Last Sunday I came upon a cat that had just been hit by a car. I stopped, determined that the cat was badly injured but couldn't leave it in the road . I took the cat to Shingle Springs Vet. Walked up to the door and said I needed help with a very badly injured cat. The staff was wonderful. Kind, caring compassionate. Unfortunately, the cat had died on the way to the hospital. He was there with the newest meds for parvo when a stray came into my yard! which saved his life and he didn't suffer. He loves animals and taking care of them. Do not go here!! Ancient vet Bader should be reported for malpractice and fired. He treated my cat roughly- like she was a dog, not a 17 year old indoor cat. They had no vet techs to help secure her for exam. He acted like it was my fault when he tried to open her mouth and she swiped at him. He tried to give her IV fluids from an old previously opened bag using his mouth to open the needle. Completely unsanitary and disgusting. He stabbed my cat in the wrong place then didn't know how the bag worked so started squeezing it to make the water drip. Meanwhile my cat was screaming in pain from the needle moving all over. I had to rip it out and get out of there before he did more damage. He seemed oblivious to what I was saying- couldn't even hear half of it. And they way over charge! Never suggested any diagnosis or further testing. Never go here! read more

I still feel guilt over losing my dog a few months ago after bringing him here. They gave him a vaccine to stop him from vomiting and said to bring him back if he got sick again. We came back 2 hours later with him still vomiting so they pumped his stomach full of stuff to prevent it. Thought that was strange. They said I could pick him up that night and called back to say they wanted to keep him overnight but were not going to charge me a hospital stay. Second red flag. They called in the morning saying my dog had died overnight. I told them I was coming to see him to say goodbye and what they did next was so incredibly unprofessional. They brought me back to their cold storage, opened up a freezer (which had around 5 other animals in it btw) and pointed saying "that one's yours" with him in a trash bag. They left him in the freezer and cut the bag open. I wish I never brought him here or he would likely still be with me. read more

The care provided was extremely poor, and I would not recommend this place. My cat suffers from severe car sickness, and I was required by state law to bring him in. Despite warning them beforehand, he became very ill and had an accident in his crate. When Leslie, a technician, came in, she commented that he wasn't friendly because he was meowing loudly. I explained that he's normally very nice but was feeling unwell and doesn't like being in a crate or car, which I had already discussed. She then asked if he was a good cat, and I affirmed that he's amazing. She replied with a dismissive remark, 'Hmm, he's second best.' It was unprofessional. Later, she mentioned being wary of cats because her dog had attacked her cat and has been mean ever since. This seemed irrelevant to our situation. I requested treatment for my cat's car sickness, but the focus shifted to irrelevant matters. Another customer was present and discovered his dog hadn't received treatment the day he dropped his dog off at the vet. When he confronted the technicians, they initially made excuses until he brought up he has hand written notes from the doctor he will bring in. I felt sorry for him. After he left, I overheard them speaking negatively about him. The lack of professionalism and accountability was disappointing. It's also concerning that the facility lacks soundproofing. The techs are poor but, the doc is understanding and great. read more

Do not take your pets here. After leaving on Monday 11/4/24 I sat outside uncomfortable bout the care my dog had been given so I called the Wellness Center, (Doctor Raymond) as his walk-ins for the day was full and I couldn't get in or I would never been here I asked if I could have a follow up appointment with Dr. Raymond I got in 11/6/24 I showed Dr. Raymond what Dr. Omar had given him. Dr. Raymond asked me if Harley had bloody stool and I told him no. I also told him I told Dr. Omar that he didn't have it either. That the attendant that cleaned his poop up knew there was no blood! Dr. Raymond said stop the medication and he gave Harley amoxicillin and some probiotics to go home. While I was @ Shingle springs veterinarian They messed up with the medication's twice. First with syringe that had too much for the size of my dog and secondly, they gave him pills instead of liquid when I checked out. Our animals mean different things to all of us they are dear to our hearts. Please, by all means stay away from this veterinarian ! read more

Don't come here. I've taken my dog here a couple of times but the most recent visit will be the last. I have a 12 yr old chihuahua/terrier mix and brought her in to get her updated rabies & bordetella vaccines on Thursday 4/3. They mentioned if she is walking weird for the next day or two it's because the vaccines went in her right side butt area. She was slow to eat dinner that night but I didn't think much of it. The following day, Friday 4/4, she refused to get out of bed all day to go potty or even drink water/eat breakfast & dinner. Early Saturday morning she had a seizure, the scariest thing to ever witness. I called them later that morning explaining everything, was told I would get a call back and never received one. I called yet again that afternoon and still nothing. I wish they would have taken the time to explain the risks with her age. It's clear they don't care about my dog's health or well being. I am extremely disappointed in their actions in not following up -- I've been left with no other decision to have another vet see her from here on out. read more

