A few weeks ago my dog broke his toe and when I brought him in they told me he needed surgery and there was a risk his toe needed to be amputated. We were referred to Garden State where we went the next day to fine out no surgery necessary and also no amputation. He was put in a splint and given a 4 week healing period by Garden State. I called Atlantic Highlands Vet to schedule getting my dogs splint changed every week and they said they would have to sedate him each time to change the splint. That he wasn't calm when he was x-rayed so sedation was necessary for splint change. I did not agree with weekly sedation for 4 weeks to change a splint, so have been going to garden state each week and they are changing it without sedation no problem. Today I called Atlantic highlands because I just got my dogs splint changed at garden state yesterday and something is bending strange. So I asked Atlantic highlands if they could have a look today since they are so much closer to me than garden state. I explained we have had 3 splint changes at garden state without sedation and still today they would not see me to help me without sedation. I could understand if my dog was vicious at all but he's a puppy and has been totally fine for garden state. I asked Atlantic highlands to email me ny dog's paperwork and I will never go back.

Also, after the procedure, the veterinary did not come back out to speak to me had the tech do it, which I found very annoying because not all my answers could be answered and I paid a lot of money basically left me there leaving hanging so that now I have to go to another vet to get the answers.

They also provided us with there contact phone number and also an emergency number after hours which I used. My call was returned in less than 10 minutes and everyone I spoke too was so nice, kind and accommodating. The inside of the facility in Carlstadt was nice, neat and clean and very presentable. Eddie was so caring, gentle, respectful, and just amazing in every way. He made us feel warm and welcome when we came for our appointment. He explained the process and answered all our questions. He then brought us in to see our dog "Valentine" who was so beautifully laid out. Eddie gave us all the time we needed in private to grieve. He was so very kind and made us feel very comfortable. Eddie called us a couple hours later to inform us the ashes were ready. They were presented so beautifully and the engraved label was perfect. Eddie exceeded every expectation I had for the entire process. I feel so grateful to him for showing us such kindness in our final goodbye to our fur baby. Thank you Pet Meadow and thank you Eddie for the best possible experience in such a difficult time.

Three weeks after they received my pet's remains they called asking if I wanted any keepsakes. I returned their call saying I did not want any keepsakes and asked when the ashes would be ready. I was told 10-14 days is their timeframe. I pointed out my pet has already been there for 3 weeks. I was told they would prioritize my pet. The only thing worse than having to euthanize your pet is learning their remains have been hanging around the crematorium for three weeks all because I didn't purchase any keepsakes. The lack of sensitivity is overwhelming.

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. I had dropped my 11 mo Labrador off on Wednesday…read moreSept 22 and called Sept 24 to see how he was adjusting. I was told he's doing great and coming out of his shell as he was nervous when I dropped him off. I didn't hear from anyone until Tuesday October 5th (the day before pickup) when I received a voicemail from Mallory that she needed to speak with me. When I returned her call I was informed that my dog had a rash on his neck and wanted to tell me before picking him up the next day and it shouldn't be a "cause for concern." She stated that the day after he was dropped off, staff noticed a tiny itchy, dry spot on his neck that progressively got worse. She continued to repeat that they didn't want this to be a cause for concern and naturally concerned, I asked to be sent a picture of the rash. This was no rash at all. The picture I was sent showed my dog next to a trainer with a raw, oozing wound where his jaw meets the base of his neck. It looked very infected and he definitely needed medical treatment so I immediately went to the facility to pick him up. When I arrived, I did not find my dog in the same condition as shown in the picture I received just an hour earlier. His wound was dry and completely scabbed over. The staff stated the wound looked much better than before (because it was healing). I immediately took him to the vet for a thorough exam and our vet diagnosed a skin infection of the hair follicles caused by injury to the skin. He also estimated that the original picture I was sent earlier that day was taken at least a few days prior. The vet also estimated that this injury occurred at least a full week prior to the training staff notifying me. Not only did my dog have an infected injury on his neck, he also had an infected wound on his testicles, had lost a significant amount of weight, as well as developing upper respiratory infection. Prior to sending him to the facility he was a big overweight with a very thick coat. The dog I picked up had lost at least 10 lbs and his spine and hip bones can be felt to the touch. The picture I was sent from staff showed a very obvious infection and the staff neglected to care for my dog or notify me that he needed medical treatment and attempted to treat this wound themselves with only A&D ointment. When asked about the 24 hour veterinarian on call mentioned on the training facility website, the staff stated they do not have a veterinarian on call. A bit misleading. After examining the neck wound we noticed small bumps around the sides of the wound that seem consistent with a pronged collar. We don't know how these injuries occurred but it's very clear our dog was NOT properly cared for and the staff neglected to provide our dog with basic medical treatment or at the very least inform us that our dog needed to see a vet. I will NEVER recommend the Dan Gentile Training to anyone.

I'm writing now because we now have a new puppy and I was looking for training places and this place came up and brought up bad memories so I felt I needed to write our experience. We dropped our dog off and went on a trip so she could go through the program. Coming back to pick the dog up we couldn't wait to see our dog thinking she would be so excited to see us but to our surprise our dog was subdued and looked defeated. No tail wagging or anything. Before the trainer showed us what they did, she commented that if WE didn't follow directions we had to put $25 in this jar. We laughed it off as though she was kidding but to be honest I don't think she was. They walked us through what they did and the "progress" and mind you they had a spike collar on the dog so when you pull it digs right into their neck. The trainer was showing us and she pulled so hard my dog let out a painful yelp! It looked like torture to be honest. We immediately said we are done here and left ASAP! My dog eventually recovered and we found a dog trainer that used positive enforcements and she became her happy self again
