Wow, what a blessing to have Shintos in our area! Our finicky 17-year-old pup is still going strong and we would like to keep it that way! Lindsey and her team truly care about each and every pet and their hard work and dedication shines through in their magnificent product! I discovered Shinto's recently at the Marin County Farmer's Market (the one in San Rafael @ the Civic Center). So glad I did! Their pet food stand was a welcome change of pace from all the other farm/bakery vendors. Don't get me wrong - I love coming here for all the human food options. But it's nice when I can find yummy treats to bring home for my dog (while also supporting a local business). The lady working the Shinto's stand couldn't have been nicer. I told her that I was looking for a long-lasting bone for my pooch to chew on (and one that won't disappear after 10 minutes). She immediately recommended their Beef Femur Bones (I've attached a photo to their biz page gallery). These Flintstone-size bones are for pets 25 lbs and up. Best of all, they're gluten/soy/corn free. So you can rest assured that your dog is getting nothing but the good stuff. The Beef Fermur bone only wound up costing me 10 ($) bones. Maybe it's a bit pricey for a dog snack. But you know what - my dog's worth it! BTW, while the nice lady rang up my purchase, she handed me a free beef jerky treat to give to my dog. It was very kind of her. Long story short, Shinto's was a great, unexpected find. I can't wait to surprise my furry friend tonight with his special treat. We walked in the doors of Shinto's desperate for something more to help our 6 year old English Bulldog that was diagnosed with heart failure. Our dog hadn't been eating well for over a month and after her time in the ICU, was so thin and frail. We have been feeding Shinto's food to her for a month and a half now and her weight has regained. She is eager to eat each meal and is even wagging her tail and happy again. We aren't sure how much more time we will have with her but we truly feel that with the help of Shinto's we are giving her the best of the time she has left. Meeting with the owner at the shop was incredible as she guided us through the best options and educated us on what would work the best. She has responded to our questions along the way and the rest of the staff have been great as well. I highly recommend Shinto's! read more

I don't even know where to begin. We have a 2 1/2 year old French Bulldog, Max. For the first 2 years we fed him what we thought was top of the line kibble. We tried couple different top brands. From about 6 Mos - 2 years old, Max, puked up all his meals. It was the saddest. We tried everything to help. Slow feeder bowls, small increments, Vet Visits, nothing helped!! He would projectile vomit his water and all of his food multiple times per day. The amount of times we had to clean sofa and floor was daunting. The amount of $ we spent on paper towels, crazy! Not to mention our boy couldn't keep his nutrients down. We randomly visited Shintos and decided when there to put him through their 15 week food cleanse. We had nothing to lose. Within a couple weeks, our boy no longer puked at all. On top of that, he seemed happier and much more well behaved. The amount of $ we spend on food makes him healthier and happier and we are no longer spending $ on food he's not processed, and also not going through cases of paper towel and loads of laundry. Finding Shintos was a miracle! We love stopping in once a week for his meals, and getting all the delish fresh treats. It's seriously the best for our boy and Natalie has been so helpful from day 1! I am so grateful I met Lindsey at Farmers Market last Sunday. My 15.5 year old dog has kidney disease, pancreatitis, IBD and cancer and was recently dehydrated with loss of appetite and energy. Tried to reach out to Shintos on 5 different occasions to ask a question. I am a caregiver for people in their 90's so hard to drive to a store simply to ask a question. They could not be bothered to return a single call. The calls were made during their normal business hours so no excuse. Will be shopping elsewhere. Disappointing. read more

I'm an amazon delivery driver, I delivered a package to the owner at the grass valley location and she gave me some turkey and beef liver treats for my dog. Aside from the owner being very friendly, those treats were like crack for my dog. I have literally never seen her enjoy something so much in her life!!! I met Lindsey working at the San Mateo farmers market and decided to give Shinto's a try. My 8 year old dachshund, Bella, has been struggling with intervertebral disc disease for about a year and I thought trying something new would help her. I have been feeding her Shinto's for about 4 months now and there is a remarkable difference in her coat, overall energy levels, and mood. I give her Shinto's glucosamine supplement for her back and there has been a marked improvement in her ability to move her right leg (the one most affected by her condition). I trust all the ingredients Lindsey uses since they are all things I would eat myself. I also appreciate Lindsey's approach to slightly cooking the proteins and veggies as opposed to keeping them raw which has become a huge dog fad recently. If you ever make it to her markets she will educate you on just about everything there is to know about pet gut health and is just really pleasant to chat with. When I first used Shintos Food, Lindsay (the owner and executive chief) said after his first bowl feeding that Simon would thank me .... right. Well after his first bowl, Simon, a 6 year old 65 lb Aussie and very serious about food, jumped up, put his paws on my chest and proceeded to lick my face with enormous enthusiasm. Damm! He thanked me. Within a few days Simon's energy doubled (imagine that, an Aussie with double energy). He was happier ... and I never thought Simon could be happier!
