San Francisco's hills + 4 inch heels = a recipe for disaster. After just a few months of wear, my favorite pair of heels needed their bottoms replaced... after reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to take them here. He told me they would be done in 10-15 minutes, so I grabbed a latte at Starbucks, indulged in a few minutes of people watching in Union Square, then went back to pick up my shoes. I knew from looking on Yelp that his prices were cheap, but I was still surprised to hear that my grand total was only $6.00... Awesome. I wear boots a lot due to the weather and terrain in this city, particularly flat boots. Due to this they get a lot of wear and tear. Int he past year or so I think I've snapped the zip on my left and right boot a total of 3 times each, just by walking. I used to go to another place for repair and it would cost me USD30 (ouch) for the repair and it would take a few days. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place on yelp. It was much closer to where I live too so that was a plus factor. What really surprised me was I went in at 5.30 p.m. expecting to have the shoe fixed in a few days and he told me to come back in an hour (the shop closes at 6 p.m.). I thought he was joking but he said he could get it done in that time and he didn't mind keeping the store open a little longer. He did that and duplicated my keys and my friend's keys in that span of time. The shoe zip repair was done for USD14, a little under a half of what most places in Downtown would do it. Quick, efficient, nice man and great prices! The place is nothing to shout about as its a small quaint store next to the Stockton tunnel. If you weren't looking out for it you'd probably miss it. I'm thoroughly pleased though! I'll be coming back more often! read more

Like all the yelpers have said, this place is fast, cheap, and friendly. The place is tiny and it's right next to the tunnel on Stockton street. I brought in my favorite boots to have the heels replaced. He asked if I wanted to wait and I said okay. Five minutes later I leave a happy camper with new heels for $6 only. He also covered the scratches on the heel with some black color so it's not noticeable that I got my stiletto heel stuck in one of those metal sewage grates. I have to admit the work was not as clean as other places I've been to like Galetti, but definitely a lot cheaper and for something as simple as heels, it works for me! Will be back again! read more

Joe is fantastic! I ordered new shoes online and didn't receive them until the day before a big event. I was worried he'd be busy and not be able to get rubber half-soles onto my heels between Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening, and I was nervous about asking for a quick turnaround less the quality be sub-par [I had just invested $275 in LK Bennett heels I wanted to keep around for a few years!]. But when I dropped them off, sure enough -- You want to pick them up in 1 hour?! 1 hour! He's fast, efficient, and does solid work. Plus it was only $20 - far less than I was quoted at other stores in the financial district that also wanted a week to complete the work. If you're really fussy about your shoes though, you may want to be clear about what you want. My half soles are solidly adhered and absolutely fill their purpose, but there were some stray glue streaks on the leather portion of the underside of my shoe that didn't get the half-sole. Doesn't really bug me as it's not noticeable unless you're examining the bottom of the shoes, but if you're buying expensive pairs and care about this sort of thing, you should be clear about exactly what you want the end result to look like. read more

The sole of my boot was coming unglued so I took it here to get it re-glued. The guy was super adorable and nice, he fixed it in about an hour, and it only cost me about 5 bucks! I have only high heels in my closet, and since I wear them all the time, the average life of single pair is 3 month - max! So every 3 month I have to purchase new pair of everyday high heel working shoes. Not anymore! Joe fixed up 7 shoes with lost heel tips for 23.50! Usually I paid 10-20 per pair depended how bad it was. Now for the the most worn heel ever I paid 3.50! He did it all under one hour and did a great job! read more

Resoled boot heel for $22 cash. I walked around Union square and came back 40 minutes later to pick them up. Good and fast service.

The closest shoe repair place to the Financial District that is AFFORDABLE. Shoe Craft is a slight trek to near the Stockton Tunnel, by the Union Square side. I have not worn a lot of my shoes lately because I kept lagging on the heel repairs. I finally mustered up my type-A personality, which has looong disappeared, to get sh-et done this week. Dropped off at least 4 pairs of shoes, and the heels' rubber were replaced for around $25. Depending on the extent of the damage, the repair estimate ranged from $6-$7. Awesome value in my book! The shoe-guru would have had them ready as I waited, but I dropped it off 10 minute before closing. I picked them up the next day as he promised. Now if only the shoes were shined when I picked them up, then that would have pushed this to a 5-star review. read more

