Love this place! When I first moved here, I went to Shooters World for my very first shooting experience with my Dad. Neither of us had ever shot handguns so we were both a bit nervous and unsure of what to expect. The guys at the range counter are awesome, they gave us a good idea of what guns to start with and showed us how to operate them. At no point did they come off judgmental or anything, they were there purely just to help out and make sure we had a good experience. Ammunition was reasonably priced, basically what you would pay when you go to Wal-Mart. They had targets, ear muffs, glasses, everything one would need for a day of shooting, all available right there. The range was clean and seemed to have enough lanes to accommodate everyone. Additionally we ended up buying handguns from them at another visit. Their employees are all no pressure, not pushy or anything. They had a pretty decent selection of guns including tactical, hunting, and pistols of all types. They helped us make a good informed decision, and even let us take a rental of the same gun and shoot it at no charge so we could make sure it was the right gun for us. Bottom line, if you are new to shooting and are not sure how to go about it, or if you are a seasoned veteran and you want a good range to go to, this is the right place to be. read more

I LOVE the review on here in which someone tries to take a jab at a salesman's knowledge of firearms, and then erroneously uses the term "clip" in place of "magazine". Get outta here. Anyway, I'm generally a fan of this range and store, at least more than their Peoria location. I got a great deal on a used firearm while there, transaction was painless and no one tried to sell me a bunch of accessories I didn't need - but they were more than happy to help me find those that I wanted. This is my go-to range, despite the fact that their Peoria location is closer, because at least here, they always have a range officer on duty and those officers are both attentive to safety violations and helpful to anyone asking for assistance or guidance. I do wish they'd upgrade their A/C in the lanes, but I've experienced worse and at least here, they have some degree of ventilation. The neighboring store connected to theirs is also a great place for anyone looking for duty uniforms and gear. Always a pleasure to stop by there. read more

I gave them 3 stars because I've been here before and it was better than this time but I wanted to give them a 1 star! It was HOT INSIDE! The thermostat by our rented lane/shooting stall said it 91° inside! It was 104° outside! It was too hot to truly enjoy yourself for more than an hour. I felt overcharged for the experience to sweat. We were dripping with sweat so much it was in our eyes while we were trying to aim! Probably won't go back! read more

The range is awesome but the staff isn't the friendliest, spent $98 today on my range time, 3 paper targets and 2 boxes of rounds. Yeah the rounds are a bit expensive as I can get 100 rounds from bulkammo.com for the price of one box here after shipping and handling but you are going to a shooting range so it's up to you to get cheaper rounds if you really don't want to spend $60 on 100 rounds. I've only been here twice and am always polite but I can understand why the staff is the way they are after overhearing and watching inexperienced people come in to shoot or buy a fire arm, the first time I came in, a lady pointed one of the rental firearms at one of the staff and got yelled at about it. I wouldn't bother looking for parts or mags as they aren't really stocked for anything except for common firearms and cleaning supplies. Over all I'll keep coming here for the range, I love it and know to look for ammo somewhere else if I have time! read more

I think that this place is awesome. Its in what seems like a rougher side of town (I wouldn't leave anything in the car in the parking lot). and they don't want you to draw from a holster on the range (though I heard that they were changing that). Otherwise I'm a fan! I took my CCW course here and it was professional, serious, and fun too. Great little indoor range with really good service. They don't clean their rental guns very well at all which doesn't make any sense to me since its kind of a safety issue but be warned and bring your own gun! So I came here two days ago on a date with my husband and I got attended by this really nice guy with blonde hair I forgot his name but he was really cool the day went really good and all. So we came today and everything was good in the beginning til this employee a short crooked teeth female gave me attitude as well as another employee he was all gloomy like he hates his damn job they gave me attitude I did not appreciate that at all it made me angry especially because they both just stared at me awkwardly because I told them I was going to take my rifle in my car and bring back their case and we were going to look at some guns but I just felt awkward vibe from them so I told my husband let's go cuz I just couldn't stand being there anymore. I have taken just about every pistol course offered there and each one has something unique and valuable to offer. The most recent one I attended was Defensive Pistol 2. This is the most I have ever learned in a single day of instruction. With three instructors and two assistants all of the students got immediate feedback and correction on their form and technique. The head instructor stated that it was about more than putting rounds down range, it was about learning new skills and that was certainly the case (for example, you learn how to clear any kind of malfunction, one and two-handed, with either hand!) Of course, there is only so much that can be taught in a one or two day class, and you will need to practice what you learn but these classes are very conscientiously structured to give you as many tools as possible to protect yourself in a deadly-force encounter. Many of the classes are worth taking more than once and I've met some three and four time veterans of the advanced ones. What's more is that more classes, like Defensive Pistol 3, are being developed and the Shooter's World staff continues to learn and build upon their own skill set from experts in various fields of firearms expertise and incorporate it into the course curricula. Another reason for the quality of the information and instruction is the earnest manner in which they solicit and encourage honest feedback on the courses and how to improve them. I'm pretty sure my 20% member discount on classes has covered my annual membership fee and I look forward to taking the new pistol course as well as the new classes for edged weapons. read more

