Charles is the best!! Brides!!! Great Neck and all brides do not even consider booking with anyone else other than Charles! If you have super sensitive or horrible skin he is the best! He did both my sisters' weddings and his work is beyond flawless and very very professional. He is a true artist and very talented! He goes above and beyond. When my sister's veil got left behind and we only found out when everyone was seated for the ceremony you can imagine everyone was panicked and hysterical. Charles was the only one who remained calm, ran out to the florist to grab toule, and started sewing up a veil!!!' Things naturally go wrong at weddings and when they do this is the person you want on your team. He is a human being, he will make you laugh, and he is just there for the bride. He stays calm when everyone else is panicked. He is a wedding savior!! And his work is so so good from the hair to the makeup! and wow wow does he know how to make eyes pop! My wedding was last minute so Charles was booked by then. He came in early just to work on me! My biggest regret was that I didn't have him the whole day. He asked me what I wanted and I just said Charles you know what you're doing and you're good at it. Just do your thing. I gave him zero instructions. As a bride to be able to sit back and relax with something so so important is such a gift! And I have very very sensitive and difficult skin! Acne marks and scars, oily, flakey, mature skin. All makeup cakes and separates on me. I have pores. Etc. and my lips I'm allergic to everything but Vaseline. I stupidly a week before my wedding used a minty balm on my lips and by wedding day my lips were dry flaking and cracked. CHARLES IS A MASTER OF HIS MAKEUP!! MY SKIN AND LIPS WAS FLAWLESS!! He did a combo of airbrush and other things. Keep in mind I didn't even go in for a trail as I just didn't have the time in my schedule. My skin was flawless!!!! My eyes my oh my does he have a way of making eyes just pop so beautifully! Makeup was lightweight, natural, eye popping. And my lips..... I bought his lipstick and clear gloss and zero reaction. If you have allergic or sensitive skin his products are for you! My sister also has lip allergy and she only uses Charles products. My makeup lasted to the end of the night with minimal touch ups. To be clear, he is an expert and an artist for both bridal makeup and hair. He doesn't need instructions for hair or makeup. And he will do two hair styles regardless of the time it will take. What a disappointment. Went at the recommendation of an acquaintance as I've only lived here a year, and it can be hard to find a salon you can trust. This is not that salon. I arrived early at 3:35 for a 3:45 appointment, and was taken right in for a wash (which was great). The cut followed immediately, and my stylist (Steven) had me stand for my haircut, which I've never done before but he tells me it's the best way. OK, sure. He proceeds to give me the fastest cut ever (done by 3:47) and tells me his "assistant" will be over to dry my hair, after which he will check on it to see if anything needs touching up. Not ideal, since I booked a cut and blowout with him, but sure, OK. I waited for about ten minutes for said assistant. Unfortunately, when the assistant arrived, it became painfully obvious that he had little to no training or experience. He had trouble just sectioning and clipping wet hair, let alone actually blowing it out or styling it in any way - no product or anything. About 15 minutes into this mess, Steven returned and literally explained to his assistant and showed him how to properly dry hair. I do not understand a) why you would train someone on a new customer, or b) why you would train someone without asking, or letting that person know they were getting a newbie. From what I've now read, Steven's main bag is color - and that's cool - he also gave me a great haircut, so I got half of what I paid for. It would have been better had someone steered me toward a more appropriate stylist when I made the appointment, knowing I was new to their salon (they confirmed as much when I checked in on arrival). It's fine if someone would rather focus their attention on color clients, but don't book a cut AND blowout just to disappear for half of that service to finish someone else's dye job. Not cool. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with the whole experience and will not be returning. I left a comment on their website last week (before taking immediately to Yelp), hoping that perhaps someone would reach out to at least apologize, but no dice. read more

I had a "blow out" this week for a party. This was the worst blow out I've ever had. I would never go back there. I threw my money in the toilet. He took all of my hair and put it in round brush at once. My hair was flat and frizzy. I could have done it better myself. I wanted to treat myself and instead I had to have it redone. I recently went to VS1 salon with a groupon for a $19 Brazilian wax (my first time ever getting one!) Victoria did a great job of making me feel comfortable with an otherwise uncomfortable process. She was very attentive to my pain (it was painful!) and she did a thorough job. I tipped her $20 because of how great of a job she did. I will definitely be back in 4-6 weeks for another Brazilian. I had heard great things about Val- so when I was looking for a hairdresser for my wedding, I booked an appointment to get my hair done to try him out. My appointment was on a Thursday and it was still pretty busy in there. I told the receptionist that I had an appointment with Val, but she put me with one if the assistants to blow my hair. After a whole, I realized that the blow out was taking forever and although he was done, he kept playing around with my hair- i was in the chair for an hour and half. I went to the receptionist and told her that I wanted to see Val and she was nasty to me and told me he wasn't available. It wasn't until I made a scene that Val showed himself and didn't even bother to apologize to me and sat me in his chair for literally 10 mins, gave me an updo without asking what I wanted and kicked me out. And he had the nerve to charge me$150!!!! I made it clear to him that he lost me as a client and have not stepped foot in that place since. I called in and was put on hold for 5 minutes so I hung up called back right after and then the phone was finally answered. I was told that only Steven would be available for a haircut all day so I agreed. Steven was rude and spent less than 10 minutes cutting my hair. He also cut off way more than I asked him to. Then I didn't want to blow it out after but he said that he told me, "No. You HAVE TO so I can see if it's GOOD" So then a different lady blew my hair out and she was nice. After, Steven didn't even look at me to see if it was "good" which was the reason he insisted I get it blown out in the first place and I had to pay an extra $20 on a blowout that I didn't want.