I was totally lead astray by the other reviews. I brought in my boyfriend's favorite pair of prada shoes to be cleaned up. Even though his shoe collection is larger than mine, he didn't want to part with these. I brought them to Shoe Craft and asked the shopkeeper if he could fix them up and he said "sure, no problem." When I came back for them I was shocked to find he had just glued leather onto the top of the shoe. The color didn't even match! The future wife had him put on thin rubber soles on the bottom of two pairs of heels, he completed it within two hours while we were putzing through union square. Brought in a pair of boots to have the bottom of the heel replaced. They were ready in 30 minutes. $15 - I was super satisfied until I brought them home and noticed some black smudges (maybe shoe adhesive?) on the top of the foot area and a pen mark on the shaft of my boot. I googled "remove pen ink from boots" and the problem was solved but I guess you get what you pay for. Never figured out how to remove the other gunk. I'd still go back but maybe not for work on super expensive shoes (luckily I don't own any). He repairs bags too but I wouldn't think of bringing an expensive bag here. read more

This is another Yelper find! I have not had good luck looking for shoe repair locations. This place is very fast and reasonable. The location is a bit hard to find since it is a whole in the wall. i think there are 2 other businesses sharing this address. I believe I last saw a massage room upstairs. Yikes! Anyways - the man behind the counter is very nice. I usually need my shoes in a few hours and he always says "Ok!". Once I saw him teaching his son or nephew about shoes...very sweet. I decided to bring some of my shoes here to be resoled after seeing all the good reviews. For the most part, i was really happy with the quality of the work for the price though the sole on one pair was a little loose. From other yelpers, it seems like this is a pretty good deal, $19 for half soles, $35 for a full resoling. My mom also brought some shoes in for resoling and to get some tips replaced. She wasn't as pleased with the quality of the replacement of the tips, but i thought it was fine. Overall, i think the quality of the work is good for the price and I got what i wanted. After having gone to 2 different shoe repairs and getting disappointed by their super expensive prices and booked hrs till after NY, i thought i'd give it a try looking for a shoe repair on yelp. I found Shoe Craft and it was life a true saver. Joe (the man in charge) is a true gentleman. Great price, great quality and fast service. At the previous shoe repairs I was told that the broken heel of my boot will cost me 70 dollars to repair and there's no guarantee for it to remain firm and not break again. I took it to 2 different places mid Dec and they said it would be ready after the first week of Jan. Here I paid only $12 for the heel, it is super firm and strong and it was ready only in an hour! Guy that works here is nice. For those who don't know this place is right next to the china town tunnel. Came here about 3 years ago to get some keys for the office copied. Cost was a bit higher than china town about 2 1/2 times more. It was closer so I thought I'd save the trip to broad way. Looks like something out of my dream. I've been taking my shoes and boots to carlos over the last few months and I have had really good experiences and have received work at reasonable prices. It's so hard to find a good shoe or boot repair person, and like a good hairstylist, when you find one, you stick with them. I brought a pair of my Frye boots in for resoling, and they did a great job and the boot looked better all around in general after. I've also had a few heals redone and they came out fine to and quickly. I am looking forward to an ongoing relationship here! read more

I don't write many Yelp reviews but had to post this. Brought some shoes in to have the sole repaired. At $38, I didn't expect too much, but when I brought my ticket back the proprietor didn't have my shoes. He looked through a bunch of unorganized plastic and paper bags in the back of the shop, many of which didn't even have corresponding claim tickets attached, and it became obvious that he had either lost my shoes or had accidentally given them to someone else. Since the shoes were old I just asked for my $38 back -- not even the value of the shoes -- but he said no and then inexplicably said he'd found out that I picked them up already and was trying to steal from him (even though I had my claim ticket) and threatened to call the police (?). I said I'd be fine with that but of course he didn't. Again, didn't expect much but expected more than this. Don't bring your shoes here if you care about them. read more

