I had high hopes for this place because of the good reviews, but the girl said that the Louis Vuitton bags I brought there wasn't what she had in mind. I visited the store this past Saturday. I thought the selection was unique, definitely interesting and loved a few of their items. But their customer service was horrible. There were 2 associates behind the counter and all they did was talk smack about some girl and looking over photos on a laptop. I wasn't in there alone as there were also other customers but as each of them left, these girls never cared to greet them or even bother to say hi. Not even a what's up, hello or any type of salutation. Very poor customer service and form of selling. I take that back, they wouldn't be selling because no effort was made to communicate with guests. I thought the store was pretty well put together in appearance and display but if they're hoping to generate revenue for their business I suggest firing their current staff (or the two that were on shift that day) and just hiring a new employee that has more experience in retail. Just cause they dressed and looked the part, doesn't make up for their lack of service and positive attitude towards potential clientele. I seriously saw a cute set of earings, a clutch, a travelling duffel bag and crochet shorts. Ugh, I really wanted it, but I'm glad I made the choice not to purchase from them. I always give my recommendations after my review, so I would suggest you take your money and invest it in a business that will express some sort of concern for your purchase. I shopped at their Davis stuff yesterday after stumbling across it. It's a pretty cool store that's not too overwhelmed with items to the point you can't find anything. The store associate was nice but not overbearing while I shopped. (I'd rather have less attention so I can browse through products leisurely.) I bought an Anello backpack which I'm totally in love with. I was a little disappointed later to find cheaper versions on Amazon but I figured at least it supports local business (while hoping the amazon versions are fakes!) I love this place. Everyone is quite friendly but not over-the-top pushy like you sometimes see in boutique shops. I can't stand shopping when someone is constantly bringing clothes over to me with a "why don't you try this one". They're one of the more reasonably priced shops in midtown with a selection of cute, unique both new and used clothes, shoes and accessories. Shop Cuffs is one of my favorite places to shop in sac. From brands like UNIF to vintage low price finds, everything in the store is versatile. If you are a vintage lover they have some really unique items. If you have small feet, cuffs seems to always have smaller sizes (not sure regarding vintage). I was under the impression this was a vintage shop so I was slightly disappointed when browsing turned up mostly new items (yes, there is vintage, but it's in the back). The style of this shop is best summed up as a blend of bohemian/hipster/80's. Unfortunately, with my love of older vintage (40's-50's), I didn't find a ton. Also, the prices turned me off to a lot of the things I was interested in. Some things were pretty cheap: $15-20, but most of what I looked at was in the $40-60 range which I'm not willing to spend when buying second-hand unless it's an incredible find. I ended up buying a geometric space-age looking dress (probably from the '60's) for $28 which was actually my most expensive purchase in a day of vintage shopping in Sacramento. Overall, most things they have are cute and everything is clean and in good condition. It's always worth a look, especially if you're going to stop by Thunderhorse Vintage across the street too. read more

This is the second or third year I have pledged to SHOP LOCAL for my Christmas gifts... and Cuffs did not fail me! Another bonus: it carries women AND men's apparel and accessories. The items are locally designed (screen printing), vintage, or unlikely found in other boutiques... so I could shop for friends and find LOTS of things I'd buy for myself -- if I was being naughty! This place was really nice because all of the vintage stuff was carefully selected and displayed, the only bad part is that since the stuff is good, you aren't going to find a bargain. All of the clothes are fabulous, and the accessories are to die for too. I got a pair of shoes, a vintage overcoat, and some sunglasses on my last trip, and that was after I had put a bunch of other stuff back. Cuffs rocks! I recently found the most gorgeous vintage gold clutch for only $14! Every bead was still sewn on and it was in perfect shape. Plus, you can find great vintage tops and dresses and new pieces as well. They recently had a end of summer sale and I found a silverish dress for only $28...this dress looks just like a dress I had been looking for last winter but the price was so much better! I can't wait to wear it! The biggest problem I have with Cuffs is wanting to go into the store every week. While they have a decent men's selection, they're obviously much more geared toward women's wear and accessories.
