The caregivers and therapists are kind, skilled, and massively overworked, but the management is completely disorganized, leaving dangerous gaps in overall patient care. My father's call button did not work; when he was discharged his prescriptions were submitted incorrectly and then canceled, so we had no way to access his critical medications; follow-up care, which was supposed to be arranged by them, was delayed by days. Importantly, as we tried to deal with this cascade of issues, no one answered the phone or would reply to an email. Completely irresponsible, and unworthy of the people who do the bulk of the labor there every day. read more

Inglesiide has 3 choices for dining each evening. Staff is accommodating and recognizes those who have made reservations first. Elizabeth's parents may have had a bad day. It happens but staff do theiir best to help and offer choices. they are kind and reespectful. i can say the variety of food choices, the care of the servers, and the dining atmosphere is wonderful. Yes staffing has been a challege but we see help wanted signs on many restaurants too. read more

My parents live at Ingleside. It used to be nice. But things have gotten bad. Their contract includes served dinners in the dining but now residents are turned away from the dining room because they haven't hired enough cooks and servers. Even when they can get a table, the service is terrible. It is utterly unacceptable and getting worse. read more

This review is for an elderly family member's stay in rehab. The huge problem with Ingleside Rock Creek is with the aides that perform the vast majority of the face-to-face work with residents. With the exception of two male aides who were great, the rest were far below mediocre. Even though the facility claims the response time is 15 minutes, there were multiple occasions where the wait exceeded an hour and even more where the wait exceeded 30 minutes. In one instance, I arrived at the facility to see my loved one in anguish waiting for help after having sat in filth for over an hour. Meanwhile, the two aides on call were on their phones in the common room doing absolutely nothing. If I was not regularly at the facility to keep an eye on things and advocate for my family member, things would have been even worse. The majority of the aides appear disinterested and seem bothered when you ask them to do their jobs. I believe a lot of them are independent contractors, which is part of the "don't care" problem. If you are considering Ingleside, you will need to keep a close eye on your loved one to ensure they are getting appropriate care. My family member has mobility issues but still has her wits about her. I would be very worried for patients that could not speak for themselves. My loved one is now at a (less expensive) facility, where the aides are absolutely amazing. As for the good: the room and facilities are great, as were the therapists, nurse practicioner and doctor. They are the only reasons that I gave any stars. read more

Do not send a loved one to this skilled rehab. We had my 87-year-old father here in April for three weeks, and it was dangerous, scary, and the single worst rehab he has ever been in. There is NO staff, and no one knows what is going on. There is a language barrier, and the call buttons do not work. The entire staff is inept. This is storage for people, and you will love it if that is what you want. My father was a fall risk, and they had no call button working and gave him 20 ft of oxygen tubing to walk around with. If my father had a problem, no one would know. There is no staff except for some kids in the kitchen. There is no rehab component to this. My father had PT twice in three weeks. They do not care about people. They are confused and messed up with meds. They bathe you once a week. This place should be shut down until they get their act together. read more

Even one star is more than they deserve. This is a fancy rehab center that doesn't do rehab and doesn't have enough staff assigned to patients. (They do have a top-heavy bureaucracy, however.) In direct contravention of post-surgical orders, they left me, helpless, in the same position for hours on end. Do not go there if you really need rehab and/or take it seriously or if you can't take care of yourself. They'll feed you, and that's about it. This place is a terrible example of a retirement home. The top management is completely incompetent and inept, the buildings are in disrepair, except for the shiny new buildings which are way over-priced for terrible food and services. Seniors in the DC-Chevy Chase area, please shop around and find other places and avoid this place. They will sucker you into taking your money, and then you will regret your move forever! read more

After a long battle with internal bleeding my mother had surgery at WHC and was released to Ingleside. My sister and I had done extensive research on the rehabilitation for her care and decided that is where we wanted her to go for rehab. The admissions person Damon was very helpful in getting us a bed. He kept in constant contact with us and the hospital to follow up on my mom's hospital release date to help make it a smooth transition, and on Ingleside's end it was a smooth transition. After my mom was situated at Ingleside she constantly complained about stomach issues and nausea. The nursing staff followed up with their normal intake procedure but did not ignore my mom's medical concerns. They took extra care and time with her to make sure she would be ok and that she wasn't just experiencing a change of location issue. They discovered that she had a high fever and her pressure had dropped dramatically since she arrived and she began to vomit. The staff immediately contacted the WHC and my moms doctors to let them know she was still too ill to have been released and needed care immediately. Their professionalism and care saved my mothers life. I can not thank them enough for all that they have done. A year later my mom is doing extremely well. Had it not been for this facility it may have gone a different way. read more

Ingleside is in a very attractive location, right in Rock Creek Park. The residents are interesting, well-educated socially active people. The buildings are reasonably well kept, though the management has been slow to fix problems the last several years. The front line staff in independent living are usually pleasant, though staffing levels have been falling and it is beginning to show. The dining room is about like what you find at a mid-level hotel. Nothing exceptional with middle American food. Entrees tend to be bland and over-cooked, with some exceptions. There is a lot of turnover with the wait staff and it can take a long time to get server. The nursing center has been declining for the last several years. It is one of the most expensive options in the area, but the quality of care is poor. Again, the low pay leads to significant turnover, and the staff are overworked and can be very short-tempered. The management is very disorganized and has trouble keeping track of medication and paperwork. Our family has experienced episodes where it took far longer than it should have for a caregiver to respond to a fall. If you are considering Ingleside BE SURE to talk to as many residents as possible, and in particular family members of residents of the nursing center. Ingleside is NOT the same place we moved into some years ago, and we will be moving out. read more

There is no way to call your relative when they are staying in short-term rehabilitative care. The general operator will put you through to the nurses' station where they don't always answer the phone. You can't leave a message. Your only option is to keep calling until the nurses decide to answer the phone, which seems to irritate the general operator. Now, I understand that the nurses should indeed be focused on their care of their patients. But this very expensive retirement company should be able to come up with a better system for connecting residents with their family members, especially at a time when they are sick. This place is not managed well. read more
