Garcia River Casino Sits in an Open ranch style area - in Point Arena, They have very friendly staff, just a handful of machines, and we had a great time! After driving and seeing most all the natural sites, forest trails and beaches in the area in the morning and early afternoons, we were returning from Fort Bragg and decided to follow the signs to Garcia's River Casino for some nightlife. There were only six cars in the parking lot. Walked in and they had a slot tournament ending in 10 minutes, so we played and I won first place! With my more play, we sat next to each other on two machines and had a ball! Both machines kept giving us bonus rounds and terrific combinations. It's a very small casino, and a different activity for us for the week. But it sure was fun! It doesn't compare to LV or other casinos, but gave them 3 stars because we had a great time playing their machines. For us, It was definitely worth a stop. read more

Driving from Oregon back to LA stopped here in search of a burger for my son, our bad we didn't realize it was 21 and over, we stopped here got burgers and ate in the asking lot. First and foremost I must say the staff there was great as we waited in the parking lot for them to prepare our food, he lady opening the door for everyone told us there was a rest room inside, and was very friendly. Then to top it off the girl that took the order then brought the food out to us as we were about to go in and check. I only gave this place 4 star cause it was a Costco type pre-made burger and it was 30 dollars for 2 burgers, expensive and not a great burger. But the people were great. read more

Garcia River Casino is 5 years old, but it's well kept & still looks almost new. A Native American Casino, it features 150 gaming machines in a 9,000 sq. ft. space, + a Bar & Restaurant. The River Grill has a large menu & reasonable prices, so it's been a hit with the locals. There are not many restaurants in the area. Or much in the way of Entertainment, for that matter. There are few patrons most of the time, which has a negative effect on the vibe. Probably more employees than customers. read more

This startup casino will succeed because the floor people are amazing. Very good food at excellent prices. They have live entertainment on select nights. There are only slots here so save your card counting skills for another place. Only negative is that our clothes smelled like cigarettes afterwords. But this is typical of this type of venue. We were really surprised with this off-the-beaten-path place. No smoking, quiet, and very secure. We came on Friday and had the biggest, most delicious prime rib ever. It came with salad, baked potato and veggies. For $25, you can't find a better deal. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Lupe in the kitchen was especially pleasant. And Lal chatted with us about various places to stay in the area. We tried our hands at one of the slots and didn't do well there (who does). But we highly recommend this remote place to eat and have a beer or wine. read more

The worst food ever. My wife and I went to the casino for their Friday Night Prime Rib Dinner but when we arrived we were told that they would not be serving Prime Rib. Disappointed, we ordered rib eye steaks... what a mistake. Absolutely the WORST STEAK EVER!!! At least 1/3 of the "steak" was fat, the rest was incredibly tough membranes and gristle. The "roasted" potatoes were actually deep fried cubes of spuds. A complete ripoff as the meal cost $50 for the two of us, with no alcohol. PS-Our dogs thought the steak was OK but then again, they like rawhide. read more

Fun little Casino, I never experienced this before, but when we got there at opening, my wife and I were the only two people in the casino for a good 20 minutes, LOL was pretty awesome. Services very friendly, the people that work there some of them are actually from the tribe which is unusual for Indian casinos, at least some of the larger ones in California. Slots were actually pretty fair, we were able to play for a few hours. it was a good time, and we will definitely come again, it is a tiny little casino but well run. read more

