I have a 1986 Jason D/C Fish & Ski that I bought new. It has a 90hse Mercury outboard and I've used ShipShape as my Marine service over the years. My latest endeavor was to have my lower unit serviced because I thought it was time and the water coming out of the pee hole was felling hot to the touch. They got me in and serviced the lower unit -- (new grease & impeller). Picked the boat up and took it to the lake the next weekend. After launching and starting the motor it developed a pinging noise. I thought a cylinder was going bad ? I called Larry and told him -- he told me to bring it in and they'd check it out. I did, they checked the compression, it was fine, and they pulled the plugs and they were shot! My fault they had not been changed for a few years. The moral of the story is: over the years I've had a lot of minor work done and they were always honest, stood behind their work and explained why they had to do something. I have had 3 experiences in working with Ship Shape Marine. All were outstanding. Two of the experiences were with on-line ordering of parts and I worked with Elizabeth. She was fantastic as in my first order I was looking for an air intake cowl for my 1992 Bayliner Capri, not only did Elizabeth send me a pic of the cowl, but she went out into the yard and took of video of the entire boat, saying, "I thought it would be helpful to see everything on a salvage boat we just got in, just in case you decide you need something else." That video led me to drive from Atlanta to Smyrna to check out the salvage boat. That also led me to meet the owner of the business, Larry. Larry was very helpful and our interaction led me to purchase just about everything inside the salvage boat. And, the price that Larry suggested was, in my mind, quite fair. I was on vacation with my family at Tim's Ford Lake when our 2013 Malibu Wakesetter started having issues and warning lights and buzzers going off. We took the boat to a local dealer and after a few days they told me it would be 10-14 days before they could even look at the boat. My brothers and their kids were visiting from out of state and my wife was not happy about our boat being out of commission the entire week! I called four-five other shops and they all said that they could not even look at it for at lest a week. I am so grateful that I found Ship Shape online. I am very pleased with the honesty, integrity and professionalism at Ship Shape. We are new boat owners had the boat out twice and found out we had a real issue with our motor.
