I ordered sesame chicken and my chicken was a little fatty. I enjoyed the egg roll & hot tea. My sister was not happy with with her sushi order so she asked if she could order something else. The server/owner was very rude and argued with her about the taste of the sushi. She took her new order (teriyaki shrimp) and my sister said it was really good. The server then had a loud argument with the chef and he walked out. She then finished cooking the dish. As I paid for the meal, I told her she should not have been so rude to my sister, and she again argued with me about the taste of the sushi. I also complained about how she and the chef had yelled at each other. I told her that was not the way to do business. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant again. read more

This is the best Chinese food I've had in Birmingham area. It's in a cute little hole in the wall place.

Maybe we went on a bad night . Our party of 4 had two chicken dishes and some sushi . First was Mongolian Chicken - it was overcooked , overloaded with onions , and did not look like any Mongolian style dish that we had ever seen. The second Chicken dishes was actually a Chicken/Steak veggie Teriyaki . The Chicken and Steak were both overcooked . The ac wasn't working very well. The chairs were very difficult for the two elderly people in our party to pull up and push back to/from the table . The Sushi wasn't the worst in town . It just didn't stand out and would not warrant much of travel time at all. The staff was nice however just not enough to return . read more

We recently moved, and needed to find a local Chinese restaurant. We are so glad we found Shiki Sakura! The food is full of flavor and never disappoints. This time we had the general tsos shrimp and scallops and a sunshine roll. The shrimp and scallops comes with broccoli, and has the perfect amount of batter. The sunshine roll was my first taste of mango in a sushi roll. It was really good! The restaurant is family owned. They are the sweetest. I will definitely be back. read more

So.... I've lived here for 3 years and tried this place several times. Their sashimi has been mediocre at best and the Chinese is overly sweet and nowhere near authentic. This is the best Chinese cuisine restaurant I've been to. They even have the hello Kitty themed Japanese sodas in the fridge there. If you want convenient takeout this is the best place. The restaurant is owned by a couple and the wife is so nice she memorized my order. Every time I went there I got vegetables because I was vegan but recently I'm no longer vegan and when I ordered chicken she brought me vegetables and I was like OK I can't complain because that's amazing that she remembered that. My husband and I decided to venture out and try a new place. We ordered the general tso shrimp and the Mongolian beef. The shrimp and scallops were a sloppy, syrupy mess that tasted like seafood donuts and that's not a taste you want to have. We had to eat around the Mongolian sauce bc they dish was also swimming in syrup. Then we decided to order something else after explaining we just couldn't stomach it. A simple chicken and veggie dish was brought to us, and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. We generally go to the red Pearl and love Chinese. The server accused us of not really liking Chinese cuisine! They brought the bill and all of our dishes were on there. After further complaining, we decide to just pay and she decided to take off $10.00 off. What a joke! So, if you even remotely like Chinese food, your health, and your money.... You have been warned. Oh, Shiki Sakura. I wanted so badly to like you. You're just a short walk from my office, but I hope to never make that walk again... I'll admit that I hadn't eaten here in 2+ years. I had experienced too many long waits to pick up my to-go orders and witnessed too many people pull hair out of their food (including myself), but I thought that things might have changed over these past two years. Sadly, I was wrong. I opted to get a fried sushi roll today, and it may be one of the worst I have ever tasted. The roll was meant to be fried, but there is barely any batter on the outside of the roll...leaving me with a crunchy, oily mess. I just had a co-worker walk to my desk and ask if I was eating french fries, because the oil smell is that strong. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but if you can't get the sushi right, I won't be coming back.
