Fish & chips were ok. I ordered this since pubs usually make a decent fish & chips but I got more fries than fish. Fish was flaky but wish there was more of it. Seems like a nice casual hangout spot but probably wouldn't return for the food.

Fantastic burger! Delicious onion rings (that stay intact)! Quick & pleasant service! Superb daily & game day specials! Truly a neighborhood gem. The wings are a staple & the locally sourced desserts are worth adding on. The rum mule was thoroughly enjoyed & is recommended (by my friend - I personally didn't try it). Relaxed elevated sports dive bar feel.

You know that feeling when you discover something amazing right next to home and wonder how did I not know this before? That was me today! First time at Shooter McGee's, and honestly, it felt like finding a little hidden gem in the neighborhood. The place had such a lively yet cozy vibe ,friendly faces, warm lighting, and that classic pub charm that instantly makes you feel comfortable. I went with my husband and best friend, and it turned into one of those easy, laughter-filled afternoons that you never plan but end up cherishing. We ordered the Blackened Bistro Steak Medallion Risotto one with beef, one with chicken and the Grilled Pork Chops. Everything came out perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully plated. The risotto was creamy, the seasoning just right comfort food with a little kick. Sometimes the best moments really are this simple good food, good company, and a new favorite spot found by accident.

Unbelievably salty lobster cracked sandwhich and egregiously miniscule old fashioned

Have lived here for decades and am just now trying this place. Upon entering, you immediately get a comfy, neighborhood bar vibe, despite the relatively modern aesthetic. Old fashioned- ummm, I'm not sure if this is how normally make their old- fashioneds or if my request for light syrup threw the bartender off, but my drink pretty much consisted of a shot of bourbon with an orange peel in it. I have noticed that some other establishments are less generous with their cocktail volume than others, so perhaps that is the standard here. Lobster crabcake sandwich - omg, do they have any salt left in the kitchen?? Perfect consistency and golden bun but the meat was practically inedible. I brought the issue to the manager's attention and he immediately took action, despite my insistence on paying for the meal. Stellar customer service! I'll try a second attempt with a salad next time.

Fish and chips and onion rings

I have been looking for a place that makes good fish and chips. I have been disappointed by other places in the area who consider frozen fish sticks and frozen fries as fish and chips. Shooter Mcgees fish and chips are legit and you definitely get your money's worth. Jeremiah was my server and he was impeccable. Very pleasant and polite and brought out malt vinegar for the fish and chips without me having to ask. I would definitely come back to try the Thursday BBQ rib special and the pork chops.

Walked in on this snowy day to meet my cousin and sister. Sat at the bar. Got shots of tito's. Tried the cheesesteak egg roll, in it piece there was a lot more onion than steak. Ordered the blacked chicken pasta, OMG the best pasta i've had. Definitely will becoming back for that. I've been here one time before and got the burger and it was the best. The service was good. The vibes were great inside.

I feel like I was robbed. I wanted to make this place my local pub I am from DC but have been living on the West End of Alexandria for three years now. I have always driven by this place, but never stopped then today my car was being repaired by my friend and I said hey why not it's Wednesday let me get some wings. TRASH! The Bartender was definitely nice and OK customer service but I literally ordered Buffalo wings with their shooters barbecue sauce in the side, a.k.a. glorified ketchup, and french fries with their cheese sauce. She clearly did not hear me order all this because they proceeded to only bring me wings with no sauce on them and two sauces on the side . The House made blue cheese tasted like Ken's ranch. I truly feelrobbed. I go to the bar for wings for the atmosphere and for the vibes. I know that I can buy my own 12 pack and make a much better 10 piece swing than most of these places are putting out nowadays, but it sucks when the bartender doesn't even hear what you order and they bring you a bunch of dry wings with no soul some basic House made blue cheese . I will definitely not be back again. If I could go get my money back, I would, but we know that's not how it works. The pictures you see attached is me giving these wings to my Mechanic who is hungry and ate them, but definitely called them basic as well.

Came in on a late Sunday night to hangout at the bar. It was the end of the week so their inventory was short and they still made do; when I ordered the sliders the bartender asked the kitchen to cut up some rolls because they were out of the bread usually used for them. So I still got to enjoy what I wanted and both meals were great! Bartender made sure we enjoyed everything and was very kind the whole night.

    Barbeque Ribs - Half Rack
    Elizabeth O.

First time trying Shooter McGees for Dinner. The server sat us right away and i really like the dining area booths, it's pretty small inside but also has a very nice outdoor seating area. I got the Signature Shooter Burger & my partner had the Half-Rack ribs. The burger was way over seasoned, it tasted like i bit into pure salt. i couldn't finish the burger so i stuck to my fries. The half-rack ribs were good but it was lacking in sauce and the meat portion was not worth the price for half rack ribs. My favorite thing was the fries, onion rings (on the burger) & the mac n' cheese. For 2 people we spent about $50. I do think the food had lots of potential to be great if they just get the seasoning & sauce portions correctly! i would come again to try their brunch !

