I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Raymond. Most veterinarians require you to pay and schedule an appointment before they'll even respond or consult with you about what might be going on with your animal, but Dr. Raymond goes above and beyond every single time. Recently, my bulldog became extremely ill on a Saturday. Out of desperation, I emailed Dr. Raymond because he's the only vet I trust with my dogs. Within an hour, he personally responded and asked for my phone number so he could call me. Not only did he call me, but he had already arranged for me to see another veterinarian so my dog could be seen right away--at his pricing. He even spoke directly with that veterinarian to go over the recommended treatment plan. While I was at the appointment, Dr. Raymond called me again just to check in, and then made special arrangements for me to pick up additional medication at his clinic. His clinic was closed, no staff were on site, so he arranged for someone to go in after hours, retrieve the medication, and leave it for me to pick up as soon as I was finished with the other appointment. This is not something he had to do. He did it out of the goodness of his heart, because he genuinely cares about the well-being of animals. I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Raymond for over 13 years, and there's a reason I won't go anywhere else if I can help it. With bulldogs, vet visits are frequent, and I'm always thankful we have him. What sets Dr. Raymond apart is that he's practical, logical, and will never recommend a procedure that isn't needed. He is not in this for the money--he is truly about the health and recovery of the animals he treats. Finding a veterinarian who not only has the medical knowledge but also this level of compassion is incredibly rare. What veterinarian does things like this? Literally none that I have ever encountered. Dr. Raymond is a notch above the rest for sure, and if you're looking for a vet, he comes highly recommended by me and all my furry friends.

Dr Raymond is amazing and he truly loves our animals. Recently my 9 year old GSD tore his ACL and at any others vets office it would have cost several thousand dollars. It took a few months and it was very difficult to keep an active dog quiet but the acupuncture injections worked! He also took care of my last dog with a spinal injury and helped her immediately after another vet couldn't. I won't trust my beloved animals with anyone else!

8/4/25: Psyche before her appointment with Dr. Raymond to have stitches removed.

After being told nothing more could be done for my cat, Psyche, I scheduled her euthanasia. By a miracle, I found Dr. Raymond the day before. Within 24 hours of seeing him, she started eating again. Weeks later, after new treatments, two emergency surgeries, and constant check-ins, she's alive, playing, and thriving! I've spent less $ here than I did at the first vet who gave up on her. Dr. Raymond didn't just treat my cat... he gave her back to me. I will never forget the week I almost lost my cat, Psyche. One day I noticed she looked yellow. The next morning, I took her to our regular vet. They agreed she "looked a little yellow" but didn't know why. They ran bloodwork but never called with the results and I only got answers when I called repeatedly. Four days later, she was worse. When I brought her back, they gave her IV fluids and six different medications: liver support, appetite stimulant, antibiotic, steroid, anti-nausea medication, and more. After that, she stopped eating completely (believe me I tried EVERYTHING). Her yellowing got worse, and nothing seemed to help. At her last appointment, they told me if she didn't improve over the weekend, it was time to put her down. I spent that weekend crying and praying repeatedly for a miracle. By Monday, I was out of hope and made the euthanasia appointment for Wednesday. Making that call felt like my soul left my body. I wanted her final days to be special, so I took her outside for the first time so she could watch the birds she'd only ever seen through the window. I posted a picture online, and my cousin reached out saying she thought I had already said goodbye. She told me about an amazing vet named Dr. Raymond, three hours away, and even made me an appointment for the very next day. As I mentioned, I had been crying and praying for a miracle... and in that moment, I thought maybe this was it. When we arrived, Dr. Raymond came through the door swinging, ready to fight for her! He immediately examined her, checked the fluid in her abdomen, drew blood, and switched her to a different appetite stimulant and antibiotic. The very next day, she ate. Not much, but after refusing food for so long, it was everything. At her follow-up, her bloodwork came back normal, but we still had a fight ahead of us. Dr. Raymond prescribed a high-calorie nutrient supplement and referred us for an ultrasound. The results showed no organ damage, just a little fluid around her liver and inflammation. We kept her on her appetite stimulant, and she began eating more and more until she was eating consistently again. Then, on July 18th, we woke up to blood on our bed. She had an undetectable abscess on her front arm that had popped. The clinic was closed, but Dr. Raymond got us in that same day for surgery. About 10 days later, another abscess popped on her chest, and once again, he immediately performed surgery. Knowing I lived three hours away, he checked in with me constantly. On August 7th, we removed her final stitches. It's now been two weeks since her last surgery, and she is doing amazing. She's eating, drinking, running around, and playing again. Before finding Dr. Raymond, I had spent thousands of dollars at her previous vet trying to save her, only to be told to put her down. After bloodwork, medications, ultrasounds, and two surgeries with Dr. Raymond, I have still spent less than I did at the first vet, and my baby is alive. Dr. Raymond was my miracle. He cares deeply, fights for his patients, and does everything in his power to provide low-cost, life-saving care. If you are ever facing the impossible with your pet, go to him. He might just give you your miracle, too. Thank you, Dr. Raymond, for being our miracle, and thank you to all your staff for doing everything you could to accommodate my 6-hour round trip commute. You all will forever hold a special place in my heart!

