I don't go to gun ranges much, but I found this place really enjoyable. The staff was very helpful and the range was really fun. It could just be me but I'd prefer the semi automatic weapons to be separate from the handgun shooting. I was firing a handgun and the gentleman next to me was just ripping shots with his rifle. I've driven past this Shoot Straight about a thousand times and only dropped in once or twice for accessories. I assumed the prices were too high and the staff snooty like any other gun shop. Yesterday, with a specific purchase in mind, I parked and walked in, just to feel it out. First of all, I found the gun I was looking for on sale $100 off and extremely competitive with internet prices. Plenty of staff on hand. Young fellow called Dustin helped me out. He showed me my options and reserved his opinions until I inquired. Nice touch there. I selected my handgun and he referred me over to a coworker, Zach, who helped me through the application and approval process. I went to Shoot Straight in Casselberry to accompany my cousin who was looking to purchase her first gun. Amongst all this covid mess I wanted to be in and out of there and had no interest in prolonging the trip. Dillian (Forgive me if I messed up the spelling) was AMAZING!! If I could give them zero stars I would. They constantly micromanaged every 10 minutes of our shooting. The lane next to us was shot out and we asked them to give us one of the 4 empty lanes next to us and they wouldn't. We've given them our service throughout the years and asked to speak to the manager and he dismissed us without even apologizing for employees mistreating us. I'm not going to lie I quit going to Shoot Straight in Apopka because of the service and the attitude that I got when I did. Decided to give it a second chance and pleasantly surprised things seem to be getting much better. I even bought a Nother gun from them which I thought I would never do again but I got good service was happy with the deal and have even back in to shoot two or three times cents. This seems like a rant, but man, I went into the store looking for a Remington 870, they informed me they don't know what that is, which shows an extremely uneducated staff as it's one of if not the most popular shotgun of all time. The clerk showed me to a Mossberg 550, which is good and all but not what I was looking for and it was about $100 more than I was willing to spend The owner came out and was one of the rudest men I have came across. Said "It's a good price, take it or leave it" I said "If that's the case I'll leave it" He then proceeded to tell me to leave then..... Solid store with good service and a well run (read they enforce the rules) range. Like any public range there is always a range of experience represented, but the staff is consistently helpful and their pricing is reasonable. I'm amused by the review on here complaining about a restocking fee if your "application" isn't approved. You should be arrested if you're trying to purchase a firearm illegally. You got off easy with a fee. The reviews on here that complain about rude staff are also off the mark. I'm a regular, shooting here a minimum three to four times a month. Employees didn't have real knowledge of the stuff they were selling. They were rude and treat Veterans like shit. I had one of their gun smiths install a spring kit for my Ruger SR9 and ended up having to send it back to Ruger.I think they hire the prettiest people they can find and wing it. I've come here a few times in the past, but was always turned off from buying from them because of the attitudes of service staff and the over exit ant prices. I stopped coming. However, they've since opened the larger store and they had a great deal on Sigs, so my husband and I decided to check them out. We were extremely impressed with the customer service and the deal so we made a purchase for him. I was gun shopping, unsure of what exactly I wanted but I knew I wanted a 9mm. There were two guys who were kind of arrogant (which was unfortunate because they were SUPER attractive..lol) I wasn't asking stupid questions, but apparently they had other things to do. I had cash burning a hole in my pocket because I was determined to buy a gun. My friend and I were trying to have fun and kinda make little jokes to the guys and they just kept giving us the death stare. He told me the SW 9VE was $299 "take it or leave it cause you aren't going to find a better price"..really? Just the tone of how he said it...I'll leave it. Thanks. I wound up purchasing the same exact gun from another dealer 30 minutes later for $300, no tax, no $5 background c heck fee and no 3 day wait period. My friend wound up purchasing a gun from them though, however they still charge you the $5.00 for a background check. Bass Pro shops and some other gun shops do not add on $5 for the background check if you already have your concealed weapons permit, just a little FYI. I would return if going to the gun range, then will update, but I won't go to them for my next firearm purchase. read more

Excellent range, if you are looking for a indoor range at a reasonable price. I have a yearly membership and they treat members really well! I shoot weekly and like any range, there are people, that say they are proficient with firearms and after watching for a second. You can see that they need help, they are watching the cameras and physically watching, so the range officials will keep people safe. If you don't like the rules, they will remove people from the range. If you have questions, ask them they are always willing to help. read more