The food was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, and the cocktails were exceptionally well mixed. I tried both the Cherry Blossom Sangria and the Orange Old Fashioned, and each was delicious and nicely balanced. Rather than ordering traditional entrées, we decided to sample several items. The Garlic Parmesan Wings were a standout--the Parmesan appeared to be freshly shredded, which gave them a noticeably fresher flavor than the typical pre-packaged version. The wings were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the dip and the Chicago Beef Pizza, both of which were flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. The service made the evening even more memorable. Monique and Alex were both attentive, personable, and welcoming throughout our visit. Monique, in particular, added a thoughtful personal touch when she commented on how much we seemed to be genuinely enjoying one another's company. It was such a kind observation and a beautiful reminder that, as friends, we don't always get enough opportunities to simply sit together, laugh, catch up, and enjoy the moment. Between the quality of the food, the well-crafted drinks, and the warm service, Joe's Thighs delivered a wonderful first impression. Nothing felt rushed or mass-produced; everything tasted fresh and intentionally prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be returning for football season. Prices were extremely reasonable and cost efficient. And a special thanks to Antwan for checking on our experience at our he restaurant and encouraging us to come back during the season. Because of these experiences and exceptional service from Antwan's welcome when we entered, the food & drinks the ladies impeccable service, and his recommendation when leaving, we are sure to return!!!!

Thankfully, you can park in the Embassy Suites garage and the restaurant validates for up to 3 hours, which definitely helps. One of the biggest draws here is the bottomless brunch. It's actually one of the more inexpensive bottomless brunches I've seen in the DMV, AND there's no time limit! That alone makes it worth considering if you want to sit, eat and enjoy brunch without watching the clock. Food was a little hit or miss for me. Some of the savory options were way too salty, and I really did NOT like the hot honey chicken & waffles. That one completely turned me off. The sweeter brunch options, however, were much better and definitely more my speed. Service was really good! Our waiter was attentive, helpful and checked on us throughout our meal. As far as the decor, it's pretty much your standard restaurant setup. Nothing particularly impressive or upscale, but there is plenty of memorabilia highlighting Joe Theismann's NFL career, which gives the restaurant some personality and history. Overall, affordable bottomless brunch + no time limit + good service are the wins. The food just needs a little more consistency for me.

The layout kinda reminds me of Toki Underground on H St. The ambiance was that of a regular bar, but with Chicago sports teams all over the ceiling & walls. I must say the sandwich was meh mainly due to the giardiniera not being spicy nor oily (it was vinegary but not truly pickled then sat in oil at the minimum for the classic Chicago styled giardiniera), and the au ju/ seasoned beef gravy tasted like regular cheap beef broth, not the unique flavor it's most notably known for. The bread was not the correct French roll typically used for the sandwich to soak up the juices. I noticed that there was no option to make it an "Italian beef combination sandwich" to add an Italian sausage link. It also was not double dipped in the au ju/ seasoned beef gravy. The sandwich tasted nothing like the original Chicago Italian beef sandwich. It was a bit of a let down because I had high hopes, but I also understand that sometimes, things will not taste the same outside of the place/ region it originated at. The only things I did like was how toasty/ fresh the roll was despite it not being the classic French roll. While I think the place is pretty okay, I do hope they can attempt to perfect the sandwich or at least come much closer to having it being truly Chicago styled. As someone with deep Chicago roots, I was disappointed and it felt like low-effort with failure to tap into potential they know is there.

Food is OK quality and prices are reasonable if not inexpensive on their specials, like the steak and ribs for only $25. Good flavor and cooked ok but a nice combo for the price. Service is OK with some wait staff being more efficient than others. There were some who knew their customers by name and took time out to talk with them but that slowed down service a little for the rest of us. Nothing too bad but you might wait a bit for refills or something you need after your food or drinks arrive. We had cool fries and it took a bit for the staff to come back to our table to check in the dining room. Similar response time for wait staff outside when we needed condiments that were ordered but didn't come out with our entrees. The entrees seemed, to us, to be too filling. The bacon cheeseburger consists of: "100% angus burger, apple-wood smoked bacon, vermont white cheddar, canadian cheddar, sliced tomato, and crispy leaf lettuce". We both ordered it cooked medium. The dish comes with fries. To drink, I had ginger ale while my husband had a Heineken 00. Our server was friendly and efficient. He made a mistake, bringing my husband a Coke instead of the beer. My husband corrected him. He apologized and retrieved the correct drink. The burger was dry and overcooked. It was more on the medium well side. In one way, I didn't mind that as I didn't end up with greasy hands or a burger that falls apart. The bacon and the cheese provided some relief from the dryness. The fries came out hot, which we appreciated. All in all, it was an OK experience; we would consider going again sometime.
