My goodness do I love Dr G and the entire hygienist team here. All of the staff here are friendly, and a big thank you for your kindness. Also adults such as myself get chewed up enough at work, to be lectured elsewhere, especially when it's dental time. Here there's none of that irritation, although teeth can be slightly in that fashion after a thorough cleaning. Pain is weakness leaving the body! Admittedly us cavemen aren't always the best with our pearly whites, but this fellow has high praise for their education. It's not pushy, but rather informative. Due to this practice, they planted a seed about teeth/gums and heart health. That's the kind of enlightenment you should get. Here Steve Martin isn't on the staff, but rather Dr G who is actually a really nice guy. Some orthodontists can have this attitude that negatively permeates a practice. That's the opposite here, as he's very genuine, and honest about what your options are. He's also quite funny, and having had novacaine I think it's called shots from him, he's far more gentle than others in the field. I highly recommend this dental office. It offers excellent appointment availability, short wait times, modern and clean facilities, and a top notch admin and clinical staff. The dental cleanings are thorough but the hygienists use techniques to minimize pain. The office also offers a full range of preventive care for adults beyond just fluoride treatments. This was one of the few places in the area that I could find that offered adult dental sealants. I switched to this dental practice this March because my previous dentist, whom I saw for about two years, was extremely focused on drumming up new business and, more importantly, seemed to find a suspiciously large amount of work I needed done (compared to my long-time previous dentist; I am blessed with excellent teeth). I am really happy I made the switch! The office is located in a strip mall in Burke Centre, and has plenty of parking and is easy to access. The interior space is very pleasant, soothing, and immaculate, perfect for a dental office. Better yet, EVERYONE who works here is very warm, helpful, and friendly. After my initial visit in early March of this year, I had to come back for some more work, and I'm happy to say that they cheerfully re-scheduled my appointment several times when the stay-at-home orders started for the coronavirus. When I finally went in towards the end of May, they had multiple precautions in place against the virus. Since I am an older adult, I really appreciated this attention to my health and that of others. My actual dental care was terrific. Both the hygienist and the dentist, Dr. Ghorbani, took time to explain everything to me. It turns out I needed a crown (my first one), but I was not surprised as it was for a tooth that I had suspicions about. Due to some tooth coloration issues, he had my crown made not at his usual lab, but at one somewhere out west that specializes in matching tooth enamel in appearance. He warned me that it was more expensive, but I felt that having a nice-looking tooth (you can see the crown with my normal smile) was worth it. As it turns out, the total bill for all the work, after my insurance paid, was much lower than I thought it was going to be! Character and General Standard of Care: The authentic, conscientious, and well-disposed nature of Dr. Ghorbani and all of the staff is something that I believe cannot be trained, and this core value is evident at every level. Beyond their exceptional level of skill and execution, it is clear their passion is to help others improve the health, care and appearance of one's teeth, and they spend time to educate and share their knowledge with their clients. They are amazing with children, offering kid appropriate movies to be displayed on the ceiling during visits and treating them like their own, which make my kids not want to leave. As soon as you walk in the door you know you are in a positive environment and the facility itself is well maintained, comfortable and contemporary. When it really counts: My daughter needed emergency service after having some of her permanent teeth knocked out on a playground, and they responded like it was their own family member. Dr. Ghorbani acted swiftly with all hands on deck and made my 10 year old feel calm, optimistic and beautiful during the traumatic event which is something we will never forget. Not to mention they are extremely sympathetic to parents - they eased our minds as best as possible by providing comfort in the situation, explained what was going on medically speaking, advised how to care for our child after trauma, offered advice and assistance on handling insurance, as well how they will help us through the next steps. I would recommend the professionals at Shield Dental and their establishment hands down. They are customer centric, family friendly, knowledgeable and caring, and it is obvious they are experts at their trade. I came in for an exam to find out if I needed a root canal done. The front desk staff and dental assistants were friendly, chatty, and put me at ease. They introduced me to the hygienist who was also kind. Unfortunately, they're not the ones who would have to take care of my primary dental needs. Dr. Ghorbani