*Everything went okay with my dog* My reasoning for giving low review was just because this vet felt kind of impersonal, and feels like your pet is "just another run of the mill". Felt more like they were just running a business rather than were there to care for my pet. 1) Took about 1 week just to talk to someone over the phone for appointment 2) When i picked my dog up, no follow up meeting for after care instructions, no talk about how she did, no follow up on blood work that i paid $130 extra for. It was just: here's your dog, it went fine, here's your medicine, pay us, goodbye! Didn't even give me any paper instructions on how to go about aftercare. 3)I had to ask for instructions on everything i need to do and their response was "the instructions are in the bag" I get home and there are No instructions in the bag.. (i am novice pet owner so i do not know much, had to search internet how to care for her best) I expected better service but i am happy my dog is healthy and taken care of read more

I'd taken my rats to two different veterinary clinics before I found this one and I just wish I had found it sooner. They don't charge ridiculous prices and the doctor seems to be one of the rare vets that truly cares about the well being of animals. Even though it's a far drive for me to get here, I will not take my rats anywhere else but this clinic. My Cavalier had been diagnosed with a serious heart murmur at another vet, plus teeth to be pulled. Julio did X-rays and an ultrasound. Turns out her heart condition is much less severe. He also scraped plaque off her teeth. Julio was very informative, knowledgeable, and made valuable recommendations. He was a super nice guy. Words could never express how grateful I am for all of the Staff here at Shingle Springs Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Bader is hands down one of the most understanding and kindest vet we have ever experienced! After a nightmare experience with another local "popular" vet we had to come here for an emergency visit to save our poor girls life. As soon as we showed up we had staff members assisting us with getting her out of the car and quickly got her into the back to start treatments. The first vet preformed a major surgery and she was sent home to us without antibiotics or something to cover the wound which caused it to get infected and she got a high fever. When we arrived she hadn't eaten or urinated all day and was barely responding. The staff here was so wonderful and really helped calm me down with words of encouragement and understanding as I was panicked and worried about her life. After a few hours we were able to find out what was going on and plan a course of action from there. Thankfully we were able to take her home that evening and were provided antibiotics, bandage cover and a cone to keep it clean. She's doing SO much better and almost back to her old self! I'm sure she will be once she can take her cone off haha! We still visit for bandage wraps and to make sure it's healing properly and she's happy to go inside every time! DON'T DO BUSINESS AT SHINGLE SPRINGS VETERINARY CLINIC. I took my dog there at the end of the summer as he was really sick and had an injured left paw. After two nights at the clinic and a padded bill (per a real vet I took him to) I was charged $1,300. I returned a week later for a check up and waited almost 3 hours even though I had an appointment. I left without seeing anyone. I had to take my dog to the vet in Placerville and they immediately found that his left toe was broken and he had a cancerous tumor on his paw. I had to have his toe amputated. Today I received a bill from Shingle Springs Vet office for $151. This fraud of an office needs to be closed down and exposed for who they are..........DO NOT ever take you animal to this clinic........you will get ripped off. read more

IF YOU WANT A VET WHO TRULY CARES FOR YOUR PET AS IF IT IS HIS VERY OWN, THEN DR. BADER IS THE VET YOU WANT TO SEE! Dr. Bader saved my Rottweiler, Bella's life! He and his staff are very compassionate and understanding. I was at this clinic for countless hours and several days. I observed first-hand how they care for each animal that comes through their doors with great compassion. I witnessed a team-playing environment where so much was going on...My Bella's issues, a cat mauled by two dogs, rattlesnake bites, stitches, a dog that ate rat poison, a prolapsed cat, a dog that needed to be put down, etc., etc. the list could go on and on... In my opinion, by personal experience, many vets and their staff display a lack of compassion and empathy for the pet and the owner. This vet and his staff truly care. The compassion and understanding they display are definitely there... After we spent thousands of dollars at a Roseville Emergency Clinic for one night of observation, with no diagnosis and more funds being requested, I had to pull Bella from their system due to finances. Dr. Bader took over Bella's care and diagnosed her with Pancreatitis and saved her life! Dr. Bader gives realistic estimates and works with owners. Unlike the larger facilities who are mainly in this business for profit trying to support their high overhead costs. I say this because a simple blood test was readily available for Bella and the Roseville ER Clinic decided to use the 'wait and see' approach and wanted over $7K to observe her for four days. Dr. Bader worked with us on fees and he used a simple blood test, called cPLI which diagnosed her immediately... I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER VET! Everyone in this office is wonderful and patient. My only regret is not getting my Bella into them sooner! The People who work here are Very Rude and Dismissive. if you Value your Pets Don't Trust them to this Place. one of the Vet Techs was Particularly Rude. we called because My dog had a Surgery at another Vet and Hadn't Urinated in a few Days. This Tech said she was sure my Dog had urinated somewhere and we just didn't notice. this was at 10 O clock at Night and they were Closing and wanted to Go Home. this Business should not be considered a 24 Hour Vet because they're Not. we ended up taking my Dog to another Vet in Eldorado Hills who ran some tests and Revealed that My dog had a Full Bladder and determined that she hadn't Urinated because of Stress and being in Pain.( the weather has been Stormy Lately) He Brought a Full syringe of Pee to the Car to show it to us. I can't believe they were willing to Let my Dog get sick and die just because they wanted to go Home Early. when My mother Called to complain about the Poor Service we had experienced They Refused to speak to her and Hung up the Phone.
