I ordered takeout, and arrived to an empty place, though it was starting to liven up even after my short wait. They had an intriguing menu. I got some chickpeas and fried bread, dumplings, and a dal makhani. The flavors were abundant, but I also found the salt and oil a bit too abundant, even by restaurant standards. My bread, while delicious, wasn't quite enough for the chickpeas, which had a dynamic fruity and spicy gravy. I struggled a little bit more with the salt of my jhol momo, and the dal was a bit too indulgent to eat at once. I don't want to say it was bad food, because it wasn't, but I felt a little unwell after eating it, even having spread this out for several days of meals during my travels. There's a lot of Indian restaurants in the outskirts of Richmond and I've had better experiences. read more

First time visiting here and we were very happy we came! To begin with, the interior is nicely upscale, clean and inviting. The menu was a delight, as it contains Himalayan dishes and other options not normally served in standard Indian restaurants. I had the Chilly Momo and was surprised when the spice level was appropriate for the level described (in my case over the top). I loved it, but my wife said her mouth was on fire from just a taste. She had the shrimp Pista Korma. Milder spice level, but a delicious sauce that I would order again. The rice was perfectly cooked, light and fluffy (as opposed to clumps sticking together). Complimentary pappadums were a nice addition, and mango juice assuaged my wife's still spiced palate. Definitely worth a try - we'll be back! read more

Absolutely love this place! From the moment you walk in (which can seem intimidating from the darkened windows), you're greeted very nicely & quickly. I've tried the Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, & Chicken Tandoori. All perfectly seasoned and creamy. Additionally, the naan is SO yummy. Really enjoy the garlic and now the cheese one! Lastly, I tried the Desi Pazookie this time for dessert (since usually I'm leaving with leftovers) & it was delicious! The service was spectacular providing pappadum chips as a treat for us to nibble on, but pappadums are my favorite so I devoured it. Hubby enjoyed spicy momos allowing me to take a taste. The waitress was clearly not equipped to handle a large group, she was unable to take orders, imposed strict ordering guidelines, and was slow to bring out food. Additionally we were charged extra for use of the party room- though when we reserved it there was no charge mentioned. They also charged extra for large group (calling it tip) but then requested extra tip from the group- citing the extra tip goes to the management, not the wait staff. read more

Ok I rarely give a 5 star to any restaurant but this one sure deserved it! We had the vegetarian chow mein, vegetarian jhol momo, and vegetarian kothey momo with mango lassi and salty lassi. Tried this place for the first time on a Friday night and was not disappointed. There is some parking around the building, so I doubt there would be an issue finding a spot ever. On first impression, the decor and vibe is really nice, makes it feel intimate and upscale. Seating is also very comfy. The food: I ordered vegetable "koram" from the menu which should actually read korma, and I got it medium spicy. Vegetarian dishes come with rice included, though not noted on the menu. I also shared garlic naan with my husband, at first I thought it might be too garlicky, but with food it was perfect. I even had a full meal worth of leftovers. Only opened 10 days so we had to check it out. They did not disappoint! Excellent service, food and atmosphere. When we arrived we were greeted immediately and told to sit wherever we like. We sat at a table for 2 but the waiter moved us to a bigger table once he saw that we ordered a lot of foods. They provided bowls of complimentary mulligatawny soup which was the best I've ever tasted. The paneer dish and the tandoori chicken were both perfect. They asked what spice level from 1-5 would be like. We requested that the paneer be a one and the chicken to be a 3. They were perfectly spiced based on our requests. We were pampered with attention and was offered free desserts. A sweet dish I've never tasted before called Gajar ka Halwa served warm. A tasty sweet carrot pudding with crushed pistachios. The restaurant is newly opened and renovated so it's very fresh and clean. There's a good amount of parking in the strip mall. A wonderful experience and we will be back. read more

The food was fresh and flavorful. Portions were enough; we had to take most of the food home! Just as important, this place is cleeeaaannn, including the bowls and utensils (and restroom). An unassuming restaurant in a shopping strip, White Tiger has set a high bar of excellence with their delicious cuisine! Our party did not really know what to expect and were wowed by the quality of flavors, and friendly service. Everything tasted so fresh and was perfectly executed. The pani puri were served in a playful way with shots of the pani. The puri were light and perfectly crispy with a tangy punch of flavor. The steamed momos were just beautiful with a delicate wrapper and tasty chicken or veg filling. The lamb chops could be better.. the flavor was good but the meat was overdone while the spice rub was undercooked. The star of the evening was the chicken.. biriyani.... by far the best biriyani I have had at any restaurant in Richmond... absolute perfection!! I love trying different Indian restaurants throughout the city. This is very good! You want your Indian food spicy. The "medium" spice here is the perfect amount of taste and seasoning without your mouth being uncomfortably on fire. The vegetable pakoras had just enough filling inside and crispiness outside. let me start by saying that we thoroughly enjoyed the food at White tiger. I have been here several times and when it was time to make a decision regarding our gathering I was the one who recommended this restaurant. We were a large group (almost 20 people) and while making the reservations requested if we could have our table set in the back room so as not to disturb other guests. My comlpaint with them was due to the fact that they never informed us at the time of making the reservation that there would be a per hour charge of $50 for that space. Even when we arrived the manager neglected to mention this fact to us otherwise we would have requested to be seated in the regular dining space. It was only after we were more than 2/3 of the way through our dinner that our server mentioned this detail to us. I don't see why we should have had to pay this hourly charge when this information was never given to us (which the manager also acknowledged). I think the restaurant should do better in giving this kind of information to customers specially if they want repeat business. read more

The restaurant was clean and romantic. The food was delicious and served in large portions. We had leftovers of everything to take home and only ate about half of what was served. My boyfriend had two beers recommended by our excellent bartender Joban. He was so accommodating. I ordered a margarita which was too sour for my taste and he sweetened it up for me at no extra charge. Our server was Suraj who was very soft spoken but never let our glasses go dry and had great timing. So let me start by saying this restaurant gives you the entire Indian experience. It's authentic all the way down extreme heat...due to the broken AC. Went with a group for a birthday and it was hot hot hot. 95 degrees outside on June 22. And probably the same inside. I'm not sure if the ac was broken, or just off as the staff didn't seem bothered by it. On to the staff, the wait staff was very attentive and nice. And the decor was quite nice, a great date spot. For the food. The food was amazing. I am not the biggest Indian food fan, honestly it was my 3rd time trying it.... But the food was out of this world. The lamb biryani the portion was great. Then I talked to the server that I met before he mentioned there was only 1 plate left and we were like Okay fine, we got that one plate and when we got the momos it was the worst momo we have ever had.
