Four fitting rooms -not managed by staff, you have to knock to know if in use. Lots of options attire wise. Three full round racks of jeans (that's what I was looking for) plus some on the end of a few square racks. Sizes aren't easily identified so you have go through them all to find what you want. At a glance around, the racks are labeled and things are color coded. Staff wasn't overly friendly, but perhaps they were tired as it's the day before a holiday. Overall a successful trip and will return if I need a cheap item! The jeans I got were $6.61! Yay! Also they're only open weekdays so that's a thing to work around. read more

Since my last review, things at this store have gotten worse. On a lot of levels. There are tons of people who full on run, sprint and power walk (which is not walking) upon the doors opening each morning at 9am sharp. The managers say to everyone "please do not run, walk only, be kind to others, blah blah blah" yet the stand there at the door and the registers and let them do what thy just loudly asked them NOT to do. I don't understand how anyone runs in this establishment. There are no emergency situations like earthquakes, power outages or fires that warrant running at any time of being in the store. People are going to get hurt! One of these people is a young college child, his name is John. He runs every day to get to the piles of music cd's on the shelves so he can find the high dollar ones to re-sell on ebay and amazon. He used to be a high school track star and has almost twice fallen down taking a corner too sharp. Yet the managers don't say a word to him to slow down, or kick him out for 5 or 7 days like they do to others in the store who constantly are always pushing, shoving others, or being rude and obnoxious. This young child John, 2 days ago as I went to grab some cd's came right across my whole hand and knocked them out of my hand and tried to pick them up as if to steal them from me! I told him to back off and if he ever touches me again that I would put him on the ground as self defense. He rudely badmouthed me and told me "too bad so sad". The very next day, he did it again but this time he tried to take the 4 cd's I had just grabbed to look at right out of my hands! I bit my tongue, but on my way out I pulled aside one of the managers who I thought would listen and try to do something about. He told me the next day (today) there would be a manager at the front door to confront and talk to him as he entered as well as another manager in the back to make sure he wasn't bothering others. Well neither thing happened and this knucklehead just sprinted in the store again and right by the manager 5 feet from the cd's and she didn't say anything to him or the others who were on a full on running sprint marathon to pick the aisles clean of the new items put out overnight. Korenna and Ingrid are the only female managers at this store. Barry, Nate, Joe and Joel are the male managers. Joe is quite honestly the only one who listens to customer complaints and sticks to what he says. Deseret Industries is thift store that stands out in a few ways from your Goodwill's and Value Villages out there but isn't quite like the rugged ones you'd perhaps see in Capitol Hill. Immediately what sticks out to me about Deseret is how clean and well kept up it is. Goodwill especially is notorious for this where at many of them it seems like a gust of wind blew through the aisles and things are scattered all over the place and picked over. To be fair certain sections such as the toys and the otherwise 'brick-a-brack' sections do look like this here and other places, but at least it looks like here at Deseret they have people that come and try to neaten it up or zone it. Another thing about Deseret that's unique and I like is with the piles of shirts I'm sure they get, they try to color code them and hang them so if you're looking for that certain color you can simple walk over and sift through shades of yellow or green t-shirts for example as they're hung up and separated from the rest of the assorted t-shirts. The store seems to be decently staffed and seems evident by how clean it generally is here. From what I understand they hire people of less means or recently released offenders for work which is nice. My company actually has one of our clients volunteer here so I appreciate them for that. The one flaw I've found here is the shoe section is not well presented. You have to "eyeball" the shoes for size as there isn't a tag or other easily identifier of size on them. They also seem to pretty much be mixed - womens, mens, baby, child... it could use improvement. I've visited Deseret a few times and although I've yet to score any nice finds here, I do enjoy the ease of browsing here and the prices are surprisingly decent considered the spike in many thrift stores inventory in favor of profits. If it matters to you, this is managed and owned by Mormons. If that's not a problem, then you have a very clean, and well organized thrift store. I have driven by this place so many time, but never dropped in. Today, I decided to pop-in. Service is great, the people there want to help and everyone seems to have a smile on their face. Selection, feels pretty good. I came early morning, after dropping off the kiddo at school. I could tell there were regulars, the early bird pickers who know what to look for. A bunch of the customers, somehow knew each other's names and yeah... I guess I was the stranger shopper today. Anyway, the prices aren't bad, I picked up a Timbuk2 bag, in pretty good condition for $3 bucks, and a couple blu-rays, $2 bucks each. Honestly, pretty good deals. I only buy things that I would use, so I don't know what resell values of things are, but feels like if you came here enough, you would find some good deals. So there, it's not scary, and if you don't care about the religion of the people who run the place, this should be on your list of thrift stores to visit. read more

