I came here yesterday to grab some quick items and had a mixed experience. The store itself is massive with lots of products and variety. I had been looking for the Marist IPA limited edition beer and finally found it here which was huge. I think what deterred me overall was that the cashier was pressuring me for cash tips which put me in an awkward situation. I'm not going to address prices in this review. This was an online order and delivery to my home. Although there's an extra fee plus appropriate tip for utilizing the deliver to home service, at the present time, I'm not able to do the heavy lifting. I find the service worth it. Robert delivered my order on time, with a smile and efficiently. The food items were separated logically which I believe was the responsibility of the Shop at home staff,Krystyna. Items were sorted appropriately with perishables separate from non-perishables. Nothing was crushed and everything arrived in good condition. My only complaint was that I especially requested that the bulk water be delivered in the original boxes, but they were placed in bags which held only two per bag. I use to love shopping here. However in the past 3 months, their produce has got very bad. Especially their green leaf lettuce, escarole, parsley and cilantro. They are so wilted that they should't even be on the shelf for sale. They have sunk to the standard of Acme's. How did this store go so downhill? Even more recently they have rearrange the aisles and made it impossible to find the items you are shopping for. Really bad management and no interest for food quality for their neighbors. read more

Now that I have, for the most part mastered the online ordering process, I am very happy with ShopRite Poughkeepsie.. Rember to just put in an acceptable sub, click on your digital coupons, leave a note for the shopper (I can verify that they do read them in the deli). I have had issues in the past that the employees (Chris or Derrick, and a few others whose names I forget) were able to adjust/fix over the phone. They all were professional and pleasant enough. The only time I have had an issue is when items that I needed weren't in the order and I needed to make the return trip. Yikes, I hate that. The online pickup is free , mistakes are rare, and we are all human. I am impressed by the people working in Poughkeepsie. read more

I used to love this store but it has turn to be the worst of it's kind in the area. Nothing is good about it anymore bad service bad food and bad ambience. I know Walmart is not that good but I find it to 10 time better than this ShopRite. And the same goes for the Fishkill, NY ShopRite. This store in Poughkeepsie is larger than most supermarkets. There is a fish and seafood section has a larger selection than other places. The frozen food Dept is mind boggling. The Deli is also impressive. You come in with a list, but when you start seeing new items and products you haven't seen in a while, you're bound to buy more than you expected. Super disappointed in this location. I have a terrible cold and wanted to order food on Saturday, November 19, 2022. I went through the whole process of signing up, then I went through the whole shopping list figuring out what I wanted delivered. It wasn't until I got to the last steps of the order roughly 45 minutes later that I found out there were no delivery times available for the rest of the day; thus, it could not be delivered until the next day. It's very disappointing especially when you're sick and you need soup desperately. So then I spent another 35-40 minutes signing up with Instacart, who ended up being phenomenal. I picked my delivery time before picking items to be delivered. They do something like "live communication," meaning that if they can't find your first choice, they reach out to you so you can pick a second choice. I was very impressed with them. This is a great service and the first two weeks are free. read more

I placed an online order with the location-which was my first mistake. I should've stuck with the winslow gate! Now I understand everywhere is understaffed so I'm pretty easy-going. I spoke to Derrick in onlien shopping because I received an email that was saying some of my items were unavailable. I have no problems at all with substitutions. There were several items that were no substitutions available supposedly and I had to pay the full prices on many things because they didn't take the time to go around to the shelves and put something else in so I didn't get the sales I should've. Derrick again promised he would go and get stuff to satisfy the coupons so I didn't have to pay the full price. He never got the stuff needed and then when it came time to pick up my order, we waited over a half hour just to get a spot to pull into to text the phone number then to sit for what is going on an hour now and we still haven't received our food. I promise I will never shop at this location again. The service is horrible and their online shoppers lie. read more

