Once I walked in to inquire about that, I was enamored by all the dainty, gorgeous gold jewelry pieces at really reasonable prices. I went in needing absolutely nothing and walking out with the most gorgeous gold martini necklace that also has an emerald accent. The owner, Bridgette was super nice and the vibes in the shop are perfect for treating yourself. All the pieces in the store seemed to be trendy and also high quality. I was visiting from out of town and my sis decided to take me to old town Alexandria for some shopping on a Tuesday. I have been wanting to buy another ring to wear, and we swung into this shop to take a look. The shop itself is small, but cute inside. We were greeted pretty quickly when we walked in. I told them my budget was $50 and under and that I was around a 7.5-8 ring size. Which, they didn't have too big of a variety of rings in my size, but I did end up finding one that I loved! I took my 8 year old daughter here to pick out a necklace for herself and a friend for her birthday. I was standing right next her looking at earrings. The woman working grabbed what my daughter was looking at and told her it was not a toy. My daughter was not playing with it (but with the way the necklaces were displayed they were swaying around) and we had every intention of looking to purchase. I love popping in here. The store owner is super sweet and very helpful. I love that they carry candles which I have now filled my house with. The jewelry is gorgeous and caters to a certain style in my opinion. Dainty rings, studded earrings in cute metal finishes, rhinestone bar earrings. They also carry a lot of Hamsa pieces. Larger necklaces, and very small dainty ones. If you love layering jewelry in the chicest of ways come here. This isn't your typical place to get colorful gaudy pieces, this isn't a place to get loud costume jewelry. This place caters to those who like indie jewelry designers with very clean pieces. I'm in love with the midi rings that are so thin, they look futuristic. The prices are great, and some of the pieces are little more pricier but I'm sure that's because they are indeed unique pieces designed by real jewelry designers. I love that you can visibly tell that these aren't a bunch of wholesale pieces made in who knows where that fall apart after a few wears. If you can stop by. From what I can tell, products are a cross between mass-produced and independently produced. There is usually a clearance section, which is nice. But prices are really great anyways. Nooo, She's Unique is NOT closed!! Not sure why it's listed as so. This place is a hidden gem in Old Town, I came by one night and was greeted by a Welsh Corgi named Dolly. Not only is Dolly adorable but she is adorned in a wrap around pearl necklace. While talking to the owner (super nice!) and posing with Dolly in a picture (I'm a dork I know) I found a beautiful anklet for $50. I decided I would come back next weekend and purchase it since we were in a rush to catch the boat back to National Harbor. I ended up purchasing the anklet but found that I hardly wore it so I came back to do an exchange. No problems- and I came out with a beautiful two toned bracelet ($39 and 40% off) and a pair of silver CZ earrings that were so unique I had to have them. So far I've been back 4 times in less than a month, every time I head to Alexandria I have to come in and visit Dolly and her owner. Such a treat and so nice to meet someone who knows her jewelry. While the jewelery and sales people are nice and helpful, respectively, the store DOES NOT accept returns. There is no notice of this policy except in tiny print at the bottom of a hand written receipt with the credit card receipt stapled on top. Further, at no point while I was shopping for the jewelery did the salesperson mention in any way that the store has a no return policy. Now I'm stuck with jewelery bought as a gift that I can't give, and isn't my style so I won't wear. Very upsetting and not very accommodating. read more
