If you come to this UNIQLO location and haven't visited others, you are getting straight up spoiled! I typically go when Im in Honolulu as we don't have UNIQLO where we live so I always make it a point to stop here when in NYC. The store is gorgeous and huge, three stories including a coffee shop on site! The last time I was here was in the dead of winter so I bought a few pieces from their thermal line which kept me warm all weekend long! Walk around the store, look for sales and special pieces. This 5th Ave location is known as the flagship store in NYC. Additionally, it's the largest Uniqlo store in the entire US and considered as one of the largest in the world. Has three floors in total in which each floor caters to different categories like heattech + men's + women's + children apparel + graphic tees. There's even a Uniqlo coffee shop on the 2nd floor. A large fake Christmas tree is placed in the center when first walking inside through the entrance. Then, a huge red escalator of heading up and down to each floor is behind the tree. Additionally. everything's either being neatly organized or stacked on most of the shelves and inside drawers except for a couple of areas here and there. The price range is reasonable for most apparel items besides the thick puffer jackets + sweaters + graphic tees. Even though there seem to be signs for the fitting room and cashiers/self-checkout, it's still pretty confusing to walk around and find stuff imo because of how large the Uniqlo space is. I have to flag down and ask different staff about the whereabouts of cashiers as I'm paying with cash. There's a bit of a line for those paying by cash despite several 5-6 cashiers being present while no line at all for self-checkout (card only). No line for the fitting room though. Generally, staff is shown as helpful + amiable + patient in a professional manner towards customers. My favorite section is probably by the heattech area. There're 3 various heattech types of warmth for both adults and children. Of course you can wear whichever layer as you please at the end of the day. All the desired temperatures are simply suitable for preferred reference anyway. The Original (Mild Weather) - 5°C to 20°C or 41°F to 68°F Extra Warmth (Colder Days) - -5°C to 15°C or 23°F to 59°F Ultra Warm (Extreme Cold) - -20°C to 10°C or -4°F to 50°F I think The Original layer of heattech is already pretty warm for the 30s-40s temperature here in NYC. The fabric is the thinnest in material. Very comfy to wear without being too stuffy on the inside. I bought two long sleeved heattech pieces today ($19.90 each). They also come in different colors and styles that might be suited to the personal taste of each and every customer. This Uniqlo is their flagship NYC location, there are several other stores in the five boroughs though those are smaller. This location on 5th Avenue and 53rd street is right in the middle of the Fifth Ave shopping district, and is popular with tourists and locals alike. Their main products are casual clothing, outerwear and accessories, and are well known for their denim, light weight puffer jackets, heat tech layering pieces and seasonal t-shirt collaborations. Walking in, the first floor is pretty small, mostly a smattering of key pieces and new styles for the season and the conduit space for customers to take either the 3 story elevator upstairs to larger floors, or stairs to the back 1.5 and 2nd floors that have respectively lifestyle products, current collaborations (currently featuring MoMA artist designs), the second floor also includes a customizing station where you they can print your designs onto the Uniqlo products of your choice. In the middle of the 2nd floor sits the cafe where you can pick up a variety of coffee and tea drinks (pretty average pricing for the area),and the back of the 2nd floor has their Uniqlo U and Lifewear collections. Upstairs on the 3rd floor are the balance of their inner and outerwear collections for kids, men's, and women's. Overall the product quality is good for the price, as a Japanese company their attention to detail on quality testing is quite high (speaking to those in the apparel business). Prices are in the affordable to mid-range, approximately $20-30 for short sleeve tops, $30-50 for other tops, $30-$60 for pants, $80-150 for outerwear. Fitting rooms available, fair amount of seating areas for those waiting for others or taking a break from shopping. This store is huge! It's multi-level separating women's and men's department. The layout of the store starts off with your basics, under garment and layering pieces as well as graphic tees and then leads into shorts and classic summer pieces...dresses and skirts near the fitting room. It mimics another major giant with similar structure but where the other hops on every trend, this brand tends to stick to very classic pieces that are unique to them. For example, they pride themselves on their fall/ winter pieces having built in heat technology. Think pieces that aren't bulky but will give you the protection from inclement weather and are great layering pieces. They have a wide selection, great prices and the goods are quality but lower your expectations around getting assistance on the floor. read more

