This is a hidden gem in Glastonbury. It's a little hard to find but once you get there you'll be pleased. Around dinner time it was packed, but we are seated immediately and given our drink drinks and appetizers. It's inside of a plaza along with other places and it looks like it's under construction in some areas. I would say this has one of the best all you can eat sushi selections in the area. We picked a variety of them and they all came out great. I also enjoyed the fact that they do hand rolls as well. The Philadelphia hand roll was delicious! Highly recommend!

Tried my first AYCE sushi place last night and i dont know how i hadnt been before! Shokudo is a sushi factory but all the products are a banger. Its no frills, the lighting is harsh, the decor is not. Its even located in a weird confusing building with offices, gyms, lash studios, and the ghost if the 1990's.But that doesnt matter. We waited 20 minutes on a busy saturday night, and the wait was worrh it. The menu has all your standard sushi house fare, plus a large variety of fun rolls included in the AYCE. We ordered greedily, thinking the portion sizes are small, ransacking the appetizer portion. We did NOT get a sexond round because we overdid it in round 1. The portions are pretty big and all the seafood (calamari, shrimp) were quite substantial. You get three rounds of ordering and for a saturday night its 27.99/adult 13.99/kid. The maki rolls were my favorite. We got a golden dragon, a red dragon, and a pink lady. The fish dishes we gor (including pepper tataki) was very fresh and cold. The staff is busy here, getting their attention is tricky because of how hard they hustle. That doesnt really matter though. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, we will forsure be back.

May have found my new favorite local AYCE sushi spot! It's located in a little shopping complex (just follow the signs in the building) They have private rooms to accommodate larger groups which was nice for our party of 7. They checked on us often and our orders arrived pretty quickly. AYCE places tend to have rolls that all taste similar, but Shokudo does a great job with their selection of rolls. Fresh and flavorful! Another nice touch is how little rice they put in their rolls and not try to fill you with it. Some standout rolls include the Green Fire roll and Kill Bill roll. Can't wait to come back (especially for the matcha ice cream)!

This was my first ever All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi experience and it was amazing! The restaurant is super cute and cozy, and would make a great date spot. The AYCE Sushi includes hand rolls, special rolls, sashimi, ice cream, salads, and other appetizers. You are allowed to order three times, and as is typical at other AYCE places, you will get charged if you leave any food. The crab and seaweed salad was an amazing start to the meal. The special rolls were all really good and the quality of everything seemed great. I also really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki as a little bit of something different from the fish. At the time, they were running a buy one get one free deal on hot sake, and their house hot sake was very good. The service was also extremely fast and we were shocked at how quickly our special rolls came out. I highly recommend checking this place out and I look forward to checking out their regular menu at some point too.

Finally the renovations are done and it's out with the old Min Ghung & in with the new Shokudo Sake bar! We've been waiting a loooong time since meeting the young idealistic 25 year old Ivan build his dream. Hubby loves the weekend AUCE menu at $27.99. It's a couple bucks less weekdays. Place is clean & bright, service is superb. Water always refilled & replenished food items come out well timed. 7pm Sunday is a light crowd tonight of happy patrons. If you don't partake in all you can eat like me, just order off the menu. I had a couple of rolls & I'm good to go! Price is nice for the two of us. Check out the new remodeled restaurant and Let me know your experiences. "Everything old is new again"! Happy healthy yelping, fellow foodies!

