I am a white male (71 years old) living in my own home in Northeast Seattle, not far from a Goodwill store. I arrived in the U.S. from Europe 35 years ago. After 33 years of work, I retired. I rarely visit Goodwill--probably about once every one or two months, usually on Sundays. I buy my clothes and shoes at Costco or on Amazon, where they are actually even cheaper than at Goodwill. Due to my former profession, I suffer from arthritis in both hands; both of my thumbs are quite painful. I find it easier to shop using a handheld basket rather than a shopping cart. Goodwill, however, does not provide handheld baskets--only carts. Whenever I went to Goodwill, I would typically bring along a small plastic bag to hold the items I intended to purchase, and I always paid for everything at the checkout counter. (At Costco, I usually shop with my wife, who pushes the cart.) This had been my routine for the past two years, ever since the arthritis developed in my fingers and I never encountered any issues with it until a new security guard appeared at this particular Goodwill store, a short Black man (who appeared to be an immigrant from North Africa). He noticed the plastic bag I was carrying and summoned the store manager. (This took place around late December 2025, on a Monday.) I do not know what the security guard said to the manager, but the manager approached me, I was in the electronics section at the time and looked inside my plastic bag, which contained two items, each priced at $1.99. The manager (a tall white man) removed the two items from the bag and instructed me to leave the store. I was baffled as to why; he did not accuse me of shoplifting, he simply told me to leave the premises and not to return to this Goodwill store for a period of one year. He offered no explanation for his actions. I certainly do not look like a homeless person; in fact, my clothing was visibly nicer than the manager's own attire. I suspect the security guard probably told him that I was a thief, even though he had absolutely no grounds to do so. I visited this Goodwill a second time six months later--on Sunday, May 17th. I didn't have a plastic bag; I was simply holding three small items in my hands and got in line at the checkout to pay for my purchases. That same security guard spotted me and demanded that I leave the store. I asked, "Why?" He replied that I was a thief and was not allowed to come there. I had been inside Goodwill for about an hour, and he hadn't stopped me when I first entered. I told him that I was standing in line and intended to buy the items I was holding. He made a phone call, brought over a store employee, and instructed all the cashiers not to serve me. In front of everyone, he began accusing me of shoplifting. Never in my entire life have I been insulted or humiliated like this. I took out my wallet and showed him my driver's license, Medicare card, cash, and several credit cards; I swore--more than ten times--that I had never stolen anything in my life. Yet the security guard continued to insist that I was a thief and demanded that I leave the store. As I was leaving, I asked the security guard to tell me his name. He refused and said that he had taken a picture of my license plate number. I am seeking a response from the Goodwill administration regarding the wrongful actions and insults committed by their security guard. read more

I was just in this Goodwill and I can't believe that a used bicycle is $70. The bike wasn't even gently used and the mark up for used is astronomical. I totally understand people donate to goodwill and I used to also. To pay 20 percent less than retail, is absurd. I saw shoes for $29 and shirts for $14. You can buy these items new at Ross. The sad part is that most of the "nicer" fashion focus stuff is online. I've shopped at crossroad and the old buffalo exchange. Their selection and price point is way better. I also understand that Goodwill provides worker retraining but I've had staff that are just rude. Where is the money going? I understand inflation, but these high prices are making it hard for folx that can't afford $70 for a bike to shop. Just my reflection. read more

A little better experience this time. The place is always busy as I mentioned in my check-in, they do have a tight to very limited selection of 2x clothing which I need at reasonable prices mostly jackets shorts not too many shirts in the two extra large range. Utensils and kitchenware and hardware tends to be overpriced. But again think of it as a donation instead of just buying something which I have learned to do. You're helping others and originally I thought selfishly just about the price but this is a good place to go when you can't afford new stuff and you might find something that you had 20 years ago but you missed. They have a very big selection of used radio and electronic equipment including some older TVs so it's like a throwback. Book selection is pretty limited but very good prices on those I picked a history of art book up about 1500 pages it was only four bucks the tie cost more than the book and that was seven bucks so it's a little bit unpredictable with the prices but again it's a pretty good deal. It appears that veterans Day discounts are on Wednesday I missed it by one day but I got what I needed today. Have fun and happy shopping read more

