I had a major mishap with my original wedding dress. Kelli had me come in last minute( December 23rd)to help me get my dream wedding dress, only a week and a half before my Hawaii wedding. She put me at ease. Truly taking the time to find what I wanted, no rushing me or trying to get me to buy a dress. She made my whole wedding dress experience enjoyable. Kelli was so helpful and I found the dress of my dreams, and it wasn't the dress I thought was going to look good....but the one Kelli showed me was perfect. When you're an older bride, just try to find a dress that doesn't make you look like the mother of the bride or a cupcake with a ton of frosting! It's not easy. Oh, and my wedding is in nine weeks, and most dresses take six months to order! After looking online and a couple of other local stores, i planned to go to Portland or San Francisco to find something. But my fiancé stumbled upon Shirley's, and since it was close, I gave them a try. The store has a huge selection, but most of the dresses would be too elaborate for my informal wedding. Luckily, Linda helped me, and after I told her what I was looking for, she understood. She pulled a few dresses out of the racks for me to try. One was almost right, and I was about to settle for it (it was beautiful, but fancier than I wanted), when she urged me to try on one I'd passed over before. It looked okay on the rack, but on, it was just what I wanres. Simple, elegant and different enough to be interesting. And it fit nearly perfectly right off the rack. All told, it took less than an hour to find the right dress, thanks to a salesperson who listens, knows the inventory inside and out, and who has a great eye. Wonderful experience! I had been in contact with Kathie for over a month - - texting and calling each other back and forth because I had been looking for two specific dresses. She tried her hardest to find the dresses but was unable to find them. I couldn't even find the dresses in Chicago, where I live, so no biggie. She was very invested in finding me the perfect dress and she did! The dress I ended choosing was absolutely gorgeous and even better then what I had my mind set on in the first place. Shirley's stored my dress for 8 months and then mailed it to me safely when I was ready to have it. As the future mother in law of the bride that had her special day with Kelli at Shirley's Bridal, I can't begin to gush enough about the service, selection, and flexibility. She went above and beyond to make the day special for our bride, even coming in when the shop was closed to make it happen. Kelli was patient with the whole wedding party, making sure each person found the dress perfect for them. When it came to the bride, Kelli made sure to pay extra attention, and made sure she found the perfect dress(es) for her special day. I can't speak highly enough of the transformation Kelli has made to this business, and it's truly unfortunate that the previous business rating has to follow her, as she is truly a class act! I wish she was in business when my daughter got married, because this experience was FAR superior to our last. Her prices are also very fair, and she will go out of her way to make sure you have the size, color and style you are looking for. This review isn't specifically for Shirley or her Bridal Boutique. It is for their seamstress, Pamela. I purchased my dress 2.5 years ago from Shirley's and was always very clear about the alterations I wanted done to the dress. They assured me they would be no problem and that Pamela was the best. When I met with Pamela and brought in the specific fabric I wanted used for the alterations and discussed what I wanted done, Pamela agreed and told me she would have no problem making them. We discussed varying fabric color to make sure we were on the same page. I gave her the fabric that I had purchased myself. When I showed up for my final fitting and tried on the dress, I immediately saw that she did not use the fabric I had purchased and gave to her that we had agreed upon. She took it upon herself to use a completely different fabric with a different color/shade. When I asked her about it, she said "I looked at both and was happy/thrilled to see this one looked better." When I asked her where the fabric was that I gave her, she said she must have forgotten it back at her sewing studio. She never called me to ask or consult with me before making the alterations. When I asked her for a refund, she said she would "fix" it for me but she does not do refunds. However, I did not trust her to fix it because she never called me the first time when she decided by herself to make changes without speaking to me first. Now, I am out $260, the fabric I purchased and gave to her, and will need to pay a new seamstress (who actually listens to me). read more

Unfortunately, my experience with Shirley's Bridal Salon has been terrible from beginning to end. My friend won a private bridesmaids dress fitting through a raffle the wedding expo at the armory, and we showed up ready to have a fun time and find a dress for her special day. We all left feeling severely disappointed. From the style selection, to Shirley's (lack of) customer service skills. First off, the dress style selection left much to be desired. I don't think any of the available styles have been updated since 2003. Incredibly gaudy, tacky, and outdated. Secondly, Shirley couldn't remember the brides name. Throughout the whole three hours we were there, she didn't get her name right even ONCE. Additionally, at several points while measuring us bridesmaids, she made very discouraging comments on our body types. Telling the tinier ones that they needed to "put more meat on their bones" and telling the others that they could invest in shape wear to have the dresses "fit right". Thankfully, she allowed us to put the dresses on a payment plan, which was very convenient seeing as we were dress shopping 9 months before the wedding. In that time, Shirley has been calling and