At the end of 2024, our dogs' teeth were cleaned by their vet. Because our small dogs were 16, they had blood work done before going under anaesthesia. The blood work showed our dogs were in good health. However, their kidneys were right under the line for needing a special diet or meds. We were told to keep an eye out for any changes. In January 2025, we moved from Scottadale to Cameron Park. In March, we noticed our eldest dog, Otis, had a corneal ulcer (1). Later, I learned ulcers can be a sign of kidney failure. We went to nearby Airport Pet Clinic (APC) for treatment. We purchased the medication for healing. Since there would be follow-up care, we bought their annual Pet Plan to cover those future visits. At his follow-ups: 2) I said Otis would sometimes stare off into space or stumble about as if drunk. I was told this was dementia. Later, I learned this type of confusion can be a sign of kidney failure. 3) I mentioned twitching and weakness in his back legs when standing. I was told this was arthritis. Later, I learned muscle changes in the legs can be a sign of kidney failure. 4) I was asked about his potty routine. I was not asked the color of his stools. Later, I learned his black, tarry stools can be a sign of kidney failure. 5) I was asked about his drinking. I said he drank a TON as I was often refilling his bowl. Later, I learned drinking a lot of water can be a sign of kidney failure. 6) I was asked about his eating. Otis liked to eat his meals at 6 AM and 6 PM. But his drooling meant I had to wipe his face after. Later, I learned drooling can be a sign of kidney failure. 7) I was asked about his sleeping. Otis slept all night but slept more and more all day waking up only at meal times. Later, I learned increased sleep can be a sign of kidney failure. In March 2026, our annual Pet Plan at Airport Clinic was ending. I scheduled a final check-up for the dogs. Despite all the signs, no mention was made that Otis could be in end stage renal disease (ESRD). Instead, the vet focused on Otis's younger brother, Fen. He had 4 prescriptions for Vetmedin left and then he'd need a renewal. Fen has a heart murmur and without this medication, he could die. The vet wanted a $1,000 worth of blood tests, x-rays, and a cardiologist review to renew the prescription. I offered to pay $250 a month over 4 months so everything was paid off by the time Fen needed the renewal. This plan was refused. In April 2026, I took my dogs to Goldorado Animal Hospital. I had Fen examined first and we worked out a plan for his renewal when his original prescription ends. Otis's exam was scheduled for 9 AM Tuesday, April 22. Regrettably, Otis became ill after midnight on Monday, April 21. At his appointment, his kidneys were failing so I had to make the worst decision a pet parent has to make. Otis passed away, his ashes are with us, we are comforting his little brother, and our whole family misses him. First, I am upset that his signs were missed during his annual care at Airport Pet Clinic. Second, Otis needlessly suffered because he wasn't properly diagnosed. Third, measures weren't taken to delay the end stage or ease symptoms or reduce pain. Please, APC, take more care spotting signs of kidney failure in geriatric dogs. It hurts me so much to think my sweet boy was suffering unnecessarily the last year of his life. No one deserves that. read more

This place is nothing but overpriced and exploitative. The new doctor is terrible--she talks in circles so fast you can't even follow, let alone trust her. Slate Creek is a far better choice: organized, professional, and with doctors who actually act like professionals. I made the mistake of bringing my dog here for a routine fix--$1,115?! They nickel-and-dimed every step with bogus fees: a board fee, a cone fee, and whatever else they could tack on. I argued it down to $640, but even that was outrageous. They didn't tell me the price on the phone, they told me once I was ready a to go in the office for drop off. What really pushed me over the edge was when the staff had the audacity to say, 'If your dog has issues and passes during surgery, it will be $500 to resuscitate him.' Excuse me? You're medical professionals--it's your duty to save the animal, not hold it for ransom. That statement alone was disgusting and beyond unprofessional. I should've walked out then and there. Don't make the mistake I did--take your pets somewhere they'll be treated with competence and decency. Oh! And I forgot, they called me later that night saying they charged me for the wrong cone and I owe them 9 dollars! 9 DOLLARS.... Get over yourselves read more

If you anything like me that likes honesty fromm people you may want to avoid this people. Located in Cameron Park next to the airport most people are financially well off. I felt the Vet takes advantage of her clientele. My poor fur baby had a very red eye with lots of green eye boogers. This lady freaked us out soooo much! She hinted if we didn't do everything for Bella she would loose her eye. WTH?!?!? She didn't get a close look at Bella's eye!!! She instead ed I get a special eye drop so she can use a black light to see if there was a tear. Of course we willing to continue with her advised treatment... $150 later nothing!?? Maybe I should have asked my options before agreeing to her suggestion testing. I will definitely not return to this location. And I will do my research to find a better vet just like I would do for myself when looking for a doctor. read more

