Originally I was nervous because it was my first time getting acupuncture, but the staff made me feel safe, calm, and welcome. Mr. Chou is very skilled and knowledgeable about what he does. I wanted to take the time to write an honest review on behalf of my mom. I have been taking my mom (age 82) to see Dr. Jax Chou for a couple of months for pain/weakness in her leg/hip. She had been having trouble walking and couldn't even take a step up the sidewalk on her own. It's a quiet office with relaxing music, I found myself falling asleep during the treatment I got from Dr. Chou. Where do I begin from? I want first to say that Mr Chou is just amazing. I came to see him because I have severe Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. I came into his office very desperate to help give me relief of the pain I have been having the last 4 months. Mr Chou took the time to sit down with me and listen to my issues. I threw out my back and could not walk for two days. Went to urgent care and took some anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant pills, but the pain was still there. I am rarely sick or in pain. I found Dr Chou when I needed treatment for poor circulation and we made an immediate connection. He is very personable and takes his time with me during the sessions. I'm a disabled vet with multiple injuries and decades of chronic pain. I've been running my own PT for the past few years with decent improvement in mobility. However, my four sessions with Dr Chou shaved about a year off my recovery time, probably more. I've never had someone work so hard to help me! I'm a difficult case and most people just phone it in, I'm used to it. Yeah, NOT the case here. Dr Chou and his wonderful wife went above and beyond in every way possible! That includes coming in early one morning to get one more session in before I left town. A week after the last session, multiple locked muscles in my glutes released while stretching. A spine/hip adjustment followed soon after allowing me to FINALLY place full weight on my right leg. That was only 10 years. Also, he fixed something in my feet that I didn't even tell him about! Back in basic training, I lost most of the feeling in the bottom of my feet. A week after the last session the nerves in my feet began firing wildly like I'd been hooked to jumper cables. Then the feeling suddenly returned, and my feet no longer hurt when they're cold now. It used to be unbearable. No boot or sock was thick enough. The pain would take my breath away if I stepped hard enough. Something to do with the nerve damage from basic training I'm sure. That was only 20 years. A month after the treatments I've made substantial mobility progress in my hips/back. I feel as if I'll be hiking again in a few months! I wish I lived there, I've still got a list of problems lol. I suffered an injury to my right arm and was diagnosed with tennis elbow due to my job. Through workers comp I was covered to receive accupuncture treatment and am glad I chose Dr. Chou's clinic. Initially I received treatment from another clinic but wasn't very happy with the services. They only saw me for 30 minutes which felt rushed and without much follow up during the treatment. On my first initial visit (6 visits) Dr. Chou spent quality time figuring out the root of the problem and getting to know me not just as a patient but as his guest. None of my visits seem rushed (always for an hour and more), and Dr. Chou made sure I was comfortable (even to the extent of helping me take off my socks and shoes) and checked in mid treatment to make any adjustments to the needles and points on my body so that I would get the maximum results. He used different techniques, massaged the pain area, offered Chinese herbal patches and sound advice during my visits. At the end of my 6 visits it felt like I was visiting a friend to get treatment due to Dr. Chou's personality and hospitality that he offered. The icing on the cake was I went in to get privately treated using my insurance and after finding out that it was going to be out of network and I'd have to pay out of pocket, Dr. Chou decided to offer me a free treatment for my time which shows his commitment towards his profession and passion.
