Country Fried Steak breakfast. At Shoney's in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Tom D.

We end up eating at this Shoney's location OFTEN -- yeah, it can be Hit or Miss at times, but generally the food ranges from decent to good. For example, a few weeks back, my fiancee thought her steak was awesome, but the steak she received this morning was overdone. Like I said, Hit or Miss. But Shoney's is still a "Safe Bet" if you are wanting to eat in the town of Fayetteville -- for the most part, the other choices are limited and the food tends to be sub-par. We like the breakfast buffet more than the lunch buffet. Loved the seasonal pancakes they served this Fall (Gingerbread just before Christmas, Pumpkin earlier in the Fall season). Salad bar is pretty good also. Service is always great, staff is very friendly and attentive.

Where to start... The salad bar needed filling. The Cole slaw , I would bet I is out of date or very close. It had a funky taste. The food bar just didn't excite me in the least. Our table still has used plates but I did get the check. First and last time here....

Easy place to eat esp when you're traveling. Not the most edible, but the food goes down (-:

talk about a comeback…read more The Southern Table staff and management sought to ensure we had a great experience this time and excelled. Great customer service and I greatly appreciate their accountability/ willingness to make up for our previous visit. Last night we started with the crab croquettes, STELLAR. Absolutely loved and devoured these. The crunch on the croquette was to die for, topped with a refreshing crab salad, perfect. For my entree, I had the lamb rack with house potatoes & broccolini. My boyfriend had the blackened catfish with the grits. Both dishes were phenomenal . To finish up we tried their new chocolate strawberry bread pudding, so rich and delicious. This restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Northern Alabama. Go give them a try! We'll 100% be back.

I suppose that's true If your hunting…read morelodge looks like an early 20th century brick building with a few deer heads grouped in one spot on the wall and a small black bear above the door. This seemed to want to be a foodie destination. The half, fried chicken included a small drumstick, small wing, piece of breast, and another piece that was unidentifiable but might have been a thigh. It had a spicy sweet sauce covering, which we opted to have on the side. That was a good choice because the hint of cayenne was still too much for one diner. We asked about the slaw -- whether it had a cream or vinegar dressing. The server described it as a "creamy vinegar." It made no difference because the dressing was so understated that the side tasted more like chopped cabbage than anything else. Disappointing. Finally, I asked the server whether the grilled green beans were actually that. I was more curious than anything else because grilled green beans would take longer to cook. She said yes, they were grilled. I don't think so. They came out fairly quickly and were pretty universally blackened all over like they were cooked in a skillet. Once our food was delivered, we never saw our server again until I asked for the check. So, what I believe was intended to be an elevated dining experience was simply under executed.

I'll be honest, I was so in the moment and enjoying my time that I forgot to snap pics of everything. I guess you will just have to take my word for it and go experience this great find for yourself. I was a little hesitant since we were in a new town and everything was packed, but this place totally delivered. The omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor, and the French toast... well, I wasn't expecting it to be deep fried but holy cow it worked. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside, and absolutely addictive. The service was quick and friendly even with the festival crowds, and the vibe inside is fun and casual exactly what you want for breakfast. Portions are generous too, so we left stuffed and happy. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. We even walked over to the Lodge Museum afterward and made a whole morning out of it.

It was a random weekday morning, so it was really quiet. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. It's a casual place, with lots of tv's. I had a hard time choosing between the Yard Work Skillet and the Cornbread Omelet, but I figured where else would I find a cornbread omelet? It was SO yummy. I got the bacon on the side because I don't eat it, but there was a lovely amount of veggies and just the right amount of cheese. The cornbread eggs had such an interesting flavor. I got the cheese grits on the side which were a little spicy and deliciously creamy. My gf got a breakfast plate and thought it was good. The crispy hash cake was ok but a little dense. I ended up eating her biscuit the next day and it was really good.

It was very crowded outside and inside. We walked inside and there were 2 vacant tables. I stood by a table while we waited to place a takeout order. It was a long 8 minute wait. I looked around and was surprised at how many people were enjoying mimosa's and other drinks. I didn't see any dirty martini's. I ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy. The biscuit has noticeable bacon bits and cheddar. The sausage gravy had bits of sausage and I could definitely taste cream. In my humble opinion I prefer a biscuit without added bacon and cheddar. I prefer milk or half and half versus cream in my gravy. Others may disagree and that's ok. All of us do not have the same palate. 4/5 Dave ordered Dad's Egg Sandwich. The sandwich was ok. I make egg sandwiches multiple times a week for Dave. I suppose I expected more than the sandwich delivered. 4/5 The visit was marred by the near 28 minute wait for our food. The kitchen cooked our food and a bag sat on the counter for a while. It was the same location delivery drivers were picking up food. After several orders were delivered for people that came in after us, I sent Dave to inquire about our food. The bag was our order and was sitting on the counter...getting cold. Dave's name was not called out when the order was ready. We were 5 feet from the counter. I may return again to check out other foods on the menu. I did not discount the review for the late and cold food. If you are into brunch foods and drinks, please visit this locally owned restaurant. 4/5

I also appreciated that when I lost my only ChapStick, the staff kindly gave me one from their shop at no charge, which was a nice gesture. That said, there were several disappointments. The pool area did not match the photos online. The chairs were much more basic than pictured, the surrounding area was concrete instead of brick, and the overall atmosphere felt less luxurious than expected. The shower water pressure was very weak. The room door was difficult to open and had to be pulled firmly to fully latch when closing. While walking through the halls, I noticed several room doors that appeared closed but could have easily been pushed open because they had not latched properly. There were also a few smaller issues. The coffee cup lids did not fit properly, and the breakfast buffet was mediocre, especially for the $18 price. I even noticed a dirty plate mixed in with the stack of clean plates. On the positive side, a regular cup of coffee from the café was reasonably priced at $3.22. While the room was generally clean, I did find a hair and a makeup stain on one of the pillows. Overall, the stay was decent thanks to the friendly staff and comfortable bed, but the property did not quite live up to the expectations set by the photos and amenities.

The only upgrade to the property I can recommend is the landscaping in the back court yard. Very overgrown and scarce looking.