This update to my original review reflects my first experience with their online shopping service. I found the up-front part, such as setup and ordering, to be very easy to use, and the pick-up/delivery options to be reasonable. For first-time users, their website has an instructional video that is very helpful. It of course helps to already have a Price Plus card. I like that you specify your credit card number on their secure site in advance, so you don't have to interact with someone at the store. About 90 minutes before my order was ready for pick-up, I received an email confirming the cost, and I was able to review online what I actually got versus what I requested. This store offers both delivery and on site pickup, which you request in advance. It is VERY difficult to find delivery slots, so if you absolutely need one, request in advance. I was able to schedule an on-site pickup for 2-3 days after I placed my order. The door for online order goods is at the south end of the store, closest to Christmas Tree Shops. They have 5 spots in the parking lot designated for pick-up. Each has a sign with a unique phone number, to which you text your last name, and voila, someone comes out with your order. Because the parking lot gently slopes down, they are able to let go of the cart about 1.5-2 lengths away from you so that it gently rolls to you, so that you can load your car (Shop Rite rules do not permit employees access to your car, so you must load it yourself). After that, let the cart go. It will roll over to the edge, and they will recover the cart later. So no interaction other than "Hello" and "Thank you," from a reasonable distance away. The online selection is of course more limited than what you can get in the store, and during times of product shortages, you may want to add some redundancy to your order, so that if something you want isn't available, you might get a backup product. You don't have the option of being contacted to ask for alternatives in the process. You might also want to consolidate your orders into big ones, as there is a $9.99 fee, even for pick-up. Overall, even though I did not get about 30% of the items I ordered this time (specialized food products), I was satisfied with the process enough to continue to use it. I'm hoping that when they complete the new Shop Rite near Marist college, they will have an even better process set up as they build the store. read more

Shop Rite In Poughkeepsie, New York (Poor Management) I started shopping in this store a couple of months back, the staff was always friendly and helpful, the assistant manager I think his name is Tom, he's a nice guy. In-fact, I thought he was the General Manager because he was very involved with helping customers and very friendly, he had a professional appearance. Please continue reading and allow me to share our experience in this Poughkeepsie store. Then, Coronavirus hit New York State, but, not in upstate New York where we live, and, we all have to wear masks and plastic gloves to go food shopping. Saturday, April 4, 2020, I arrived at Shoprite in Poughkeepsie, and a picked up a sale flyer as I entered the store they were all in the rack as they always are, it was one piece of paper. I saw the Maxwell House coffee was on sale for $1.99 each and I can buy a limit of 4. So, I put 4 in my shopping cart! I walked up and down the aisles and picked up a few items. I was exhausted by the time I was done. My husband and I, went to self checkout, as we always do. There was a confrontation at the service desk a customer was returning a product that was bad, and the general manager Chris McCarthy and his service lady were nasty and refused to accept the black man's returns or give him a refund for his return. The manager said we're not taking any returns because of the Coronavirus. (More Nasty Excuses) What does Coronavirus have to do with selling customers bad meat, fish, and produce that isn't fresh? Give the man his money back! That's how customers should be treated. This manager Chris McCarthy acts like a "smuck" and he talks like one too. I thought they should have gave the customer a credit at the very least. People aren't working and if they buy fish or produce that is bad, which in that store I have personally gotten bad seafood, chop meat turned brown the next day after I bought it, and the fruit was rotten, seafood, muscles were broken and opened, it's happened quite a few times and I brought it back and got credit. Now, the store isn't giving credit for the bad stuff they sell us. That's not right taking advantage of your customers during a pandemic. Give the customer the respect they deserve. read more

I have been going to this ShopRite for years, and have also been using the Shop from Home service for almost 2 years now. I couldn't disagree more vehemently with a previous 1 star review. This store always has fabulous deals, very competitive prices, and a wide selection of products, many of which you won't find elsewhere (like muffuletta olive spread in NY!!). The deli dept. Is not a joke as a previous poster said. Produce is of good quality, they have a great bakery, sushi section, and awesome Hudson Valley products section by produce. High quality meats and cheeses.... and very unique and convenient products for a grocery store (tonight they had carpet runners, glassware, and sweatshirts). Also, the vast majority of Shoprite employees are very sweet and pleasant. Unless it's an hour or so from closing time, there are many check-out aisles open. You can load your Shoprite card with lots of coupons on their website. Speaking of the website, ordering from home is incredibly convenient and useful to search the ongoing extensive sales they have. I've been to some surprising ShopRites in the last few years. But nothing could have unwillingly sent me into this one. When I came with an Uber ride to a place nearby (in the same plaza) and knew I needed something to drink for my (ride back to home), I stopped in - hoping I'd find water. However, after zipping around the maze-like atmosphere of this store's produce section, I knew already I had to find what I needed quickly and get out. I zipped around and headed into the drinks and snacks aisle in a nearby aisle, and although I found drinks (not including the water I was targeting at first), I did find the set of 6 apple juices I had targeted days before at another nearby store (Motts). And when I came upon the small snack-items, my eyes fixated on the Raisinets and so I had to buy a pack of those too. However, what made it not so cool was my experience checking out. At first, the machine couldn't find any of the phone numbers I supplied for their PricePlus card we have - I tried just about all numbers I remembered (including a now-extinct home phone phone-number: recognizing that my grandmother has a card with that number attached), but no matter what number I tried, none could be found. But it goes farther than that. When I went to go pay with my debit card, the first set of swipe was rejected (not too sure). My online banking says (I checked it on my phone at the registers, which I used the self-checkouts for) it went through then was reversed by the store. I tried paying again, and this time it went through - not sure what happened and what caused that glitch. I know it occasionally happens, but it was all-out weird to have happened here at this rate. I'm all-out boycotting the purchase of brown paper bags, and until stores give paper bags for free, I will continue to boycott and not purchase any bags. I didn't feel I needed them for a package of 6 8-ounce apple juices and a pack of Raisinets, I waited for the receipt, and although at first, I couldn't find the receipt, I found it after taking a step back. I found this store to be lacking a little bit. It's older, but not a wiser store. It's got features that once held ShopRite to higher standards years ago, and this location seems to not be upgrading to newer standards - even the older sign over the front door is showing age - although by no means is it falling apart (it's just old and so many other ShopRites no longer use this icon). Also, before I forget: Why are you keeping people's groceries for the at-home service out near the registers? Funny seeing the differences between the Kingston location's ShopRite At Home and this location at the Poughkeepsie ShopRite At-Home and contrasting them. For larger shopping, we switched to Hopewell Junction ShopRite- much less crowded and easier shopping for the same prices. Will use Poughkeepsie store for quick check out only. Better than the location in Newburgh. I can in to grab something quick for dinner. The store was not crowded at all. Everything was very neat. The pre made food was set up nicer than the location in Newburgh. I bought a turkey Swiss wrap. It was $4.99. In my opinion it was worth the price. It was wrapped in parchman paper and in a clear see through container. It was super fresh not soggy or watery at all. I would 100% come back here to get another sandwich. read more