harassing us for months trying to get us to pay it off in full. I understand her frustration, but we have signed papers stating that we are responsible for the dresses & we have already put money down for them. Yesterday, she called and when I said I could get it paid off soon, but my other (monthly) bills take a priority over a dress I won't need until September, she told me to get my priorities straight. Today, she charged the brides debit card for all the bridesmaids dresses. She did not receive authorization to charge the card. The bride was not responsible for our bridesmaids dresses. We have all signed papers saying we are individually responsible for our own dresses. The bride has already spoken to her bank and reversed the charge, and Shirley is now withholding the brides dress until we come in and get our dresses. At this point, I no longer want to give Shirley my hard earned money, but I feel OBLIGATED to because she is holding the brides dress hostage. Take your money elsewhere, I am typically all for supporting local businesses over corporate chains, but I wish we had gone to David's bridal or something similar. read more

Personally I had such a wonderful experience shopping at Shirley's! I was looking for a specific dress and couldn't find it in a store anywhere in the Valley, Bend, or Portland. After calling multiple locations, Kathie at Shirley's was the only person who tried to help offer an alternative to my specific taste. She even gave me her cell number & text me pictures of comparable dresses they had in stock! I was scheduled in for an appointment the next day....and to be honest the dress that Kathie had suggested is even MORE beautiful than the original one I was searching for! I visited Shirley's Fashion Boutique and Bridal Salon last summer shortly after getting engaged. My fiance and I are having a long engagement, but I just wanted to see the selection at local bridal salons so I could get a head start on my planning. Unfortunately, Shirley was thoroughly unhelpful. When I walked in, the boutique was empty, except for the owner. She grumpily interrogated me about my wedding date, and then promptly told me to come back in two years. When I told her I was simply looking for boutiques the carried tea-length dresses, she told me that I didn't want a tea-length dress. She said that unless this was a second marriage, I would most likely regret a non-traditional gown. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Shirley's Fashion Boutique & Bridal Salon. Even though we're holding our wedding in Ashland, I chose to travel down to Northern California to purchase my dress, and I've opted for other local boutiques and vendors for my bridal accessories. Not only do they sell beautiful dresses, Shirley herself saved my wedding day when I dropped a raspberry down the front of my dress at my luncheon! She calmly walked us through how to get the potential stain out and by the reception that night - no one noticed a thing! I just went in there the other day and was so excited to see she is now carrying LipSense!! Brides - if you don't know what LipSense is...GO NOW!!! My daughter and I made an appointment to start the process of dress shopping as the wedding is in 8 months and we had some concerns about all the delays you hear about these days. Shirley worked with us the whole time with great patience and friendly observations. Never any pressure or judgement. Luckily for us my beautiful daughter is tall and easy to fit. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Myself and my 3 bridesmaids walked into this store and were immediately met by (who we later found out to be) Shirley. She asked if we had an appointment and we replied "no, we're just looking". We were given the stink I by Shirley. Essentially, we were not allowed to try on ANYTHING without being helped! In addition, she was bashing the other bridal boutiques in town and stated "Good luck! Hahaha" when we told her we would be going to those very boutiques. We turned and walked out. We went to another store in town where we were met by staff and told to look around and try on anything. They even went out of their way to squeeze us in to a fitting without taking away from people they already had scheduled. I talked to a few other brides about their experiences with Shirley and they ALL stated they turned around and walked out the door after their first experience with this owner. And no pictures? Really? I have no idea how this lady is still in business. If this is the way that she treats someone who is willing to spend a few thousand dollars, imagine how she treats her employees. I feel sorry for anyone who has to endure this lady. On the store itself, it was very cramped and dresses to jammed in there. In the very short time we were in the store, you could not see very many dresses. It was a maze in there. Final word, I don't like writing bad reviews, but when I come across a business owner as rude as Shirley, I want to warn as many people as possible! read more

I was so pleased with Shirleys fashion boutique. The selection was the best I've seen. I made an appointment and I was treated like royalty!! I ordered my dress and bridesmaids dresses. Shirley warned me beforehand about the sizing on the bridesmaids dresses. (Some girls think they are a 6 when they are really an 8 especially in formal wear) We measured the girls so that all the dresses would fit perfectly. Overall I was so happy. I wish I could give this place NO stars! I should've known better than to go with this dress shop after the first phone call... I had found a beautiful bridesmaids dress in a magazine only to find that the nearest store that carried it was Shirley's. (We live about an hour away) I called to see if the dress was in stock so that I could send my three bridesmaids over to try it on. I was rudely told that they did have the dress and that the girls could only come in to try it on if they planned on making their purchase there... (RED FLAG #1!!) When two of