While visiting the D.C. area, we ended up staying at a nearby hotel. After checking in, we decided to walk to a restaurant close by. Thankfully, we stumbled upon Joe Theismann's Restaurant because there was a heat wave, and we didn't want to spend any more time outside than necessary. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, seated right away, and given menus. Our waitress introduced herself, offered recommendations for appetizers and entrées, and even convinced us to try one of their signature drinks. We started with the Broiled Chesapeake Crab Dip, and it was really tasty. It was rich and cheesy, with generous chunks of crab throughout. It was so good that we easily could have ordered another bowl! For our entrée, we shared the Chicken Louisiana. It had chicken, sausage, and shrimp with peppers and onions in a Cajun sauce served over rice. Now this dish was really delicious. It arrived hot and tasted freshly made to order. We even noticed the table next to us ordered the same thing. I can't remember the exact name of the martini I ordered, but it was very light and refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day. The restaurant itself is spacious, with a large bar, plenty of seating, and TVs throughout. Overall, we had a good dining experience. This used to be a 5 star place. They have ruined the menu. Taken things like their signature chicken tendes away. Changed their mothers day brunch. The service is clunky, the food is not as good and overall. I cannot understand if it is the recession or what but if it is not broken why try and fix it. 5 of us got dinner here and were pleasantly surprised. The location is nice, right on the corner and easy to access. Parking on the street was easy to find. We ordered two kids tenders, a burger, the club and a salad. The quality was great. The fries were good but they need a little more fryer time for my liking. No complaints really. My son and I stoped on way from NJ to our hotel for the begining of our road trip , couldn't believe how friendly our host was and our waiter Travis was the best couldn't have asked for better service from him , now onto the food the wings were hands down the biggest and tastiest wings I ever had anywhere , and the JRT cuban was unreal , on the way out we checked out the memorabilia on display and as a foot all fan from I have to say very impressive. Actually blown away by the hospitality and ambiance of their weekend brunch + food quality and prices! I came in with a party of 4 and we were there for a long time, ordering almost everything off the bottomless brunch menu twice along with the mimosas. There are screens airing different sports all around but specifically, my party wanted to watch soccer that day and they kindly changed the channel of the TV that was in our view. As for the brunch menu, our favorites were the crispy calamari, crab dip, nutella banana bread, french toast sticks, and sliders! First time here. Came for bottomless brunch and it did not disappoint! Aaya (spelling not sure) our server was top tier. Very attentive, knew all about the menu, food drinks, ect. Some of the plates were too big (if that's an actual problem). We just wanted to try all the things and it was hard because we don't like wasting food and some portions were way too big for just a try. Favorite item which I didn't get a photo of was the breakfast/biscuit sliders. Biscuit was soooo fresh. I would come back just for those to be honest.... Came here for happy hour with coworkers and had a nice experience. They have a large selection of beers on tap, which is great if you like options. We decided to try their happy hour "bar bites" deal for $32, which is more of a tapas-style spread, from chips and dip, bufflo wings, pork belly bites, fried pickles and sliders. It was fun getting to try a little bit of everything, though the portions were very small. Everything tasted alright, like elevated bar food. The restaurant itself is very large with a big bar area, so it's a good spot for groups and after-work drinks. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Parking is limited in the area, so street parking is probably your best bet. Fantastic spot! I highly recommend visiting here. My friend and I opted to come here since we were staying in the area. It was really convenient. When we arrived we were seated quickly. The interior is a little on the dark side, but I asked for a table that was a booth and good lighting. HEHE I need good lighting for photos. Our waiter was great the whole time. Our drinks were always taken care of and we never had to wait for anything. He was doing great with the table behind us as well. At one point I assume the manager, came up to us to check in. I do appreciate that. Our food was fantastic. I opted for the salmon and my friend got the meatloaf. We both enjoyed our meals very much! My salmon was flavored nicely, and the asparagus was cooked to perfection. My friend's meatloaf was a great portion. The green beans were also cooked to perfection. We were looking for something that had a variety of menu choices for each of our palates, and so glad we found Theismann's. Nice sports bar/ restaurant - good for taking your kiddos (like I did). Super friendly staff. We ordered several plates to share - the fried pickles, chicken wings, and garlic cheese bread - were so good. Would order again. Sadly, we ordered the Italian beef sandwich with gardinier, a little on the salty side and not sure if it was the provolone