Frank is awesome! The most enthusiastic, supportive, unobtrusive, helpful and lovely photographers, who also happen to take the best photos! Not only the Shmily team a pleasure to have around with us in San Diego shoot during COVID, but the photos they took are incredible and captured our engagement photos perfectly. One of the best, if not the best wedding photography services in the Los Angeles area. There are so many different companies out there that it was difficult to choose the right one, but we are more than happy we chose "Shmily Wedding Photography". They delivered the pictures and 15s video in a timely manner and were open to our editing suggestions. Both the pictures and the video turned out far better than I could have ever imagined and we have received non-stop compliments on both. I am so happy we have great memories captured forever and so beautifully by this amazing team! Highly recommend!
Shmily studio is a great choice for taking engagement/wedding photos! We used their pre-wedding photo shoot service. Their website is quite helpful for us to get familiar with the available locations and scenes. They provide services across a large area of California and more states. The main photographer Frank is professional, energetic and very open to communication. We discussed a lot about my preference of photo styles before the shooting. The actual shooting process is quite tired (as expected (_)), both for us and the photographer. From my wife: Annie as the host helped a lot during the trying out session of the wedding dresses. Bing Bing as the make up artist did a fantastic job to accommodate my wife's imagination~ ()
Highly recommended to any couples who like pre-wedding photos in a modest and ingenuous style. Frank and his team are professional and detail-oriented. From the pre-shooting day preparation to the shooting day implementation, Frank not only explained to us all the steps and details during the in-person consultation session, he also sent us a detailed Purchase Need-To-Know instruction document after the consultation to help us decide whether we want to move forward with Shmily Studio. During each step, Frank is easily approachable for any questions, and he explains to us with lots of patience in nice manners. Shmily studio has a wide selection of wedding packages and wedding gowns, and we gladly settled with 2 beautiful gowns that fit into the package and match our style. On the shooting day, Frank and his team communicated extensively and patiently with us to help us have the best pose, and tried from different angles to make sure the perfect moment captured. We shot at 2 locations, UCLA and Sunset Beach, in a sunny hot day, and I have to admit it was a bit challenging to walk and pose and smile for straight 4-5 hours, but Shmiley Studio offered free van service which helped us a lot and made the process less stressful, so we could relax in between the two locations and not to worry about the LA traffic. Thank you Shmiley Studio for making our shooting experience an unforgettable memory!
Very glad that we've chosen SHMILY for our engagement photos! They are very professional and patient. I strongly recommend them for your most important moment! We only had 4 months to the wedding day when we decided to get married. SHMILY team was very nice and helpful to rush our engagement pictures in time. Only 1.5 months after the photography day, we already receive our retouched pictures! The photos come out very beautiful, and all my families and friends like themt! SHMILY studio has different photoshoot packages, and their costs are very reasonable compared to others. As a studio, they provide full services for all you need for photoshooting. The package cost also covers wedding dresses rental and makeup service. They also help to purchase photoshoot permit if needed. So all I needed to do is to pick the dress and they managed the rest. Another thing I like about them is that they have about hundred wedding dresses in studio, with different styles and cover most common sizes. They update their inventory every year with new trend. You will find the one you want for sure. Frank is my photographer. He is talented and experienced. He knows what is good for me at the first sight. The wedding dress I used for photoshoot was actually suggested by Frank, and it comes out very gorgeous on me and in pictures! During the whole shooting process, Frank is very patient. [ U.S. Passport Photo ] It only takes about 10-15 minutes to get US passport photos, plus they are able to retouch it, so that it turns out so nice compare to passport photos taken at CVS or Costco. They will also send you a digital copy to your e-mail in addition to the printed ones. The team is aware of all the standards and requirements for various countries and they do also take China Passport Photos, Taiwan Passport Photos, Europe Passport Photos, etc. [ New Studio near John Wayne ] I am so glad to find out that they've finally moved back to Irvine and now has a new photography studio near John Wayne Airport! The new studio itself is beautiful and well-decorated. It is a open space where you can see their iMacs and staffs working on pictures and all the wedding dresses, plus their iconic orange Volkswagen bus at the corner. Guests are able to sit at the sofa and enjoy the space while waiting for passport photos to be retouched and printed. Plus, the parking is super easy since it is at the Sky Park business complex. [ Service and Price ] The team is very professional and friendly and upfront about the cost before taking your pictures. The price does match with the quality they deliver. But I would recommend calling ahead before heading over in case if they are away for outdoor photo sessions.
I've search many companies for pre-wedding photos. Although I live in north cal, I still chose shmily because I like their style. They traveled all the way to Carmel to take our photos. Due to COVID-19, we have rescheduled several times. They are nice, easy to reach and willing to communicate. Frank, the photographer, researched about the weather and photo spots weeks ahead of the photo shooting day. I worried that my fiancé will be nervous. In fact, we had a great time because Frank tends to capture the true moments between us instead of some magazine model poses.
