The cabins are all situated in a way that you don't really notice the other guests. The owners are great, very nice and respectful. The first time there, Lavon gave us a tour of all the cabins when we were scouting places for my boyfriend's sister's wedding. She ended up choosing a place on the peninsula but my boyfriend and I returned here shortly after the wedding because we liked it so much. On the return trip we met the other owner briefly, she saw us out for a walk with our dogs petted them and then we didn't see another soul again for the remainder of our stay. Staying here is like staying at a family member or friend's cabin. It's homey, comfortable and feels lived in. Each cabin has it's own unique decor and feel. They are clean but not hospital sterile. If you're looking for an on-call front desk and team of staff waiting on you, this isn't the place for you. If you want a place to marvel at your surroundings, breath in fresh air, and enjoy some piece and quite with your dogs, you won't find a place better than this.

There have a lot of native arts and paintings as well as cute trinkets to say you've been there. The store is very clean and smells really good. They had native flute music playing in the background. Very nice ambiance. I also saw that you can rent a kayak but I didn't get a chance to check out the prices. All the kayaks looked to be in good shape and properly stowed in another part of the pier. Check this place out if you're in Coupeville. If you go down the the history museum and turn right onto the pier you'll see what I'm talking about.

The time availability, Golden Hour Tour discount, and Anacortes departure allowed us to narrow our decision. We were very pleased with our three our tour. However, it did not seem like it would work well for beginners as basic skills were needed to paddle and navigate. I never quite got comfortable with the peddles for turning and would have had them a little lower as my feet slipped off a couple times. I could not bend my knees enough to reconnect the peddles for turning on my own. Our guide assisted me which held up the tour though. We were in a tandem which worked well for us as my husband was recovering from surgery. We were covered with a skirt to keep us dry for the most part. Some water did leech in to wet our bathing suit bottoms so we were glad we brought a dry change of clothes at the end. We saw eagles, seals, jumping fish, and other birds. Whales do not come in this close to the main land so we had no expectation. The water was like glass in parts, slightly turbulent in others, and the island shores simply serene. If you stuck close to the guide, he was very knowledgeable.

You can park on the side of the road but there are signs up that says that you can't park in certain areas. It isn't all clear so you run the risk of getting towed.
