If I could give zero stars I would. Had in shop for 2 months, they had been paid but never touched my car, so I had to buy a new car, and still had a bank loan on this one, so now 2 insurance payments as well. One of their competitors called to encourage them to do the right thing and told them if the got a transmission from a dealership they would do some of the work since they don't even have the equipment to work on my particular transmission in the first place. So another month goes by and the competitor and the dealership ended up doing the actual work.Lesson learned. read more

Took my car in for a simple change of brake discs. They didn't grease the calipers or other parts, so the brakes now make more noise than before I took it in. When I brought it back in, they refused to put it up on the lift to check it. Doesn't help, I'm trying to sell it: with all that noise now, no one will touch it. Also, they're called Shifters, but when I asked, they said they don't do transmission work--go figure! read more

Stay away from this place. Do your research and you'll find out how many bad reviews they have. Yelp, Google, BBB... they also have been sued so many times. They had my truck for weeks and had to bring it back several times for transmission issues and it's still not fixed. Told me to rent a car as they made a mistake and they will pay the bill once my truck was done, guess what? $800 later in rental fees and they haven't given me a dime. Shifters is a place you definitely want to stay away from. They cannot be trusted. We took our car there in July of 2020 in January we started having issues so we took the car in to have warranty work done. They had the car for two and a half months and it is still not fixed. Would not take your car there unless you just wanna spend your money under false pretenses. They don't even have the tools required to rebuild a cvt transmission. Waste of $3400.00 read more

I had my transmission rebuilt there in 2021 on my 2004 chevy Tahoe. 10 months later I brought it back they rebuilt it again in March 2022. Now it's may 31st and it is in Aamco to get transmission rebuilt again. I'm not recommending that anyone should take there vehicle there for repairs. They are cheap because they do cheap work. read more

If I could give them a 0 I would. Went in yesterday (Thursday) inquiring about a u-haul for our move today. We reserved the 15 foot U-Haul, the gentleman took all of our information and told us that we were all set and could come pick it up anytime today (Friday). When we arrived to pick up the truck we were told that the man who does the U-Haul services went on vacation until Tuesday and there was nothing they could do! WHY WOULD HE NOT TELL US THAT WHEN WE RESERVED IT?! Moving is already stressful enough and now we're shit out of a truck midday on a Friday when we have to be moved out today. I would give Shifter a minus 0 if it was available. They test drove my daughters car and ran a red light. My daughter got a ticket and we brought it to them. They did not pay and my daughters license was suspended. Now her insurance rates have increased and its permanently on her record. I have given them a chance to remedy this to no avail read more

They are a scam scum company. My vehicle has been there since June and isn't fixed in December. They havent fixed it and are refusing to give me the owners information. They claim they don't have it. They were paid I took the truck one block down the road and it was pouring out fluid. they said it was fixed a second time I came back and it didn't shift out of 1st until 6k rpm. They took it back and the window got busted out somehow. They left it open exposed to rain and will not fix it. Avoid them!!! read more

I Dropped My Corvette off at Shifters Transmission early last week for a transmission rebuild. Placed my deposit, and was quoted $1200 for the rebuild. The vehicle has been torn down, and allegedly the transmission is rebuilt. I have been told story after story about why my Vette isnt ready for pickup. Supposedly my 700r4 transmission is somehow different from others and had some hard to find parts, seals, etc. (Which I KNOW is false) Every day the story has been different. I was told that the vehicle would be ready for pickup on Tuesday of this week. Each day it has been a different story. Finally, I was supposed to pick the car up at 4PM today, only to call Frank Briggs to be told that my transmission case had a hairline crack in it, still wont shift after rebuild and the case would be replaced free of charge and ready for pickup tomorrow yet AGAIN!?! Seriously Frank? I have now had to contact a lawyer... I have paid you in full for the work and parts, you've had my car for 9 days and have told story after story about why my vehicle hasn't been finished properly. I have a quote for 1200$ flat for a complete rebuild at a shop right up the road, I told you that when I brought it in, they quoted 3 DAYS! You added 200$ to the original 1200$ Quote, So 1400$ and 9 days later, my car still isn't done, and you're changing a matching numbers tranny housing... If my vehicle isn't ready for pickup tomorrow, and If I find that I purchased a junkyard transmission from you for 1400$, the next time we talk will be in front of a judge. I know that the 700r4 Kits come with ALL seals and Discs, bands etc. necessary for the rebuild. I know that the kit comes with the bigger bost pump, I know that the kit comes with the valve body, there are also kits that come with torque converters and stall kits similarly priced. The 700R4 is a VERY common transmission, with rebuild kits available ABUNDANTLY! I have had to call him to inquire about my vehicle every single time, not ONCE has he bothered to call me. I will also be contacting the BBB at this point. I could've purchased a performance transmission for the money I have paid him, and had it done already. I have been a mechanic the majority of my life, and I know when somebody is feeding me a line of bullshit. Stop bullshitting me dude, I paid good money for this job, and I'm fed up with you jerking me around. My review may change when and IF satisfactory work is completed. Shifter's Transmission Specialist is definitely not where you need to get your transmission fixed. They told us our work would be done on Friday. Friday they said it would be Saturday. Called to see if it was ready on Saturday and found out they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning we went to get the vehicle. It was still on the rack with no transmission in it. Did the mechanic apologize and offer a discount on the job? No, he copped an attitude when we complained about the job not being done as promised. Called from home Monday at 4. He said he was putting the fluids in and taking it for a test drive. We went at 4:45 to pick it up again. Mechanic had not put fluids in and had attitude again. They did bring out the fluids then and took it for a drive. Seems to be working. We'll see. Never going to use this place again. If you can't keep your word, how would I trust you with my vehicle. Add the poor customer service and we are done with this place. read more

STAY AWAY Took my car in for a leaking transmission. The estimate was $600. When I came to pick it up, the bill was almost $800. Including over $100 for transmission fluid. What repair of a leaking transmission does not include the fluid. When I complained that I only approved a $600 repair and no additional charges, they said that I was "mean". If you want to do business with 7th graders, who are dishonest then this is the place for you. read more

Nice enough people and they rebuilt my transmission for a fair price. However the rebuilt transmission didn't even last a full two years of low mileage use. And their quote for the second rebuild was the same price as the first. read more