cheese. Recommend getting it with mozzarella, if available. Tried brunch at Theismann's in Alexandria and had a great experience overall. The crab dip was delicious, and the grilled banana bread was a standout , definitely one of my favorites from the table. The pork belly was also very well done and full of flavor. One thing to note: if you're doing the brunch option, it's mostly carb-heavy, though there are some standout items mixed in. Visited Theisman's this weekend for football Sunday and I can't believe they switched the fries on me. I was so mad, because that's what I loved most about my last visit. The fries were more of a steak cut fry-and this time they were similar to a fry you get at a seafood place. I don't know why they did that as if no one would notice. The starters were a pretty big portion, great to share but proceed with caution if you are trying to budget stomach space ;) If you're not feeling as hungry, they have à la cart, and the portions are big. I saw a video on TikTok for the restaurant a few weeks ago and was in the area today with family so we decided to stop by. We walked in the wrong door but that was okay as a waiter and hostess came to our rescue and brought us to the front of the restaurant. My 2026 Galentine's Day celebration with 11 friends was nothing short of amazing. The $29 bottomless brunch was a chef's kiss. I loved how accommodating the menu was--I swapped bread for chicken sliders and replaced beef in the tacos with chicken instead. The beignets were a must, especially with the added crab dip on top--absolutely delicious. John Paul (JP) was an outstanding server, and the food and atmosphere were a solid 10/10. I stopped by this nice bar-restaurant on a Wednesday night on my way home--it wasn't my first time there, but unfortunately, it wasn't one of my best decisions. I wanted something to eat and maybe a beer; I was heading home alone after a long workday in DC. I had seen that they closed at 11 PM, and it was 9:45 PM. I sat at the bar, which wasn't empty--there were a few customers at the bar and at some tables. It took them nearly five minutes to notice I hadn't been served. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, which was well-made, but the fries were at room temperature; it was obvious they weren't fresh. What caught my attention was that both bartenders were focused on cleaning the bar and getting ready to close up. When one of them finally took my order, she asked if I wanted a drink, and I thought, "Why not? A beer would be nice to end the night before heading home." I asked for a Hazy IPA sampler--which wasn't bad--but decided on a Hefeweizen instead. The bartender kept walking back and forth, cleaning and putting bottles away; about 10 minutes later, she realized and asked if I still wanted the beer. I told her yes, but that I had decided on a Hefeweizen. She went back to cleaning and never brought me the beer. I realized everyone was very focused on closing the restaurant; there was a young man shining a flashlight under the tables. Later, the bartender asked if I wanted another beer, but I told her she had never brought me the first one. She said, "I feel bad." I told her I just wanted the sandwich--which, by the way, took a long time; it might have been ready on the line, but no one ran it out. It was interesting to watch what was happening, and I kept telling myself I should have chosen to go to South Side Bar or Chadwick's. I didn't say anything about the fries--there was no point. I asked for the check, but the beer they hadn't brought me was on it. I kept waiting until the bartender came over, and I told her she was charging me for a... ...beer she didn't bring me; I noticed she seemed annoyed. She didn't say anything--she went to one terminal, then another, and finally brought me the check, saying, "I've sorted out the check for you." I was taken aback, mostly by her attitude. I paid, left a 10% tip, and left. I don't think I'll be coming back to this bar; there are plenty of other options nearby. A bit of constructive criticism, though: if they close at 11:00, it's fine to start getting ready to close 15 minutes early without affecting service, but if they are so meticulous about cleanliness, they should apply that same standard to customer service. I usually frequent bars to watch sports and have a good burger or bar food--especially during football season or March Madness--but I don't think this bar focuses on that type of clientele. Drinks are fun, not bottomless but really good selection of mimosas, beer, wine, and cocktails. The Bloody Mary comes with a side car of Miller Lite, fun! Service was a smidge slow but it was busy for a solid hour. Ambiance for Sunday football is solid. Lots of TVs, all of the tables and bar have a good view. On two recent lunch visits, service is not as good as it used to be. For example, on my first visit, we were a party of two and ordered two salads. From order to getting food to the table, it took 45 minutes. From being done eating and waiting for the check, another twenty minutes, for a total of 90 minutes. On last visit, party of 6, sat down at noon. I quickly explained we would need to order fast because we only had one hour to eat. We ordered six salads which showed up at 12:48, so I had to order a to-go box and the check. I guess Theismann's is no longer the place for lunch, unless you have a lot of time. If the service time doesn't improve, you will lose out on the professional lunch crowds. read more
