The breakfast burrito had sausage in it and the flavors were there. They have tomato gravy which is great (not as good as our family secret recipe) but it felt like home ordering this. Hash cakes are dense but still crispy and airy at the same time. The museum is only $10 so may as well walk around after to let the food settle in and shop at the lodge store which has soooo many options. Will be coming here every time I visit family. Finally a great breakfast place on I-24 between monteagle and Chattanooga! Connected to the lodge Cast-Iron factory, this place is just minutes off the interstate, easy to find and plenty of parking. It has a bright and open welcoming vibe and our server was outstanding, responsive, courteous and efficient. The selection is large and both of our big breakfasts were very tasty and filling. I had the big bad skillet: scrambled eggs, skillet fried red potatoes and all the meats--bacon, ham and sausage. The combination really works! My partner had the Jack Benny, their version of eggs hollandaise but with a nice slice of ham. I also got their biscuit, which others had recommended to me. Huge biscuits are the rage but not really my fav. This one was crumbly but well baked. The blueberry jam gave it a high yummy rating. We decided to take a chance on Big Bad Breakfast during the Cornbread Festival and man, am I glad we did! I was a little hesitant since we were in a new town and everything was packed, but this place totally delivered. The omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor, and the French toast... well, I wasn't expecting it to be deep fried but holy cow it worked. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside, and absolutely addictive. The service was quick and friendly even with the festival crowds, and the vibe inside is fun and casual exactly what you want for breakfast. Portions are generous too, so we left stuffed and happy. We were visiting Chattanooga and thought it would be fun to check out the Lodge Cast Iron Museum, so naturally we ate at Big Bad Breakfast while there. It was a random weekday morning, so it was really quiet. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. It's a casual place, with lots of tv's. I had a hard time choosing between the Yard Work Skillet and the Cornbread Omelet, but I figured where else would I find a cornbread omelet? It was SO yummy. I got the bacon on the side because I don't eat it, but there was a lovely amount of veggies and just the right amount of cheese. The cornbread eggs had such an interesting flavor. My friends were in town for the weekend and suggested we do breakfast at Big Bad Breakfast. Although I live closer to the one in Chattanooga, I just love the one at the Lodge store. So suggested we go there and also check out the store. We had about a 15 minute wait before we're seated. Our waitress was quite friendly and attentive. I decided to order steak and eggs and switch my toast to a pancake. I ordered the steak medium, but it was brought well done. I'm pretty sure it's due to how thin the steak is. I wonder if it's better for them not to ask how you want your steak done since they don't have much control over it. I also noticed the steak was quite grizzly. Although I ate mine and pushed through one of the guest at my table was not able to eat hers. Overall, the food was good, but not the same as when I visit during the Cornbread Festival weekends. I'm not sure what the difference is. It just was not the same experience. My friends had a variety of other meals and some really enjoy theirs and other thought that the meal was not very good. I was really surprised when the one friend who ordered the cornbread omelette, said that it wasn't good since I've previously had it and loved it! A few also ordered coffee drinks and mentioned that they were either too sweet or watered down. We arrived very early as we were on our way traveling. Seater quickly. The store was very clean. Our server Stephanie was great. She explained the menu and that everything was prepared from scratch. The biscuits were fabulous and the raspberry jam (homemade) was the best raspberry jam we have ever tasted. We bought half a pint for $5. Our waitress, Emily (pretty sure that was her name), was fantastic and an absolute joy -- attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. Also, a huge thank you to the staff for finding and keeping my mom's phone safe! The decor was great -- I especially loved the cracked egg lights, such a fun and fitting touch for a breakfast spot. So incredibly good! We came to lodge cast iron for their sale and decided to hit up breakfast/lunch before shopping. The staff were wonderful and assured us we would be done without issue of missing our scheduled time for the sale. We sat outside because the weather was amazing. It was nice and quiet considering the sale was a big draw to the area. So I am sure it's more traffic then is usually there. The waitress was amazing. The burger was excellent. Yeah, BBB is a chain and you can find them all over, but that doesn't mean they don't serve an excellent breakfast. We stopped at this location on the way to Cleveland, TN. BONUS!!! It's connected to the Lodge museum and factory. Really cool to see. The food was amazing. Both skillets were hot, delicious, and very filling. You won't be hungry after. The pancakes were also very good. Do I wish they offered pure maple syrup? Of course I do *shrug* BONUS pt. 2!!! You can buy the same skillets your meal comes in at the Lodge Store and recreate these dishes at the house. Pretty good food and great service. My parents and I had brunch together and we enjoyed our time here. I got the Screamin' Demon, my mom got the Yard Work skillet, and I think my dad got the Smash burger but I'm not certain on that. I loved what I ordered, the fried chicken piece in my sandwich was huge. It was crispy, I loved the texture and the special sauce in it was good too. I wish I had sauce on the side so I could have more of it. Portion size was good, I had a bunch of fries and leftover sandwich that I couldn't finish. My mom's entree was really good too. I thoroughly enjoyed my Low Country Skillet! It was cooked to perfection. I don't normally eat scrambled eggs from restaurants, because they're usually fake, but BBB uses real eggs & they were delicious! I ordered egg whites & the waitress forgot to modify it. I'm glad she did. My brother in law got the cornbread omelette. I tasted it. It was really savory. The cornbread is not sweet at all. The spinach tastes more like greens. It almost tastes like Thanksgiving. My other friends had the steak and eggs and complained that the steak was not cooked to the temperature that they like them. They were well done & a tad chewy. This place was fantastic! The novelty of having a breakfast/brunch place at the Lodge where they manufacture the original iron skillets was neat. The food was well prepared and delicious. There was a good variety of dish choices. The omelettes were large, the bacon slices were large, the Belgian waffles were large; you get the idea that you get enough to eat. The atmosphere was also nice and clean. Our server Kristina was extremely attentive and seemed genuinely friendly along with rest of the staff. Bonus, you can do the Lodge museum tour for $10 if that interests you; next time for us. And finally you can browse the Lodge factory store before you leave. We stopped at this Restaurant that is based inside the Lodge Factory Store ( Cast Iron Factory Store) The restaurant was quite busy for a late Saturday morning but we were greeted almost immediately at seated within a few minutes. I will say the staff here throughout the entire meal were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable but a little noisy with all the hustle and bustle but at the same time quite clean and modern cafe feel. The menu, wow so many breakfast choices, we loved the fact that you could order something as simple as eggs n bacon or change it up a little like we did with a BLT Omelette! Topped with tomato gravy I was intrigued and had to try it. The gravy did not disappoint. We also shared an order of Chicken n waffles, Strips of Southern Fried Chicken set atop a yummy Belgian waffle. Yummy. My only complaint was the side of Sausage Gravy ( only Gravy) we tried on the side that was 2.50 for barely a few tablespoons. The gravy was average. Overall if you're out in South Pittsburgh or want to take a 10 minute detour off I-24 this place is definitely worth the stop. read more

Another great breakfast at another Big Bad Breakfast...this time in South Pittsburg, TN. We were seated quickly since we got there just about 45 minutes after they opened. I ordered the Biscuit Crumble with sausage gravy instead of the tomato gravy. I also ordered some of the skillet potatoes. Everything I ordered was super tasty. The eggs were cooked just right, the sausage gravy was great considering I'm not a fan of sausage gravy overall. My wife ordered the Big Bad Skillet and she said it was delicious! Before we hit the road, we each ordered a Vietnamese Big Bad Cold Brew...one vanilla and one caramel. Those were phenomenal! Our server, Brooke was just wonderful as well. Highly recommend that you stop by Big Bad Breakfast if you're passing through South Pittsburg, TN...and it's attached to the Lodge (Cast Iron) Store right next to the factory where they are made. So, we've been wanting to try this place for a while and thought, on a whim, to give it a shot. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ordered the shrimp and grits. The food was fair and the service was excellent, but I have a couple of things I'd like to say about the food itself. Let's start with the biscuits and gravy. It had a very strange flavour. I'm going to go out on a ledge here, I think they add or do something crazy with the gravy to try and make it "different" and it has a strange nutty flavor that isn't palatable. They need to rethink this - a lot! The shrimp and grits were fair too - the grits were actually great, and the quality of the shrimp was good. However, again they got weird with the rest of it. The dish was too busy and the Cajun sauce overpowers everything. The dining room was clean and the staff friendly. My advice to this restaurant chain would to be stop all the pretentious rubbish and focus on excellent quality with simple ingredients. Biscuits and gravy can be amazing, stop messing with it. Same for the shrimp and grits. The shrimp, grits, red eye gravy and even the bacon were enough. The rest of it was unnecessary to making the dish excellent - I don't know what the loose sausage stuff in it was about, but you need to stop it, it was salty and nasty. We live close enough that we might be back, but it would be great if they focus on quality not on what they think "interesting" is. read more
