Got the lunch special. Maki were huge and very tasty. Soup tasted like typical miso. Salad was interesting. There was some red stringy things on top that I took up due to potential food sensitivity. I'm not sure what it was, maybe beets or something pickled. The dressing kind of sunk to the bottom but was OK, too watery. The fried potato ball was interesting, covered in like a katsu sauce. I haven't been here in probably a decade. This is a very popular Japanese restaurant in Manchester. It's been here for years. It is located at 248 Broad St. and is closed on Sunday and Monday. It's small with only 6 tables and a 3-seat sushi bar. For my first item, I'm trying their miso soup . Per WP: "Miso soup (味噌汁 or お味噌汁, misoshiru or omisoshiru, お-/o- being an 'honorific prefix') is a traditional Japanese soup consisting of a dashi stock into which softened miso paste is mixed. In addition, there are many optional ingredients (various vegetables, tofu, abura-age, etc.) that may be added depending on regional and seasonal recipes, and personal preference. In Japanese food culture, miso soup is a representative of soup dishes served with rice. Miso soup is also called omiotsuke (御味御付)." It's a decent sized bowl that's served piping hot . It's pretty tasty too! Wow ! Very tasty! To stay in the spirit, I'm having a Kirin Ichiban beer . KIRIN ICHIBAN is brewed from only malt, hops and water. Unlike other beers, only the first press of the wort is used. That´s why it´s called ICHIBAN - meaning "first" and "best" in Japanese. It is served in an ice cold mug. That's a nice touch! This is damn good beer too. For my next item, I'm having their "Green Salad ." Typically, it is served with a ginger dressing. Let's see what comes out. The dressing is light but very good . It looks like it mainly iceberg lettuce , a big cucumber chunk and whatever the julienned purple stuff is. For my appetizer, I'm trying the "Blackened Tuna " which is served with a spicy mayonnaise (light for me - which I forgot to ask). Next up, I'm having the Yakitori. These are broiled chicken and vegetables on skewers. These look good and taste even better! Wow ! These are good . For my entree, I'm having the "Three Sister Roll" made with mango , spicy crab inside and is topped with salmon and lemon . This looks great and tastes even better! This is a great place! read more

I love Hana sushi and try to support it whenever I can, however... Every single time I call for takeout, the food is not ready when they say it will be. It's always an additional 20 or 30 minutes longer even when I show up later for my food. I don't know why that is, but it makes me nuts...the food itself is absolutely delicious, I love the rolls and the restaurant appears clean and the food tastes fresh. It feels larger than it is because of the mirrors on one of the walls, which really helps open up the place. We were greeted right away by friendly waitstaff. Although the place is small, it doesn't feel crowded. We tried three special rolls: New Windsor Roll: Salmon and blackened tuna on the inside. Avocado on the outside. This one is amazing. It's so fresh and beautiful Yankee Roll: Spicy crab inside, spicy salmon, tuna, yellowtail. Really good flavor combo. Dynamite Roll: Salmon, white fish, crab, asparagus and scallion, slight battered *This one is good but it's more crunchy than I anticipated. The size is nearly too big to fit the whole thing in your mouth and can get messy with the sauce if you're not careful. All in all, super friendly staff, good prices, and delicious rolls. read more

Woohoo! As good as it gets! 5 stars no doubt in my mind. I literally couldn't find a bad thing about my dining experience here if I tried. I'm wondering how I lived in this town for a period of time and continued to get sushi elsewhere..... hmmm.. Hana is tucked in the back of a tiny plaza. The place is tiny. You walk in and run into the front desk/ register area which is directly in front of the sushi bar which is directly in front of the kitchen. To the left there are about 8 tables in the entire restaurant and a little curtain blocking the bathroom which is in the same room as the dining room. The same guy doing take out orders is also your server. No frills here. The food here is strictly Japanese so don't except any fried rice or anything of that sort. We tried the Phoenix Roll, spicy tuna roll, a chicken tempura roll, chicken teriyaki, miso soup, and edamame. I was immediately impressed that they were willing to make a custom chicken tempura roll with cream cheese for my boyfriend so he can pretend that he likes sushi . I was a little leery about the Phoenix roll because it was topped with mango and filled with shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. OH MY GOD the flavor explosion in my mouth was amazing. We couldn't get over how well the mango complimented the roll. My boyfriend even said "this roll turned sushi into a mood thing to a have all the time thing". SCORE. The tuna roll was amazing, very fresh and no fishy flavor noted at all. Everything else was very good. This is absolutely my new go to sushi place without a doubt!!! read more

At Hana Sushi I have found my new favorite Asian dish: chicken katsu don. This dish is amazing! It's fried egg chicken over rice and veggies. They also have a pork option, but I think the chicken is moister with more flavor. This is the only dish I've tried every time I've come here because it's just so good!