We hired them for engagement photos and wedding day photography/videos exactly a year ago and on the anniversary of our marriage, I would like to write a review to thank them for all of their hard work. I really love their work and the video looks amazing. Engagement photos: We met up with Jesse, the photographer, and an assistant at Huntington Central Park for our engagement photos. We had a lot of great photos to use as décors on our wedding day. They were very beautiful and romantic. Wedding day: They came with a big crew on the wedding day and were very professional from beginning to end. They stay with us from morning until the end of the reception, which is great because other photography vendors would only stay for a certain number of hours. Wedding video: I love how the wedding music video turns out. The videographer did a really good job showing a little of everything that was going on that day. We even have all the raw video footages that were not use in the final music video that we can probably use ourselves to make a bigger wedding day video for our family. Wedding photos: We ended up with at least 500 GB worth of photos and videos from the wedding. We have so much photos that it took awhile for us to finally got through everything and pick out pics that we would like to get edited. First dance: I especially want to thank one of the gentleman on the team who without him, we wouldn't have the perfect first dance! We didn't even practice the dance until the night before the wedding and he can tell we had little to no practice when we did a quick run through before the reception. One of the guy on the team help us perfect our moves and when it came time to do our first dance, everything works out! Our guests totally thought we practiced for months! These guys are so good at what they do! My husband and I hired them to do our wedding in September and at first I was dumbfounded by how expensive by photography prices but if you go with the right people who have experience, it's nothing! These guys not only helped me so much through the day by keeping track of our timeline for a traditional Vietnamese wedding but they helped pose us in a way that optimized their editing. The end results had me in tears because it was so beautiful! Photos/Videos 5/5: Their style is very romantic if you are hiring them for weddings. They are able to bring out a romantic style in whatever pictures they take of you and your family even if the scene is not romantic looking at the time. The editing is slightly on the Asian/classic side so if you're going for Hollywood/trendy/Gotti, they might not be the one for you but if you're doing romantic hipster to romantic classy, I'd go with them. Crew 5/5: I would give them 10 out of 5 if I could. Their English is not the best and communicating with them via email is slightly tough but on site, they are soooo sweet, accommodating, and super experienced! No mess ups what-so-ever! Trust their process! They will get it right! I cannot stress how experienced they are! I even got a passport photo by them done for my name change and even that turned out good lol. Pricing 5/5: End result, I did shop around for photographers and they are on the lower side of a high end package. I picked them through a recommendation of a friend that has worked with them for photography so I knew from her work and with her recommending them, they would be good. If you're looking for cheap, they're not your guys but if you're looking for high end, they're a bargain for what you'd want. I had the most amazing experience with shmily photo! Every communication with them was punctual, helpful, customer service friendly. Our photographer was Frank communicated with us prior to the shooting. He is professionally and with a wonderful attitude toward us. He is handsome and funny, makes you feel like a friend rather than client. We had a very good experience and enjoyed the shoot. Frank and his colleague were really nice and sweet, they were patient with us to take lots of photos on every scene just in case he missed some of the good moment. We just received our wedding photographs and were shocked at how many wonderful moments he captured for us. And the photos...WOW! I was blown away by the results. Each and every photo is a beautiful work of art. I am beyond happy with the results and look forward to being a regular client. We were really lucky to know the Shmily Photograph studio and took our wonderful pre-wedding pictures there. Due to the Covid-19, we canceled our wedding ceremony&reception plan and our honeymoon to Europe. However, we decided to leave some beautiful memories for this special year. some friends recommend Shmily to me. after comparing it with some other studio we found online, We love their photograph style best, which full of love and warmth. Furthermore, their group members are great! Great Make-up artist, great customer service, great assistant/driver, great post-production, and great Frank(photographer)! They are kind and patient, seem like friends and we talked a lot during the whole day. From dress fitting to taking photographs, every single detail they worked well. Best memories in my life!
Choosing SHMILY is the best decision we ever made. 2020 is definitely a challenging year, but in such a hard time, I and my husband are greatly impressed by how SHMILY team shows the warm consideration for us. They really try their best to offer the best service. I am a very shy person in life, while my husband never know how to smile in a nature way. But the photographer Frank is very patient with us. He also gives us very professional and specific guide on posing, so we don't get confused at all. I have very short hair, but the make-over is such a magic. I looks so elegant. SHMILY just know everything a bride ever imagine and want.

