I strongly recommend Peter who is only available on Saturdays. I have followed Peter for 45 years. Once, after someone else had been cutting my hair for a while, I returned to Peter, and when I went to work the next day, someone who did not know me that well said, "Great haircut! You used to wear your hair that way." I thought that if someone who did not know me that well could tell the difference, this is the man who should be cutting my hair forever. Cosmo cut my hair. It was so choppy I had to go to another salon to have it blended. That hairstyle said my hair looked like it was cut with an axe!! So I paid for a terrible haircut from Cosmo and paid to have it recut! I showed Cosmo a picture of what I wanted. My haircut looked NOTHING like the picture. SO.. I don't recommend Cosmo!! read more

I have been going to Marina for over 7 years. After moving to Manhattan I still go back to Commisso whenever I am in the area. Marina is absolutely the best with layers. I had thick long hair and she has styled it beautifully both at long and medium lengths. She pays great attention to detail and makes sure everything is even. The blow out is fantastic and she knows what she is doing. Every time I get my bangs re-cut she does an excellent job - I have gotten compliments on the street and referred her to several friends! Some of the stylists here having been working 20+ years so they know what they are doing. It is a good price and very good service. read more

I remember once when I lived in New York for Nicole year, I have been seeing it a lot of time when I walk by.. the I wish I would have came for hair coloring even I didn't have $$$ for coloring my hair when I was 18 tears old... at front desk people was so sweet and down to earth.... This is the best place to get your hair done on the North Shore. The minute I walked into Shine, I was warmly greeted by Janine, who could not have been nicer or more helpful. After answering a few questionsI had about the salon, she escorted my mother and me to our respective appointments. My mother had an amazing haircut by Cosmo which makes her look and feel like she had just returned from a spa in Europe! My haircut was with Marina who is the only person in I don't know how many years, that knew exactly how to cut and style my hair! Marina took the time to listen to and address all of my concerns while putting me at ease and making me smile. My hair has never looked so fantastic! I am already booking an appointment this week for highlights! The atmosphere is warm, inviting and classy while all the employees are professional and lovely. Shine is a true gem!!!! This week I returned to Shine for highlights. Although I was a bit nervous, as I haven't highlighted or colored my hair in years, as soon as I walked into the salon, the entire staff made me feel at ease. Veteran colorist extraordinaire, Stephanie talked with me to find out exactly what I wanted and then explained what she was going to do. I cannot stress how wonderful and important this part was and is to me as many past colorists have done whatever they wanted and then I was left with the a disaster scene of hair I would have to get re-colored at the same or another salon. Stephanie worked quickly while making me smile at the same time. The result? Gorgeous hair! The highlights came out better than I could have imagined. I don't usually review businesses but this one is special. I've been going to my colorist, Maria, for about 11 years now. I originally came in as a stupid 13 year old who died her hair a dark purple after making her hair a nasty orange color! 3 hours and a sore neck later my hair color was back! Since then I've been going to her for my highlights, and never looked back. So besides Maria, what is different about this salon? Well for one the customer service, they actually really care and are genuine. I've been to other salons where the receptionist seemed fake and completely uninterested. But when you love your job and what your doing, being a pleasant kind person comes easily. Another reason I love this salon is that they don't overbook. One time I won a free cut and style to a top salon, they didn't know I had a gift certificate, but the stylist worked on me and 3 other people at once! Each stylist here gives their client their undivided attention and I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more