This place has an amazing selection of clothes with great prices! I was able to find some aritzia pants & Ann Taylor skirts for $8 and $6 each!! The Ann Taylor skirts had price tags still on and the aritizia pants still looked pretty new, so great finds! The kids section had some great finds as well. Most items were $2-$4 and I was able to find a Nordstrom BP crop top in the girls section for $2! Service is amazing as well, the line moved quickly and staff were very friendly. There was a lady who was stealing in the woman's section and the staff handled it very well, gracefully and swiftly. read more

Deseret on Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline has been one of my primary thrift stores over the past 20 years or so. It is close to the house and has served as a place to shop for every day items, clothes, and items for special occasions. Growing up, it was either the first or one of the first places I would go if I needed clothes with a certain functionality, including for school play(s)/costumes, manual labour, and garments to adhere to a certain dress code. Offerings outside of clothing, accessories, and shoes, have yielded neat finds, tending to have breadth and depth in what is available. We have gone through the donations process a few times and the workers have been helpful and dropping items off straightforward. I have encountered a few problems at check-out/payment, though the workers tend to do a good job of handling the issue. Today, Friday 1 September 2023, I got three DVDs at $2.00 each ($6.00 total) and when I went to check out the cashier entered 6, thinking the dollar amount not the number of videos, so I ended being charged double - I would deem this an honest mistake. Fortunately, I caught this before leaving the payment counter. She called another worker over, who called the manager, and they corrected the total and I got the right change. All three of the workers were calm, collected, and professional in conduct. read more

The books were organized and the categories there there wasn't any raunchy nasty books in there. They were all Christian books they had rows of color coordinated clothes. The floor was clean. I've lived in Shoreline for the last 25 years and going to all the local thrift stores especially Deseret Industries. So today I'm looking around and I had a couple tshirts in my hand and was still shopping . Then out. Of nowhere the manager comes up too me and says haven't we had trouble with you here before for stealing? I said excuse me I don't steal I think you are mixing me up with someone else then he asks me to show him I have money at this point I'm highly agitated. With onlookers looking at me like I'm in trouble for something? So I yank out like 200 dollars I had in my pocket!! I am now embarrassed and pissed I said I don't steal ! You are mixing me up with someone else.. Then I say you must be profiling me because I have head drop syndrome from prior chemotherapy and radiation on neck where it deteriorated my neck muscles. So my chin is too my chest.. then he tells me for saying rude comments to him . That can't come back for 6 months!! Mind you I have done nothing wrong but being accused of being someone else!! Then I walk towards the counter to purchase the few shirts and then he yanks them out off my hand and says o can't come back for a year and leave the store! Because I was upset of being accused of something that I have no idea what he is talking about. So he is walking me to the front door escort every one looking at me like I'm some thief and I got caught. I honestly felt like socking him as he is standing in front of me chest out like he wanted to hit me. Mind you I have been going to this place for years longer than he has been a manager.'! I almost end up getting an assault but I held back I have never been treated this rudely cause of my disability ever! And this is a church thrift store! This is not a review that I want to write - but I feel that it is a review that needs to be written. I have been donating to Deseret Industries off and on for close to a decade (with the exception of a few years during the pandemic). My company and our affiliates have always brought trucks loads of great items to Deseret from estates around the Puget Sound area. We always thought that Deseret was grateful for our donations and thankful for our staff that brought those items to them... but unfortunately today I found out otherwise - as I had the misfortune of meeting the manager of Deseret Industries, Barry West. We stopped by Deseret with a truckload of items from a house in the Shoreline area. As we open the back of our truck, Barry peers inside and remarks that what we have to donate looks like trash then proceeds to tell us that we should leave and go to a landfill. Assuming that he was referring to a box that I was standing next to with ceramic flatware wrapped in newspaper - I point out that the box is not just paper, but flatware wrapped in newspaper (as is the practice when our company packs fragile items, we use whatever is on hand for packing). After explaining that we used newspaper to pack the fragile items, Barry relents and says he will take a few boxes. I tell him that we will start unloading... and that if it will make it easy on him, we could remove the packing so he and his staff will have less to throw away once we leave... and that's where things took a turn and got weird. Seemingly out of nowhere Barry turns to me and in a hostile tone points and tells us that we, "need to close up that truck and leave." Puzzled and not sure what just happened, I ask him why the odd and aggressive change... in which he insisted that we were being sarcastic in offering to remove the packing material that we used for packing the fragile items. Still confused and taken aback, we stood there for a few seconds puzzled trying to figure out what just happened... and then Barry barks, "leave, we have other people in line waiting to donate." So we do exactly as he requests, we close up the truck and leave. Still unsure on the strange exchange that just took place, I pull the truck out, park near the exit and then go back in to try and speak with Barry. I see him walking by, get his attention and proceed to try to figure out what just happened. As I attempt to inquire what went wrong, he just continues with more aggressive babbling about how he thinks that I (a total stranger to him) has a bad attitude. Realizing that I my presence was just winding Barry up even more, I decided to simply leave. As someone that has been donating truckloads full of items to a wide variety charities and businesses regularly for over a decade - my experience with Barry West was a first. One could only assume that he is the kind of person, when given authority, becomes extremely rude and unstable to anyone unlucky enough to cross his path. If you are someone with items to donate, I would recommend finding somewhere else to bring your items. By bringing your donations to a place that would put someone like Barry West in a leadership position, you are reinforcing the idea that rude behavior should be tolerated (or even rewarded). Instead, you could bring your items somewhere where both you and your donations are appreciated... somewhere like Value Village, it's what I did after I left Deseret Industries. Neither my company nor any of our affiliates will be going back to Deseret Industries while Barry West is there... you would be wise to do the same. read more

