Elite was recommended by a coworker which was a relief to know. I met the owner Chris and immediately knew he was the right guy. Since meeting him I have him do most of my car maintenance and repair. He's always honest and forthcoming with work that needs to be done and work that can wait a bit. I typically pay him cash as he gives me a better deal. I spoke at length with Jodie at the end of Friday about having a used car that I was considering purchasing being checked out prior to purchase and he stated that for $70 his team would check it out. I arrived and spoke to the receptionist, Sherry, explained to her the above discussion with Jodie and she put my pertinent information into their computer system and I waited in a very comfortable waiting area. A soda machine was available and complimentary coffee was provided. There was a very friendly cat, and I believe it's smaller twin or offspring wandering about and happily enjoyed petting from anyone! My vehicle was reviewed and Russell, my mechanic took me back to the interior of the shop and explained to me that after his test drive he suggested a front wheel alignment and stated the front brake pads needed to be replaced. Final answer: My question as to whether to buy the car or not was answered as "Absolutely!" When Russell told me I could drive it out I told him that I owed the $70 inspection fee. He told me not to worry about it and I thanked him for his opinion and his grace! Bottom line, I was referred to this repair facility by friends who have used Elite Automotive for years. The last few times my parents have taken their car to this place it seems they're more interested in upselling unnecessary repairs rather than what the initial complaint was. Recently my 75yo mother brought her suv in for shaking. A $4k estimate later with no explanation, they listed a new turbo, spark plugs and valve cover gasket. All unrelated to the vibration issue and no explanation of what was found, and why the repairs were needed. FINALLY FOUND MY AUTO SHOP!!! Trustworthy mechanics with Quality work. On top of the quality work they are price friendly. Think it couldn't get better? They take responsibility!!! I went in a couple of weeks ago because I heard a grinding noise from underneath my truck. I can be paranoid and called back several times for updates. With the update I found out I needed 4 new u joints. Everything was repaired within the day and I had my truck back on the road. Fast forward a couple of days while driving to work my truck started violently shaking and then I heard something dragging. I coasted to a stop and noticed my drive shaft on the ground. Immediately I have my truck towed to elite. One of the U joints that was replaced failed and unfortunately damaged my driver shaft. Elite took full responsibility and immediately began looking for a newer/used driveshaft for me and said they will have it rebuilt and put on my truck as good as new. They couldn't find a newer used one so they just went ahead and bought a brand new drive shaft. I had my truck back within a week. I never had such an easy experience and friendly experience before in my driving life. They truly take care of you and will always be going back!! Didn't fix my issue after 3 visits costing ~$3000 and not having my truck for 2 weeks! I had to go to a different place to fix the issues they caused. I was promised an issue was fixed and I was left stranded on the side of the road multiple times because it wasn't. I had high hopes because my husbands company uses them for trucks, I should have used the companies name when I got there but of course I didn't. MISTAKE. It did not feel great going back again and again for the same mistake and leaving with more issues. One of the issues involved my oil filter being screwed on with some kind of tool too tight and was DENTED with oil just leaking out, the oil pan screws were also stripped. I was very disappointed. I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews but this caused so much distress. Car repairs are the worst thing to worry about! read more

My girlfriends truck was turning completely off when the truck would turn left when only going 5-10 mph when the truck was dropped off with specific detail stating the dashboard display would say sublitrack turned off as well it would say power assist steering is shut off drive careful. The first thing I was told by some genius there was "we need new tiress are bad". I asked him what about the struts? Said genius told me the shock and the strut are the same parts. At that point I simply refused to talk to said genius anymore and asked for someone in charge that I can speak with and was introduced to Chris the " owner". I spoke with Chris about our problems and informed him of everything that was going on and including what the genius had stated and Chris laughed as well and called.him Hector. Anyhow, I firmly stated to Chris we are new residents in Polk County and we.are.looking for a reliable shop and we wanted the entire truck checked out and we wanted a list so we could start at the main problems first and work our way down the chart. The next day we received a call from Elite stating our rack and pinion needed to be replaced.and that would cure our problem at a price of $2,200 with an alignment and muffler.system gaskets and seals replaced and tightened properly. We say go ahead and fix it. Chris himself.stated "my girlfriend has to be safe when she drives her truck" so I myself was definitely sold thinking the issue would.be fixed. After the weekend and on Wednesday we were told.to come pick up the truck its ready. We got there, paid there bill, went DIRECTLY to Discount Tire 4 miles away checked on tires and left there. I drove approximately 8 miles.from Elite Auto to Discount turned left and the truck turned completely off under an intersection. I took the truck back. I asked Chris to drive it himself. He drove it to a shop bay and discovered the truck was super low on oil (when have you ever taken your vehicle to a mechanic or mechanic shop and they didn't check your fluids!!!) He than informed.me.it felt.like it was missing , which tells me they never plugged the truck in to read what was going on. I was told.it should be ok now. I proceeded to drive home another 6-7 miles and the truck completely turned off on me at 45mph this time!!!! Now the initial problem we took the truck to Elite to be fixed is worse and shutting down at high speeds not just low speeds... I called.after hours yesterday and left 2 messages for someone to call me back and heard nothing as of today. As I waited for said call today I took the truck to another shop, they plugged it in right in front of me and told me there is a low voltage problem causing the truck to turn itself of and reset itself.... 