After staying away for a bit of time I decided to try this Goodwill again. I met a sweet lady (customer) that mentioned that a pot with lid was so expensive (19.00). She said she would wait and hopefully it would still be there when the color sticker was on sale. Since I was only there to be around people I told her I would buy it for her. When we went up to the clerk, the customer mentioned to her that there were some chips and the inside was stained. Perhaps she could have a discount. The clerk, manager said no because that pot was worth 100.00 new. Clearly not, so told the lady that I would pay the 19.00 and to give the customer the receipt in case she would like to return it. It was not the 19.00 that upset me, it was the lie and arrogance. My gain is having a new friend . Sorry for the long review but you need to know. read more

I am an avid thrifter and this is a staple store for me. That said however it feels like the selection here and the ability to find gems has gone down hill. Part of that is due to pricing which has skyrocketed in some cases. Shout out to the staff who are friendly. read more

I have been in this store a couple times today I went in seen a jacket for 14.99 so I decided to get I had my daughter in the cart so she must have accidentally tore the tag off. the cashier called the manager and she was like 39.99. I was like Nevermind the tag that was on there was 14.99. then she tells me its north face. I'm like yeah I know. it already seemed like they where following my fiancé. its not even about the price it's the fact the asian lady said it like I was a peasant. I also left my phone in there by accident thanks to the cashier and I must have said thanks a little to low and she didn't hear me. then she goes thank you so I said thank you again. Rude people!! Goodwill in Shoreline should be ashamed of themselves. I thought they were some non profit. Don't they get almost everything from donated items. One of the employees "Bea" didn't even greet me when I walked up and immediately told me to move my mask farther up my nose (my nose was covered). I didn't realize employees there also had it in their job description to correct the way a mask is worn. If I could give the customer service at this location no stars that is definitely something I would do. I came in with no intention to purchase anything but found a few things I needed at a reasonable price so why not. I traveled about 1hr 1/2 away because I was told this location had some good finds they were right great finds but customer service definitely lacked professionalism and respect. A rep name Jonathan was assisting me during my check out and before checking out he asked if I wanted to donate .50 for charity which I kindly declined. It wasn't there to where I felt disrespected it was when he said "it's just .50 cents" that wasn't just disrespectful but questioning my decision made it even worse. Something like that should never be said to a customer and should be kept at a professional level and keep it moving. Hopefully Mr.Jonathan can go into customer service training since goodwill offers an 8 week customer service training program I think he would definitely benefit from and be able to grow with his future career path. read more

I don't know why this Goodwill has only 3.5 stars. I LOVE this Goodwill. And I drive out of my way to come to this one because I tried the U District, Ballard, and Federal Way locations for some Halloween/seasonal goods. I am one of those people who will buy way more than they came to the store for and I have come to this location about 5 times in the last month. I have happily left with way more than I needed because there are always such good finds! I have found great NEW stuff for our bathroom (bath mat, jewelry organizer, and shower curtain). I have gotten some random things for Halloween (clothes for costumes, a new unused spooky drink making set, and a candy bowl). There is an abundance of kitchen stuff I've gotten from here (knife block, reusable silicone food covers, set of glass bowls, mugs, etc.). Every time I have checked out the employees have been incredibly friendly and conversational. My unnecessary shopping habits and I will continue to return to this Goodwill location! read more

Yeah. Decided I don't need to go here anymore. Parking lot sucks. Store is a mess inside. Ridiculous prices on items. (Travel size can of used shave gel for $2.99. Price should be $.50 tops) Stinky bum in book section. Which is also a huge mess. Poor labeling. Shelves squished together. The workers don't wear any identifying uniform or badges and they walk through the store like zombies. And to top it all off when you check out they ask you if you want to round up your purchase. I even dislike this place so much I'm not going to donate items to them and instead will find a Children's Hospital or Seattle Cancer thrift store to donate my items to. Buh bye Goodwill. read more

Still love this Goodwill store because I can usually find some great stuff here. I think many people think everything at the store is used, but they actually have some new stuff here too like socks, hats, crafts, etc. The majority of the items for sale are used, yes, but if you look close enough, you'll be able to find some great gems. I had stopped going for a while because it had gotten so sloppy, dirty, disorganized. However, I just went (August 2022) and it has vastly improved! Shameful you can't give a place zero stars. I get it's a minimum wage job. However, when people come to drop off belongings and are polite and helpful, couldn't they train staff to be the same? Absolutely worst experience with any service organization like this ever. And, I'm a fan of these stores, shopping for bargains on occasion. If you tell me one minute you are taking a piece of furniture, no problem, and the next person who comes out says no....can you get it straight? Attitude and the way you speak to folks is everything. New 25,000 square foot Goodwill! this is the second largest in Seattle. the store has all the normal departments and a few more including a fashion-forward section and a children's book section. They even have some new items mixed in here and there. Goodwill is a great place to get some clothing and housewares at next to nothing prices. What's so great about Goodwill? all the stores sales are used to provide free classes at the stores job training center! helping people learn English, and find jobs. read more