I have shopped and donated to Deseret in Shoreline for over thirty years. Today, my daughter took a truck load of my things to donate and the man who helped unload the truck was extremely rude and complained throughout the unloading process. He objected to her truck having a canopy even though she was also getting into the truck bed to remove items. He went so far as to tell her next time to come "fu##king" prepared. Most everything was boxed up and labeled so apparently he wanted her to remove her canopy?? I'm finding it difficult to reconcile such rudeness/nastiness and the use of the "f" word with the Mormon church. I will neither donate nor shop at Deseret again. Shame on this man and on Deseret for having such a person working for them. read more

Great selection of goods and staff is always friendly and welcoming here. Unfortunately there is a crew of pickers that camp out, day in and day out, so they are quick to grab all the treasures and do not leave much for the rest of us. This place is about 25 minutes away from me and worth the drive. I always find quite a few things and anyone I go with never leaves empty handed. I've gone twice on weekdays and it is busy! Don't these people work? lol I always find nice brands in their clothing and their shoes. Books are all priced under $4. Like most thrift stores, there's a huge religious section. Books are sorted by type of book, but not by author within. Housewares seems smaller than other thrift stores but still have found some treasures. I have a love hate relationship with the clothes. Clothes are sorted by men's, women's & childrens. Within each, some are sorted on racks by size (small-XL) and then there are some racks that are by color and not sorted by size nor is there a tag or something on the hanger to differentiate the sizing. So that can be annoying. They have a few racks for plus size, which is nice to have that sorted out. Dressing rooms are open and are plenty. Prices vary throughout the store but I'd say still cheaper than value village lately. read more

We showed him and accused us of insulting his intelligence. I would not recommend anyone to donate there. Please go to goodwill or value village to donate. Nice, clean store but there is a huge, huge problem here at this location and it's not worth shopping for many things. Management seems unwilling to implement a basic 'no loitering' policy. There is a group of 6-8 old men who hang out on the couches, literally all day every day, in the back where the carts come out. They aggressively jump up and rifle through the carts of new merchandise like buzzards before anything even gets put on the shelves. They take it all back to the couches and scan the internet for anything of value before handing it back. If you want to find a good deal in electronics, housewares, records, CD's or similar nothing good will ever even touch the floor. And what is worse is this has been going on for a long, long time! Read the negative reviews. This has been reported for years now. I've never seen anything like it. This location has literally allowed them to set up a business inside their business and deprive the rest of the community access to anything of value. I would not be surprised if they have paid under the table for this access or management is receiving some kind of kickback. Truly pathetic. read more

