She walked my friends and me through several sections of the store to ensure that we found exactly what we were looking for. Ms Corita was personable and funny. But Mr Richard at the Customer Service Desk was beyond rule and unprofessional. We were shocked and a little bit of shopping excited dimmed after our encounter with him. He should not represent Macy's while interacting with customers. We were not deterred. Unfortunately we spent tons of time and money on three floors. We'll be back and we'll search for Ms Corita because she was outstanding! #HappyShopping

22 March 2026 New York, NY…read moreSunny 50°F As a thoroughbred New Yorker, Macy's Herald Square is the only barely existing quintessential Iconic New York "department store" It is literally the "World's Largest Store" - as is emblazoned on the marquée above their Broadway & 34th Street corner entrance. Many department stores have sadly faded away over the years. Think, B. Altman & Co, Barneys, Henri Bendels, Lord & Taylor, Bonwit Teller, I miss them all like old friends who passed. However, we still have Macy's! - with its annual Thanksgiving Day Parade aired on NBC, plus don't forget Macy's lush Fresh Flower Show display in April/May, and the ultimate 4th of July Fireworks on the Hudson River or East River by the Grucci family over 100 years, now by Jesse Collins Entertainment of the Superbowl halftime shows. There will always be Macy's. Make Macy's your destination even if it's just for the nostalgia. They still have those chunky wooden escalators on the upper floors built in the 1920s by Otis Elevator Company. An Iconic Five stars **Thanks to fellow Yelper, Fawn for the trip down memory lane!**

I'm glad this one is still around since it's the most convenient location and most central at Rockefeller Center, compared to the other 4 stores (UES, Chelsea market, SoHo and W.Village). Their product styling is generally considered more boho chic apparel, accessories and home goods + furniture, I'd call it maybe more romantic and whimsical, less preppy and buttoned up. They're owned by Urban Outfitters which also owns Free People so the adjacencies between the aesthetics, products and target consumers make sense. They're geared toward the mid 20s to mid-40s age range, and prices tend to be on the mid to higher side for this type of product. Not to level of high-end designer but generally more than your mid-range mall retailers. In the countless number of times I've visited, staff here usually are cordial. There's a main level which has the main entrance from street-side, new seasonal collections, accessories and the checkout/register area towards the back of the store. Then there's a basement level which is accessible from with Rockefeller Center. The fitting rooms and home goods section are downstairs.

I typically go when Im in Honolulu as we don't have UNIQLO where we live so I always make it a point to stop here when in NYC. Has three floors in total in which each floor caters to different categories like heattech + men's + women's + children apparel + graphic tees. There's even a Uniqlo coffee shop on the 2nd floor. A large fake Christmas tree is placed in the center when first walking inside through the entrance. Then, a huge red escalator of heading up and down to each floor is behind the tree. Additionally. everything's either being neatly organized or stacked on most of the shelves and inside drawers except for a couple of areas here and there. The price range is reasonable for most apparel items besides the thick puffer jackets + sweaters + graphic tees. Even though there seem to be signs for the fitting room and cashiers/self-checkout, it's still pretty confusing to walk around and find stuff imo because of how large the Uniqlo space is. I have to flag down and ask different staff about the whereabouts of cashiers as I'm paying with cash. There's a bit of a line for those paying by cash despite several 5-6 cashiers being present while no line at all for self-checkout (card only). No line for the fitting room though. Generally, staff is shown as helpful + amiable + patient in a professional manner towards customers. My favorite section is probably by the heattech area. There're 3 various heattech types of warmth for both adults and children. Of course you can wear whichever layer as you please at the end of the day. All the desired temperatures are simply suitable for preferred reference anyway. The Original (Mild Weather) - 5°C to 20°C or 41°F to 68°F Extra Warmth (Colder Days) - -5°C to 15°C or 23°F to 59°F Ultra Warm (Extreme Cold) - -20°C to 10°C or -4°F to 50°F I think The Original layer of heattech is already pretty warm for the 30s-40s temperature here in NYC. The fabric is the thinnest in material. Very comfy to wear without being too stuffy on the inside. I bought two long sleeved heattech pieces today ($19.90 each). They also come in different colors and styles that might be suited to the personal taste of each and every customer. I'm not sure if they have a restroom for the public, will have to search for it next time...

I was greeted by Marie, who showed me one of the coats that I loved on sight. I turned and was instantly riveted by a magnificent sapphire blue coat dress displayed on a mannequin. Full disclosure --- Dressing rooms trigger the worst of my claustrophobic reactions. As though she could read my mind, Marie whisked a medium sized dress (size selected by me) over my turtleneck and trousers. It was gorgeous, but the fit didn't meet my high expectations. Marie instantly recognized that I should be in a size small, and in a matter of seconds had me in the smaller size. Cinderella's reaction to her Fairy Godmother's fashion magic couldn't have been more joyous than mine when I saw myself in the full length mirror. As a woman in the 7th decade of life, I can state with hard-earned authority, this was easily the most transformative experience I've ever had in my long career as a fashionista. Fast forward, I wore the dress to an event of Friday. I've had custom made dresses that didn't fit every inch of my body like this one, or flatter my figure as perfectly. Equally amazing is that the dress is so comfortable, I didn't want to take it off when I got home. On a scale of one to ten, everything about the experience --- the service, the quality of the fabric and the magic of the perfect tailoring scores off the scale to an easy 20 points. Without exaggeration, at least a dozen ladies at the Westport, CT luncheon asked where I'd found this magnificent creation. Forgive me. I selfishly decided NOT to tell them. XXX P.S. I'll be back P.P.S. "Value" should also be checked in my rating. P.P.P.S. Photo to be posted promptly.

I've spent lots here and always have a pleasant time shopping but unfortunately that was not the case this week. The employee working the "stussy" section was a complete a-hole and even mocked and rolled his eyes at a group of Asian tourist. He yelled at me for picking up a folded hooked saying "why at you grabbing this, everything is on display on the rack to the left" I completely ignored him because his tone was awful. When someone else asked if they carried certain things he kept saying look around and wouldn't help anyone. Someone even tried to pay for a hat and he said "don't ask me. Walk around you'll find a register over there" He was on his phone the entire time texting / gossiping with a co-worker about drama happening downstairs in the kitchen. Staying "I'm not dealing with her shit today" the way he interacted with paying customers was shocking. I even have voice notes, took this action since he was so repulsive. It's a shame and extremely unprofessional. Won't be returning anytime soon. If going to work makes you that miserable then quit.