5 min, $150 battery...... Not 5 DAYS $2,200 Yes.. Elite fixed "a" problem on the truck. No... They didn't fix "the" problem the truck was brought in for and didn't not return customers calls. I have taken several vehicles to Chris and his team. He has always taken care of me, been honest, done great work, and gone out of his way to help. There have even been times when I stopped by with a small issue that he fixed for free right there in the parking lot. My most recent visit was to get some work done on an old Tahoe I bought. When I realized that it needed some suspension work done, and I thought about driving my children around in my car, I thought of Chris immediately. I had moved to Tampa, and was over an hour away from his shop. I drove my Tahoe to his shop and paid $40 to get an Uber back home because there was nobody available to help me get it there. I did the same when the truck was done. I knew Chris would take care of it and make sure that my vehicle was safe without trying to convince me that there were other things that needed to be done. I just got my truck back and completed a 12 hour trip with it to Kentucky. Told them needed ac clutch replaced. A/C would come on then go out and randomly back on. Was told they needed to be the ones to diagnose it to make sure. Then after we had them diagnose it and it was the ac clutch. Told us they couldnt warranty just that as they recommended a complete ac system replacement 1100.00 quote. Even though we just had compressor that is under warranty from previous mechanic less than 2 yrs ago. Said could change just clutch with no warranty for 300.00 Decided to go with clutch replacement as my husband has been in ac business for 40 yrs. We were told about an hour to do job. I dropped off truck to be told it would be ready by lunchtime. I called at 2pm and was told wrong part was ordered they were waiting on correct part should be done by closing time. Went down to get truck after getting the call it was ready. When I arrived the office people said they could not give me a receipt as lightening hit their computer. I asked if I could at least take a picture with my phone. The girl asked the guy and was hesitant but said ok. They would email me one once computers were fixed. Still never recieved one. Literally 1/2 mile down road truck a/c went out! Same problem and now 300.00 later. I immediately called and was told well that was the risk I took as they said no warranty!! I could not believe they literally told me this! Matt called my husband to say the entire system was fouled, and compressor was fried. Needed entire system replaced 1100.00 Well that we knew was not the case. It did come on and go off randomly. Same thing it was doing before we took it in to them. After literally googling the issues, and ZERO MONEY, we found the issue, a simple adjustment. One that any mechanic SHOULD KNOW, and surely one should complete when changing out an a/c clutch!!! Went to Elite 2 times for Wheel bearings for my car. The right side done in Jan had to be re-done again in November because noise was still present yet when I brought it back 2 times was told by mechanic yes I heard a little noise yet not to worry give it time to see if it persists. Then I returned to Elite in August for left wheel bearing. Total cost for both was almost $500.00. November rolled around and made another apt for rear struts and an oil change and had asked for right wheel bearing to be replaced since the noise was getting worse as time went on. Apt was for a monday yet car over heated while traveling back from Sarasota on the Saturday prior so car eventually was towed to the garage. Mechanics could not find any reason it overheated, I specifically asked them to check everything because if my car needed something I would do it because a few weeks later I was driving to South Carolina and did not want to get stuck on the road alone with broken down car. They stated thermostat was fine, radiator had fluid (I had new radiator and fans put in 2 yrs ago) so that could not be problem either). Mechanic claimed thermostat was opening and it was likely a bubble of air I was told. I said could it be the water pump, he said if that was not working car would overheat now and is not. Yet nobody ever took for a test drive even after they do work on cars? Bad business!. A month later I left Florida to head to SC, while I was driving I noticed same sound now coming from left wheel which made me very nervous so I pulled off in Georgia to get gas and check it out. Of course I am a women not skilled in car repairs so I had hoped it was nothing serious and would address when I get to SC. Started up car and as soon as I put it in drive, car overheats. Now I have 2 issues while traveling. I saw a autozone place up road, pulled in and the guy checked radiator and said your fluid is low and nothing in reserve! I was like hmm Elite said it was fine and they checked my fluids last month. He knew it was not radiator since it was new and both fans were running so he said could be thermostat yet again I said no they said it was working. Perplexed the guy filled up fluid and car seemed to be ok yet he said keep an eye on it and pull over if it overheats. For the next 3 hrs, I drove highway did not use any heat or A/C since car was unstable. YET the moment I got off the highway onto a local road, car overheats again. I am grateful my parents called to see where there was a garage since I am new to area and was told a Honda dealer was about 20 miles north. Called for a tow and car went to dealer. Honda, adjusted the left wheel bearing for 128.00 and installed a thermostat for 104. yet stated my car was leaking oil Im thinking omg what now. I said I will have that looked into when I get to SC. I am grateful it happened when it did since the remaining 4 hrs was a small non lit road with very little traffic in pitch black. When I got settled in few weeks later, there is oil in my garage floor. My handyman checked fluid stick and stated its over filled. I called office an told Michelle everything that took place, she said send me receipts after u take to a mechanic and Ill see what I can do. Next day I took to mechanic here in SC, I need a water pump, oil change which elite did was filled more than car required and other aspects yet not related to Elite. I reached out to Michelle in office, she asked for receipts, I sent her them. 1 week passes after receipts given only to be told we are not refunding me for anything, (thermostat which was obvious since they did not install) YET no refund for adj left wheel bearing, towing OR oil change) Business stated they would of done work, HOW? WHEN? I was not going back to FLA any time soon. Bottom line is garage is too busy to care for cars with attention to detail or accuracy and mechanics must be inexperienced in the field. Owner Mark seems to feel, get them in an out, that is why they are so busy and cars all over. As a women who maintains her car impeccably was taken back.