This is one of many thrift shops in the Seattle-Metro area. I find that they have a much larger selection than many of the Goodwill locations, however much of the quality is hit-or-miss. You can find brand new clothes for about what you'd expect to pay at a big-box-retailer (my boyfriend and I saw a brand new coat for $50, which was way more than Walmart or target, considering it was rather thin) Then you have an incredibly large selection of used clothes for men, women, and children with some in great shape, and some way past their prime. (Not a big deal as we also purchase at big-box-retailers, but worth noting) Additionally, there's a good collection of used furniture, used home essentials (pots & pans, appliances, gadgets, cups and plates, etc.) used toys and books, and even occasionally used outdoor goods and musical instruments. The staff is helpful and friendly and will explain to you that most items are not returnable (clothes are however exchangeable, within a 7-day window with receipt) and encourage you test out any electronic you purchase in the back, to ensure it works. read more

I love this place! They are what a non-profit thrift store should be. it's clean, well lit, have big, clean bathrooms. Employees are friendly. And most important-- they don't price gouge you like Badwill Industries! They don't always have the trendiest items, but I do find good stuff there often, and treasures occasionally, and actually buy things there, unlike Badwill, where i get sticker shock and leave without buying anything. Donating during COVID has been a breeze too as you can schedule your drop off online (not sure if that feature is still available now that things are opening up). The only downside is their limited hours. Closed evenings and Sunday. read more

Hmm. Where to begin. DI, as us Mormons call it, usually has a better selection in the thrift area but this store just had a lot of overpriced stuff that I didn't find useful. What I do like about them is they give people jobs to help them get rehabilitated. Pretty much 99% of what is at the DI was donated by a Mormon so if you have an issue with that, shop elsewhere. When we don't have a niece/nephew/cousin/sister/brother/uncle/aunt/grandpa/grandpa/mom/dad/fried/co-worker/teacher/neighbor to give our old stuff to, and if it didn't sell on Craigslist, and if it didn't sell at the yard sale, and there aren't any missionaries who want it, then we donate it to the DI. This is the reason why most of the stuff is picked over and kinda off putting, because we use it up till it's dead. Or grandma's dead, and no one wanted it at the estate sale or after the funeral. Just sayin'. I have a friend that is weird and will only wear thrift store clothes because he wants clothes that have already been lived in. (He's an artist, that explains a lot.) I stopped in to see if there was anything I could buy for him. The guy's department was super overpriced. $10 for a pair of used khakis? Say what? Those suckers are $7 at Value Village. They also have women's, juniors and kids clothing but I didn't bother looking for me since everything was looking pretty rough. I did see a section with brand new coats for kids. I roamed around the housewares section and find some ice trays that make the tiny cubes. Three trays for $0.75, sold! The rest just looked like really old and mismatched stuff. At other thrift stores I can find glasses and good plates for art projects, but not here. (Again, the good stuff goes to... you got the idea.) In the back room, they had about a dozen kids bikes, ski equipment, soccer equipment and various yard tools. There were other sports things too. If that's what you're looking for, come here, because I don't see these types of things at any other thrift store except DI. Tons and tons of books here. They also have a whole corner dedicated to kitchen appliances and electronics. Again, it was overpriced. They were asking for $20 for a 15 year old stereo. Come on now. They sell brand new bedroom furniture and mattresses. All sales are final at the DI. The parking lot is good sized. They have a giant metal bar that closes the parking lot when they aren't open. Deseret Industries - Lots of bikes! - Thrift Stores Near Me - Shoreline, Washington

Deseret Industries has two locations in Washington, Puyallup and Shoreline. The Puyallup location has better prices - hands down, but the Shoreline location still boasts good prices compared to most other thrift stores and the quality tends to be a bit better than most as well. I've lived on both sides of Washington and have been to approximately 50 thrift stores throughout the state - this location is #3 on my list based on price/quality. The location in Puyallup is #2. Bella's Voice in Lynnwood is easily #1 but DI is always worth a stop in. In fact, I'm writing this review after checking their hours because I'm heading there later in the day (usually go in the morning) and wanted to make sure they'd be open. read more

