I referred to Shohreh Doustani (Acupuncture Center in Danville / San Ramon area) with two problems: a lingering pain in my wrist and a severe back pain that gave me so much pain that I could hardly walk. What struck me from the first visit was her demeanor and very kind and calming personality. I really enjoyed all the visits. I had been to a number of acupuncturist and I should say that this was the best experience I had. My wrist was healed after two treatment. I can now easily do push ups and pull ups. I cannot imagine that I was suffering for more than a year. My back needed about 6-8 sessions after which I could continue my routine functions of sporting activities and fast paced hiking. I have to say that I went to her after visiting my on doctors, taking x-rays and MRI, and taking a barrage of medications. This review is long overdue. My husband and I had tried for 3 years to have a second child. Didn't have any trouble with the first one. Who would have thought it would be so hard with the second. I was ready for infertility tests when my colleague told me to try acupuncture. She was having trouble due to her age. But that's how she was able to get pregnant with her daughter. So I gave it a shot. I started seeing Shohreh weekly. Not much happened in the first three of months so she started to prescribe all natural herbs. Three more months went by and we got a positive test result. I continued to go in and see her even afterwards every couple of weeks to make sure the pregnancy goes well and the baby is growing healthy. While, I'm in her office, I take the opportunity to unwind. Always served as a good nap time for me! She's a very pleasant lady and always very sweet and kind and professional. I started seeing Shohreh a couple of years ago for chronic bursitis & sciatica that an orthopedic doctor & physical therapist were unable to cure and/or relieve the pain. I also was seeing a chiropractic doctor who recommended going to Shohreh for acupuncture to help with pain management. I had tried another acupuncturist and was not comfortable. From my initial visit with Shohreh, I felt very comfortable with her and her treatment space. She has a very kind, welcoming demeanor. After the initial treatments with quite a few visits over a month, I was able to feel relief. Since then, I have continued to see Shohreh to keep the bursitis & sciatica pain to a minimum and I have been able to continue to run. I also find that I now look forward to going and I continue to see her on a more preventative, rountine schedule (every 4-6 weeks). In addition to my initial pain, Shohreh has worked on relaxing my neck & back muscles. I don't like needles, but find acupuncture by Shohreh to be completely worth it. I am so relaxed during and after my sessions and enjoy the fact that I can continue to run and be healthy. To me Shohreh's acupuncture techniques are is better than the best massage. I am so glad my OBGYN recommended Shohreh! I had horrible swelling/carpal tunnel syndrome during my first pregnancy, and ended up going to her for acupuncture. I have been seeing Shoreh for several years for a variety of issues. I first saw her for sleep issues, I had been on sleeping medication for years and within a few treatments, I was able to sleep on my own. Shoreh is a very warm and caring person and that shows in her treatments as well. I have an old deep tissue injury in my back. From time to time, I have episodes of pain. Shoreh does her best to see me right away and within a few treatments, the pain is gone. Pain free for 4 months!!! Mid-winter I went to see Dr. Doustani for ankle problem that had been bothering me for close to two years. I'd had some relief with steroid injections, but they were temporary, and I didn't want to continue those as regular ongoing treatment. A colleague told me about Dr. Doustani and I went to see her in January. Dr. Doustani was clear with me about the treatment. She would know in 3 or 4 treatments if she would be able to help me, and if she was able to help me, it would take 6 to 8 treatments. I had 7 treatments from her the last one at the end of February. In addition to the acupuncture she also advised me on preventative measures hiking and walking in general to keep my ankle in good health. I waited to write a review because I wanted to make sure I stayed pain free. For close to two years I'd had to limit my hiking and walking to once every couple of weeks because the pain was so much. In the last four months I've been back to my regular pace of 3 or 4 walks / hikes a week. (My dog is much happier too.) This afternoon I completed a 2 hour hike in the Briones hills with a 20 lb backpack, a training hike for my first backpacking trip - 7 days in the Ansel Adams Wilderness! I have recommended Shohreh several times after I went to her for serious back pain. I fractured my L4/L5 and when I first went, I told her I contemplated acupuncture versus chiropractic. She told me to go to the chiropractor first, if I wanted, then her. After she said this, I just felt like it wasn't just about money. I ended up staying with her after I didn't feel comfortable with chiropractic care. (too much yanking on my back.)
