a bowl of soup and a bowl of rice

The young man at the register was nice and helpful. Clean location. The chicken tasted fine, a little spicy but that's to be expected. The rice could have been a bit more tender. I ordered two different types of naan bread but unfortunately didn't like either one.

    Chicken biryani with raita

Good food, best eaten as take out. There is seating inside but it lacks an inviting atmosphere for dining in.

    Samosa chat

Tried it for the very first time. Honestly samosa chat wasn't that bad but not great, also quantity was very less. Butter chicken was watery and chicken felt undercooked, not edible, very disappointed. Garlic naan was mediocre.

Great little place with a tasty Rava masala dosa and the accompanying coconut chutney and sambar.

Always great food. Tried once now have to buy at least once a week. As generic as chicken tikka masala is, it sure is delicious. Must try

I have eaten here 4 times now and have been happy each time. I'm rather new to Indian cuisine but everything I've tried has been delicious.

Tulsi feels extravagant and upscale from the moment you enter. The lighting was lovely, each of the different lamps exquisitely lining the walls provided a golden hue throughout the space. We were seated immediately with no reservations. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, great for couples to catch up and talk about their days or get to know one another. Our server was attentive and polite. He gave us time to peruse the menu at our leisure, while he brought out the gratis before-the-meal appetizer. It was like a crispy naan with three distinctly different sauces. It really was quite delicious. I ordered the Chicken Konkani and my partner had the Chicken Curry. As connoisseurs of a great many Indian restaurants, we quite enjoyed the entrees at Tulsi. I savored the coconut creaminess of the Konkani. I also tried my partner's curry, and it had a rich aromatic flavor as well. We didn't try dessert because we were simply too stuffed by the end. The choices were almost tempting enough to persuade me, but we refrained. Tulsi is for lovers, just like Virginia, so we were in great company. I wholeheartedly recommend giving this spot a chance. We will definitely be back to partake in the fine dining experience on offer here.

It's on Cary Street near CanCan, across from Buffalo Exchange. The decor is pretty and welcoming. I was surprised they weren't busy. I think there was maybe one or two more tables when we arrived right after noon. For our drinks I got a glass of Pinot Grigio and my husband got a smoked old fashioned. Water for everyone. They also brought out crackers with sauces for as a starter. We ordered chili chicken, paneer, and shrimp pakora. All were good. Entrees included garlic naan, tandoori chicken, tandoori chicken and shrimp, lamb vindaloo and chicken korma. Everything was good but we definitely ordered too much food. It's worth a visit if you're in the area. Large portions and tasty food in a lovely atmosphere.

Parking is a little dicey in the surrounding neighborhood, but they have their own lot, which I didn't know beforehand. The menu is broad. While tofu is not a core Indian foodstuff, it goes great with all sorts of classic sauces, and I tried a South Indian curry that gave a rich spice hit, even at medium hot. My bhindi masala was excellent, preserving the crispness of the vegetables and carrying a warm flavor with hints of cinnamon. The samosa chaat was on the smaller side, but flavorwise was excellent, including some pomegranate arils. They gave me a free dessert, which is fine enough. I spend a lot of time craving Indian food and virtually none of it thinking about the desserts, which seems to be a widespread preference among Americans. As to the main course, however, they had abundant options for all dietary needs, and the flavors were on point.

This place seems to do a lot of takeout, and I can see why. The food was wonderfully savory and duly affordable. The service was quick and prompt. We were seated within seconds of arriving. Our server gave us time to peruse the menu without pestering us for our order. We settled on chicken, ordering the coconut konkani, and my partner got something savory. I like the sweet and spicy, so I went with level 3. We tried the samosas for an appetizer, also delicious. I can wholeheartedly recommend Bajra Indian Bistro, a true hidden gem. Bring your friends and be ready to taste something amazing.
