This location is opened 24 hours. After a movie with my mate we came here to get two glazed donuts; the guy that assisted told us they only had white & strawberry frosted donuts along with chocolate. There really is no substitute for Shipley. Currently living on the East Coast, Dunkin' Donuts are a dime a dozen and they serve their purpose but don't really offer much to excited about. Krispy Kreme offers tasty goodness - especially when you get the donuts hot off the conveyor belt - but they're hard to come by and leave you in a sugar coma each time. Shipley, however, offers tastiness, a variety of donuts, solid kolaches, and all without leaving you too weighed down or overly sugared up. The drive thru at this location is a popular choice but the staff inside are also awesome, hardworking, efficient, and friendly. Also, I like to go in and eyeball what I'm considering buying so I don't parttake of the drive thru to be able to comment on its efficiency. This location is older and not modern/slick but that doesn't faze me. All I know is whenever I'm back down in East Houston, I look forward to hitting up this Shipley Do-Nut! read more

This Shipley's location is pretty good considering the area. The employees are friendly and helpful and the donuts are usually pretty fresh, though I find that I'm rarely able to get there when they're actually still hot. On the downside, their drive through sucks, it's narrow and is a minefield of potholes. They close the inside early (understandably, considering the neighborhood and the homeless population that mills about) but the biggest irritation is how often there's a line of like 20 cars. I often drive to Atascocita and go to Dunkin just to avoid sitting in the long line. read more

This Shipley Do-nut has been here as long as I can remember, but you really can't question why because Donut's are awesome... and the east side of Houston has agreed! These little (evil) desserts are the best when fresh. When they are fresh, the dough is hot and the glaze is just melty. It's almost as if the donut has powers to make you smile and grab another. The question now is, which one is better? Dunkin? Krispy? Mom and Pop shops? Personally, I find them all good. Dunkin Donuts is good for their cake like texture, atmosphere, and seasonal flavors (like red velvet with cream cheese glaze). Krispy is good for their warm melt-in-your-mouth donut. My go-to place for Shipley's has always been this location. They're 24 hours, quick service and majority of the time their donuts always taste fresh. However, there was recently a news clip that said they failed an inspection as there were concerns with them reusing leftover donuts and cooking without gloves. I was a bit leery at first but today I went by around 10pm and all "appeared" to be good from the drive thru window. The service is always nice and I always witness the workers making the donuts with gloves. Today was no different. Donuts were good so I'll continue my business. read more

I've hear about Shipley for a long time, and finally decided to try it out while I was in Houston. A friend of mines swears they're the best donuts hands down. Better than all the national brands we know. So I decided to put Shipley to the test to see if the rumors were true ... and (drumroll) ... they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! True to the rumors I heard, they were amazingly good. Their batter is unique, somewhere between crescent like and cake, but closer to crescent. It's almost the best of both worlds! Like is crescent donuts and cake donuts got together and had a child, it would be Shipley. With the child taking a slight more resemblance to the crescent, but not so much that you forget cake do it had a part in it too. Another thing I loved about it, is that is was not overly sweet. I didn't feel like I was going to go into a diabetic coma afterwards. It was sweet, yet subtle. It was perfect for me and I would definitely grab one again one a cheat day the next time I'm back in Houston! read more

These guys beat Krispy Kreme's and Dunkin' Donuts. The drive-thru is really narrow. It's almost an impossible squeeze for a standard F-150.

We asked for a dozen donut holes at least twice and STILL didn't get the donut holes. I asked for strawberry glazed and the woman at the window came back and simply said "cherry" I asked if there were any strawberry glazed and she said no. I don't write reviews much but My fiancé and I just got Shipley's for the first time in a while last night through door dash.... and we both got food poisoning!! We got a sausage and cheese kolache and even though they were cold, hard, and the sausage was weird/burnt, we ate them anyways because we were hungry. We also got donut holes which were okay.
