The entire bed, handles headboard, mattress had salvia embedded into the plastic We witnessed a patient in a wheelchair with bloody toes on both feet with a pair of dirty booties. He indicated that the nurse would not give him batteries for his hearing aid or stop the bleeding. Most importantly on the day of his arrival in order to receive care the social worker had our family to attest that Knollwood was his primary residence in order to receive payments from and to Medicare and Blue Cross. As of today it's been 5 months since leaving Knollwood continues to submit invoices for services to Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield and Knollwood continues to bill and is receiving payments. Knollwood presents itself as a prestigious rehabilitation facility but in fact patients that should be in memory care and acute long term care are put on the same floor as those who are short term rehabilitation care. How are they getting away with billing insurance companies and sending payments, both to a nonprofit and for profit company which all of Knollwood intake documents are specifically for Military Families Members While in Knollwood our family kept their outside doctors and upon leaving we were given a slip for his doctors to sign. We learned on the day we were leaving noticed that from our outside doctor evaluation reports were put on-transferred onto Knollwood treating doctors medical history and recorded as if Knollwood was the doctor treating our love one. As a caregiver having had to endure overwhelming pressure and with the staff of unqualified doctors and nurses, some that couldn't understand English did not give and correct dosages of medication and could not interpret the diagnosis therefore his medication prescribed was not given throughout the 21 days such that we received calls each morning to tell us that they were trying to kill him and because the three types of medications were to keep him alive. At the hands of Knollwood was something like a SYFI movie. The staffing communications were a joke and the conditions were horrific which caused a tremendous amount of anxiety.

They think nothing of serving potatoes, rice, and pasta in the same meal, meats are tough and have no gravy/sauce, instead of broccoli florets they serve the stems, and spices or herbs are never used. We have three menus. A weekly menu handed out at the beginning of each week, a menu from which we choose our food at lunch and dinner time, and the unnamed menu consisting of whatever is available, which is often not what was listed in either of the other two menus. The waiters are excellent, friendly and helpful, and even they recognize the poor quality of the food. The food situation is very unfortunate, since the place could not have a better location. Two and a half blocks from Metro and Whole Foods, two blocks from the public library and CVS, also about the same distance from Target (which also has a CVS, so we have two within walking distance), The Container Store, and Ace Hardware; still very much a residential area with 100-year-old houses that have gorgeous gardens and huge, ancient trees. Several churches are within walking distance, as well as a few restaurants (Indian, Middle Eastern, Mexican). Residents are quite diverse and friendly. Some of them have been here for years and are always cordial and helpful. I wish they would do something about the food! My understanding is it used to be good, and when I first came it was still fairly so. I have no idea what happened.

I've toured several senior residences in the DMV with a view toward my golden years. Seabury has a classic (and classy :) ) design and modern amenities. The constant care of the building is visible in freshly painted corridors and apartments, clean and fluffy carpets and polished wood. The apartments are cozy and bright due to fresh fixtures and floor to ceiling windows and have great walk-in closets.Workers were on duty during my tour making the latest updates! The residents seem relaxed and content enjoying gardening, soaking up sun (there's a sunroof!), walking around the lovely residential neighborhood and gathering in groups for games or friendly chats. Scheduled of interesting activities are posted everywhere. I'd love to live there.

There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. Visits from family members are easily scheduled. It's a good place.

I arrived 15 minutes early for my scheduled 11:30 AM interview and waited without any communication. After reaching out, I was told the interviewer was 'on the way,' however, she never showed up. Instead of acknowledging the situation, I was later told that their time was wasted, which was surprising given that I was early, punctual, and prepared. I understand that patient care comes first, but basic communication and respect for a candidate's time should still be maintained, especially in a leadership role. This experience reflects poor professionalism, lack of accountability, and disregard for others' time. I would not recommend applying here if you expect clear communication and respect. "Do not apply here proof is in the pudding!!!" Look at the times as well as she say two minutes which led to 25-30 extra weight time and she's rude to me?? Maybe a hotel? Turns out, this event was hosted on the rooftop balcony party room of a...wait for it... senior living community. Huh??? This is not your average senior living community with the old carpet, weird smells, poor lighting and 1970s library furniture. No, no, no. This place is super upscale. Could easily be a new apartment building in some hipster neighborhood. Apparently they opened four months ago and they are in a marketing partnership with the Alexandria Chamber to help promote their facilities to seniors 62 and up. They have three restaurants, a game room, a movie theater, pools tables, wrap around panoramic city-view balcony, and a bunch of other stuff that would make anybody not be too upset to live here - regardless of age. The food was provided by the in-house chef, who made an appearance on season 2 of Pitmasters. He prepared some lobster rolls, quesadillas, and three signature drinks for all of us mixer guests. I went back several times for refills + more food, lol. They had a full bar too. Not that I plan to hang out here, but I wasn't mad at the networking, the views, or the food.

I and the rest of my 91 year Mom's progeny are very grateful she decided to retire from New York…read more nearly ten years ago before Mom thought she was ready for a retirement community. She chose to buy into Collington Life Care Community http://www.collington.com/ [non-profit CCRC] in [Mitchellville/Bowie, Md] in suburban Washington, D.C. Right away Mom plunged into lots of activities, planted the garden around her gracious cottage, took exercise and literature classes from Prince Georges Community College, on Collington Campus, and made friends with other active retirees and the very caring staff. She didn't partake of birdwatching, vegetable gardening, swimming, nearby golf courses, and some other outdoor activities. She chose to take on leadership roles in the Collington community and delivered Meals on Wheels. http://keepingupwithcollington.org/ When she broke her hip she was received rigorous and effective rehab while temporarily resident in the health center. When we 'made her' give up her car she was able to get to the Metro, shopping, doctors' appointments, Kennedy Center, Arena Center, and more via the Collington shuttle. When she had a small stroke she again moved back to he health center to receive rigorous rehab. Now she is back in her cottage, this time with a few hours of aides to help keep up her activities. Now as we spend more time walking the halls and grounds with her it's so gratifying to encounter numerous friends among the residents and staff who cheer on her recovery. I wish such stimulating, safe, and nurturing communities would be accessible for the growing upcoming senior population.

She lived in a beautiful cottage where birdwatching, gardening, music, walking her dog and making new friends filled her days. Using Collington transportation she had season tickets for the opera, the symphony, Arena Theater as well as enjoying many other cultural events at Collington and beyond. My 3 siblings and I fell in love with Collington's embrace of our mother and willingness to allow us to fully participate in Mother's life. In many, many ways through the years it became obvious to us that Collington valued its residents and wanted to encourage family involvement. The fabulous Sunday brunches, instituted by the head of dining services, Eli Ayoub are one of many examples. On any given Sunday one sees dozens of families, including children, grandchildren, even great-grandchildren enjoying the brunch together, feeding ducks on the lake. In these past two years, after a nasty fall, our mother was confined to assisted living. The care she received on Chesapeake was always compassionate and respectful. We grew to love each and every one of her caregivers. Again, we were encouraged to be there as much as possible. When the final days arrived our large family did vigil for a week. Instead of encouraging us to limit our visits, Eli arranged for a large hospitality tray to be delivered outside
