Small place but well organized- for every style, you'd usually find 3-4 different sizes available. Very clean environment and use of alcohol spray required upon entrance. Bought a beautiful scarf for $10 and a nice soft sweater for $28. All scarves are on sale for $10 each - they are great for the video confidence calls (let you change your look or dress up a plain T with minimal effort)! Sadly, Sherman the resident kitty in charge passed away a couple of months ago, which has been hard on the owner. Please give her a little love right now as this is her livelihood. Shop-Ashiya which right across from Midori matcha is a small shop in Little Tokyo in LA that has some cute ladies and girls clothing and accessories. The shop is not fancy but the owner Kyoko was super helpful and nice. I stepped inside to browse and liked a few things so I bought them. I can never have enough black T-shirts, especially when they're super cute. Also bought some clothing is all linen and all cotton, to wear for the sunny hot weather In LALALAND. This small shop sells women's clothing, bags and scarves and other accessories - both vintage and new. Kiyoko, who is the owner, is always very nice and friendly to all her customers. She also has this adorable pet cat named Sherman who helps her watch over the store. :) Some of the accessories she said she made herself. Today, she had 50% off discount on fashion jewelry. I got this delicate and unique necklace with a ladle and spoon pendant and also a one-of-a-kind handpainted keychain (which she had given me additional 50% off!). Prices are very affordable as well. Such a great local find! All the clothes are very trendy and are great quality! I had to buy some RIGHT AWAY. Though the prices may be a bit pricey for some, I feel like the quality of the clothing and their trendy style are WORTH the price I've been wanting to visit this place but never had the confidence to do so until recently! Everything was so clean and the owner was sooooo kind. She never followed me around which I liked very much since I like to shop at my own pace. 5 days in la and I FINALLY stumbled upon what I was looking for just as I was preparing to leave!! This amazing little shop is in little Tokyo, tucked away from the main streets. I hadn't been planning on stopping by here but another little shop was closed each time I visited so I made my way here. The owner at ashiya was super friendly and helpful. The window displays got me in the door but the amazing selection kept me in. I could have easily walked out with more than 3 sweaters but lack of space in my luggage and carry on were reason enough to watch my wallet. If you're heading back north or to a wintry place like Denver, know that you're not walking away with Northface or super thick sweaters but you'll make a fashion statement when you get home!! read more

When ever My daughter and I decide to do the daddy and me thing in Little Tokyo,it seems like we usually find our selves in this quaint boutique. My daughter likes all the very unique designs that this shop has to offer. As she flips through the dresses and looks through the shirts and blouses, You can find me either petting the two cats that she has in her shop or talking to the owner. The owner is really one of the nicest people I've meet while shopping with my daughter. She is very friendly and helpful,always giving my daughter advise on clothing she could put together as an outfit. The two cats she has (Sherman the cinnamon colored cat and a black & white one whose name escapes me at the moment)come and go as they please. They are very friendly cats and always seem to find their way back after a cruise through the city. After the birthday Izakaya my sister and I decided we needed to work off all that sake and food with some shopping. As we headed towards the Kinokuniya bookstore we noticed a cute little boutique with a few cats hanging around by the door. (Looking back I think the cats are non-paid sales associates as you find one or the other rubbing on your legs as you are perusing the various tops and dresses and somehow their kitty magic works and you are buying clothes. Someone should give them a raise.) You know how it goes, you are just going to make a quick round, not intending to buy anything. Then, somehow, you find yourself walking out with a new t-shirt and half a mind to get back in there and buy a few more. Ashiya makes this a bit easier being that most of their t-shirts are 30-50% off and the ones that aren't on sale aren't even that expensive anyway. Come to find out if you hit their website they are in the same vein as Intuition, having the trend that celebs are wearing but the prices are much much better. I am docking one star because the boutique is small so what you get is quality v. quantity and by and large there is a good amount of quality. But then I noticed they had several touristy California t-shirts (and not the cute vintage kind) and it just seemed like a bit of an inventory cop-out to me. read more

One of my favorite shops! Every time I visit Little Tokyo I make sure to stop by to say hi to the owner of the shop. She's a sweet lady with amazing fashion sense! She knows so much about what celebrities are wearing or selling. She'll also give her honest opinion if you ask her about how something fits on you. Prices: The clothes are always reasonably priced. There's even a sale-section in the middle of the store. Jewelry, accessories, purses, scarves... you can get them all here! I always leave here buying multiple items because I love everything! I don't buy clothes as much as I used to, but if I do, then it's usually from here since I can get pretty unique pieces. Cats: Mr. Sherman and Boy. So cute! I've been coming to this shop for over 8 years on and off. I love the unique items they have and at way better prices than Hob Knob. The other stores that are selling some of these rare finds are charging way too much. Shop Ashiya has brands that are from local designers in Los Angeles such as The Moon Collection. They were many cute cat items and prices range from 20-40 give or take a few $. There are even some vintage and unique items that the shop owner has collected. My friend and were grabbin lunch and groceries in Little Tokyo when we came across this very ordinary looking clothing shop that really has a lot of great personality. We found rack after rack of cute and affordable clothes, though the sizes and quanity is very limited. As everyone else has already mentioned, the owner is very engaging, warm, and friendly. It's like being a little girl shopping in your cool Auntie's closet. She gives you tips, but isn't pushy, and will work with you on prices. This shop is so close to my heart on so many levels...the clothing sold inside is really unique, and while looking at first, it may appear a little conservative, a closer look reveals a lot of really nice, easy-to-coordinate designs that have all become staples of my regular wardrobe. I first wandered in here when my husband and I had just moved here from Japan, and first of all, CATS! Two, actually, Sherman and Boy. They even had T-shirts of them dressed in suits, which were sold out the last time I visited. The owner is a really amazing woman, who talked to us at length about settling here from Japan, and has always remembered and always been wonderful to us. Boy has gotten extremely fat in the last year since we've been there, and tends to hide, but if you're into shopping, nice people, and adorable cats, this is the place for you! Last time I was here, I bought a T-shirt with a Ray-Ban wearing cat shooting laser beams Godzilla-style, a really quirky dress shirt with electrified Micky Mouse print, and some lightning bolt earrings. There's a bigger selection than meets the eye, so take your time and look at all the items she has to offer! Larger sizes are also available, which is nice compared to some shops that only sell in teensy weensy Japanese sizes. read more