I'm back after being gone for many years. This is the firmer Min Ghung located at 39 New London Tpke #LL5 (far left; second floor of the Glen Lochen mall). The owner remembered me! This is AYCE for only $28. They politely ask you to not leave any sushi rice. There are no "to go" boxes and leftovers will be charged accordingly. You just can't go wrong here. For my first drink, I'm having a Lychee Love made with Tito's Vodka (Grey Goose for me), Lychee nectar and fresh lychee fruit. Oh my! That is filled to the rim (or the crest)! It tastes great! It's not diluted one bit. You get your money's worth here! Another table was RAVING about it! For my first item, I'm having the House Salad (clean, cold iceberg b lettuce). I love this dressing! Next up, I'm having a Miso Soup. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese staple made with fermented soybean paste (miso), broth (dashi), and additional ingredients like tofu, seaweed, and vegetables. Lots of seaweed. This is delicious! It is served hot and quickly I might add! Next up, I'm having the Seaweed Salad. Very good! This is the high quality, solid green type. Yummy! Next up, I'm having the Spicy Jani (crab) Salad. Oh yeah! Good stuff! Best thing I've had so far! Wow! Next up, I'm having the Salmon Kama (fish collar). Oh yes! It is wrapped around kani! These nothing better than this! Add a little ponzu sauce. Wow! Next up, I'm having the Pepper White Tuna Tataki (lightly searing tuna with sesame seeds). Spicy! I like it! Bring it on! Next up, I'm having the Salmon Roe (eggs) sushi. This is truly a taste of the ocean! Next up, I'm having the Edamame (a Japanese term for "beans on a branch", refers to young, green soybeans harvested before they mature and harden). These are good! Nice and salted! Nice music here too. It is very relaxing. You may have noticed my unique way of ordering here. I put the course numbers on the ticket. Although it is not conventional, they have always done it right! They also brought out a small dish with wasabi and ginger. Wasabi is a type of Japanese horseradish. Though wasabi is known primarily as being in paste form, it's actually derived from grating the rhizome root of a plant that's native to Japan. Japanese ginger, also known as myoga, is a leafy herb with a distinctive flavor and crunchy texture. In its natural form, it has quite strong! I believe that competes the first page of my order. For my next drink, I'm having the Guava Cosmo made with Cruzan Guava Rum, Triple Sec and mango juice. Very good! Not as strong as the last one, but that's a good thing. Next up, I'm having the Spicy Tuna HAND ROLL, I love these sushi snow cones! Next up is the Salmon Skin hand roll. These are unique here. They are hard to find anywhere else! These are good! Next up is the Pink Roll. This is a rare, non-rice sushi roll filled with kani (crab) in a soybean wrap with avocado (which I love). No rice makes the sushi might lighter and easier to eat. For dessert, I'm having the Green Tea ice cream. I love the cute, little menu strip of paper. I love this stuff! What a great meal!

The place itself was cute and staff were friendly. We went for ACYE sushi for my cousin's birthday, was also reasonable priced. I was really excited as they had a lot of different specialty rolls than other ACYE places. But I noticed they had no sashimi, which I often get a decent amount of. The BBQ squid was rubbery and squishy at the same time, didn't have the nice charred edges of other places and the barbecue sauce on it wasn't that great. When our food came to the table, it looked nice. It took me a bit to figure why I felt like something was off, the sushi was very mediocre to me and I realized it was the texture of the sushi rice that was ruining the sushi for me. It was sort of mushy. We each got drinks, which were good, I got plum sake, which really just tasted like plum wine to me, but lucky for me, I also like plum wine. The cocktail my cousin got was good too and they had a deal where you get the second drink free, so that was really nice. They never came to refill our water, but we didn't ask either. Took them a while to give us our check, we did have to flag them down for that. Overall, it was ok, but I don't plan on going back.

It has been a few years since I've visited which I will not be making that mistake again! Originally Min Ghung, but is now Shokudo Sake Bar is an AYCE sushi spot located in Glastonbury, CT! My friend and I came on a Thursday for dinner. It quickly picked up but customer service NEVER lacked. We got our food quickly everytime we ordered and were met by such kind people! They explained the menu to us and checked in consistently. The sushi was packed with fish and not overwhelmed with rice as most AYCE places are! The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff makes sure empty plates do not sit on your table for long! I will be returning soon for this local gem. It was delicious, well made, with awesome customer service! Highly recommend!

Great selection of sushi items! Recommend the Sweet Lady and Kill Bill rolls. Love the matcha green tea ice cream too!

This place was called 'Min Ghung' previously, but recently has been changed to Shokudo Sake Bar! The place is located in the basement of the building. There is signs leading you to the restaurant when you walk into the building so don't worry, there is less chance for you to get lost. This place has a big parking lot so don't stress out about parking! This is our go to all you can eat sushi place! We went as a group of 4. Ended up ordering a bunch of items from the appetizer menu like, crab tempura, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, chicken katsu, calamari! We also ordered a few special rolls! For drinks we got the Tequila Sunrise and Margarita! We love the service! They are quick and efficient! Friendly to their customers! During our visit it was busy but not too busy. If you are looking for a quick hangout spot with lots of varieties of sushi to try from, I will definitely recommend this spot!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. BEST all you can eat sushi! $25.99 (weekday) $27.99 (weekend) not sure what category Friday falls into. They do have a regular menu although I have never ordered off of it! Never have I had bad sushi from here! The variety is fantastic, love you can choose some appetizers, sushi rolls/ pieces, as well as specialty rolls! Favorites starters: Kani salad House salad Chicken katsu Goyza Smoked salmon, tuna, seared salmon and tuna pieces always fantastic! Spicy scallop pieces are to die for! I can go on and on! If you haven't been here worth it! They just remodeled looks great although I miss their old lighting it was more dim. It was too bright in there this time. I also miss when they had fountain soda they only have cans now. A fountain soda is a treat for me wish they would bring it back. They are also not serving alcohol at the moment as they are getting a new liquor license.

