well as a place to make new contacts for business and new friendships, while warming up with a cup of their homemade soup, professionally made by the in-house caterer. This year, the organizers are donating some of the proceeds to the Northern California fire victims. After having attended the Goddess Crafts Faire for many years as a shopper, I am now a vendor!

Testa was recommended to me by one of the wonderful servers at Patrona in Ukiah. She told me that I had to come here for a tasting before I left the area, and I did. And damn, am I happy that I did! This was my favorite tasting experience while out in the Ukiah area. What I loved about the tasting room here is that it's quaint, intimate, and super relaxing. No big crowds that you have to push through to make your way to the tasting room. It's quiet, peaceful, and the views are just astounding. And it's doesn't hurt that their estate is so damn adorable! The entire setup is truly darling! There's a beautiful covered deck with the most comfortable sofas! It reveals the most majestic views of their pond, garden, and vineyards. They have several shaded picnic tables and a rocking chair. You can walk around the premises and get lost in all of the beauty that surrounds it. I was literally falling asleep on the couch while I sat out on the deck and tasted. Yep, that's how comfortable I was! Their wines are very tasty as well! They make a variety of whites and reds and have won many awards for their delicious creations. They have their award-winning wines and ribbons posted on the wall of their indoor tasting area. A tasting consists of 5 of their wines. I'm not sure what the cost is for a tasting, but the tasting fee is waived with the purchase of a bottle and their prices are really reasonable. I really enjoyed their "Black" red blend the most and ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. A fun fact about this wine: it was created by their own members at a winemaker's party that they had at the winery. I couldn't believe that the members actually put together such a good blend, but it's amazing! You can fish in the pond for free if you're member! Another interesting fact is that they only use 10% of the wine that they produce. The other 90% is outsourced to other wineries! Now, that's how you KNOW that it's good! Saving the best for last of course. The main reason why I enjoyed tasting here so much was because of JENN!!! That lady is friggin' AMAZE BALLS, mmkay? So much personality and knowledge packed inside of that little body of hers! I honestly felt like I was hanging out with an old friend from high school. Her passion for wine is so undeniable. People like her are so rare to find these days. She is perfect at what she does and Testa is so lucky to have her there. I hope she stays at Testa for many years to come because I want her to be there when I come back again. Whew! I did it again! I done wrote up another novel, y'all! But when you look at their sign on the side of the highway, they're clearly open it's Wednesday. It's 3:20 PM and they're closed. This is the second time has happened in the last two times I've tried to go here. I don't think I'm ever gonna go back again because it's a hassle of trying to turn around and everything. I have always wanted to go to the Kate Wolf Music Festival. I remember hearing about it years ago and being impressed with the lineup. It was diverse and I knew it would be an intimate and unforgettable experience And so this year - when I saw that Smokey Robinson was playing - I committed and bought my ticket. I manifested a ride that morning from a guy who was kind enough to take the longer route to Portland and I chanced it up (danced in the car) all the way there. He wasn't able to drive all of the way in - so he dropped me off in a dry field right by the entrance. The heat was strong and as I piled all of my stuff up in an awkward heap, feeling the sweat drip into my eyes - I knew it would be an adventure. From the moment I arrived at Kate Wolf Music Festival I was greeted with nothing but kindness. Two volunteers helped recruit a festival vehicle to help transport me and my stuff into the campgrounds.The older tye-dye adorned man who drove up to help me - lapped around the area twice just so I could get a well rounded understanding of the space. Once inside I set up camp in a shady area (which unfortunately are few and far between in the campground area at Black Oak Ranch.) by a lovely welcoming group of Kate Wolf veterans. From then on - it was pure magic. Kate Wolf Music Festival has been taking place since June of 1996. The crowd skews older and it's evident by the way everyone knows each other - that the Kate Wolf Music Festival is an annual event for many. It's very family oriented and everyone looks out for each other. I have never felt safer at a festival. The music was also the most varied of any of the festivals I have attended thus far this year. With the ethereal crooning of Ma Muse, the soulful blues from Roy Roger's slide guitar, and the pure sex and unmistakable born talent that oozed from Lukas Nelson - I was smitten. I befriended some kind vendors throughout my time there and lived off of mystical Jun based Herbal Junction Elixirs . I had been gifted a ticket to see the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well concert in Santa Clara that Sunday, and while I was definitely torn between the two - I am glad that I basked in the pure and genuine energy which moved so easily around Kate Wolf Music Festival. It was hot and it may have been one of the hardest festivals to secure a ride to - but it was so worth it. Hip rolling to Smokey Robinson in my yellow dress with my Jun elixir in hand - I felt abundantly blessed. Thank you Kate Wolf for leaving such a pure musically lined legacy. Trust.

A…read morededicated group of musicians, music lovers, happy volunteers and all things northern California cool gather just north of the tiny rural town of Laytonville right on the 101. The Kate Wolf festival is one of those rare events that everyone should attend at least once in their lives. Excellent music, decent food options, kids programs and entertainment throughout the days events(if you have children), camping on the site of the festival, most everyone you encounter is glad to be there, friendly and kind. All of the volunteer staff are good, decent folks that are glad you are there, and it is all held in an awesome setting - under big shade trees and on a grassy meadow. It can get a little crowded, it can be a little hot and some times there is a line at the porta-pots(which by the way are some of the cleanest you will ever encounter at an outdoor three day music festival) but hey that's part of what makes outdoor festivals fun and interesting - Kate Wolf Festival in a class all by itself and its all about the love and the music. You will be glad you went, and most who do attend come back.
