We were in the mood for Indian food and this restaurant was the closest. Upon arrival, I noticed there are plenty of parking spaces. Next, they have a nice outdoor seating area which many took advantage of because the weather was beautiful for an end of May day. Once inside, I didn't see a host, but a gentlemen at the bar asked how many. He looked like the owner. A second later, we were seated by our waiter. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and everything was clean and easily accessible. We ordered the garlic naan. It came with 2 big pieces and a green dipping sauce that tastes like cilantro. Yum! We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture. For dinner, I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. It had onions and pepper and it was a gravy with a buttery taste. It came with basmati rice. It was amazing! My husband that loves spicy food ordered the Lamb Shahi Korma with a side of heat sauce. He said the hot sauce was very flavorful and the lamb was tender. Everything was sooooo good, we needed extra basmati rice and it was included. Overall, the ambience was pleasant and relaxing. The employees were super nice. I did have to put on my jacket because it was a little cold for me inside, but I love it that way. When we left, we were sent off with goodbyes and thank you. We definitely will return. We want to check out their buffet. As a tip, if you go online to their website, you can see a picture of all of their menu items. One thing though, my internet was spotty inside, so you might want to do that beforehand including transferring money if that's something you might need to do. read more

The weekend buffet was awesome. The Tandori chicken was the best. Moist juicy and tasted traditional. Best buffet, all of the food was delicious. I have eaten dinner there a few times, but I have become a huge fan of the buffet lunch. This family run enterprise serves up a wide variety and customizable India cuisine. They have no freezer, so food is made daily by the owner. You can choose from a wide variety of cuisine style; choose your meats and spice level. Portions are perfect. Service attentive, ambiance pleasant, but nothing beats the food. Yummy! My husband and I got take out. We had Makhani w veggies. One dish is more than enough to feed two people. The dish was chocked full of flavorful cauliflower, beans and various fresh veggies. So my rating is ONLY based on food quality** I would have given 5 stars .. except both of my experiences eating at the actual restaurant have been very strange.. I'll get into that later. Food is amazing! Very delicious and one of the best Indian restaurants in the area imo. I have ordered take out several times from here highly recommend the samosas! I pretty much always get the same main dish (paneer) which is amazing but I've tried several other dishes at the buffet and everything is very good. I recommended checking out the buffet if you're not sure what you might like this way you can try multiple items and see. Ok but here's the thing-- I've dined in here specifically FOR the buffet twice and both times Ive felt really uncomfortable. There is a particular member of the waitstaff who seems to be way too overbearing and OVERLY personal? I know that seems harsh but he's just very much in your face every couple of minutes and speaking to me/the people I'm eating with like he knows us personally? (To the point where, and this is my bad, he reprimanded me for resting my foot on an empty chair at my table while dining with a friend recently. He then came back 5 min later and apologized saying "if there weren't customers here I wouldn't mind." Am I not a customer? ) anyway, Don't get me wrong-- friendly and helpful waitstaff is great!! Something about his interactions have just given me a really bad vibe both times. Even though I really liked the buffet I don't think I'll be back in. I probably will still order takeout. We are likely moving out of midlothian soon and there are other equally awesome Indian places in the city so I doubt I'll be making a trip to come over here specifically for that.. but! If you're in the area, like Indian food, or want to give it a try (and okay with a somewhat intrusive waitstaff) def give it a go! Takeout is always an option too read more