We found SHMILY on yelp, and planned to take pre wedding photos in June 2020. We contacted them over email but they preferred wechat. Due to COVID we did have to reschedule for an unexpected time, and the company was very flexible. We had our photos taken in July with Frank, Annie, and Ethan. They were very professional, and kind. Frank (the photographer) really has an eye for the way the natural light works in every setting. You can really tell he loves his job. Annie was the make up artist, and help me select a dress. She was so sweet! Ethan was the photographer assistant and he was joyful to work with. There is a slight language barrier, they spoke Chinese but everything was communicated well. All the photos turned out amazing. And we had such a good experience! We recommend it to anyone in the area to take their prewedding photos with them! read more

My husband and I found Shmily after months of debating whether to go back to Taipei for our engagement photo shoots (with more considerations now with Covid situation), and we just finished the photo shoots yesterday!! It was well planned by Frank(photographer) and his wife Annie(make up artist), to capture the most beautiful moments we had in the bay area! Frank did lots of research and prep for the shoots, from iconic SF downtown to the scenic Muir Woods. he captured every moment so well! I was able to see some of our pictures and they were all breath taking! Annie is hands down one of the most amazing make up artists! she played such an important part of the whole experience as she listened attentively to what I'd like to look like (I showed her some pictures of the vintage look, and she used her "magic" and everything turned out gorgeous and beautiful!),and doing anything she can to make sure things move smoothly! Thank you Shmily Photo, especially Frank and Annie, who have made yesterday one of the best memories I will always look back and savor! Frank is a photographer who magically turned a simple CITY HALL marriage ceremony into a beautiful memory with high-end quality wedding photos. My husband and I have been dated for 5 years and we decided to move forward to get married this year. However, due to the current pandemic we cannot hold a big wedding reception. The only thing we could do was to get a simple city hall marriage ceremony. I looked for many SoCal photographers online and finally picked Frank form Shmily Wedding Photography to capture our big moment, the reason to choose him is because of the natural beauty and happiness that I can smell from his work. And my decision turns out to be one of the best ones I have ever made. For the photo shoot: I give Frank 120 out of 100. Our outdoor city hall ceremony ( held in Downtown San Diego) was actually quite short and simple with vows and rings exchange possibly in just 5 minutes, literally just two people stand in front of a black booth and no romance scenes there. But Frank was able to find the hidden beauty out of the most mundane scene, our parents and friends were in China and didn't get a chance to witness our wedding, after they saw his pictures they were impressed by the whole event. After the short ceremony, the most surprised part started to come out. Frank gave us a high-end, pre-wedding shoot with various iconic buildings and scenes around the city hall, so we could have the trendy themes such as architecture, park view, urban and seaside. During the shooting, he really has an eye for detail and understands the power of photo storytelling. He made sure we had the best angles and the most gorgeous smiles, and captured every little cute moment between us, we really love his play of light and color, and our personality naturally come out in his shots. Furthermore, he is not only professional but also patient enough to help us adjusting our postures and expressions. Other than the image shooting, he also shot a 15s slow-motion video to make our big day even more memorable and romantic, everyone gave us tons of compliments and told us they were so touched by watching this video. It only took them two days before I received their retouched photos, and they made it! The retouched photos are beautifully refined to make us look more attractive by subtlety modifying some blemishes on our face, and most importantly, we still looked the same, but a better, perfect version of ourselves. It has been almost 2 years since my first review. Starting from that ID photo, guess what happened? Frank, Jessie and Ray became photographers for my engagment, my parents' 30-year wedding anniversary, and my Hawaii destination wedding. Not only they know how to capture the couples from the most natural angles, but also they have incredible photo touch-up skills. Our experience here is beyond our expectation. They provide many styles of wedding dresses. You can always choose the one you really like. We bought a pre-wedding package which provides three different scenes for photography. We choose old town, temple, and La Jolla in San Diego, and we selected three wedding dresses for each of the three scenes. Makeup and transportation are covered in the package. Frank, Ray, and Dingding accompanied us all the way during shooting. Frank taught us how to make good poses and took really nice pictures. Ray and Dinging helped us a lot during the shooting. I really want to thank them for witnessing and recording my propose to my fiancée. It is really an extraordinary experience. read more

Last week, I took prewedding photos in shmily photo with my wife. The price here is good, and they have many kinds of combos for photos. What we chose was the unlimited scenes for 2 days, and we took the photos one day in San Diego and another day in Los Angeles. The scenes we chose in San Diego focused on some large-scale scenes, such as Balboa Park, and La Jolla beach, and what we chose in Los Angeles were Santa Monica, the last bookstore, and Beverly Hills. The experience for this prewedding photography was great, and I recommend shmily photo to many of my friends, and my wife said that she will be happy to take photos here again when she's pregnant. read more

Shmily Photography is located inside of Ranch 99 Supermarket. They offer both indoor shoots and outdoor shoot. I came here to get my passport picture taken. The rate they charged is $10 for 2 physical prints. They also offered free retouch of the picture as well. I went to get my picture taken and waited about 10 minutes for the two pictures to get ready. I was happy with the picture. However, one of the printed pictures had a mark on my face caused by a pen done by one of the employees. I decided to return to the store and tell them about the situation and ask if I can replace one. The worker was friendly and ok with it. I got 2 more prints without any charges. I was satisfied with my experience here at Shmily Photography. I will return in the future if I need more passport picture or any outdoor shots. read more

I certainly LOVE Frank and his team. They are so nice and professional. I took the pre-wedding photos here in SHMILY Photo. SHMILY means that "see how much I love you", and I love their idea for that, and feel really happy to let them take pre-wedding photos for us and to record our story. Even though, I will not have my wedding here in US, I know they can also take photos for your wedding here in US. Also, if you are pregnant and would like to take photos here to record your life, choose SHMILY! If you have any questions and may even want a quick consult, they will help you and provide some suggestions, or you can also google them, and you will get to know their story and see their photo works, and I am sure you will love them! read more
