I have been a loyal customer of Shoppers Drug Mart for close to 50 years and have never complained about your service or practices, which are generally very good. On Jan 14, 2026 I had an extremely unpleasant experience the CF Richmond Centre store in BC. I bought 2 Oral B io series toothbrushes that were on sale, paid by debit card but almost immediately, realized that I should have paid for the toothbrushes by credit card. So I went to the back of the line and when I came up to the cashier, I asked that the purchase of the 2 toothbrushes be reversed so that I could pay for them by credit card. When I explained that I had made a mistake and wanted to pay by credit card instead of debit, the cashier first told me that I would lose all Optimum points associated with the initial purchase even if I were to buy back the same items immediately. She strongly discouraged me from changing mode of payment. She highlighted the points on the receipt to emphasize that those points were a "one time only" reward and would all be lost even if I were to buy the same items again. Then when she rung up the items for a second time, she stamped "Final Sale" on the receipt. I'm at a loss to understand her actions: Why would the same items paid for by credit suddenly become a final sale. I find it to be incredibly sharp practice for your cashier to take unfair advantage of a customer's mistake particularly when the mistake was discovered almost immediately. I was in Vancouver for one night, next day, I was boarding Alaskan cruise for the inner passage from Vancouver to Anchorage. I had a chronic problem right before I was scheduled to leave before I could get my prescription filled. I had to be on the plane or my flight. I arrived late afternoon and found out that the pharmacies if you have a chronic condition and you pass the interview by from the pharmacist, they will issue a prescription and fill it. The pharmacist I spoke with was intelligent articulate and interviewed me. I satisfied the guidelines for this service. She issued me the much needed drugs and gave me some advice. It was a wonderful experience. It solved my problem in two days and I enjoyed my trip. I also did some last-minute shopping in the store and it was a great experience. read more

SMD is one of the stores that still offers weekly discount on their flyers.. which is good. However, the prices update between the main system and the cashier wasn't very efficient! Such as customers got "overcharged" on sale items with original regular prices, at the cashier when checking out. The scan machine doesn't reflect the correct discount prices.. It happens a lot in the SMD stores. My own experience was I bought a pack (x 12) of Dole apple juice on sale for $5.99, but at cashier counter it showed $8.99. I wouldn't notice at all if not my gf got sharp eyes.... She also bought 2 Pantene shampoo (flyer price $3.77 each), but at the counter it disclosed $3.99 each... Naturally manual price check kicks in and lines behind me were form.... I understand mistakes do happen, somehow it seems to me a bit too often in the SMDs. Terrible experience. I was looking at three different locations for a specific product and finally I saw it on the ground in a plastic bag behind a desk. I asked the cashier and she told me to ask another worker. I was treated with the utmost disrespect and was made feel like a piece of scum. I will never be returning. Treat your customers better and lower your prices. Everything in here is at least 50 cents cheaper on amazon or at london drugs. Absolutely the worst experience. read more

I was pretty thirsty and wanted chilled coke that was already cooled in the fridge, so I came here looking to buy one. I easily found the selection of drinks in one giant fridge section called refreshments. It was in front of the checkout area. The drink selection was pretty large. They had a large variety of soft drinks, iced teas like Arizona and Lipton, vitamin water, some types of milk, and energy drinks. Unfortunately, because I came late in the evening, the good drinks that I really liked were sold out. Some of the drinks they sold were overpriced. No Frills and Dollarama's prices for chilled drinks are much better. There was a chilled 250mL bottle of diet coke on sale for $1.49 down from $2.29. It's a decent deal, so I got that. I browsed around the store a bit afterwards and noticed there were several security guards with security labeled jackets walking around. I guess this store has experienced high theft. The store is kinda messy because there were a lot of sealed cardboard boxes and pallets in the middle of the aisles left unopened, waiting to be stocked. Also saw misplaced items on the shelves. At the checkout area, they have a couple self checkout machines. There was no line in the regular checkout so I was able to purchase my drink right away. The staff here are pretty friendly and fast. No complaints with the service here. They have a Canada Post post office in the back area. Used it a couple times in the past years ago. Decent service there as well. I come here frequently to grab necessities when transferring between the bus and SkyTrain. Not having a car, all of my shopping is dependent on stores being close to transit. Can't exactly hike too far when you're carrying heavy bags of shopping. Although the chain started off as a drug store, they have since transitioned into a pseudo-convenience/grocery store. They even have a small selection of ready to eat items, which is nice if you need to grab a snack on your way to or from your destination. I do wish they had a microwave oven however, as some items need to be heated up. read more

I have to say this Shopper Drug Mart has everything. From milk to frozen items to the snacks and pharmacy items. Of course not meat and produce. This i a very clean and big shoppers. Lots of parking because its part of the mall. In front there are some parking as well (limited but I always manage to find a spot). This is also a very busy SDM. read more

For the entire mall of Richmond Centre, this Shoppers feels like the oldest store amongst everything in here. It maybe that yellow tinge once you walk in that makes you feel tired and zombie like, or it just might be that this Shopper needs a real facelift (been to any of the newer ones?) it just feels old. Just know if your in the mall, and you need some dried snacks, prescription drugs, lotto, bus passes (yes, this is what we actually came for!), toiletries, cosmetics, breath mints, diapers, smokes, condoms (yup, just turned this review into a +17) and the oddball electronic item, like an xbox or a ps3. This place is also opened a little later, and earlier than anything in the mall, since it's got it's own entranceway off No. 3 Road across from the Skytrain station. I really hope they do a reno (long overdo here!) and figure out the lineup situation, as I've seen many times there is a lineup building, yet only one cashier helping out trying to get every impatient person through. It's an odd Shoppers, but it's still a Shoppers in the end. read more