It was a trip to find this Native Casino on the remote California coast. We were traveling from the north and heading south, but we were going to camp in nearby Manchester Beach. But there was a basketball game we had to see (Shoni Schimmel of the Umatilla Nation & her sister Jude were in the NCAA women's tournament). It was a shot in the dark, but we hoped to have a TV and a place to grab a bite. We found this and much more. The outer structure is a bit boxish and industrial, but still modern and stylish. Inside you have a first class casino. Now, I'm not a casino person, but I can tell that this place is new and definitely pimpin' on the inside. And in the back we found a bar and a restaurant. We asked if we could switch one of their TVs to the game, and the super staff totally obliged. In fact they said we didn't have to watch at the bar, we could grab a nearby table and they'd put the game on the big screen TV on their performance stage. We stopped in here for a late night dinner as nothing else was open. The lady at the food counter was pleasant and accommodating, food was good. The casino itself is clean and well kept. The casino didn't seem to be having all that much luck though, regulars at the slots and at the bar, not much else. The talent playing on the stage, AWFUl at best. The lead singer was doing an off key solo of, "Can't judge a book by the cover" and it was enough to make your ears bleed. He did a Led Zeppelin rendition that I'm sure they would have been mortified to hear. Yes, it was that bad. There was one person on the floor dancing up on an older guy, think it was a barmaid down on her tips for the night. This review is specifically on the restaurant. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and garlic bread. It was so delicious. I love chowder. The chowder was perfect and full of clams. It was perfect!! The garlic bread was so good too. It was nice and crispy and buttery. The cooks were very nice and the cashier was very nice as well. The service was quick and the food is made to order. Nice friendly place to spend the morning. Since my wife and I do not favor second hand smoke, a local friend told us to go in the morning when it is quiet and the smokers are sleeping. Ya, no smokers and only about twelve others in the casino. This is hopefully the way the future will be when smoker kick this addiictive Age-accelerating of a habit. Okay, forgive me for my opion. As stated by others, no table games here just slots. My wife is a lucky person and immediately turned $2 into $20 at the dime slots! They should add Keno next, since it can be played by anyone anywhere in the Casino, even while you are eating! The waitress was very friendly and served drinks without delay. The Cashier was very professional just like in Reno. This place is so new and clean. They just need to improve the access road. The one end of the road on the north end of Point Arena is a Dead End, but our Garmin GPS did not know this and send us down this path to our surprise. As Native American casinos go, this casino wasn't that bad in terms of decor. Granted you have to take an access road 1.8 miles out of Point Arena to get there. Frankly, I'm not sure what clientele they're hoping to get, maybe the well-to-do from down the coast in Sea Ranch? Anyhow, a red barn-like structure houses the casino. The facilities are new and actually looks really nice inside. It is literally one square 4000 sq foot room that serves as the casino. Maybe 200 slots at most. No table games. A rather spacious bar area with flatscreen TV mounted above showing sports. A small area to the left of the bar is the grill/restaurant. What are probably some banquet tables serving as the dining area to the right of the bar. Player services and security booths on the right. And possibly the cleanest bathrooms in the county - seriously. I was there on a Saturday afternoon with a few minutes to spare and really wanting to see why there was a casino in the middle of nowhere. There were less than 10 cars in the parking lot, less than 10 people playing slots, and I only saw a total of 4 employees (the gal at the main booth near the entrance, a gal running the grill and bar, and two others). My wife and I are staying at the Wharfside Inn and were looking for a good deal and good food. We know that casinos generally have pretty good deals, we headed over to the Garcia River Casino Grill....We ordered the Rib Eye sandwich and Oriental Chicken Salad....Wow were we surprised. Not only were the prices reasonable ($10 each) but the portions were extremely generous! We shared each other's plates and were very satisfied. Well if your into the seedy staring into the face of the electric abyss atmosphere of casinos...which I on occasion am you will find this place entertaining. They have live music on a tiny stage some nights! Try and stop by on those nights so you will have entertainment. The Kitchen is amazing, serving up a delicious Prime Rib or "P-Rib" as we call it. They have set menus for every day so make sure you know what your in for before you go. Everything is reasonably priced for what you get. Super friendly staff and like everywhere in Mendocino don't be surprised if your neighbor is suddenly your new best friend during dinner as conversations are jovial and people are friendly here. The first thing you have to understand is when a tribe gets the ok to have a casino, normally the funding is low, so you generally get a very small place that has been slapped together. I have been to may Indian Casinos and for a small, new casino, this is nice. When we drove up to the location, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful area surrounding us. The casino is built to look like an old barn. It doesn't have the look of Las Vegas with all the bright, crazy lights outside. We walked inside and everyone, including the players, greeted us! We were directed to the complimentary drinks in two areas and free popcorn at one station. There is a bar & grill near the stage in the corner. At the grill, my husband tried the breaded chicken strips (8 piece that had about 12 included!) and my BBQ pulled pork sandwich was so big that I could only eat 1/2 of it! When the server brought it out, she asked if I would like some extra BBQ sauce. The fries were perfect, crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. They have Flaked Sea Salt at the tables! The food was awesome! Then we went to the games... First thing I noticed was there are not yet any table games. No loss for me, I normally can't afford them! The slots are mostly of the new variety. Sex & the City, Star Wars, Wheel of Fortune, Fort Knox are just a sampling. They have all the standard reel machines and everything from 1 cent to 1 dollar slots. People were winning left and right! Some new casinos are hungry to get your money, some want to build a reputation as a place with winning slots. This is a place with loose slots! We turned $60 into over $300 in no time. This Casino is super cute!!! It definitely is one of the highlights in this small town. When you walk in you can see the entire casino including slot machines, grill and dining area. When I checked into Sea Ranch Rentals they gave me a $10 credit, 20% off coupon for the grill and a free promotional gift at the casino. I was able to take advantage of all three offers and there happened to be a live band that I got to enjoy listening to while having dinner with family. There are also complimentary sodas, coffee and popcorn to enjoy while gambling. Keep in mind this casino is very tiny so there are limited slot machines, one black jack table that has a virtual dealer on a tv screen and they do not serve hard liquor. You can however enjoy beer, wine or Mikes hard lemonade at the bar. Overall this did make for a fun night out in this small town and I'm sure we will be visiting in the future! read more

I recently moved to the Mendocino area, and have been to this casino 3 times so far. Each time I've gone home with more $ then I left with. I used to go to Graton and I'm sure I've left quite a few clams there- never to be seen again... Garcia River is a much smaller venue and therefore less smoky, and less competition for machines. Best of all their slots actually pay. Today is Friday and prime rib was on the menu, so I treated myself with my winnings. Saw the signs for this casino while taking Hwy 1 down and decided to check it out. The whole casino was very clean and they were consistently cleaning. There is currently no food, no drinks, and no smoking right now but we didn't mind. They had a little snack machine. I won $239 and my husband won $310 playing slots. Horrible service new management in the kitchen thats we were told from their own staff. There was 6 of us waited over an hour for our breakfast. After our food comes out the order was wrong they also forgot an order. Than the cook comes out brings out an order we didn't order told him we didn't want that than he says "I'll eat it at my break if you dont want it"!!! When the last order comes out there was a PIECE OF PLASTIC on the FOOD!!! The register girl comes to our table and says it's the cook fault.