the girls arrived a few days later, the store did NOT have the dress! (RED FLAG #2!!) Shirley assured them that there would be no problem that she could take their measurements and order the dresses for them. She told them that they would each need size 6 dresses. They both wear size 3/4 normally but when they tried telling Shirley that she insisted that they trust her. (RED FLAG #3!!) My third bridesmaid, who usually wears a size 6/8, had to give her measurements over the phone. She was told by Shirley to order a size 12! My bridesmaid refused to order a size 12 knowing it would be too big, and ordered a size 10. After a few months of waiting, we contacted the shop to check on the status of the dresses that were ordered, only to find out that they were already in. Someone had failed to notify us.. The two size 6 girls went to pick up their dresses together only to be devastated one they tried them on. The dresses were WAY too big on them! Shirley asked them if they wanted to take the third dress with them also and when she brought it out, they could not believe how humongous it looked and called me immediately. Shirley had ordered a size 12 after all! They left the dress there and brought their own dresses home anyway planning on getting them altered. A few days later the third bridesmaid was able to try on one of the girls' size 6 dresses, and it fit her perfectly. She called the store and spoke with Shirley, explaining the whole situation in hopes of getting a refund. She was interrupted, yelled at and ultimately hung up on. I am a business owner myself, and I would NEVER ever treat a client in this manner. I am completely appalled at the lack of professionalism of this establishment and frankly, I cant understand how this woman stays in business! We had seen so many negative reviews around, my mom and I were worrying about the kind of service we would receive there. Honestly, the only reason we even went was because it was the only dress shop in Oregon that carried the dress that I had seen online and wanted to try on. We are local to Salem, so it was quite a long drive from our home to the boutique. My intention was to just try on the dress to see how it fit before ordering it from a bridal salon nearer to Salem. We made the road trip and arrived about an hour early. Upon entering the shop, we found it to be crowded, but clean and neatly organized. We spoke to the lady at the counter, Kathy, who took us in right away. When we let her know I was only interested in the one dress and that I would likely not be purchasing today, she was very understanding and cordial. She brought the dress, even suggested a few little touches like a belt that would be nice. In the end, I wasn't please with the fit of that dress, but since I was having such a good experience, I asked for similar dresses. She brought me about five before I found THE ONE. It was a close-out, and marked down 20% off. There was a tiny bit of damage to a bow at the front of the gown that I didn't like anyway and planned to have replaced. The rest of the gown was flawless. When I expressed concern about color, veils, headpieces, etc... She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was so thrilled with everything that I decided to go ahead and purchase the dress and veil on the spot. Not only did I get an additional discount because of the inconsequential damage, which essentially made my veil free, they also threw in a free blue garter! I'm not sure how Shirley the owner is, but Kathy was great. If it wasn't so out of my way, I would have everything done there. I took it down a point because they had no garment bags, and I was a little uncomfortable with Kathy in the room with me while I changed (though she was extremely professional). I wish she had asked if I wanted her to step out. She was also a little bit pressing (not pushy, mind) when it came to making the sale. After reading the reviews, I was a bit hesitant to go here, but wanted to try on some of the brands they had. It's definitely a bit overwhelming to dig through racks of dresses on your own, and the way they are labeled was different than the names of dresses online, so it's a bit confusing. If you're looking for something specific I'd call first and ask. Kathie helped me during my appointment, and it took a little bit for her to warm up, but after a few dresses, it seemed like she was really getting into it and became more helpful finding dresses for me. She had some great suggestions on how to customize dresses and i could tell she's experienced in this area. Although I didn't end up buying my dress here, I would recommend this shop for the large variety of dresses available to try on. Oh, and you're not supposed to take pics in the dressing room, heads up. read more

Horrible customer service. I ordered 6 bridesmaid dresses from this place. Only 3 actually fitted. One was too tight and the other two were far too big. My fiancé called for me to see if there was anything we could do to get the dresses exchanged for difference sizes. He spoke to an associate who was kind and said she would have her manager call back to figure out a solution. The manager called my fiancé and immediately stated "I already spoke to the bride about this happening because your bridesmaids are "bigger" girls." She spoke to him so rudely and condescendingly and barely even let him speak. He had to even tell her to stop being so rude so that he could just explain the situation. They were unwilling to listen to him and unwilling at all to see if there was anything we could do. One of my bridesmaids even called the place herself. She was told that she "better find a good seamstress." I have never seen a business give such horrible service to paying customers. We didn't even blame them for the issue, we were just hoping to get different sizes so that my bridesmaids would not have to pay so much more for their dresses. Planning a wedding is stressful enough and these people are in the business of helping celebrate