I had to get some worn out heels on some dress shoes fixed and I needed it done quickly as I wanted to have to avoid making a return trip to pick up the shoes. I found the spot on Yelp for places near the office. Price was unbeatable - $18 to replace both heels vs. $30-40 I was hearing from other place. Plus, when I brought them in, the shop owner initially said it would take 1 hour but when I told him I was in a rush, he said he would put the my repair at the front of the queue and get it done in 30 minutes. Nice owner but he uses poor quality materials. The price is a little lower but not too much more than other shoe repair places in the Fidi (i.e. $11 for a new heel bottom as opposed to $12.50 at other Fidi places) and the turnaround time was the same (1 day). The thing that makes me upset is that he charges about the same but uses poor-er quality (i.e. plastic heel bottoms as opposed to rubber so they will wear down really quickly), and the plastic wasn't even the right color. The guy that repairs shoes here is AWESOME. Heel repairs are only $6 ($3/per shoe) where most other places are about $10-$20, AND he can get it done within an hour! If you're like me and wear heels everyday and are constantly wearing them out, go to this place! He also fixed a leather strap on one of my pumps for something like $3, where another place charged me $12! Geez, what a deal. Oh and not to mention he's really freakin nice. This place is very easy to miss (I don't think there's a "Shoe Craft" sign outside), but it's right by the Stockton Tunnel (across from the big Sutter/Stockton Garage), before entering into Chinatown. It's tiny and super hole-in-the-wall, next to a sketchy looking massage place (The first time I was paranoid people thought I was going in there..hah). This place is totally worth it! read more

After being deeply scarred by my previous shoe repair, I searched long and hard on Yelp for a new one that wouldn't disappoint. When I dropped of my shoes at Shoe Craft, despite how friendly and wholesome the nice man behind the counter looked, I couldn't help but feel like a mom dropping off her children on the first day of preschool. But, three fixed stilettos and two half soles later (while in real time only took a few hours!), I was happy. Don't let the tiny hole-in-the-wall appearance fool you, this is a top-notch shop that had the exact Louboutin red for my half sole. He also pushed down the messed up leather part on the stiletto heel that gets crapped up when you fall into those unsightly SF cracks. Pros: quality work, inexpensive, great location (spend waiting time shopping in union square!), fast, great service (friendly!), does good job on half soles Cons: cash only, don't pick up their phone, he writes the price on the bottom of your heel (on the sole, in ballpoint pen, also seems to just make up prices on the spot), minor scratches where new half sole rubber met original sole (but in his defense it was a pair of shoes where the sole was sort of a lacquer finish so really highlighted any scratch or nick) read more

Ugh. I feel bad about this because they were nice enough, but I have no choice but to give this place a bad review. I brought in some very nice suede shoes for a cleaning... the nicest pair of shoes I ever owned... and he ruined them. They came out a whole different, much lighter shade of brown. The suede was rougher, too. Worse, he took it upon himself to use shoe polish on the natural soles. When he showed me, he acted like he did a good thing. My heart sank. My shoes tell the stories of the debauchery they have encountered...and they've encountered plenty. I know what I like and I don't care how much or how little my shoes costs. My favorite pair of grey, flat, over the knee boots....I KNOW, fierce right? have basically given up on me in the soles. I love to wear them, but they have reached the verge of trashiness kinda like the girls at THE CELLAR. But thanks to YELP, I came to a hole in the wall place right before the tunnel on stockton and sutter...and it was like a time warp...A.) The guy was helpful and he knew shoes...B.) He was listening to Chinese folk music unlike any I've ever heard. C) He charge almost nothing (42 dollars) for 3 pairs of run down boots! I mean we are tralking complete overhaul of shoes and patching up heel holes! He is honest and will tell you what to expect and what not to expect dependent on the shoes you bring in...I mean, I wasn't expecting like new obviously...what I got is compeletely wearable. You'd think forking over $500 on a pair of pumps would mean that these shoes must be indestructible! WRONG! I tell ya, Christian Louboutins may be pure sex but they are fragile as my emotions when I am surfing the crimson tide. After ONE night of hardcore partying, the shoes looked just as bad as me the following morning: TORE UP. Now, I have heard of Anthony's shoe repair but quoted $65 for heel and sole repair? Cut me some slack I'm unemployed! I yelped around to see if there are anywhere else that carries the red rubber soles for my Louboutins and came across this place. As I walk in to the small shop I was entranced by the magical chinese music, it wasn't some regular ol' chinese music, it was some crazy shit that took me on an euphoric trip. I still can't get it out of my head. The man who repaired my shoes was so helpful and nice! So, for the red rubber soles and heel replacements - $25 replace heel and toe tips for my other pumps - $ 8 deep cleaning my UGGlies - $10 (they came back one shade lighter) All for $43!!! minus one star because my pumps came back a bit dirtier...well his fingers did look like they were dipped in charcoal, but what if my pumps were white or nude? they'd be returned to me with black polkadots? And I also asked him to glue back the shoe label/insole that was starting to come off. Well I guess he did but it is WAY OFF. Overall for the price the service is GREAT.