Min Ghung is a sushi restaurant. It is located inside of what appears to be corporate offices. It's for sure a sneaky location. Once you find it, well the secret is out. I've been here many times through the years. They have an all you can eat menu, as well as a regular menu. It was $27.99 when I was there on Sunday for all you can eat sushi. It is a few dollars less during the week. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. I love seaweed salad, their portions are very generous. The mango sushi, (not sure of the exact name) might be my favorite. The edamame is also a big hit. After checking in on Yelp, I was presented with a coupon for 10% off. The service is very pleasant and quick here. If you opt for the all you can eat menu, you'll be given a print out menu, so you can check off all the items you're intrested in. The dessert selection is usually pretty disappointing. They usually never have what I ask for, and the fried banana wasn't very appealing. I suppose you can't have it all. But you can have all the sushi.

3 things about this restaurant: 1. The interior is different from other restaurants and it was a nice set up! Customers were seated every other table due to the pandemic so they are following strict protocols. Hand sanitizers are given as well. 2. The most important thing at a sushi place is the rice to fish ratio. This place does an amazing job of putting as little as rice they can and stuff the insides with tuna, salmon, imitation crabs, and so much more. Other restaurants put a lot of rice so customers can get full quicker but that is not the case here so I applaud the restaurant! 3. Quality quality quality! Their quality of their sushi/sashimi are AMAZING. If the fish is not fresh, it can taste fishy. I didn't taste any fishy-ness which means they are using high quality items. Although the waiter can forget a couple of things that you ordered and wishing they had more sashimi varieties, I highly recommend coming with friends or family when craving sushi because this was one of the best sushi places I have had in CT! Overall: 4.5/5

No, I wasn't tripping on Psilocybin mushrooms, but I was playing baseball on one of the sports simulators at the Clubhouse on Main. You see, when you play their baseball game you can choose your opposing team (I couldn't resist competing against Team Zombie), choose your stadium, and choose a few other variables. Last night, a professional organization I belong to hosted a game night charity fundraiser here, and we had a blast. We played simulated baseball, golf, and hockey, threw axes and darts, had some great food, and overall had a sensational time. Clubhouse catered our food with platters of wings, quesadillas, salads, nachos and sliders. The food was plentiful and quite good. The space is huge and also has pool tables, video games, karaoke, Pop-A-Shot basketball games, a full bar and quite a few big flat screen TVs on the wall. I chatted with a couple who watched the Super Bowl here and told me the place was mobbed. Definitely a cool place to hang out or host a party. Oh, and best of all, I ran into fellow Elite Yelper Jen H while I was here! PRO TIP The bar isn't cheap, a Margarita I bought for a friend cost $14. Choices were limited to 'small and large plates', there was no appetizer section. We were asked "sparkling bottled ($$) or tap water?". We chose tap. Server brought an old-style quart-size milk bottle and small juice-size glasses. The water had no ice, so I assumed water was cold, it wasn't. I ordered a 'breakfast' stout, my wife coffee. Stout was served in a wine glass, not a traditional pint glass. Wife said coffee wasn't that hot. When they brought our beverages, wife asked for a napkin since none were on the table. Like most civilized countries, I like to put a napkin in my lap when I sit down in a restaurant. Apparently you need to ask for one here. Young server muttered something about place settings are brought when food is delivered. I guess an ale and coffee aren't napkin worthy. Not sure what they accomplish with this goofy policy. It looks more like some kind of cost cutting measure. We made reservations a week earlier, wanted us to confirm a second time through text the same morning. It led me to think this must be a popular place with people clamouring to get in. Once there, place wasn't bust at all, no waiting customers and a sea of unoccupied tables. Our guest arrived after we ordered our beverages. After a few minutes, I ended up flagging down a server to get her a drink. Another sign we were stuck with a 2nd or 3rd-string staff. Our aunt ordered a specialty drink from their menu; "champagne in a laundry basket", (looked more like laundry water in a wash tub). After taking our orders, paper menus were collected to be reused. Maybe they were saving money on copy paper. I kinda' wish she left one in case we wanted desserts or something later. They were keeping the table clear of literally everything. I ordered a humus plate for use as an appetizer, something to share and couldn't be screwed up while waiting for our main course. When entrees showed up, we all chose 'smoked sausage eggs-benedict', extra servers were in tow with plates, napkins and silverware, napkin place settings given after all plates were on the table. My wife was seated across from me, sitting next to her Aunt Nan. The first plate was placed in front of me. Even being the neanderthal caveman I am, I knew this was the most basic etiquette faux pas (I felt humiliated j/k). Ladies are ALWAYS served first, another red flag from an inexperienced staff. The 'smoked sausage' Eggs Benedict failed on many levels. It wasn't hot, poached eggs were both over and under-cooked- egg whites had chunky white snot, yolks were not runny. The 'smoked sausage', was kielbasa logs cut in half lengthwise, they were overcooked and impossible to cut without flattening and mutilating egg and muffin. They could be used as wheel chocks, I had to deconstruct it so sausage could be wrestled with on the side. Wife said the 'homemade' English muffin had the tap water taste like what we were served 'for free'. I couldn't help but envision a garden hose filling a mop bucket used for filling the milk bottles. The Hollandaise sauce lacked silky richness and flavor, I've had better with McCormick packets. Benedict was overpowered with the taste of the smoked sausage. This meal was our aunt's special treat for our birthdays. They did not finish their meals, leaving mostly the pieces of the hockey puck-hard sausage. Server had been touting the pastry chef for the home-made English muffins. They were not any better than Thomas's English muffins. I am a plate-cleaner by habit, I've even been called human garbage disposal, so I managed to clear this one, (except for the egg snot, it would've taken a straw to finish it). My wife always has leftovers I happily dispose of quietly, not this time, gave it a hard pass. I felt unfulfilled, I was food frustrated, so I ordered some bacon cheese scones and shared them with the table. They turned out to be the best thing we had, warm Bisquick quality with a good taste of bacon and cheese almost as addicting as Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. We consumed them like a pack of hungry wolves. I asked and was told they don't serve them with butter. These begged for butter. IMO, butter should already be on the table. My wife picked this venue for our birthday treat meal with our beloved Aunt Nan from MA treating us. I apologized to her for our disappointing choice. She said she was glad I said it, she didn't want to say anything to make us feel bad. With tip, the bill for 3 was $171.00. We could have had a better meal and service at an IHOP for a quarter of the cost, I know I would have felt more satisfied. This experience made onto my list of top 5 worst eating experiences.