This store is HUGE (3 floors) and is the perfect place to grab your winter essentials. My husband and I just moved to NYC from blazing-hot Houston, Texas so we need to buy an entire winter wardrobe...and this was our first stop. Not only do they have all of the basics you need (or didn't know that you need!), but most importantly everything is AFFORDABLE! Most of the items I bought were about $30 each, which was great! Especially because we know that these are good, quality pieces. Additionally, they have an entire line of pieces called "Heat Tech", which are designed to keep you extra warm during the freezing months. They have different levels of these, and have charts posted everywhere to help you understand which level of heat tech you might need depending on how cold it is outside. Super cool! And I can attest that these actually work! The only reason they're not getting a full 5-star rating is because the customer service wasn't that great. The guys in the dressing room were not attentive at ALL. They were more concerned with their conversation with each other than they were about helping the customers standing in front of them. Also, the cashier was very unfriendly towards me when I was having issues signing up for their app. Instead of offering help, she just stood there and sighed loudly, clearly annoyed that it was taking me longer than she would've like. I did not appreciate this behavior. If you're looking to stock up on necessary winter clothing essentials, definitely check out UNIQLO! This location of the UNIQLO store is MASSIVE. This store is three stories high. When I initially walked inside I was pleasantly surprised to see both sides of the entrance filled with fresh flowers, so you could make your perfect bouquet. In addition to selling men's, women's and children's merchandise, they also have an area where you can customize your own hoodie or tee shirt. This UNIQLO store was filled with shoppers, but it didn't feel so bad due to the large layout of the store. The prices are very fair. They had 100% cashmere sweaters for the regular price of $99.00. Have been shopping at Uniqlo for most of my clothing since their first store opened in Manhattan. Was even for the early morning start at former Herald Square location for Uniqlo's 1st "Arigato" sale, where Ultra Light Down Coats went for $10 dollars! That's not what this review is about. This Global Flagship Uniqlo on 5th Avenue offers their full selection, including nice priced markdown items, which is important considering how Uniqlo's everyday prices have gone up despite the strong dollar... which should enable more reasonable prices. That being said, this is not what my review is about. Having now several different Ultra Light Down jackets that I regularly wear, one of my favorite had a tear on the pocket's inside, which created an opening so large that anything in it fell out. I had heard that Uniqlo offered a repair service for the jackets for $5 - a great deal if it could happen to make that pocket again fully functional. My belief is good clothing shouldn't be thrown away if it can be fixed! When at this store, was pointed to the Service Center on the 2nd Floor (at the back and not the Embroidery center) to bring my coat. Apparently the infrequency for such repairs being done brought confusion as to whether they could do it, plus the process for submitting, paying and processing. (Payment, once confirmed that it could be done, takes place with the 3rd Floor cashiers.) Once the time the associate promised lapsed and had reached then 1 hour, I followed up since their "Wait" app still showed 100-120 minutes to go. The repair was done, yet caught somewhere between their tailor center and pickup point. The diligent Service Center team thankfully finally found it! All these minor hics aside, I was impressed! For $5, they made a not outwardly visible sturdy repair to fix the pocket well (especially on the same day while I wait) and enabling me to continue to enjoy the jacket with full functionality! From putting hems on pants to this, Uniqlo's in-house team make me more loyal than ever to keep coming back. Kudos, Uniqlo for this great service! read more

If this is how all of the Uniqlo stores will be merchandised, I will probably only shop online. I've been here a handful of times-- probably not really my ideal store but some of their fleece sweaters are cool. I purchased two and one for my daughter but I wanted to return one of them. Unfortunately, I was told since they have different inventory I would have to send it back via mail to receive my money back. Clearly they know majority of people are not going to want to waste time doing that and it's their way to prevent them from losing money, but it's a horrible customer service policy. The employee was able to get the manager to give me a gift card credit, which I then used to purchase something else online. I probably will not buy items here or be extremely cautious about what I do get from their stores going forward. read more

I was in the area and I wanted to stop by at Uniqlo There was a store in Times Square pre-pandemic but that outpost is no longer. I went into the store and was asked what I was looking for and told to get on the elevator and go to the third floor. Once I arrived, signage is so poor and I asked several people where I could find what I was looking for. Two employees I asked spoke neither English or Spanish. Finally I found what I was looking for but it is a very confusing place to shop. The real problem started when I had to pay for what I purchased. I got on a line which I thought was check out only to be told that this was the line for credit cards/debit cards only. Once again, no signage and the person who told me was rude on top of it. I finally found where I had to go [after much travelling] and got out of that store as soon as possible. There are also no directions as to how to leave the store-no exit this way signs. I did like Uniqlo in the past but with limited signage, a problem paying with cash and employee rudeness, I will think twice before going there again for any reason whatsoever. read more

They have it all; some UT: Graphic Tees are only sold here and the UNIQLO NY SoHo location. Plus, this store has the UTme! T-shirt & Tote Bag Custom Print Service where you can create your own graphic t-shirts and tote bags with custom stickers and your own photos or artwork and a sustainability section, where you can learn about their commitment to eco-friendly fashion. The kid was freezing his skinny legs off so we came here to get him a pair of Heattech leggings to wear under his jeans. Heattech is the best for layering!They're also lightweight enough to wear as regular tshirts in warmer climates (like Hawaii). [We woke up to below freezing temps [-2°C/28°F]!) The Women's XS seems to fit his long and skinny frame (approx. 5' 5", 95 lbs, 26" waist) best. Fortunately he doesn't care about gendered sizes because he's aware how difficult it is to find clothing that's small enough and long enough. We like Uniqlo for their minimalist and functional designs at reasonable prices! (I found ultra thin merino wool sweater that's machine washable for under $40. Like come on!!) Since packaged items cannot be tried on (but returnable/exchangeable within 30 days), we purchased a pair and headed down to the Men's fitting room for him to put them on right away. There was a bit of walking back and forth to find sizes and ask questions but thankfully it wasn't a far trek. All staff were helpful and courteous; the greeter was super chirpy and smiley! Tip: children's section may have sizes for kids up to 13 years old but not for those with long limbs or wider girths. It was cool to find a collab with Kinokuniya Books as well! With Japanese pop culture, media, etc, including Ghibli themed stationery! Almost bought a Totoro eraser set but stopped myself in time! read more