This is the best Indian food I've ever had. I got takeout here on 6/4/22 and this was my first time trying this place, boy it didn't disappoint. I drive by this place at least 4 times a week and finally decided to give it a try. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant. I will probably get or at least once a week going forward. We had never been to Saheb, but was asked to buy a gift certificate from Saheb for a wedding gift, as this is the couple's favorite restaurant. We picked up a menu at that time and became very interested in the menu. We went today for lunch and found out there is also a lunch buffet. We both chose items from the menu, both appetizers and Vindaloo and the Malabar Curry. Both dishes as well as the Honey Garlic Shrimp appetizer, were really good! We also got a LARGE bottle of the Indian beer-which was excellent. We received the Naan before our food arrived, and was offered sauces from the buffet while we waited for our food. We also tried the Garlic Naan with our meal. Another win!! Service was friendly and rapid, and the tables, both inside and out filled quickly with a lunch crowd. Many chose the buffet and appeared quite happy with their choices. This restaurant is in the prior site of Pescados, in the Food Lion Shopping Center at Woolridge and Midlothian Turnpike. Many in our area are familiar with this site. It had been recently redecorated just before COVID. It now appears to be family owned, and everyone was very helpful to every table! Our food was plentiful, so we were offered containers to bring the leftovers home--enough for one or two more meals! Will say this was a great decision for lunch and we will be returning soon, hopefully to have dinner. Even if you are a novice to Indian food as I am, you will find plenty to try and enjoy. I always recommend it to my out-of-town friends and family because it is so good and I want more people to try Indian food. The service is always top-notch, with a friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Now, let's talk about the food! It's up to you, but we always do a family style--passing around the different gravies, rice, and appetizers. The dishes are always incredible and can be ordered at a spice level Americans without spice tolerance can enjoy, making it the perfect place to try Indian food for the first time. For those who are new to Indian cuisine, I highly recommend starting with the Chilly Gobhi and Fish Amritsari for appetizers. For the main course, you can't go wrong with Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, and/or Chicken Biryani. If you decide on one of the gravies (Tikka Masala, Korma, or Curry) you'll want to order Rice--which mixes great into the gravy--and Garlic Naan to eat with. If you're bold enough, you won't need your fork to eat the gravy--just the Naan. Personally, my favorite dish is the Lamb Curry with the Rice and Garlic Naan. The lamb is cooked to perfection and the curry flavor of the gravy is not what Americans would expect. If you can handle spice, I also recommend increasing the heat. Overall, Saheb is the perfect place to go for a fantastic meal, whether you're a seasoned Indian food lover or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a must-visit. read more

We finally got to eat here. On Sundays they have a small but filling lunch buffet. The food is quite good and there is enough variety for most people. The self serve line is tight and awkward, but works. Unless you know Indian food, you will not know what you are eating. They only have the name of the item. So for me, this was difficult as I do not know the names of Indian food (or what's in it). If you want to take a blind culinary culture trip, try Sundays and at only $15, it's a pretty good trip. read more

This restaurant has a more homespun atmosphere than many I've been to. It's quaint with character. The menu is pretty standard with curries, korma, naan, chutneys, etc. we had hoped to try experience the buffet so we could quickly determine our favorites. Sadly we are accustomed to buffets being weekdays b only, while this one is weekends only. No Problem. We just need to plan accordingly. Sadly, all Indian restaurants we've been to seem to charge for each chutney as a side, versus bringing a tray of sauces to the table for customers to enjoy variety with their meal. The food is good. We had naan, lamb curry and probably korma. I think we had calamari. It's not the best Indian food I've had, but I wouldn't refuse an invitation to meet friends there for dinner. read more

We've since been back and tried the samosas, baingan bharta, and cheesy kulcha. We knew we were in trouble when we walked to the front door and saw a sign saying this restaurant needed wait staff, cooks, dishwasher, etc. It took 8 minutes just to be seated (and no one was in line in front of us). It took 15 minutes to be given menus and utensils. Another 5 for water. A full 25 minutes to be served our meal, and then another 20 to get our check. The food was tasty, but NOT worth the wait. Wow! We ordered take out from Saheb recently and we were absolutely shocked by how good everything was. Who knew there was such excellent Indian food this deep in midlo?! We've eaten a lot of Indian food in Richmond and Saheb might be our favorite now. They had items on the menu we'd never tried before, like the malai kofta and mirchi pakora. We also got the chicken makhani and garlic naan. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. It was packaged well for take out and portions were generous. We will be back! read more

My wife and I visited saheb Indian bistro for lunch today and we were blown away with how wonderful the food was. We started with the jalapeño fritters which we had never heard of before and couldn't believe how tasty they were. You could tell they were fresh jalapeños that had some heat but not too much. My wife keeps remarking that this will be a repeat dish when we go back. Our other entrées were excellent and honestly couldn't be better. It was one of those dishes that after we ate 3/4 of it we were full but it was so good that we both polished off the plates. The mango lassi which helps curb some of the heat, was nice and thick and delicious. Needless to say, we will be returning here again in the very near future and bringing friends with us. read more