It was late, we were tired... Really tired. My wife wanted to go straight home, but I wanted something to snack on so I convinced her to go into this Shoppers Drug Mart. Boy! Talk about a mistake! I settled on a carton of cantaloupe, it seemed like a perfect late night snack and after picking up a couple of other things we went to the register to check out. After trying repeatedly to scan the bar code, they said it wasn't working and asked me to go get another package which I did. That package wouldn't scan either although the price was marked across the top of the box. By this time a line was starting to form behind me. The clerk calls for help, they still can't figure it out. I say can't you just enter it as miscellaneous and they say no, I say can't you just take my five dollars and figure it out later and they say no, that's not the way it works, and I say so then I'm not allowed to buy this? And they both give me a blank stare then they call the manager. The manager arrives and he seems at a loss as well, so after about 15 minutes he finally comes back up to the counter and says just enter it as open department, and the clerk says, that's what he told us to do, pointing at me. I was sorry I had come in, I was sorry I dragged my wife in with me, I was sorry for all the people who were inconvenienced, and I was amazed at the incompetence of the staff. Then, obviously I didn't want to put base the product (a box of chocolates) and asked for the person to take it away, but instead she took it and scanned the item. She continued to persistently try to force me into buying without the coupon, even though I said no and the coupon clearly stated it could be used at any Shoppers with the correct weight. This Shoppers is newly renovated and wow they have totally expanded the cosmetics section with higher-end cosmetic brands. I find that their clearance section is nowhere as good as all the other Shoppers and I'm guessing because of the Asian population where all the good deals are taken right away and this location probably has the highest volume in traffic? There is a post office and pharmacy located inside. Stock and deals are standard like any other Shoppers. It is always crowded in there plus the way lesser clearance items makes it probably my least favorite Shoppers. Don't forget to apply for a Shoppers Optimum card to collect points and earn cash back! Because it's so far deep south in Richmond, it's pretty quiet, even in a busy plaza with Safeway, Royal Bank, Petro Canada & Subway, just to name a few heavy hitters lol. Plus this one has a somewhat 'Food Section", mostly freezer stuff that the other Shoppers don't have, such as ice cream, tv dinners, ice cream, and more ice cream. Today, I went to Shopper's Drugmart at Dakota in St. Vital. I went in Monday, March 11, 2019. I asked if I can use a purchase voucher from the Manitoba government for foods and other personal items amounting $50. After confirming that I can use my voucher, she talked down to me in a condescending and presumptuous manner which made me uncomfortable. She asked if I was going to spend everthing on make up today, like it was not part of personal care? I plan to buy food and other stuff and rubbing alcohol. Why does she have to ask what I am going to buy like I have done something wrong? I felt treated like a criminal with her manner and attitude. I have been to your store before and this is not the first time I have felt unwelcome in this Shoppers Drug Mart Branch. Yes I used to buy cosmetics but that is NOT everything I buy in your store. Why does your staff have to judge people and presume their spending habits? I don't have to explain that to people and I have the right to buy your products. Please have this staff undergo good manners, multi-culturalism sensitivity as this is NOT an acceptable way to treat loyal customers. Very nice location, completed renovations earlier this year and the store is very clean inside. I come here almost daily because of their points card program. Download their mobile app and get a points card, with all their points events you can hoard thousands of bonus points and redeem them for free groceries. I also really like how there are daily sales. I have visited this store only 2 times. Never very impressed. It is a bit on the messy side and a little sloppy. The line to check out is always very long. I don't know why that is they have 3 cashiers. I guess it is very popular. It is inside the mall. I don't really go here for anything other than their pharmacy and occasionally the post office. The post office line is kind of annoying, but it is what it is, as most post offices tend to have a bit of a wait anyways. The pharmacy, however, is absolutely flawless. Their service is unparalleled in my experience. Not once have they badgered me about non-prescription items that you have to get over-the-counter from them (such as needles, syringes, insulin, certain vitamins). I came here when I am visiting some friends in Richmond to pick up some cough candy and my bus pass, however, every time I go in there is a grumpy old lady working there who seems to have a chip on her shoulder and that every customer that comes in line is inconveniencing her. I haven't been here since before the renovations. The store is bigger and looks great, but that's where it ends. Considering how busy this location is you would think there would be more than 2 cashiers open and they would be pretty fast...nope. There were three people in line ahead of me, and it took 15 minutes to ring them in. Two of these customers had issues with the price of their items, said that's not what the labelled price indicated and insisted they were being overcharged. Ugh. As the line grew so did the impatience of the woman standing behind me. Pushing her basket into my heels, I kicked it back to her. The line isn't going to go any faster by pushing other people. Well as you can see the customers are the same type of people that shopped here over a year ago and despite being pretty, this is still my least favourite SDM. read more

I like the Beauty Boutique in there. I wish they carried Clinique at this location. It's not convenient that the various Shoppers locations carry a different assortment of brands (I mean for their Beauty Boutique). I frequent this SDM as it's the closest one to my house. The store itself is great - plenty of items to shop from and most of the staffs are very friendly. The only part I didn't like about this SDM is their pharmacy. I've been there for consultation, and today's experience was terrible. There was no one at the stalls when I arrived, so I waited patiently for one of the staffs to help me. It was a few minutes into my wait when another customer came to the pick-up stall and someone immediately greeted her. I understand that the staffs may want to help prescription drop-offs and pick-ups first, but after they are finished with the customers they didn't bother checking the consultation stall at all and left me waiting for a long, long time. The worst part was when the consultation was done, I had to pay for my medication at the pick-up stall instead of where I was at. There was already a customer standing by the stall and the pharmacist did not ask the customer to remain a respectful distance, and was literally talking to the both of us at the same time about MY prescription. At that point I really felt my privacy was invaded and it was truly a horrible feeling. read more