Nice presentation (the Amarena cherry on the wooden stick) and a great tasting drink! The bartenders are good here! Very attentive! For my next food item, I'm having the Steamed Mussels made with soppressata, capers, shellfish stock, spring herb butter and Pernod butter. I love the focaccia! It is heavily buttered. The mussels are real good! For my next food item, I'm having the Scallops A La Plancha made with mustard spatzle, pea puree, asparagus and mushroom cream. This is good. It's heavy due to the pasta. It's like an entree. To wash this all down, I'm getting a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water. I like this stuff! For my next food item, I'm having four (Buck a Shuck) Cherrystone clams and four Oysters of the Day (only $1.95 each). These are good! I love the cocktail and vinaigrette sauces (with the crushed pink peppercorns). Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having a Happy Hemmy made with rum, grapefruit juice, lime and vanilla extract. What a great drink! Very unique taste! This has kick! For my food item, I'm having the "Baltimore Style" Shrimp Cocktail made with Old Bay Seasoning and stone ground mustard. OMG! The shrimp are big These are great! I love that mustard! For my next good item, I'm having the Blackened Fish Taco made with pineapple salsa and aji verde. I love it! This is easy to eat. For my last appetizer, I'm having the Happy Burger made with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. I miss this badly! This is delicious! It's a well-seasoned burger let me tell you! For dessert, I'm having the Creme Brulee. This is the cutest Creme brulee ever! On a Happy Hour menu?! This is a first anywhere! My favorite dessert! This is great! For my final drink, I'm having the Gin Gimlet made with Greylock Gin, simple syrup and lime juice. This is good! It's light so it's easy to drink at the end of my meal. That's 11 food items I ate and 4 mixed drinks. What a fantastic meal here!

Had an incredible dinner at Max Fish and it honestly delivered across the board…read more Started with the lobster bisque -- silky, rich, and absolutely amazing. The clam chowder was just as good, thick and loaded with flavor and ingredients in every bite. The grilled octopus with potatoes was a standout -- perfectly tender (not rubbery at all) and packed with flavor. Oysters were fresh, crisp, and just straight up delicious. For the main, the paella was -- rich, loaded with seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, clams), and cooked perfectly. Paired it with a light beer which helped cut through the richness and kept everything balanced. Service was on point and the ambiance made it a great overall experience. Definitely a spot I'd go back to.