I've been to the range here a few times and have been happy with the experience. I also rented a couple of their handguns while deciding what to buy. You need to be a member to rent, which costs about $30 for a month. The ammo prices are fair, and as another reviewer mentioned, the targets are cheap. Awesome service, merchandise, and customer service. I never shot at the range here, it was a little too expensive for my taste. I usually went to EOSS for the range part. I did in fact buy my first gun here. It was a pistol, so I had a three day waiting period. The prices were way better than other shops in the area, and I had no problem with the salesman at Shoot Straight. They always answered my questions, and let me check and handle any gun I wanted. Last time I went to the range there was a 20 min wait, no big deal, but when looking at some new ar-15 rifles the "new" salesperson, was very condescending to me and my son. Just a very rude person what was trying to show off his superior knowledge, and kept talking about personal things with another customer who wasn't buying a thing and showed no real interest in helping us. The indoor range is nice and I appreciate the strict rules. I like the fact that you can rapid fire and double tap. Nice clean store, but my overall impression of the staff, with the exception of the range personnel is that customer service in Norman their priority. They spend a lot of time socializing with each other and don't pay enough attention to the customers. If the staff could take some courses in customer service and overall gun and ammunition training that would be a positive. There are better stores out there with much better customer service, however this store does have a great selection and indoor air conditioned range. read more

This location isnt new, but the building is. They used to be a smaller shop with a range with only a few lanes. They've moved a little down the road and expanded their showroom and range. The Rifle/Pistol range is new, and air conditioned. I like this place because they don't bother me while I'm on the range. It's also nice they have range cards so I don't have to fill out the form to use the range each time like some other ranges. They also don't care if your ammo is surplus. I haven't had the magnet test done on my rifle rounds I bring in. Ive purchased a rifle and 3 handguns from shoot straight and never paid the price listed on the tag! The stuffed mounted animals are cool. If you are from PETA or against stuffed mounted animals, Id suggest you go to another range. read more

I went to shoot strait to help my wife get comfortable with a firearm and felt that the two employees that signed us in were seemingly arrogant and not to friendly. And did not feel welcome to be in the range. One of the employees said that he was on two hours of sleep. I understand range safety and the protocol of rules. This place is a nice been here twice, I bought 2 different weapons from them. 2 weeks ago had a great family time. We decided to go back last night and bought my ammo,targets payed for an Hour went in to shoot my new AR-15 .. At 8:30 they shut the range down, only 30 min of the hour that I payed ... It clearly says open till 9:00pm... No one bother to say... They were closing early ... If you post a sign that says close at 9:00pm is suppose to be at 9:00 not 8:30.. No one explain anything , no money back,no apologies ... Absolutely no one cared of our issue at the time ... We were very disappointed.. $900.00 spent and no one cares for costumer service.... Well the place has amazing look and feel then you do go past the firing lane door.... the place falls apart. 13 lanes and only 7 work!! Then the stick 3 grown men with 2 rifles each in it!!!! and charge each of us for a lane time! We get told by one to place our guns in the stales next to us so we can shoot in the only one working. Then we get yelled at by another one telling us to keep all the gun off the back shelf and in the our fire lane.... Well top it off the last on comes in yelling and says we need to put the guns on the floor in the cases in our fire lane or in the bench.... LIKE REALLY!! lets step all over the guns and better yet lets put all 6 gun in one lane with 3 grown men.... So very poor. I will never be back and I would tell you if you have more than one gun go place that can maintain the range. read more

Generally good experience at the gun range. The gunsmith is another story... I called to ask a few questions and basically was told I needed to come in. That's OK, I knew that would be the case so I asked if I could set up an appointment or just stop in the next hour (I wanted to speak with him before dropping off the guns). He said just stop in which I did about an hour later. When I walked in the gunsmith was standing there speaking with a customer and I patiently waited. There were standing right there so I could hear them talking about all things non-gun related, clearly not talking business. And he knew I was there because the clerks told him a couple of time. Twenty minutes later as he continued his non-business conversation I decided to take my business to someone who wanted it and walked out. read more

Not a good experience at all, first off they don't even tell you about their discounts up front, I ended paying a lot more than I should have. The place was packed, too many people in that small room, security was at a minimum at best, I had something stolen right off the counter top. When I called to discuss what had happened they turned it around on me and made it look it was my fault and that I was accusing them of not having proper security, also, as others have pointed out several times I found their tone to be rude and condescending. However, as a LEO I would not recommend it to other LEOs who wish to train or practice drawing from your holster since it is not allowed there. Only after I am on the range and starting to load up my magazines do they inform me that holster work and drawing is not allowed. They also complained about the target being a little too close, which is normally how I start to shoot during a regular course of fire. This would have been good information to give to people when they check-in so a properly informed person can make a decision whether to use their range or not to avoid a person wasting their time which is very valuable to me. read more