Had a great time visiting the flagship NY Uniqlo. While I prefer the DC locations (because they're not literally flooded with hundreds of kids crying and running around like this one) it was still a bucket list NY trip item. Got my hands on some NY exclusive T's. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in NY--but seriously it was crazy and there were so many kids running around I couldn't browse in peace. Cheaply-priced for cheap materials and goods. UNIQLO can get away with this because it's located on 5th Avenue, one of the shopping Meccas of the world. Plus as an international brand, they know they will draw in all the tourists visiting NYC. I'll admit, that's what got me inside the door. A pair of their Airism boxer briefs are practically unwearable since the elastic waist rolls down incessantly. While I was in California, I saw a dress at a Uniqlo store that I wanted that wasn't in stock in my size. I am writing review for supervisors being so harsh/mean to their associates and customers. I come to this store a lot. Most of the associates are nice and very helpful. But, supervisors ( I'm assuming it's their position) seemed to be so rude to customers and sales associates. I'm writing this review since it's not the first time seeing them so mean to sales associates and customers. How can they be in customer service?? No empathy, manners - no people skill whatsoever Out of a few incidences, one particularly stood out to me. This African American supervisor (juvaxxxx- not fully disclosing her name) was almost yelling at her employee when he was counting cash to give changes to customers. ( you can count fast!! ) I was so shocked to see that and felt sooo bad about him. There's a better way to train if that's what she was trying to do. Also, she was talking rude to me straight up my face. YOU DO NOT EMBARRASS YOUR EMPLOYEES in front of customers. Seriously, it's not the first time supervisor roles were being so nonchalant to their employees. I seriously haven't seen something like that in any of the stores I've visited. If that's Uniqlo's culture ( hopefully it's just them) and it's okay to treat associates like them, I would heartbeat not support this company at all. read more

This location is the largest Uniqlo location in NYC, due to it being the flagship store. It's 3 floors, and everything is orderly usually; unless you're tackling the final sale/clearance racks. The women's final sale area sometimes have one to two locations for placement. The kids and men final sales are combined in one area. All final sales racks are on the 3rd floor, along with the only bathrooms in this building. They usually offer paper bags, but now they sell canvas tote bags to embrace the upcoming March 2020, no plastic bag legislation. I came in today because their app alerted me to their free wireless bra promotion. I've redeemed free heattech and free underwear offers from their app promotions before. So I highly recommend signing up online and downloading their app. Its completely worth it. Myself and others close to me, all have tried and raved about their airism and heattech collections. They're great during the summer and winter months, or just transitioning layers through the various temperature changes. read more

Inexpensive basic clothing for kids, men and women. The second floor has a small cafe, cell phone chargers and photo booth. Their lightweight down is wonderful. I live in California and it rarely gets cold enough to wear the heavy weight down along the coast. The light weight down rolls up into a small pouch and is great for travel. If you are going someplace really cold, layer the extra warm heat tech under a sweater with the down coat and you are toasty warm. The arty t shirts are great souvenirs--Andy Warhol and Keith Haring prints are often available. read more

My wife loves this store but in my opinion 90% of the inventory that is on display is either sized Small or Medium. Today I searched for 40 minutes in different places of the store where the item was on hangers. Men who wear XL are screwed if they are looking for an item of a particular color. We are in this store often and when we arrive she goes off on her spree while I just find a seat and look at my phone. I don't get the fascination people have with Uniqlo. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad place. I don't know if it's Fifth Avenue worthy. They have some really awesome t-shirts: the Warhol and Haring tees, and some of the cool trendy ones that my husband loves. And some of their sweaters and winter coats are cool. I love their thermal stuff. Inexpensive, looks good and fits right. But, the store is kind of a hot mess. Most of the sales staff are just rude and completely uninterested in helping anyone. And, heaven's for bid you ask a question, they get their feathers all ruffled and start sending you to the next person they can see -- not because they don't know the answer or don't have the ability to stand up and go see if there's a shirt in the size you want --- because they don't want to be bothered. It's highly annoying. And, then when you get up to the third floor, it's a backlog of irritating shoppers on a long line that unnecessarily takes forever because half the staff doesn't want to be doing much. They're on par with an H&M, with just a lot more attitude and laziness. I only go their under dire duress, which usually means I need to pee, and their the closest spot before the E train.