I was going to travel from Tucson up to Phoenix and do some shooting in the area since I've been in the works of purchasing my first firearm and wanted to test out some models I've been eyeing. I had been to the Peoria location and had no issues. However, they don't allow rentals of their guns if you are alone but if you have your own then you are good to shoot solo. That's a weird rule and guess I won't be going there. I'll stick to the 2 firing ranges we have in Tucson. read more

Fun place to go. Decent Selection of Rifles and pistols. Only offer semi automatic rifles. The rifles have a 30 capacity magazine unlike gun ranges in California. The store is also a gun and gun accessories shop. The gun store offer more options than rental options. Prices are reasonable. Ammo and gun in here is similar priced to LA Gun Club. First off, I have to admit I've never purchased any weapons here, but I have infact purchased plenty of accessories, range time, and took my CCW course here. The employees have always been beyond helpful, almost seemingly bored and need something to do. They will shoot the shit with you all night if you let them. The range I actually like better than Gun Club or Caswell's. It's more managable than Gun Club, and a lot nicer than Caswell's. The range time is also very inexpensive. I once came here with my mom on a Friday night ladies night. She was able to rent a handgun and get range time complimentary, the whole night cost her only ammunition, and a sore arm... give a 56 year old woman a .40 XD and see what happens... lol. I'm giving this place two stars because of their bull crap "case your weapon" policy. Even if you are a CCW holder, they want you to unload and case your weapon. Let me ask you something... Is this to make sure that I don't rob the place? because if that were my intention, I'd ignore the sign anyway. Are they afraid I am going to try to clear the weapon in the store and accidentaly shoot someone? Then maybe make CCW holders exempt from the rule, as we are trained in proper weapons handling. I give it 4 stars if this rule were not in existence. Both Gun Club and Caswell's let you holster your weapon. read more

I have not been to this location in over 2 years. We used to be members and go every week. The staff at that time was great. The same friendly faces who were always helpful and got to know you are now gone. THe rifle ranges have even worse ventilation now than they did 2 years ago. Same with the AC. That stuff went out years ago and it hasn't been fixed. There were no range safety officers out on the range and it was ladies night (terrifying considering most are first timers there with trigger happy boyfriends that think they are playing COD, waving guns around and shooting the ceiling). My teen daughter was with us and I was concerned. She even made a huge mistake and no one was there to catch it, and it could have been potentially deadly. Another gentleman kept taking his gun from the back wall bench to the range lane over and over. No one stopped him. These mistakes can KILL someone! The ventilation was so bad the gunpowder was building up and making the area gray and hazy. Nothing like choking on gunpowder and lead. I will never go again. In fact I think I may report them because there is no way the rifle range is safe for breathing with that much fumes present. That along with 7 workers all working the front desk screwing around and ignoring rapid firing and range violations. If you care about your safety and those you love go elsewhere. Please. Shooting is fun and safe if done properly, but if it is not done properly it is dangerous. read more

Went there earlier today, a Tuesday, and it was a placed filled with friendly staff. Patrick explained everything thoroughly and made sure we had a safe and fun experience. I walked in there not knowing that there was a special discount on Tuesdays! It's $10 gun rental per person and the lane fee was either free or less than other days. Eye and ear gear are free for all every day which is different compared to other places. We had a total of two gun rentals, one lane, and 160 rounds of ammo for a total of ~$50. I will definitely be coming back on Tuesdays! read more