spent only 5 minutes between looking at my xrays and talking to me. He did not seem interested in listening to my concerns, and even seemed hurried. He didn't even seem confident he could do the root canal because my mouth is small. This may not deter other people, but I am new to the area and need a dentist who's going to patiently work with me through all the dental work I need, and that dentist needs to be patient, skilled, and with good bedside manner. The office takes a $100 deposit when you book appointments, which is then applied to your bill after your appointment. I found this odd since I've never had a dental office do this before. I had to lose the deposit when I decided to be seen by an endodontist instead. I'll be seeking out a different dentist for the rest of my care. Goes to show how important that first appointment can really be for a new patient! If I were only rating the dental assistants that took the time to get to know me and made me feel welcomed, I would've given them five stars! read more

The cleaning was fine, but I also received an estimate for a crown replacement (which I knew I needed). I submitted the estimate to my insurance company to see what the actual costs to me would be. My insurance company alerted me to the fact that I was being improperly asked to pay $250 for 'enhanced lab work'. All fees - even for enhanced work (porcelain upgrades, etc...) - were included in the costs negotiated by the insurance company and I could not be separately charged (unless I, for some reason, were to agree to it). Even the 'cost code' for the extra line item did not exist. I emailed, called, and texted with the office to get an explanation to no avail. Excellent customer service and affordable, too. I called needing a last-minute Saturday appointment for my husband flying in from Afghanistan after he'd lost a crown nearly two weeks earlier. Dr Ghorbani is truly amazing. He just does magic on your teeth. I went to him to get bracelets first and then to get veneers. My teeth looked really bad before which I knew it would be a long process to get it fixed. But thanks to his magic hands everything went very smoothly and perfectly. He had to do a surgery on my gum which went very smoothly and I didn't feel any pain after the surgery and the days after. Wasn't planning on coming back or writing a review until they decided to send me a passive aggressive email denying me future service because of "missed" appointments, which I canceled all of them back in Jan 2017 via phone after my 1st appointment in Nov/Dec 2016. So to send a passive aggressive email like that without trying to reach out to me unprofessional and a bad business decision. Reason for canceling all future appointments and the reason I don't plan to go back was their recommendation to do all this extra non-needed work would have cost well over $1000 after insurance. I went back to my original Dentist in Arlington for a second opinion and just to be sure even had a family member dentist provide his opinion which both disagreed and said Shield Dental's evaluation was incorrect and not needed. Staff is nice and friendly, office is clean and trendy, office equipment is probably one of the most advance of all the dentist I've been to. Definitely more pushy to the sell side of things rather than proposing options and providing pros and cons. TLDR: Make sure to get a second opinion before accepting any recommended procedures. read more

Best dentist in the Burke area hands down. Top to bottom thisnis a class A place. I have been to about 4 other dentist in the Burke area and this place blows them all away. I am terrified of dental work, but just had an extraction and implant done here and it was about as painless as can be done. My wife had a deep root cleaning and said the same thing. I have odontophobia and fear of dentists/orthodontists after years and years of painful work done by an old and not very nice doctor. My dental work started when I was 6. I had braces and a lot of stuff done. I tend not to go back unless NEEDED! That time came! Not having the ability to take time off work, I was looking for a dentist with Saturday hours. My sister saw Dr Ghorbani previous once so I decided to try him out. He worked me in so to my pain and figured out my problem. He was very nice and went over all my options- not pushing me in the most expensive direction - but showed care and concern about my whole dental health and not just the current pain. I opted for the more financially doable option which seemed the best for me. He and his office supported me and did not make me feel bad about not having the ability to do the expensive - best stuff. I felt cared for. When I went to have my tooth pulled everyone was great! They even called and checked up on me later! I have had over 10 teeth pulled - since 6 years old -that's the 1st time anyone checked on me! They had to research and work in my implant tooth since it needed to be restored - and they all took it in stride. They didn't give me a guilt trip or a hard time for neglecting the restoration but supported me in my goal and provided me with excellent and caring help. I even saw their dental hygienist Julie. The last one I saw ~4 years ago at another place had me in tears! Julie