If they are too busy for new patients I understand, but to not tell me when I call multiple times & no call backs whatsoever is unprofessional. I was not given a quote prior to drop off for the surgery which apparently was an oversight on their end and since my dog was ready to go for that day, I did sign the quote the day of surgery but left feeling blindsided at the cost. I was never given preop instructions or a reminder about the upcoming surgery or a check in post surgery and for that price, I would expect those extras. Then a week later I called with concerns of a urinary tract infection and was told a doctor would call me back within 24 hours. I never received that call back. I've been going here for a long time. They switched doctors and must've switched owners about a year ago and it's been horrible ever since. Before I give my recent visit review, let me just note my mom took her two indoor cats here in January to update their couple of vaccinations due and it came to over 400 dollars. For just a couple of vaccinations for 2 cats. Now to my story. I took my pug in who had a hematoma that needed to be drained and not only was the vet tech who was training a new girl SO rude, but then quoted me over 1900 dollars to have it drained. I took him to Banfield and paid 115, and they treated him very kindly. I also asked my friend at Family Vet for their quote and she said 65, which is less than my initial visit just to have them tell me it would be 1900 dollars. If you don't want to overpay hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars, steer clear. We are now at Banfield. read more

We've been a loyal Airport Pet family for over 25 years. Doctors and staff knew and loved our dogs, they were kind and compassionate especially when it came time to say "good-bye" to one of our sweet girls. Sadly, it has changed hands and we will not be returning. The atmosphere is cold and the fees have more than doubled. At a previous appointment the vet clearly shamed me to the point of tears, for not want to put my 15 year old beagle through $800+ of tests and x-rays, because her liver enzymes were slightly elevated. She was having no issues or symptoms Today we paid $90 for a nail trim, an anal gland expression. We have never paid more than $40 for this. We will not be returning. This is not the Airport Pet clinic we knew and loved. read more

I would not recommend you taking your precious fur baby to them. Took our yorkie in there at 4 pm . She did not get seen until after 10 pm. Our dog has a special diet. So we returned the next morning with her food. We were told her Temperature and tremors has stopped. We took her home. She could not walk or eat. She passed away early in the morning. I recent came in to clinic and I was surprised by the changes inside and by the staff. The seating inside was really dirty and as was the floors. I was actually concerned with leaving my pet in the floor. The staff was having personal conversations and using highly inappropriate language. I actually wondered if they forgot people were sitting there, but it didn't change he once we checked out. I was hesitant to write a review as I know how hard it is to find good staff during these times, but days later I'm still appalled. I wasn't aware the doctors we had seen over the years had left until I read other Yelp users review. With COVID and having to wait in the car this past year, it was surprising. read more

Airport Pet Clinic has been our vet for over 20 years, but it has dramatically changed since the new owner seems to care more about making money than caring for pets. Every single administrative staff, vet tech, and veterinarian has since left because of the radical change the new owner has implemented. This is not an exaggeration. The owner in fact does not work at this clinic... it is just one of the clinics he owns. The techs and vets are all very pleasant once you're in an exam room, but this clinic feels very unstructured. Also, the service is out of wack. I know that the staff are new at this clinic, so they're getting used to the place and the system, but it's very frustrating after so many years of excellent, seamless service. I've been kept waiting on the phone for over 20 minutes, only to be cut off. I've had to wait in a room for 20 minutes, and have watched other folks become more and more frustrated waiting for their appointments... the staff don't even have the courtesy to let the clients know that there will be a wait because of an emergency. We have changed vets, to Companion Animal Hospital. They aren't perfect, but they are far more service-oriented than the staff at Airport Pet Clinic. It's very sad that a clinic that was started by Dr. Gallant, then owned by Dr. Burley has lost it's staff and clients this way. I can't imagine that they will be open much longer. read more

