Incredible acupuncturist. I injured my neck a few years ago and green apple acupuncture was by far the only thing that got me through the initial very painful months. I was initially going weekly and slowly scaled back to now a maintenance regimen of every 4-6 weeks. Joey works magic with various methods of treatment involving needles, cupping, etc. One time I had bad bruising from cupping at my physical therapists office...after one acupuncture session with Joey the bruising lightened up immediately. This review is long overdue, but I went to Joey back in February for fertility help. I'd been trying to get pregnant for 9 months and this was my last ditch effort before we started to seek medical help. She sat down and spent a significant amount of time talking to me about my cycle, my nightly temp charts and other things I could be doing. Then we did my needle session. We started seeing Joey last year. Why? My 4 year old daughter has eczema. It was really bad when she was two and it fluctuates from okay to bad. We've tried a number of things including seeing a few dermatologists, applying several creams and steroids prescribed by doctors or recommended on Amazon. My BF got me a voucher from Groupon to get about a 45 minute session last summer. Though I never know how to gauge a service if my first visit is using a Groupon, I had a very pleasant experience. Joey's energy is very good, and she pinpointed some of the anxiety issues I had been having when I answered her questions about the reason for my visit. She went right into the treatment, which I appreciated since I felt like it maximized my time there rather than spending time answering more questions. I feel asleep within about 5 minutes of breathing and I woke up rested and energized, which I was not expecting at all. I would definitely recommend visiting Joey. I have little knowledge of acupuncture, but I found it to be effective for clearing my head and providing relaxation. My main reason for starting treatment with Green Apple Acupuncture was because of knee pain. I am a weekend warrior and had hurt my knee playing soccer. I made my first appointment and Joey emailed me my paper work prior to my first visit. This was great because i really hate trying to fill out my medical history in reception areas. Another great thing was that they sent me an email reminder about my appointment. The building was easy to find and the reception area was warm and calming. Joey reviewed my medical history and asked detailed questions about my knee pain and also PCOS. I was looking for an alternative way to treat my knee besides resting or not playing soccer(which my doctor would've told me). Joey suggested that i speak with my OBGYN about my PCOS and to get some tests done to see how my "lady parts" are looking. After we finished talking, i started my treatment. She told me what to expect (since it was my first time) and started treatment. After i had several pins in me, she told me to relax and that she would return in 20 minutes and that i might fall asleep which would be good. As soon as she left the room i crashed out...it was the best 20 minute nap i have ever had! After my treatment was complete i felt an immediate difference in my knee. I have been going to GAA on average every ten days since the beginning of May, my knee pain is gone. I am also taking herbs to treat my condition (PCOS) that has worked better than traditional medicine. I have recommended GAA to several friends and family members. I felt immediately comfortable coming into a serene environment. Joey is both personable and businesslike. I felt good about her asking me questions about ways in which my body experienced stress. This was good individuation. The acupuncture treatment for me (my first ever) amazed me! The needles felt like TINY pricks. The pain was FAR less than pricking my finger that I do daily because of diabetes to test my blood sugar level. I presented with general stress and specifically swelling and residual soreness from a recent root canal. As I lay on the table, my mouth muscles pulled into a smile without my making it happen. The needles were so light that as Joey removed some at the end of the treatment, I realized I had literally forgotten they were there. With other needles, there was a tingling, but no unpleasant sensation whatsoever. When I was done with the treatment, I literally had a LOT more energy. I was stretching from side to side (happily!) bending and feeling great energy in my body. My smile stayed on my face all day. I felt as if I had received an hour and a half massage but better, truthfully, because I had so much ENERGY! It was a different feeling than the relaxation that comes from a massage. I liked it better! Joey also pressed two fingers on my trapezius muscles (either side of the neck leading to the shoulders) where I always store stress and, again, in a couple of minutes it was as if some one had been massaging that area for a long time because there was a real release. I was a skeptic of acupuncture and to be honest a little worried about having little needles in me (I've past out almost every time getting blood drawn.... I know I know). I really can't say enough positive things about Joey at Green Apple Acupuncture.