Just getting into purchasing guns and starting a collection. I didn't know any better, but this place MOST definitely lacks customer service. I've been asked if Im being helped but then when I asked questions, they treat you as if you were a dumbass. They make you feel like you're bothering them. I bought my gun there and I REGRET it. But what's done is done. Live and learn. I will NEVER purchase another item from them again or set foot in this store. The absolute WORST customer service EVER... I'm a customer service consultant and it is definitely a reflection of management when employees act this way, and management abviously doesn't care for repeat business. I would never step foot back into in the shoot straight establishment ever again in my life after I was insulted by the so-called managerI bought a Smith & Wesson MP shield talk to me about a year ago never been fired I bought it for my ex-wife is married to it it's a time I bought it back to see what they would give me for it I paid over $400 for the time they only assaulted me with $150 offer with the manager being as rude as he could possibly be and this particular gun has been out of stock for a long time so it's must be pretty popular gun so his thing says what I got to make money off that I said well you know what if you got to make money off of it you made money off me one time so you got to make money off the again I mean it wasn't like I was asking for a whole lot more asking for $25 more $175 just for the gun just to get rid of it because I didn't want it anymore because my ex-wife I took it back from her and the person I was going to give it to you didn't want in the house anymore so I didn't need it didn't want it but the point is is that he should not be insulted by in the stabley Schmidt by the manager you know you should be respectful and kind not you know I have my own business to and it's about how you speak to people and how you approach people about thingsif I would have known what I know about them now I would never have boughten a gun from them all they are is the tourist trap .it's like with any establishment here when they first started out the only had one store their great now they're all over the place so once you become a big company you lose your customer satisfaction your customer it turned into more of a money saying the more they taking care of your customer why called back to talk to the manager he thought you know he was going to try to be out smart man out with me you know I've been around guns all my life since I was a kid and I told him more about guns than he ever even knew that he even knew and he shut up as soon as I told him what I knew so I guess in a roundabout way it's my fault for taking it back there just because I was just wanting to get rid of it but you know it's just insulting 2 TV offer $150 for a gun that you paid over $400 for that's brand-new I mean I know it's not brand new since you got to take out the door but even though it was never fired never shot you know that's still she can take being taken in consideration everything was there nothing was missing not even the box receipt. read more

Went shooting at the range today for the first time. The store is nice and open floor plan for easy shopping. Spent some time on the range and the gun bought from them began to jam. After finishing we asked for assistance in how to disassemble the gun. We had previously tried taking it apart at home with no success. One individual could not figure out how to disassemble. The second individual was able to remove the first piece of the gun but couldn't figure out how to disassemble the remaining parts. We inquired about the warranty on the gun and told is was limited lifetime and we would have to send it to manufacture to have it looked at. We were also told that we could pay the gunsmith to look at it but we would be charged for him to look at it. We were not looking to repair the gun, just take it apart. The clerk had no idea how much it would cost to have the gunsmith look at it. Second guessing purchasing a gun without the customer service needed to operate. read more

Not bad price wise on guns but some of their accessories are a little steep. Their customer service could stand to use a little improvement. Had one staff member in particular get rude with us today. We were picking up a gun my boyfriend had ordered online. We went in and it was $5 for a background check. I told my boyfriend I had cash on me so he wouldn't have to put it on his card and gave him the money. This kid looks at me and says with a smug little attitude "is the gun for you?" No. He purchased the gun. His name is on the paperwork. He was about to say something else but I think he caught a glance at my glare and decided not to open his mouth again. I told him I had plenty of my own and was capable of making my own weapons purchases. Then he got a little snarky with my boyfriend saying that the address on his ID was different from the paperwork. I said he had brought his fishing license to prove his new residence and he snipped back "well, I'm going to need to see it." He was pretty short and rude with us throughout the entire process. He pulled the gun out of the box and tried to check it over FOR my boyfriend and put it back in the box. No. The customer needs to see that his purchase is ok. My boyfriend pulled it out to check it over and the guy was clearly not enthused. I'll continue to buy guns here if they have the lowest price on what I'm looking for. However, I'm probably done with this location. The Apopka location has much better customer service. read more

Great product and staff is always very helpful and nice but range lanes are always down. Good friends in town today and 5 out of 8 rifle ranges are out of service. This happens every time I come here so it is clear that the owner does not care about this location.