The financing department has decided to shut down, and the people at shooters world weren't even Courteous enough to contact me ahead of time to tell me after this after this is the SECOND 2 hr drive (one way) to pick up my gun I've put a deposit on. I've been the one contacting the Peoria office for updates, and I have been the one making sure everything is in order w paperwork. This sucks shooters world! After Friday when I FINALLY can pick up my gun because I have to pay cash I will NEVER do business with you again. I've been coming to you guys for years for the shooting range, and classes. I've been a member at Shooters World for awhile, as friends and colleagues have brought me here in the past. I think maybe in the past it used to be a better establishment, but I don't think I'll ever patron here again. Every time I go there are rule changes for what you can and cannot due, though they are not posted, so you get a tap on your shoulder by some smuck that desires authority in life. The range itself is okay, nothing special but its not the worst place either, and if you ever get bored shooting, the unhelpful staff is there to sell you overpriced crap. If you live close and don't mind dealing with the staff, go for it, for everyone else, there are much better places on the outskirts in the desert a little ways, where you can actually practice more skills than standing w/ a pre-drawn pistol and firing at a stationary target. read more

anyone that knows me know's that I'm not shy around guns, and lately I've been wanting to get back into the shooting hobby. since the economy is hurting and we just bought a house it couldn't come at a worse time. Fortunately full service ranges like shooters world offer affordable rentals. I rented a Sig Sauer P226 9x19mm parabellum. The gun performed amazingly 150 rounds downrange and only 1 malfunction which was easily cleared. I can't quite say the same for my Wife, she wasn't sure which handgun to rent, so I suggested she rent the Sig Sauer Mosquito chambered in 22LR, which I'd been considering purchasing myself as an inexpensive target shooter. she's not terribly versed with guns, but she's shot in the past in the desert and performed quite well despite inexperience, and did so as well tonight. Unfortunately the Mosquito has a bit of a strong recoil spring, and with all rentals per their policy require you to use their ammunition. unfortunately the 22LR rounds they offer don't seem to have quite enough kick to complete the cycle of ejecting the spent round and loading the next. Almost every other round I had to assist her in clearing the weapon. Failure to Feed, Failure to Eject, Double Feeds, Stovepipes, you name it. Luckily one of the friendly female range officers noticed her plight tried to assist, and when I showed her what was happening and offered to exchange the rental free of charge. After that she got a ruger mark II and had a fairly error free experience the rest of the time. The highlight of the outing was when my Father-in-law accidentally walked out of the shooting bay with his unloaded GSG5 rifle. and when one of the range officers noticed him and warned him. And then when he did it again and was asked to leave the range area by the range master.to be fair he was trying to teach his wife who had never shot a round in her life how to shoot, and may have been a bit distracted. Although I'm sure it was upsetting to him, after having been formally trained by law enforcement professionals in my brief law enforcement career several years ago. He violated safety protocols and rules set forth by the facility. I also got warned once when placing the unloaded, slide locked back P226 back into the rental bag, the bag was about 6 inches sticking out of the back of the shooting bay. I was warned but more politely reminded than a dressing down, and they merely recommended that in the future I bring the bag to the shooting bench for safety reasons. I know beyond a doubt that I can handle a firearm safely, but I have to understand the view of the range officer in that they don't know how versed or experienced you are so it's necessary to treat everyone as a novice to ensure a safe and fun shooting experience for everyone. though I could see it as being offputting to someone that doesn't realize why. All in all it was a very fun experience, the Sales staff was helpful in letting me see and handle a number of firearms when I arrived before the rest of my party. and the range was nice for a pistol range. It's also less than 2 miles from my workplace so I could definitely see stopping by here for an hour after a bad day. Oh and I almost forgot the clerk forgot somehow I didn't get charged for my rangetime and I still have 2 1 hour rangepasses, so I may be stopping by sooner than you think. I know it's not something to rate a business on, but I doubt it ever upsets the customer. read more

Great place to go shooting in Central Phoenix. The prices are pretty fair here and they have a fantastic gunsmith. I have shot here a few times and there is a ton of rental guns for trying out new weapons. Take your wife or daughter on Fridays and you can rent as many guns as you like for free and you shoot for free. When i needed a trigger job done to my XDM they gave me the best price to take care of it. Great customer service and very helpful. read more