One of my dogs recently snorted up some foxtails into his nose and after calling around to several local veterinary clinics this is the one that could fit us in the quickest, and the experiences that I had made me grateful in a way for the incident because I now have a veterinary clinic I plan to use for all of our dogs, current and future, throughout our lives in this area. From start to finish the experience was great. Due to COVID, you currently have to wait in the parking lot and call in when you arrive. The office staff answered right away and each stall is labeled, so they know exactly which car to go to. Great job on the organization of that. I had been going to another clinic that was less organized, so this stood out to me. My dog is a bit fearful of veterinary clinics, but the vet tech was so great and sweet and patient with him as was the veterinarian who saw him as well. Both made me feel so comfortable leaving him because it was clear they were caring and kind and were mindful about the temperament of my dog. Before leaving, the vet went over all the potential options of what could happen to get the foxtails out as well as the pricing and printed out an estimate for me, which I greatly appreciated so I knew what to expect in terms of billing. Within I think about an hour of being home, the vet called with an update to let me know all went smoothly and the time I could pick my dog up. When I went to get him, he was ready on time and the vet tech who helped me was amazing. She went over all the information about post procedure care as well as had a print out with the instructions. She allowed me to ask additional questions and follow up on some of the topics that came up during my dog's initial intake. She also let me know that they periodically checked on my dog throughout his short stay to just make sure he was doing okay and give him ​some pets as he can be a bit anxious in those environments, which I thought was a really amazing level of service to help him feel a bit more comfortable. Because of this great first experience, I decided to take my 8 week puppy here to get his first vaccines even though I had planned on going to a different clinic that is a bit more low cost just because of the level of care my other dog received. I feel like the slightly higher cost is totally worth it, and the difference wasn't significant for a higher standard of care. At that appointment, the vet allowed me time to ask questions and again went over pricing and any other information I wanted to know more about. She even followed up with me by email afterward on a topic we forgot to follow through with during the appointment. I'm sure no one is reading this far, but I also want to give credit to the office staff. They were clearly skilled multitaskers who were professional, friendly and easy to converse with. They seemed like very hard working, focused, skilled multi-taskers, and I was appreciative of their expedient assistance. Lastly I just wanted to mention that they have a texting feature to remind you about appointments as well as an online portal to keep track of all your pets' information. I really appreciate these features that help keep track of everything as I have definitely forgotten things in the past. I honestly cannot say more wonderful things about this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a veterinary clinic for their pets! They fixed my dogs ear infection last year and were great. Yesterday they fixed my dogs wound from getting ran over and I couldn't believe how well they fixed him up. Dr. foster did an amazing job reattaching his skin, I don't know how she did it! Sutures look amazing. Years ago, before the current owner 2023, this was a great clinic. Not so anymore. They only have fill in vets. Back in September, there was no vet on staff. We've been taking our pets here about 15 years. With the change of ownership this place has become completely discombobulated and run with very poor management. Our youngest dog has IBS and was put on a prescription dog food. Ordered and paid for a new bag. A week goes buy and no call to pick it up. Call to get status and they will no longer order the food. Umm. Gee, thanks for letting me know.. Took 2 days to get a written prescription of the dog food. I have to scramble to find the food. Second older dog has vestibular disease and alzherimers. Ran out of medication and called spoke with an attendant for a refill. 2 days to call back and 1 day for the refill. So upsetting and frustrating. Prices increase, harder to get an appointment and not getting prescription refills. I finally took the step to transfer my pack to companion animal hospital!!! read more

We've been going to them for a while. Today was clearly a busy Saturday and they were backed up. I get it. Some days are like that. A woman apparently screamed At them for having to wait a little bit. That's unnecessary and unacceptable behavior. They are really great with my Malinois and lab. Today and ever day. The vet tech came out to my car and gave both my dogs their bordatella shots as soon as she could. Why people have to behave with such entitled attitudes is beyond me. She gave us a few samples of heartworm / FT meds which she did not have to do but it was greatly appreciated since we were out. She went Above and beyond for a minor inconvenience. This clinic will nickel and dime you until you have nothing left and the care is basically an assembly line now. You have to have a visit for everything, have to have annual check ups, have to have this and that and it's $75 minimum just to step foot in the door. It's not personal, it's $$$$. No thanks. Today I called, told them my cat is clearly dehydrated and stressed out, won't eat or drink, breathing heavy with mouth wide open and drooling. They denied me for today, said they've no availability before tomorrow afternoon. This is how you treat loyal customers with an emergency? No thank you! This place is AMAZING!!! Yesterday We had an emergency head trauma with my 7 month old kitten. Her bossy big sister pushed her off the top of the cat tree. She fell face first into the second level of the tree, eventually landing on her feet and walking away. I shrugged it off and went to work. I returned a few hours later to a kitty with a swollen face and cloudy eye. My kitty had a concussion. She was not acting herself. Airport Pet Clinic was able to get me in with Dr Foster in just a few hours...an injection of antiinflammatories and pain meds and we were on our way with a healthy kitty. My dog saw Dr. Conner because of frequent UTIs. He prescribed an antibiotic with 3 refills. When I went to refill the prescription the office staff refused to refill because Dr. Conner no longer worked there. I spoke with the office manager who told me she would have it refilled-SHE NEVER CALLED IT IN. I have contacted them via email, phone calls, & then went in. THEY REFUSED TO REFILL MY PRESCRIPTION for my dog who is now urinating blood because I REVIEWED THEIR BUSINESS. Now I understand why this business is so short staffed & constantly losing customers. They refuse to help people & their pets. This place has really gone downhill with this new ownership. Now i understand why Dt Connors left. Avoid at all costs. read more