a very special day... They should not be adding even more stress to the occasion. I will start out by saying, if I could give this place zero stars, believe me I would. We were super excited to go in and have our bride try on her first few dresses after becoming an engaged woman. After 10 minutes we knew this place was NOT for us. How would you feel going from happy and being on cloud nine, to being told you could "lose a few pounds" to "you'll be wasting your time going somewhere else"..... Seeing my friend, the bride, with a smile walking in to just sadness with a dress on, made me want to scream. I too wish I could give this shop 0 stars--This was the worst experience I have ever had with a speciality shop of any kind. The owner Shirley is a grumpy know-it-all person, I wanted to order 3 flower girl dresses and she was totally unhelpful. She wanted to order a girl's size 10 dress for one of the girls who normally wears a size 7. She did not have good product knowledge and told me that I was wrong and that a size 10 would be fine (no way possible). I went home and researched the brand again on the internet and found that the dress I wanted came in children's plus sizes and that I needed a size 7 plus by their size charts. The dress also came in three lengths (which she never told me about) and I saved alteration money by being able to order the correct length for each girl. If I could have ordered the dresses somewhere else I would have---Shirley's was the only shop within 100 miles that carried the brand that I wanted. I have not gotten the dresses yet, and reading the other reviews, I only hope that they arrive on time and are the right sizes. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Okay---having said that--I should have learned my lesson from my 1st dealing with this shop, but I did not. I saw a mother of the bride's dress that I liked. I bought it, and she did not explain their no refund or exchange policy, nor was it on the receipt. When I got the dress home and was taking it out of the car I saw that the black lace was actually purple in the sunlight--yet the dress and trim were all black. The dress and lace looks black in the store light. When I took it back and told her that the dress was defective she told me that she does not give refunds, so don't even ask. She would not refund my money for the defective dress, or exchange it---I HAD NEVER WORN IT. Needless to say---This is not a customer oriented business. I ordered a dress for a friends wedding over the phone. I gave her my measurements and she told me I was a 10. I assured her I was usually a 6 or and 8 but she assured me the sizes ran large, So I ordered a 10. My friends went to pick up their dresses and told me there must have been a mistake, they had a 12 there for me... I tried on my friends size 6, which fit perfectly and called and asked for my deposit back because they ordered the wrong size. She refused, saying I was the one who was wrong, started yelling at me, and then hung up on me. they don't know what they are doing and they don't care about their customers. Buyer beware!!! Unbelievably friendly place with a LOT of dresses, in all price ranges and sizes. We got great advice, great service, very easy going. The dressing rooms are very large and roomy. We showed up without an appointment, they took the time to squeeze us in!!! They were not pushy or rude. They have a wide variety of dresses; you are allowed to look for yourself to see what you might like to try on! They understood what we were saying and worked with us, always with a smile. I think every bride needs to give this place a try!! 14 years ago we used Shirley's when they were on Main St. in Medford. The store was smaller, but we had the same great service, I am happy another daughter gets the experience of purchasing a dress with no stress from Shirley's! Earlier in the day I went with my daughter to another wedding place (in Central Point-has a big diamond ring on top of its sign), the woman was far from friendly, pushed her opinions on us, made us feel our price range was inferior would not let us 'browse' the wedding dresses, and they had expensive dresses.... I agree with H.D. I too would give this salon 0 stars if it were an option. If as a bride or bridesmaid you have any option to go to another salon, then I would skip this place all together. After reading other's reviews and speaking with my bridesmaid about her experience it is clear the owner and staff do not care about their clientele at all. Our experience: I am the bride, and to make my bridesmaid's jobs easier, I contacted the salon closest to each of them to initiate the dress buying process by inquiring about the styles available in stock. I emailed the salon at the address on their website, but got no response whatsoever. My bridesmaid contacted the salon to make an appointment and inquired about the dress styles available. On the phone, she was told the staff did not have time to check the stock and see which styles they had available so she would have to come in and just find the dresses she needed when she got there. Upon arrival, the staff was rude and unhelpful. She was told she must find the styles she was looking for on her own and it turns out that after she had driven 90 minutes with her husband and 2 children the salon only had 3 of 8 styles I was hoping she could try on. Save yourself the headache and frustration and go elsewhere!!!! read more

I am very disappointed with ther customer service. I went in on a Sat found a gown and two brides maids dresses, Total was around $1400. I place my deposit for all three gowns. Called on Mon to verify that I wanted the back in lace up, The following sat (1 wk later) There was an medical issue with my fiance we had to cancel our wedding. I immediatly called to cancel the dresses she refused she they were already ordered to bad. Really I would have been happy with an in store credit, but flat out refusel to help cancel or stop the dresses five days later.
