I will never order glasses from here again, 13 days and still no glasses and continue to have to live with blurred vision!

I wanted information on my prescription and left multiple messages and email with no response at all. I'm sure they didn't want me to go elsewhere. They also need a lower price point selection of glasses. Very expensive frames. Very friendly office, but I'm just not happy there and will be changing as soon as it's time for new glasses.

The doctor and Gwen (who handles everything in the office) are very nice people. And they seem fun…read more I joked around with them, and appreciated their sense of humor, etc. I am happy with my glasses, even though I could have spent less online. I feel strongly that you should support some local businesses. But I can't give them a 4 or 5 star, unfortunately. My glasses took one month to arrive, which wouldn't really be a problem (I understand there are some issues with supply chain). I wouldn't even mind that they took four weeks, but the communication all the way through the process was not good. I called three times the week I was told my glasses were supposed to arrive and never heard back. What sort of professional office never returns your call? Looking back on it, I actually had to go to their office to schedule an appointment because I called to be their customer and never heard back for more than two weeks. I was told consistently "You are on my list to call." I've had people I dated and ghosted me who were better at communication. After they told me glasses would arrive in two weeks, and three weeks and four weeks came and they didn't respond to messages, I finally drove to the office and had to summon them to the door (it was 4 PM on one of the three days their offices are open). If you are reducing the days you are open due to COVID (which was what they told me), I can understand that. But you'd think that you would bend over backwards to make sure you service customers the three days you're open. I shouldn't have to call repeatedly to get information about my glasses. I called three times, left a message, and never heard back. I fully believe the last time I called they simply didn't answer my call. That's not professional. My glasses were there when I stopped by. So, the lesson I learned - be a squeaky wheel and you'll get some attention from these folks. I was fitted and paid. No apologies. Nothing like "Sorry we haven't gotten back to you, etc." You'll see another review here on Yelp from someone who also never got calls back. It got to the point where I actually wondered if maybe they were going out of business, and I would be out the money I deposited, which was half my total bill. If they were as efficient in communication as they were in taking my money, they would be the best optometrist in the world. Instead, they are simply average, albeit with great personalities. I liked the people in the office, but I shouldn't have to push them to communicate with me. Here's my feeling: they don't want to really grow the business much any more, and both the doctor and office manager are fine with that. So this business is basically run as a hobby. Wish I could give a better review. I guess if you are ok with bad communication, go with them, but be patient.

I don't have many choices when it comes to retina specialists in the area. Doctor Korot is very knowledgeable, but did not spend a lot of time with me. This was hard as a patient. I get other patients might have more urgent needs, but if I waited over two hours to see you because my retina is detaching, I'd appreciate better "bedside manner." Annual check ups matter too!!! If I could get a referral to a different doctor, I would change offices. Second reason I do not recommend this office: my appointments have been canceled last minute, and rescheduling is damn near impossible. I can never get anyone on the phone! The folks who do take calls don't work in the office and have to leave a note with the office. It took over five times for me to call and leave a message to get a returned call! Again very frustrating from the patient side. Finally, paying a bill is more difficult than it should be. You get the bill in the mail with a number to call. But guess what? The operators say the office is busy and they'll "call you back." I'm not sure what else can be done, aside from going into the office to pay my bill. I would argue that you have to go to the office to schedule and pay bills in person because the phone and email do not seem to work. Please do better, retina specialists of Michigan. You can hire more people to help with admin work, this might actually help patients.

Seems like the care quality is good. I just rated it a 2/5 because we got here at 1pm and ended up staying here past 6pm. For the longest time we waited in a room was over 45min and at the 40min mark they finally came in and let us know what was going on. just Plan to be here for a while I guess.

I was told nothing else and ushered out into the waiting room. I then asked the secretary if I could get a written list of when I should take these. She rolled her eyes and was extremely rude and told me I would have to wait for a half an hour until the doctor became available again. A nurse finally came out and went through the medications with me. After going back to my primary doctor I was informed that this secretary had added "asks alot of questions" to my medical record. At that point I blatently refused to go back to that office. I had been there twice before and had been treated like pond scum by this heavyset secretary. There is no excuse to have such a person working in a place where people already in pain are looking to get some relief.

My family has frequented Harbor View Eye Care for over 15 years for eye exams, contacts, glasses,…read moreand high-end Maui Jim sunglasses. Upon my recent visit to my hometown, Dr. Meengs gave me an 8:30 am, fast exam, fitted me for contacts, and explained everything in a friendly manner (5 Stars to that man, he is awesome!) But then I went to the front desk and the customer service took a verticle nosedive into Hell. An older man by the name of Brian took my paperwork. After Meengs returned to his office, Brian gestured toward a display and shortly said, "You need glasses. Pick something." I finished about, found some frames, and asked for lenses slightly weaker than my full-power prescription because I've struggled with migraines in the past. Brian simply said, "No." I pointed out that Meengs had agreed to do so. But Brain looked at my paperwork and said, "Only for your contacts. And I wouldn't have agreed to that. You should be wearing your full prescription." At this point, I thought I was speaking to a senior optometrist. After all, he had just voiced disagreement with Meengs' prescription. Sensing I would get nowhere, I asked for my written prescription so I could excuse myself. He gave me a paper for full strength glasses, which I hadn't even tried. Then he refused to give me a paper for the weaker contacts that I was actually wearing at that moment! Flabbergasted, I left, feeling as though I had wasted my time and money. Over the next week, Brian called me several times. He kept telling me, I needed to pay for glasses so that he could order them. Consistently, I asked for the slightly weaker lenses, the same strength as my contacts. Repeatedly, he dismissed anything I had to say and stubbornly told me, "No," and, "That's not legal," and "I won't change your prescription." Given how forceful and finite he spoke, I began to think that perhaps he was a new owner... I did not want to deal with such a pushy and unfriendly individual. Except he had sent in my Maui Jims to be fixed; I had to go back to pick them up! On the morning of my flight, I went to get my sunglasses. Although I approached him as friendly as possible, Brian was short with me. He overcharged me for the service of sending in my sunglasses. I asked for an itemized receipt, which he spent 5 minutes doctoring. I did not want to go around with him over $50. Except this time, my retired businessman-father was with me and he wasn't having it. Brian refused to go over the receipt. He REFUSED to give my father a PEN, (seriously!) He told us, "[we] should just leave," because he did not care what we had to say about how he treats his customers, "[he] was there to make money," and we weren't buying contacts or glasses. In the end, I went elsewhere to an ophthalmologist, and without issue, got what I needed. Both the ophthalmologist and an optometrist agreed, there is nothing illegal, nor liable, about selling weaker lens than a prescription, one simply won't have the best vision possible. 20/15 vision isn't worth migraines, not even 20/20 imo. So what's the best part of this customer's nightmare??? Brian is an OFFICE MANAGER!!! This stubborn, inhospitable man who voiced disagreement over my exam and my prescription is NOT an optometrist! Harbor View Eye Care is a nice store with a great location and an awesome optometrist, (Meengs.) BUT the 'non-owner office manager' is a grade-A.rrogant sob who has no business calling the shots on anyone's prescription, let along giving any type of medical advice. He should have referred to the DOCTOR who was literally down the hall or asked for additional paperwork if he felt anyway liable for filling a customer's request. Get this powertrip away from people or at least some hospitality classes!