I've been coming to Airport Vet for 20 years. Dr. Burley WAS the best but what happen to her? Apparently, she retired and new veterinarians bought the place. . What really bugs me is I had no idea as I was leaving my dog in the hands of someone who met me out in the parking lot, (covid) my doctor wasn't even there. An email from Dr. Burley would have been oh, so appropriate. "Dear longtime patient, we are retiring. Please welcome doctors' so and so. But not a word. Almost shady. I stopped in yesterday for my pooch's heart worm meds. The parking lot empty, not a soul inside. I asked if I could get her nails trimmed. They declined me saying she was due for her annual exam. My dog had been seen 6 months prior for her annual heart worm test. The office girl claimed it was law and to thank Gov. Newsom (I can't find information on this) I left perplexed. Absolutely terrible. Took my pet for a senior exam including bloodwork and they told me my dog was healthy. Went home and decided for a second opinion at Folsom Banfield and was told my dog had kidney disease. Thankfully my dog was diagnosed at an early stage and we've managed it the last 3 years. I found out Airport Pet Clinic did NOT run lab work!!! What kind of vet doesn't run labs with a senior exam??? They rushed The whole process , money was not an issue. The office manager yelled at me when I called to ask why they did not run labs and had no reason for their failure to provide service. read more

He was a mess, I felt like a bad momma, and we needed him taken care of pronto! 5 hours from home, exhausted from days of traveling, worried about my baby, and Dr. Fitzgerald and the gals in the office were our saving grace! I have been taking my bunnies and kitty here for many years and the past year has been nothing but disappointing. Every time I call the man answering the phone seems overwhelmed. You get put on hold for so long he forgets about you and you have to call back and demand to not get put on hold and talk to a person. The new male receptionist can't seem to get information and messages passed along. Ive had to call many times and get firm to get my info passed to the right person. I even had to prove I paid in cash MULTIPLE TIMES and bring in my receipts when I came back for another visit because it wasn't properly entered in the system or went missing. Worst of all, I had to put down my beloved 8yo kitty down after a FULL check up where I was told he had a strong heartbeat and 'looked great' and he died of a heart condition a few days after. We've been coming to Airport pet clinic for almost 11 years and they've always treated our dogs like members of their own family. We used to have Dr. Napier, but she retired and now Dr. Mouritsen usually sees our dogs. The vet techs are great and Manda always takes great care of our problem child dog. Our older dog loves going to the vet and everyone there knows and loves her. They are always able to get us in the week we call for routine things (nail trims, check out something odd etc) We always appreciate the great service they provide and the honest care given to our pets. read more

I am writting from my friend's account as I do not have my own yelp account. I have always liked the doctors and staff at this hospital. They have always been kind and conservative in their practices. They have helped many of my animals and I will continue to use their services as I believe they are great veterinarians. Unfortunately today I had an issue regarding a payment I had made in cash that was not applied to my account and I received a bill to pay said amount again. I called to speak to the office administrator about the issue. It was a small amount and I had no problem paying it but did not want to pay it twice. When the administrator got on the phone she was immediately hostile and accusing me of making false accusations. she said and I quote, "So what you're telling me is one of my staff stole the money." I replied with, "No! Not at all. What I'm saying is people make mistakes." She then continued to become more hostile with me in her tone and willingness to listen to my issue. The problem was not resolved and I an now stuck with paying double for a bill I only incurred once. My advice to all is be sure to get a receipt and if you have an issue just go in and speak to the doctor instead of the office administrator as she does not handle inquiries like this well. read more
