This is my second trip to the Shoofly Dairy this time I brought my entire family. The ice cream is really really good and my kids love their snowballs (flavored shaved ice). The owners are incredibly friendly and they have games on the side of the building for kids and adults alike. It's quality at a good price we won't be going anywhere else from now on. It's just around the corner from Wawa and right next to Emily's Donuts. Give this local place I try you won't regret it! read more

This place is awesome, a real Mom n Pop type place. We visited Williamsburg during one of the hottest days of the year. Thanks go to Kimberly-Gretchen as her review prompted me to try Shoofly Dairy! The ice cream is top notch. My wife loved her vanilla malted shake, and her cousin had a large trust wit sprinkles which was one of the biggest cones we've seen. This was so perfect for such a hot day. The are so many choices it can be easy to get overwhelmed, but really everything we tried was amaze-balls. The ice cream was so rich and creamy and was perfectly balanced with the shaved ice. We had a blast sitting and playing Jenga, checkers, and hula hoops. My husband and I were trying to find a place for dessert but couldn't really make a decision on where to go. I did a Yelp search and saw Shoofly. I knew this place existed but had never been and honestly assumed they'd be closed for the season. To our surprise they are open year round! I had a hot fudge sundae and the hubs had shoofly pie a la mode. The sundae was good but the shoofly pie was even better. I was a bit jealous of my husband's choice lol. Today I was craving a brownie fudge sundae and we went there and at first we were disappointed that they didn't have any, but the cashier suggested a whoopie pie sundae and it was the BEST!! Great for families. It's not a chain so you get a local feel. Connect Four and hula hoops outside for kids ( and adults too). So many sno come flavors it's hard to choose. All natural ingredients too. If you're in Williamsburg with your family- this is the place for dessert! read more

Planned to get a nice ice cream, but parked in the only available space in front of the next door restaurant. The Shoofly manager or owner asked politely for me to move my car. There was no one else parked in front of the restaurant during the quarantine. No one else and multiple empty available parking spaces. Why is Shoofly enforcing Moody's parking lots? Let Moody do that. It would have taken ten minutes max for me to get an ice cream and go. I went to SMI where they don't have a parking problem and perfectly good ice cream. read more

Service was very friendly. My son had frutasia flavored ice and it was very good. I found the soft serve to be very rich and clearly of good quality. I do wish they would put more of the traditional amount of sprinkles on the ice cream, it was more like a dusting of sprinkles. read more

We tried this place on a whim while on vacation. (The ice cream shop at our hotel closes at 7pm. What?!) WOW! Excellent service. The soft serve is rich and fresh, the hot fudge tasted home made. Other toppings were fresh, rainbow sprinkles looked like they didn't have artificial coloring. The snowballs (shaved ice/snow cones) looked delicious and the variety of flavors was incredible! They had giant connect four, giant Jenga, hula hoops, giant checkers, and corn hole toss out in the back area of the parking lot. Our kids LOVED it! Tables were clean, and it seemed like we got there right on time. As we were leaving around 8:15, the line was into the parking lot, but moved quickly. read more

I had a soft serve twisty which is great however my partner-in-crime had a BUTTERSCOTCH MILKSHAKE and I sneaked a sip and it totally ROCKED MY WORLD!! This place has the REAL DEAL HOMEMADE ICE CREAM made from dairy fresh milk!!! And IT IS EXCELLENT!!! Additional to 100 flavors of traditional ice cream there is shaved ice. The soft serve ice cream is smooth perfection, made with real, fresh cream from a local dairy. The variety of shaved ice creations is absolutely amazing, and the hot fudge and whipped cream are more than just toppings -- they are worth the trip just on their own. And who knew that the cherry on top could be so special and flavorful? I've never tasted any others like them. Then there are the games and toys -- I don't know which is more fun: playing them or watching others play. I normally don't like to be arbitrarily negative with a business with so many positive reviews but I feel I must add a different perspective. Also, take my review with the caveat that I'm from the Midwest and we have amazing, real ice cream - in fact the best ice cream in the country (according to the morning show GMA) is in Michigan - Moomer's (I'd give them a six star review if possible). Shoofly doesn't even sell real ice cream - it's all soft serve, sno-cones and the related concoctions. And when you only serve soft serve, those concoctions have to be especially good. Here's where the issue comes in. My wife had the equivalent of a Peanut Butter Cup flurry. I couldn't see any Peanut Butter Cups in it. She said they were the mini kind and were pretty sparse. Again, if soft serve is it, those concoctions better be pretty good. Our local place here in West Michigan (Campau Corners) gets it. They have real ice cream and their soft serve creations are amazing. They understand. Back to Shoofly . . . I had a strawberry shake as none of the other listed things sounded good - their menu had virtually no creativity whatsoever for adults. They did have a couple of things for kids that were interesting looking (a super sour sno-ball - my son had that; more on that in a bit). My strawberry shake was underwhelming. It had the same issue as my wife's flurry - very few strawberries. I could taste the vanilla base but little in the way of strawberries - another disappointment. My son had what was billed as an extremely sour sno-ball, called the Grim Reaper. He said it wasn't particularly sour at all and was almost bland. I wish I could say the service was spectacular but I can't say that either because the gal that served us seemed as uninspired as the concoctions they served us. I had a hot fudge sundae with added walnuts and bananas... Very large portion with the bananas and walnuts layered throughout the ice cream. Very old-school... I went there to get a snow cone and nobody was there. The open sign was on. So i waited and then left. I really wanted a sno come so i came back & knocked on the glass nobody answered. About 5 mins later a guy came to get my order. Sno cone wasn't good, it was drenched in syrup. It was really sweet couldn't even eat it all. Wasted my money. Extremely disappointed! read more

We visited this business on a hot summer evening. Everything they sell is thoughtfully sourced or homemade. The twist ice cream was the best I've ever had. The Shoofly pie was a delightful surprise. The snoballs were made with finely shaved ice, like the consistency of an actual snowball rather than chunks of ice. All flavors were made in house. If you happen to be lucky enough to be driving by, or you're staying nearby during a visit to Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens, do yourself a favor and stop in for a delicious dessert.