had me smiling and laughing! She loves her job and cares for you. After suffering from a dental emergency during memorial day weekend (when most dentist offices were closed), Shield Dental took me in on the weekend as a new patient with only a few hours advance notice. I had the unfortunate experience of chipping a tooth today, coupled with the poor timing of it being the afternoon of Thanksgiving-eve. I called my regular dentist office, whom said they were full and recommended I call a different, near-by office. I did so, and they rudely relayed they weren't aware they were supposed to be covering down for my dentist, and that they couldn't help me. With it being after 6pm at that point, I knew the odds of me suffering the holiday and weekend in pain were likely inevitable. I did some research on Yelp with hopes of finding a dentist office to try to call on Friday. I found Shield Dental was nearby and had the highest rated reviews in my area. I can't even imagine what kind dental god was shining down on me, but to my luck, they appeared to still be open. I made the call half-expecting they would be closed/working holiday hours. Nope, I was pleasantly greeted and by Layla and she took my concerns seriously and said the dentist would see me asap. I cannot duly express the relief her sincere consideration and friendly competence gave me. Dr. Ghorbani was waiting for me when I walked in the door; I was immediately taken back and made to feel welcome and comfortable. It was quickly apparent to me he held a wealth of knowledge, skill and professionalism. Furthermore, he was thorough, personable and had a gentle touch. Be aware They are unclear about the procedures prices, how much do you have to pay. Ask and make sure that you will not get fooled by them. They fooled me, I went last year they told me I have to pay $350 for the procedure. However, after a year I went for cleaning, they charged me $187 surprisingly. A relationship with a dentist is built on trust and performance, and I've been with Dr. Ghorbani for a few years now. He has recently opened up his own practice (State of the art!) and while it's a bit further out, I don't mind the 25 minute drive. I'm dedicated to his practice because I can trust him with my dental care, my financial wallet, my level of comfort, my future dental needs and all the while enjoy a trip to the dentist (we chat, joke, and laugh - he and the awesome staff are very personable!) A few weeks ago, an old crown had fallen out. When I showed up at the dentist office, Dr. G came out to say hi (My first visit to this new office) and I started to harass him. "How could your perfect work fall out?" He rushed me back to the chair to pull up my x-rays (all in a fun manner) to ensure it wasn't a tooth he had touched. And it wasn't so I had to eat a bit of humble pie! He was happy it fell out though, because he wanted to put a better looking crown in. So I endured the procedure and went back last week so he could set the permanent crown into the spot. When he did, he took an x-ray and noticed the mold was not perfect. And if it's not perfect, it's not going in my mouth. So, although I will be back next week for another attempt at setting the perm crown, it's just one of many examples of how he takes care in any and all of his work! He's a jokester and a care-taker. I'm never in any pain and I"m always relaxed and comfortable. The new office is pretty swanky and state-of the art. Once you sit down for your visit, you get your Netflix options of entertainment. Warning - do not watch the Wedding Singer if you will have electronics/tools in your mouth! The staff are down-to-earth, friendly and very well suited to work for Dr. G. I asked to check to see if I qualified for braces, they said they'd call me. I called a week later since I didn't receive a call, the female receptionist said she didn't know and it should be one more week. Waited that week, didn't get a call, waited one more week.. I called in again, 3 times, and all I got was the answering machine. At that point I left my third message and ended up saying to cancel all future appointments and to just forget it. A short while later I got a call with the male receptionist asking if I could reschedule my appointment........ that I had told them I didn't want anymore........ smh. No call to say even "look, sorry for the wait/inaccurate time frame given.. we're working on it" And they don't check their answering machine apparently. It wasn't so much the lack of getting the information I needed (whether I could get braces or not) but how they handled the situations at hand. Sucks. read more

I called at 1:30 in the morning in awful pain and got a human (and a nice one) on the other end of the call, and they got me in today to see what was going on. Painless sign in, nice people, respectful and caring about my anxiety. If I hadn't had a conflict I could've gotten a Saturday appointment to deal with my painful tooth, but I was able to get an appointment for next week. They are great about financial stuff too, which is a big change from where I was before. I need a ton of dental work and I was looking for a new dentist, plus someone for my kids, and I think I may have finally found a place that makes me comfortable. Yay! read more