I got a mint and white color-block sleeveless top that came with a cute peter-pan collar shaped statement necklace for $35 (50% off)! They have purses, accessories, all kinds of stuff. I found this place a few weeks ago and the clothes here are super cute and fit perfectly if you have a petite figure. You cant really find clothes like theirs in any other store. The store was having a 50% sale for the entire store when I came in. They sell tops, dresses, and accessories. I didnt see too many bottoms being sold here. The shop owner is also very sweet. I love this adorable little store! It's located in the same plaza as Marukai. They have the cutest dresses. I usually have a hard time leaving the store without at least one item in my hand. They have other clothes and jewelry options as well. Their dresses generally range from $35 to higher but there's usually a sale section. I would say the quality is better than bigger chains like Forever 21 and the styles are quite adorable. I find dresses for both my personal and professional life. I bought two today! Very happy with my choices and the owner is really helpful. If you're a size small like me, it might be harder to find the size during summer seasons. The sweet owner says to come on Thursdays and Fridays because that's when she has new batches. She also has her cat roaming around the store. I'm not a cat person but hers was really chill/quiet. I thought it was funny when she asked him, "do you know how old you are? You're 100! Did you forget?" lol! Man! What a fricking wonderful surprise this shop was! We wandered out of nearby deliciousness Kouraku round 10 pm and strolled through that Onizuka Plaza courtyard. One doorway was shining bright white light like a lighthouse beckoning a lost ship. A small shop but they have the most massive resident cat in the WOOOOORRRRLLLD laying in there. They also have lots of really cutesy clothes and costume jewelry for excellent prices. It may not be something that lasts you twenty years, but that's probably a good thing. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem in downtown L.A.'s Little Tokyo. I was casually walking by looking for something to eat and saw a really pretty sweater outside this shop. Then I saw signs with 50% off on the glass and I decided to take a peek at what's inside the store. The store itself is small and tiny, but well organized. The style of clothing is adorable and has a vintage-like feel to them. Shop-Ashiya has just about everything from accessories to sweaters and jackets to skirts. I really enjoy shopping at vintage shops and boutiques since they have one-of-a-kind pieces that you can't find in major brand name stores. The prices are a tad on the high side, but I was able to score two adorable jackets for a total of $50. This was with a little discount that the owner decided to give me at the end. She is very nice and has the cutest cat ever! She told me that she usually marks down prices on the weekends, but today (Friday) she had them marked down. I almost don't want to write about this place because I love it so much. I wanted to be selfish and buy all the cute shirts, dresses, sweaters, belts, etc. and not share with y'all. But alas, I really like the owner and I want people to continue giving her shop some love. I've bought 5 different things from this small shop and have been complimented on every single item. I would say Kiyoko's (the owner) stuff are more on the conservative side so you won't find any clubbing dresses here. If you like the sweet, conservative, fun look...come here. She has a lot of vintage-inspired items. Did I mention that she DESIGNS all (or most) of the prints you see in her store?! BTW, Kiyoko is a sweet and friendly person who makes me feel welcomed each time I drop by. She was kind enough to teach me how to tie a proper bow for two of the dresses I bought from her. She is just a very pleasant person to talk to and she knows how to give you privacy and space as you wander around her shop. Every time I'm in Little Tokyo with a little time to spare, I pop in. I love the shop owner and her famous cute cat Sherman (he's gotten friendlier over the years). She is super into food and eats at Lazy Ox multiple times a week, like a boss, and loves to talk about new restaurants. Her selection covers cutesey Asian styles (kind of like what you'd find on yesstyle.com) - lots of cute casual dresses, airy tops and blouses, basics, and accessories. Every time I've come I've picked up a dress that I'll get lots of compliments on. The prices when things are on sale are totally reasonable; $20-40 for most things and I've only purchased things on sale here. read more

She own cats and have cat things lying around the store, which is a nice little touch and doesn't seem too out of the ordinary in this store. The clothing are girly, chic and on the conservative side. Clothing are a little pricey even when they do have a sale going on. Fabrics don't seem to be anything special. Whenever i visit Little Tokyo, I always past by the store but never went in. But one lunch break from my jury duty service, i went in and was so pleasantly surprise about the store. There were plenty of clothing options, from t-shirt casual to dressy dresses. The clothes are made by local designers, so once they are out of a size or style there aren't going to be anymore in the stock room. The owner is super sweet, nice and very friendly. She helps you pick stuff out and makes sure you take your time deciding. The store doesn't have much foot traffic, she does more business online selling clothes overseas. I've come here a handful of times after moving to DTLA and I have to sing this little shop's praises! The owner stocks beautiful dresses and blouses that are vintage inspired. I have found that the styles she carries are great for work as well as breezy weekend wear. There are often unique, colorful prints offered, as well as more classic neutrals and basics. The prices are not too high, and she frequently offers discounts as you are in there shopping. I've had a few items I've worn and washed multiple times over the past year or so, and have to say the quality is great, as there is no notable wear and tear on the clothes. Check it out!