This review is about the florist, Debbie. My brother was getting married and we were hurriedly looking around for florists in the area that were reasonably priced but would do a good job too. We called around a few places but most wouldn't even quote us stating they were already booked and could not accommodate us or their prices were too exorbitant. I found Debbie by chance and she quoted me VERY reasonably and even sent me photos of her previous jobs. Debbie is a professional florist that does great work. We got exactly what we asked for at 1/3 of the cost. The arrangements, bouquets, everything were so beautiful. She had them boxed up and ready for transport. This place gets worse every time I shop there. The deli dept is a joke, long waits, slowest service on earth, customers stacked deep. They have clerks purposely ignoring customers to give preference to the shop at home service, I won't use that because I want to see and pick what I am paying for. The front end is a mess, tonight there were 5 registers open, many more closed. Each with a line long enough to block the entire front end of the store. The manager watched as the train wreck grew worse, simply saying "they won't give us enough hours to run properly". I am going to try Adam's, I can not stand another trip to Shop Rite. Went to ShopRite on South Rd., Poughkeepsie today to pick up a few items for the week and $275 later they refused to take a coupon for $1.50... I requested to speak to the Store Manager and three people later they finally paged him on his walkie-talkie. They told him about the coupon and his response was "nothing I can do". He then persisted to ask "do I have to walk up to the front of the store"... If this is the kind of customer service they have I think it's time for me to look for a different place to shop. No manager should have to ask someone who is in a position under them whether or not they need to come and deal with a situation, the answer is a given. Just as an example, my year to date savings in that store is over $1700 so you can imagine how much money I've spent there. It is very disgusting when you can treat your patrons and customers that way. read more

The store is moving toward more self-checkout stalls. Its obvious they are forcing customers to use this service so they can hire less cashiers. On Saturday there was a line at the self-checkout and only 3 or 4 registers open. I did not see an express line. Today, as soon as I place my bag down on the shelf, I hit the start button instead of the "bring your own bag" button. The machine registered it as an "illegal" item. The girl comes over and looks in my bag. So I'm a thief? I was at the self-check right in front of her. I'm a senior citizen. I'm not a thief. She even knew why the machine rang the alarm. But this young automaton is worried about someone robbing a grocery item, when she's helping to kill off jobs. This is the only store I use the self-checkout because I'm fast at it. Target is doing the same thing, and I refuse to use their self-checkouts. So Shop Rite wants us to check out our own groceries and we're supposed to be subject to accusations of petty theft? I complained to the manager, but he made excuses and after I was walking away, gave a weak apology. The workers in this store are not always courteous, but customer service across the board is getting pretty bad. read more

This store's deli department has terrible customer service. The counter people blow through numbers while never updating the red LED number counter. They are all snotty and uncaring in their customer service and treated my wife rudely. At the very least, do not use their delicatessen for any of your cold cut orders! read more
