Sensei Brandon brings a lot of skill and makes the classes so much fun, Sensei Sasha cracks the whip and helps us become stronger. Speaking of strong, they have strong backgrounds is in Hawaiian Kenpo, and American Polynesian Shaolin Kenpo and have continued to advance their skills in other fighting styles. There are now three different locations to join including Florence Library, Anthem Parkside community center, and Copper Basin. This is an all ages program with different classes according to age or you can bring the whole crew and join the Florence Library family Karate class. We have watched so many kiddos gain confidence, gain discipline, overcome the natural flight instincts and learn to fight for their family, friends, and themselves. I have watched teens and adults become stronger in their sense of self and hone in on their skill ( and it's amazing to watch). Did I mention weapons training and sparring?! Also, we're a competitive Dojo so you'll be sure to see us out at competing in Karate tournaments at least a couple of times a year( not mandatory) and if you don't want to compete, we always welcome members to participate by cheering on the rest of our team. I was there for 6 years, the school education is horrible. Leading Edge is behind public and…read morecharter schools in the Valley, though it says otherwise. I had an IEP form that was not accurate or understandable when reviewed by my new school. The Leading Edge staff made changes to the information without my parent or guardians permission and knowledge. I had been threatened by the vice principal that she would be calling the cops due to throwing an empty plastic water bottle at a student who was physically assaulting another kid. The school staff, withheld my transcripts when they learned I was going to another school. My parents contacted LEA MULTIPLE TIMES, even going into the school to get them before we received the transcripts. Leading Edge staff protect bullies due to their parents being on staff. These students cause problems constantly but are never addressed, creating a sense of disruption, anxiety, and fear among the students. I and other students have had things stolen from our bags multiple times, and when the staff was told that the police would be involved the item would mysteriously return the next day in our bag. For Spirit week, the principal and vice principal dressed up in onesies and pacifiers, riding tricycles and talking to students like babies. They also had scoops of ice cream in their hands which they had students, of several grades, lick off. The students were then encouraged to do the same to each other in front of the school. Some teachers and staff treated the students really well, but the majority of the staff bullied and neglected the students.

My son loves CAC (he attends a different campus), but I need to write a review for this place, as…read morehe has special needs and I often travel to this location since it's the main campus. The issue I have with this location (and all its campuses) is that administration has terrible communication and accountability. I'm listed on my son's special release forms to be present if he requests it, and though I only go as needed and upon his request, the campus officials will tell me I can't be there (even though the forms clearly give me permission). I'm not there to be nosy or interfere. I'm simply there for the reason my son requested my presence and has given me and the school written consent. For accommodation requests, this has always been an issue where he'll schedule an appointment, go over the accommodations he needs, and receives an email a few days to a few weeks later, saying he needs to send in paperwork that has already been submitted. Not only that, but his teachers at his campus have said repeatedly they haven't received his accommodations, and emailing/calling the main location doesn't do much good because no one seems to communicate. I will say also that Jen in Accommodations is very sweet and thorough--I just wish I knew why her email wasn't shared with the rest of the department when it came to his paperwork because it was never submitted. When the social worker from the state came with him to help him with his accommodations and he filled out written consent forms for her as well, the staff at the Maricopa campus were rude and unhelpful to her, telling her they wouldn't speak to my son with her present. After repeatedly going in person, the staff told him he was set to go but never gave him an award letter, and wouldn't give him information upon request. There aren't a lot of options when it comes to classes, and because of low enrollment even for basic classes for core requirements, they end up cancelled. If you're seeking affordable classes, this is an okay option, but not one I'd personally recommend (and I say this as someone who attended a junior college in very rural, backwater East Texas with even fewer options). I will say that when I do bring him here, and he goes in to set up his appointments, the front desk staff go out of their way to help him, and he never has complaints from their assistance, even if they can't necessarily resolve the issues. Classes are often mixed up on his schedules or cancelled outright without notice, and he often has to come to this location just to receive answers, but he's happy. I write this as a parent of a special needs child entering adulthood, and I want to make other parents aware that this college has some severe communication issues, but does try to be helpful. It's a bit tough to navigate, but they do have locations in the smaller towns that may be beneficial to your children until they prepare to enter a 4 year university. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone unless you want to retake classes repeatedly and have permanent failures on your transcripts because staff can't do their jobs and refuse to coordinate or communicate. Go spend your money on a better school with quality staff.
