I suppose it depends what your purpose is here as there is a boat ramp for you to use but as far as something being really unique I don't quite see it. There is some decent views here of the water which are nice however the pier that usually seems available to walk on was closed. It stated on a sign that it was closed due to an emergency of some sort so perhaps something structurally is wrong with it. Anyway Mystery Bay just ended up being a whistle stop for us and we continued our way back to Port Townsend after a great visit at Fort Flagler State Park.

Great place to bring dogs for a romp in the beach which isn't very busy cause most of the park activities take place above the cliff. Camping. Playground .fields. Some of the RV sites are very small (sites 1-3) but still easy to navigate a rig into it. We were in site 2 and we barely had much room for chairs outside. And we could literally reach over and touch site 3s RV. The other RV sites (4-8) are roomier but shorter. They are divided by a wooden fence so it felt like being in a corral. Only a few of the RV spots have sewer at the site., which was surprising since a lot of the state parks have soldered them closed. There is no main sewer dump (there used to be one but it is no longer working) but you are allowed to pull in and dump sewage in an empty site if one is open. The park itself is very well maintained but not much in the way of trails. There are several large grassy areas and a playground. The park is super easy to get to and the staff were very friendly. Definitely not my favorite for camping but it would do in a pinch when we just need a change of scenery.

This campground was small and quiet, and matched with the beautiful views it was really enjoyable. There are only around 30 sites here, squished between the coast and the main road. Each one has a bunch of space, though, and some privacy behind trees and bushes. There's a tent pad, picnic table, and fire pit at each site, although we were there during a fire ban. There was a nice bathroom that's an easy walk from any site, and a couple picnic pavilions as well. You can head to the Olympic trail from this campground, which stretches for a few hundred miles. You can also walk down to a boat launch and take in the view by the water. We were really pleased with this beautiful quiet campground and it was a great way to start our trip.

Based on what I saw and did there with a friend, I wouldn't go back, as my main goal is to be and appreciate the beach. This park has tennis courts, basketball court, and ball fields, along with 3 rec areas for rent for a group. You will have to pay to camp/RV here and showers. There's a paved trail. Dogs are allowed but have to remain on leash.

A mix of the kayak not enclosing legs plus paddle just scooping up water. Unsure if my bad form or diff kayak shape than used to.

Finally, we reached a small parking lot in a wooded, grassy area on a hill that overlooked the water. There was a stairway down to the water. The stairway has seen better days and given how slippery it was, a number of us decided to stay on the hill. Some of our group ventured down on the floating dock which was about as wobbly as the stairs. The dock was a nice setting for some beautiful pictures! This is a nice park for a picnic, to eat your lunch in the car, or to have a few minutes of peace to yourself.

We just tooled around a bit in the Fort Flagler area, very easy kayaking.

Great nature park with lots of trails and places to walk, run, or bike. There are two parts, one is…read moreacross the street with parking and an area with a slight waterfront scenic trail to a picnic bench view. The other is across the main road near the forest with a larger parking lot. Parking is limited at both lots on a busy day, so come prepared to check both lots. There is a port-a-potty at the entrance. I was surprised to see so many mountain bikers out, it seems most popular at this park. Be aware if you're coming for a walk or a run, many of the bikers don't alert when they're coming up to you to pass. It's clean and the trails are away from the road, so you can really submerge into nature on your walk. It's all mud, so come with good shoes after a rain storm or on a wet day. Definitely going to come back and check out more of the side trails!