I don't get out to Deseret very often, and every time I actually make it inside, I remember why. Although it's a clean and well-maintained store, they just don't have very interesting stuff, and the prices can be bizarrely high on what is literally garbage (like old soy sauce bottles). The store is pretty easy to get to off of Aurora and it has a big parking lot. It's not very large inside, but it does have men's and women's clothes and shoes, kids' toys and clothing, housewares and a small amount of furniture, and electronics. Although the majority of the floor space is dedicated to women's clothing and shoes, I don't often find interesting vintage or designer labels -- it tends to be more like White Stag and Blair old-lady stuff. Their inventory seems to be generally in nicer condition than you might expect from a thrift store, but the prices are accordingly higher (usually more than I want to pay). When I see a used Forever 21 T-shirt for $5, I feel like I could get a NEW shirt for the same price. As far as I've seen, they don't really have discounts or sales, so the price on the tag is what you pay. They often seem to have full sets of dishes and glasses or china, so if you're looking for a larger matched set, this might be a good place to try. You probably already know that Deseret = Mormon, so if that influences your enthusiasm about shopping there, consider yourself warned... read more

The prices here are good and you can often find some treasures but it is so poorly sorted lately, the sizes are all mixed up and they seem to make no attempt to remedy it. I have spoken to several employees about it who seem to just shrug. The prices are about half those of Value Village. The customers can be a little dicey with many encounters there with people who are mentally ill or on drugs no doubt because of their location. I appreciate them hiring I/DD adults and immigrants to staff their store. The cashiers could be more friendly and less of a wait for checking out. Monday is senior day. There are, like many thrift stores, a crew of online sellers who haunt the place. Plenty of good labels mixed in with home sewn items too. The books are a good value and the prices so good I often buy items to give to the many unhoused in Seattle after laundering them. read more

I found this store to be very clean and really well organized. I can't speak to the clothing areas, but the home goods section was tidy and logical. Of course shelves are a bit of a jumble; it's a thrift store and that is part of the treasure hunt experience. All the wood is in one section, all seasonal another, and so on. The picture frames are lined up library book style. Really, this store is quite tidy. I am impressed. I think the prices are comparable to Good Will. I will undoubtedly be back here again in future. If you have issues with the Mormons, I mean, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then you might want to go else where. This is one of my favorite thrift stores. I try to stop in monthly since their stuff turns over so frequently. Some of my finds include $5 Gap jeans, $8 David Kahn jeans, a super cute pair of Marc Jacobs shoes for $4 (!!!!!), and a mess of books for $1 or less. Their baby board books are $0.50 a piece! I also found a Bebe Au Lait nursing cover for $2 - those are usually $35. Score!! I also spied a Dooney and Burke purse for $20. It wasn't my style, but it was still a decent brand. Their nicer purses are behind a case. Just ask for someone to unlock the case for you. When my baby started eating solids, I embarked on a baby food making adventure and decided to make 4 lbs of sweet potatoes for my baby. Note to self, 4 lbs of sweet potatoes makes a crapload of sweet potatoes. Sooo, when I realized that I needed more ice trays, I picked up a bunch here for $0.50-0.75 a piece. The store is better organized than a Good Will or Value Village, and they have a few new items. Like most thrift stores, be prepared to hunt. read more

But seriously - came out of here with a GIANT bundle of amazing tops and blouses in flawless condition for just $35, including a gorgeous rust colored Chico's blouse for $5 that I saw (and turned my nose at) at that other thrift store everyone knows and loves for FIFTY dollars. This is a good place to find furniture or small appliances, but not for clothing. The furniture and appliances tend to be of high quality (I paid $20 for a wonderful Whirlpool microwave that was clean and fully functional (the nearby Valu Village wanted the same for an old microwave that was rusted out inside). The value of the material they carry is very high. No rips or tears or stains on the clothes, the things they sell work. The prices they have are very low, even compared with other thrift stores. I understand they have a training program for people and the revenue from the items they sell is humanitarian-based helping in disasters and such. I only have positive things to say about them. read more

I'm a frequent shopper at Di. They have excellent prices on the better brands. What I dislike about this store is the clientele. There is a group of regulars who hang out waiting to shop from the racks the employees use to stock the store. They are middle age men who presumably sell what they find online. I feel like they are creeps and at times they make shopping here uncomfortable. read more
