This set the tone for our first impression and it wasn't good. Also old rough fleece for a blanket is not personally preferred. The front desk woman was also not very welcoming granted it was 10:30pm. However, the shower pressure was great. The general layout of this little inn is cute. Free parking in a well lit area is appreciated. Breakfast was not free.

Who the heck goes to Willits for a fun adventure???…read more *Crickets, crickets* I had a spontaneous idea on a Friday night to go to Trillium Falls in Orick because of a gorgeous picture on Facebook. Unfortunately, it was seven hours away, so no one wanted to drive that far at night. Since my man happily considered driving the four of us if we could stay somewhere in between, I frantically looked on Orbitz while we texted back and forth where we could stop off. Woo hoo! Score! I found this charming motel with an old "Western" theme. The office was closed when we arrived around 11 pm, but a window was open to check-in. The woman who helped me was friendly and welcoming. I was surprised she wasn't grouchy since it was late! I'm so glad there was a room available with 3 beds!! The girls always fight when we're away on vacation since they hate sharing a bed. The room was spacious and spotless! There was a microwave that we didn't use and a fridge that kept our food and drinks cold. We were given breakfast vouchers at Lumberjack's for both days we stayed. Five dollars for each person! What an awesome deal!! Thanks, Orbitz!

September 13, 2025 - Redwood Valley, CA…read more We stopped by on a Saturday and were surprised at how quiet it was. A big plus: they're dog-friendly. The tasting room itself is stunning, with soaring 40-foot ceilings arching over a central fountain--worth a visit just for the architecture. Flights are $10, and our host was especially generous, letting us try a few wines not listed on the menu. The wines were enjoyable, and the prices refreshingly reasonable compared to many other wineries these days.

When we arrived the lone worker was obviously busy and we were disturbing her. When I said I wanted to do a wine tasting she quickly set up the glasses, quickly put the small amounts of wine in each glass, handed me a list of the wines and walked away. No information, no history of the company, no tales of the land (and isn't that why we visit these places?). About 3 tastes in she asked "how is that?" That was it. I told my husband, even before I'd tasted them all, that there was no way I'd buy any of this wine, no matter how good it was, because the service was dismal. Though the grounds and building are beautiful I was so disappointed. I do not think we will stop here again. We love to go to tasting rooms and get educated and always come away having learned something as well as having a lovely time. Not so at Barra. The service certainly needs work.

Came here around 8pm on a Thursday night as a group of four, and there were a few other tables with customers. I ordered the build-it-yourself burger with onion rings as the side. When I was there, they were in the middle of remodeling the restaurant, so they were out of a lot of things. No biggie, but I did not know until I got my food. I did not have the opportunity to change my side, so I ended up being surprised with regular fries. Another person I was with also ordered the burger, and it came with the wrong cheese. Either way, the food was good, (especially my friend's sweet potato fries, which I took from their plate) and it has the advantage of being the only place around this area where you can get a full meal. At this point, the restaurant has been remodeled and reopened, so I hope it's better and stocked up.

I was staying for the night at the casino hotel, so I decided to come in here for dinner. Everybody was very nice. I started out with the roasted Brussel sprouts appetizer. I normally hate plain brussels sprouts, but really enjoy them if they have been properly "zhuzzed up." These definitely were. They had a good char on them without being burnt, and the sauce had a good "zip" To it. There was also bacon and crumbled cheese. The portion was huge! For the main course, I had the Philly cheesesteak. The bread was tender, the meat was tender and flavorful, the cheese was delicious, and the vegetables were Not mushy. I normally don't care for green bell pepper, but it was good in this sandwich. Not enough that it overwhelmed the flavor. Instead of the french fries or the sweet potato fries, I had the coleslaw. . I don't know the sauce they used for the coleslaw, it was more than just mayonnaise. It was delicious. Again, a very large portion. Between the appetizer and the main course, I left with plenty of food for a nice breakfast. Food drink and tip came out to about $35. Not bad for the quality and quantity of the food. So take away a star? The service. I sat down at 7 PM, it took me 10 minutes to get my drink, my appetizer didn't come until 7 30, , (I had to ask them where it was,) and another 10 minutes after that to get my main course. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but they were only four or five people in the whole place. I also understand if the kitchen was understaffed, but I never got an explanation, or an apology. Actually, they did apologize, but not until after I politely asked where my food was. I earned enough slot points for the $3.99 blueberry pancakes bacon and egg breakfast, but even if I didn't have leftovers, I wouldn't take the chance in the morning. I needed to get on the road. Just based on the food, I will Try this place again the next time I stay here. Hopefully this was just a "one off.".