Dr. Raymond and his staff are amazing. Incredible people who care about the welfare of all animals. Dr. Raymond and his staff saved the life of my little 15-year-old Chihuahua who had a huge growth on his spleen, and it turned out he also had a huge growth of testicular cancer that we had no idea about. Dr. Raymond worked all morning and afternoon yet. He told me that he could meet me for surgery that night and him and one of his assistants came even though they worked the entire morning and all day they came to do surgery just for my little baby. They didn't question that he is a geriatric dog at 15 years old. They just did it to save his life and it turns out that my dog is recovering and is doing well, living his second best life. In the second picture, With all this taken out of a tiny Dog I really didn't think he had much to live. But Chewy is doing amazingly great seven days later. Dr. Raymond just does his work to save lives and reduce suffering in both pets and their human companions. He doesn't think about age or if it's worth the effort. He just wants to help animals and their people. What a Blessing in this time of the world of greed and excesss. Dr Raymond and his staff are Saints for what they give and provide to this community and indeed the world of much needed Love, Hope, and Blessings

What pet insurances does the clinic take?

They do not take pet insurance but will copy your bill so that you can send it to the insurance company.

My son's dog is pretty sick, and he went to the clinic today, and they were closed. He doesn't have a job, and doesn't have much money. Are there other options for the weekend for vets (if he can't afford a big bill)?

Unfortunately, the quality of care he provides is overshadowed by an extremely rude and unprofessional front office staff. For about a month we left messages roughly once a week regarding scheduling our Golden Retriever for a spay procedure and never received a call back. Eventually we were told Dr. Khurmi had been on vacation, and suddenly we were able to schedule the surgery. It would have been helpful if that had been communicated earlier, but at that point we were simply happy to finally get the appointment. We chose the laparoscopic option because we had read it could be less traumatic and allow for an easier recovery. We were given a price range, and when we dropped our dog off we paid $1,783.94, which was the lower end of the estimate. When we picked her up, we were told we owed an additional $116.06. The amount itself was no big deal to us. We had already agreed to a cost range and were fully prepared to pay within that range. Out of simple curiosity, we asked what caused the final cost to land at the higher end. The vet tech immediately became defensive and spoke to us in a condescending tone in front of other clients, repeatedly stating that we had agreed to a range rather than simply explaining the difference. We never received a clear answer. While waiting, there were also other clients ahead of us who appeared surprised by additional charges at checkout, so it did not seem like an isolated situation. The discharge process was also rushed. The vet tech briefly went over the medication but did not clearly review the rest of the post-operative instructions before sending us home with a printed sheet. Nearly two weeks later the stitches are still clearly visible, so we called the office today to confirm whether they were dissolvable or needed to be removed. I had made a mental note that the instructions mentioned something about sutures being removed around 14 days, as we are approaching that timeframe and I wanted to get them taken out. When I explained that this had not been discussed with us, the staff member responded in a very abrasive tone, repeatedly insisting that we had been sent home with an instruction sheet rather than simply addressing the question. After requesting the clinical summary earlier to understand the final invoice, I reviewed it again and it actually states "sutures out in 14 days," which contradicts what we were told on the phone today. As a client and not a veterinarian, I should not have to interpret clinical notes to understand basic post-operative instructions. Clear and consistent guidance is important when you are caring for a pet recovering from surgery. I have since emailed the clinic asking for clarification and am still waiting for confirmation on whether the sutures are dissolvable or need to be removed. Based on our experience, the front office staff and vet techs could benefit from additional training in client communication and customer service. Pet owners should feel comfortable asking questions without being spoken to in a defensive or dismissive tone. After reviewing other client feedback and the responses from this business, there appears to be a pattern of defensiveness rather than accountability. Hopefully this situation will be handled differently, but based on those responses I would not be surprised if the reply focuses on defending the clinic rather than addressing the concerns raised. When you trust someone with your pet's surgery, professionalism and clear communication should be the standard, not something clients have to fight for.

They are always very patient, understanding and encouraging. Not only that - but they don't try and empty your bank account in your time of need. Last year I…read moretried one for my dog's annual exam, and today I tried the other, Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic. I also specifically wanted to try a male vet, as my previous vet in Southern CA was also male (and adored). So, I brought my beloved senior gal (dog) to Dr. Johnson. I was extremely impressed with the facility- ample parking, clean and spacious waiting area, nice decor, complimentary coffee (Keurig), and well-equipped. They are also well-staffed here. Our appointment went very well, Dr. Johnson did a nice job with the exam and discussing my concerns with me (recommended vaccines for the area, skin tags, etc). I especially like a vet who will sit on the floor with my dog and I. It is that type of bedside manner that I look for and appreciate in a vet. Since they have an in-house lab, I was called by the Doctor himself with the blood and heartworm results within 3 hours of my appointment - IMPRESSIVE! I was also impressed with the fact that I could pay in the exam room before I left - a convenience I have never experienced before! The exam cost was comparable to other vets in the area, the blood panel was quite a bit more than what I paid last year at the other local vet. I also appreciate that Dr. Johnson is not the type to push services, but does a nice job at communicating his professional opinion and backs it up with experience. The demeanor of the front desk staff is also very important to me and a point of dissatisfaction with that other vet's office. The gals at Pleasant Valley were friendly and welcoming. Tylene especially went above and beyond to answer some questions I had via email prior to my appointment. She was helpful, thorough and prompt in her responses. The only drawback I find in this area in general, is the lack of a holistic-minded vet. I am extremely particular about my dog's care and wellness, and do my best to research all issues and make the most informed and healthiest decisions I can in order to extend her quality of life. On our way out, my dog enjoyed sniffing and marking in the designated area off of the parking lot, which I thought was a great perk! Neither of my previous vets had this, and I know my gal enjoyed the "pee mail". All in all, I would highly recommend this clinic. The fact that they have several doctors increases your chances of being seen quickly in case of an urgent matter, and the in house lab provides faster results. It is a very nice establishment for this area, has current technology in place, attentive staff and is very clean and well-kept. I was pleased!