I love this Gee Dub! I sort of feel that Goodwill is like a treasure hunt. Sometimes you strike gold, and other times you find nothing. That's what I love about thropping here. The store is very well-lit, clean, and the staff is very friendly. Some of my finds have been a solid oak claw-foot table, a plushy double-breasted coat from the 60's in brand new condition, and a cool print by Lionel Barrymore. There are many other things I've found, but they are too numerous to list. We are generally impressed with the toy selection. My son has found some wonderful Nerf guns for a very reasonable price, as well as a few stuffed animals and board games. I don't base my stars on what they have in stock at any given time, but how my overall experience is. I always find friendly, helpful staff who also know to give a person space while safari bargain hunting. Also, is there anything more fun than trying on goofy hats, wigs, or dare I say even lampshades? read more

I came here this morning to pick up some Halloween items. I am so impressed with how they are taking COVID-19 precautions. They have sanitizing stations, the store is VERY clean and the items are well displayed-nothing was cluttered or hard to access. I didn't have to touch any items except the ones I came to purchase. They have sneeze guards at the check outs, and every employee was masked. Thank you Goodwill for helping keep the holiday spirit, ESPECIALLY in 2020. Really appreciate you all. This is where I typically donate items because it's fairly convenient to where I live, and it's fun to go inside and check out what's for sale--the store is big and has a large selection of housewares. However, the prices are fairly high for some reason--used picture frames for $8 and used coffee mugs for $4? I could get cheaper, brand new items for less at TJ Maxx or Ross. So, the cost of shopping here makes it tough to be eco-conscious and buy previously-owned instead of new. I have found and purchased some fun things here, but I don't feel like I'm getting a bargain. And it's always busy, regardless of the day of the week or time of day--available parking in their lot is hard to come by, and the aisles are always full of people. I'm glad that their business is booming, but it's definitely not a relaxing place to wander and discover treasures! read more

OMG are you kidding me? I got my husband a Faconnable shirt here for $5! They usually sell for like $100-150 at Nordstrom. For me - a nearly brand new Steve Madden brown leather-ish mini purse for $10, which I plan to use as a bike handlebar bag. And a candy bar to replenish my blood sugar after walking around the store in a daze for an hour. Left on the wall because they didn't fit - a pair of Vince Camuto cage sandals. $13. That's right, people. There was a ton of name brand stuff, and the store was full of goodies all around. My new favorite Goodwill, beating out Ballard by just a smidge, because the Shoreline location is bigger and (at least the day I was there) easier to maneuver around in. Like the other Goodwills in the area, this one also has a selection of dollar store-ish new items. There also seemed to be a section of donated items that were new with tags (although this section was not marked as such). Why have I never been here before? Didn't know it existed. It's beyond me why they turn away FREE STUFF that they can put out on the floor and try to sell. Instead, they use their own judgment (which usually sucks)... One of my favorite Goodwill stores in Seattle! (Or, well, just slightly outside Seattle.) Some stores are better than others if you're looking for specific things, and this store has frequently come through for me with inexpensive, cute dresses. They also have a large housewares/kitchen section that frequently has fancy china sets and teapots. The front of the store usually has a seasonal area with a combination of used and new items, mainly decor and accessories, but also lots of costume accessories, wigs, and makeup during Halloween. The Shoreline store seems to either get replenished frequently, or it's far enough away from Capitol Hill that it doesn't get picked over by hipsters as fast. It's definitely a popular location, though, and gets busy on weekends. If you've got a car, strike out to Shoreline and give this one a try! read more

I went here to go drop a few things off, some jerk pulls out of the parking lot in front of me with out even stopping and I almost hit him but I was driving slow because of the things I was going to drop off. I pull up to the area and there are 4 staff members standing around. Two of them tell me to follow their orders because unloading two cars is to much for the people that are there. Just a common goodwill. Lots of selection and lots of merchandise. Usually find a thing or two that I'd need. Nothing crazy cool here, but it's always a solid thrifting option. The donation line is a one-way street starting the north side behind the building and exiting on 145th! So be careful when you're donating :) read more