I have been a member of Shooters World for three years now. I shoot here at a minimum of twice a week. I have spent thousands of dollars on firearms training and thousands more on guns and gun related accessories. I have shopped online and all around town and on most things you will pay more here than at Cabelas. Sometimes you find a deal and they pretty much have everything you need and more. Their firearm training is top notch! I have had private lessons as well as group classes with six to fifteen people in it. They have the most comprehensive training with the largest selection only second to Gunsite in northern Arizona. It is worth every penny and more! They have a large selection of handguns and handgun related accessories. If you need it they will have it, even if you don't need it they will have it. The rifle and shotgun selection is limited to tactical side. They do however have a large selection of accessories for them. The customer service in the Phoenix location is good to fair to all people that are not members or for members that are not well known by the staff that you are talking to. If you are a member and they know you are you will have a wonderful experience. The customer service in their new location in Peoria is great for everyone that comes through the door. I would recommend if you need to transfer a firearm use anyone but them. I have transferred four guns to the Phoenix location and had them transfer three guns to various dealers outside of Arizona. Every time it has been a nightmare; there is only one or two people that can accomplish this task and they always seem to be off or on vacation or just do not have the time of day to make it happen. Save your time and money and have some other FFL dealer make it happen for you. All around this is a great place to learn about anything firearms related. Most of the staff is well trained and have real life experience; law enforcement, military and civilian. Everyone that works at Shooters World is for the most part a shooter. Do not be afraid of asking questions. The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask. They feel the same way. The only staff member I would avoid is a tall (6'4") skinny older man with white/grey hair. This guy does not have a personality and does anything to avoid work; it will take more effort to talk to this guy. Do yourself a favor just find someone else to help you. read more

Yes, we shot our brains out. We tried 3 different guns and had fun with all of them. The people that work there are very knowledgeable willing to help which I appreciated since we are novice shooters. They also have a great selection of guns for sale as well as gear and equipment. Going to shoot for the first time can be a bit intimidating especially if you don't know what questions to ask. I have been shooting shotguns for a few years now and am just getting into hand guns. I don't know what I'm doing yet so I really like that they have every class you could want to learn what to do. Everything from CCW classes to how to fight in the dark. I'm new to the Phoenix area and this was my first, stand alone gun store that I checked out. (I had gone to Cabela's and a gun show at the fairgrounds.) I was immediately approached by a burly guy named Ken who was real easy to talk with and took the time to answer the many questions that I had about the Arizona gun laws, and in paticular, the CCW laws. Although I had done a little research on my own, I found some discrepancies in his interpretation of the laws. But this doesn't reflect the store, just one employee. The store is spacious and well laid out with a good selection of firearms and accessories. I did find the prices to be on par with what you might find online with some exceptions on clothing and holsters. If you need something right now, chances are they will have it. You might have to pay a little more for it, but not much. Plus, for that little extra cost, you get the touch/feel factor that you can't get with mail order. Well worth it. The indoor gun range seems well made and priced to similar ranges that I have been to. Although I did not use that facility, I will try it at a later date for sure. Bottom line: I don't have any other gun stores in Phoenix to compare it to, with the exception of Cabela's and a somewhat disappointing gun show. This was a positive experience and will at some point in time return to purchase equipment or to use their indoor range. read more

I live in Flagstaff and there are no indoor ranges and the outdoor range is seasonal. I came down to Phoenix to visit family, so I thought I would check out Shooter's World on the Friday Ladies Night. I arrived around 5pm and although it was busy, I didn't have to wait to be helped at the counter. I brought my own firearm, ammo, targets, eye and ear protection, so it was a quick an easy process getting on the range. The staff was courteous and helpful and you can't beat Ladies Night for the price! Free! I don't get to Phoenix often, but I plan on going back when I am in town to get some range time in. Although I would like to take advantage of going on Fridays, my experience was worth the $15/hr range fee any other day of the week, especially when it is difficult to get time on the range. I don't know if they charge in whole hour increments for range time, but 30 min would be a nice option as I think I went through 150 rounds in about 30 min. I don't know how often I could afford the ammo if I stayed a whole hour... read more
