Based on that explanation and the price, I expected a professional, durable repair. When I picked the boots up, it became clear that the soles had been glued on. The shop owner later stated that this was explained upfront, though I don't personally recall it being emphasized in a way that made it clear this would be a glue-only repair with no stitching or reinforcement. Regardless, I was not expecting the quality of the work to be this poor. The glue job looked sloppy, and the soles started coming apart not long after I got them back. If I had understood that this repair would be glue-only and done at this level of quality, I would not have gone through with it and would have put the money toward a new pair of boots instead. I no longer live in Portland, so I wasn't able to return immediately. About six months later, when I was back in town, I brought the boots in again. To his credit, he agreed to redo the gluing . Unfortunately, even after the second attempt, the work still looks messy and you can still see the glue coming apart in some places. Although he was somewhat nice about it, for the price charged and the expectations set about longevity, this was a big disappointment. Fair warning to customers considering a sole replacement here: in my experience, the repair was glue-only, and the quality did not match the cost.

The female sales associate with long brown hair and blue eyes is very rude she will limit you on how many pairs of shoes you can try on. She has very short patience she will raise her voice at you and gets frustrated with customers quickly. She will crack jokes with you and laugh with you after you finally pick a pair to pretend like she has good customer service but she does not. They were out of stock in my size, but the manufacturer is in Lake Oswego and they were making their order the next day. They just added me to the order. Less than a week later and my boots are in! When I picked them up, he told me Chinook didn't want the old pair back, so he patched the hole and gave them back to me! Super friendly service that goes the extra mile because he can. This place is no-nonsense, you go in, tell them what is wrong with the shoe and they repair it. The place is exactly what you want a shoe repair shop to look like which is cluttered, full of shoes, and very clearly with workspace in the back. Its nice to know that places like this still exist with people who know they're trade. We are all so far removed from so much of the day to day goods we consume that its a good reminder that people are still relevant. The parking in downtown Beaverton can be a bit full sometimes but this place is easy to get to and find. They also have a rather open ended repair window estimate so I am glad that I wasn't in a rush or deadline.
